In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Sarah Pederson, a holistic OBGYN and founder of Vera Health and Fertility, to explore a refreshing and deeply restorative approach to women's health and fertility. After years in traditional obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Pederson recognized a gap in care, one that often prioritizes symptom management over true healing. That realization led her to build a practice centered on identifying and addressing root causes, helping women restore hormone balance and optimize fertility naturally. Together, we dive into the foundational role of nutrition, the power of continuous glucose monitoring, and the often-overlooked connection between gut health and reproductive function. This conversation challenges conventional fertility approaches and offers a hopeful, science-backed path forward for women seeking to understand their bodies more deeply. Dr. Pederson's journey from conventional OBGYN to holistic care Why a root-cause approach is essential for hormone balance and fertility The “Six Pillars” of hormone health: diet, sleep, exercise, stress, weight, and mindset/spirituality How nutrition, especially protein intake and breakfast timing, impacts hormones The hidden effects of sugar and artificial sweeteners on inflammation and fertility How Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) provide personalized insights into metabolic health The connection between gut health and reproductive function A look into Restorative Reproductive Medicine and how it differs from conventional fertility treatments Key Takeaways 1. Fertility starts with foundational health Dr. Pederson emphasizes that true hormone balance begins with lifestyle: what we eat, how we sleep, how we manage stress, and how we care for our bodies as a whole. 2. Food is powerful data Using tools like CGMs allows women to see in real-time how their body responds to certain foods empowering personalized, effective changes. 3. Gut health matters more than you think Underlying gut dysfunction and inflammation can significantly impact fertility, and addressing these issues can lead to profound outcomes. 4. Healing over bypassing Unlike conventional approaches that may override the body's natural processes, restorative reproductive medicine works to heal and support the body—leading to healthier pregnancies and long-term outcomes. Has anyone famous come out of your hometown? In our Focus Text this week, Nathanael is convinced that nothing good has ever come out of Nazareth and God certainly wouldn't send a Messiah there! And then he encounters Jesus of Nazareth and his whole idea of how God works is changed. Time after time God is using the ordinary to share the extraordinary love of AGAPe! Even if your hometown isn't known for its celebrity, God is present working in & through the ordinary and in & through you!
First words are an important introduction to a character in a book or movie. A character's first words often point to their purpose or core traits. In our Focus Text this week we hear the first words of Jesus in the Gospel of John: “What are you looking for?” Jesus is asking the would-be disciples what they are seeking from life, not offering to help them find the last item on their grocery list. His first words show us that he will help the disciples find their own purpose, a first-hand experience of God's AGAPe Love, a true sense of belonging in a community, and all they have been looking for.

In this episode, Alicia Pederson, founder of Courtyard Urbanist, takes us on a fascinating journey from ancient Rome to today's urban development roadblocks. She explains how courtyard-based architecture can address housing shortages, social isolation, and environmental concerns—all while creating vibrant, affordable neighborhoods for middle-class families.Read more about Alicia's work and vision here: https://courtyardurbanist.com/p/welcome-to-courtyard-urbanist
Alicia Pederson spent her twenties living in a 16th-century palazzo in Florence, and it changed everything about how she sees cities, density, and what American urbanism has quietly abandoned. She's the founder of Courtyard Urbanist and holds a PhD in English from Northwestern with a specialty in Renaissance pastoral literature, which turns out to be less of a detour and more of a throughline to everything she now advocates for.In this conversation we cover the history of the courtyard block, why American apartments have failed families for decades, the relationship between lot geometry and livability, why wood-frame construction is a systemic problem, and what it would actually take to build the kind of urban housing that allows families to put down real roots. We also talk about what's happening in my own neighborhood at Wheeler — and why watching my sister, my parents, and my business partners all move within two blocks of each other has made the mission feel more personal than ever.Alicia is working with architects and developers right now to bring this typology back to American cities. As we mark the Day of Pentecost we are reminded of how the Holy Spirit equips us with all sorts of 'languages' that can be used to share the impact of God's love on our lives. When we know the same ‘lingo' of a shared interest, passion, or vocation, we have an established connection that makes sharing God's love easier. We can find belonging when we share a common lingo and in belonging we can discover God's AGAPe love at work in those around us.

Using modern day scientific discovery our Focus Text seems like fantasy, Jesus ascending into the stratosphere like some kind of weather balloon. For the Gospel Writer, it wasn't about the physics, what was more important is what the Ascension meant for people of faith. The Ascension is not about escaping the world, but rather a reminder that Christ's work that began in Jerusalem now continues throughout the world. And we are here to embody the kingdom Jesus proclaimed as we create spaces of welcome, friendship, compassion, and community with AGAPe Love.

Just about everything went right for the Rangers over the first eight innings. They hit for power, they collected hits with runners in scoring position, and their starting pitcher, MacKenzie Gore, had one of the best starts of his career. While the lineup was a bit unorthodox, with Joc Pederson leading off, it was effective. Pederson hit a leadoff homer. The way the Rangers won is the blueprint for what they can do. In our Focus Text Jesus sends out his followers to bring a message to those they meet: “The Kingdom of God has come near!” He also tells instructs them on how to handle those who do not greet the meeting in peace. Don't argue, or threaten, or harm them in order to convince them to welcome you and the message. Just move on and keep proclaiming the message. Their rejecting the meeting does not diminish the light of your presence or your peace or the power of the message.
Our culture tends to obsess over ‘proving our worth.' Find success, your worth is proven. Make a notable contribution to society, you've proved your worth. Carrying on the family legacy, proof of worth. In our Focus Text this week, Jesus, as usual, is counter-cultural, your worth to God is not proven through what you've accomplished it is inherent in your identity as a child of God. The children and babies approaching Jesus have done nothing but seek out Jesus and God's love and Jesus says “the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
As part of the human experience we can recognize the “lasts” of life. Sometimes we recognize it as a last in the moment, especially when it's a Milestone marked like your last ‘fill-in-the-blank' (Prom, Gymnastics Meet, Science Class) of High School. Sometimes we don't realize that it was our last until it doesn't happen again, like a last conversation with a loved one or the last clean bill of health before a cancer diagnosis. In our Focus Text this week, Jesus is preparing the disciples for the lasts that are coming up on what would be his last night with them before his death and resurrection. Jesus doesn't tell them everything will be fine (because it won't) but he encourages them to do the ‘next' thing even in the midst of their grief. He also reassures them they will not be alone as they take that next step, the Holy Spirit will be with them for each new step they make in love.
It's unbelievable, until it's not! Jesus appearing in a locked room. God's AGAPe love for us when we don't deserve it (Grace). When we try to contain our beliefs in a box God surprises us by always making space for love among our doubts and fears.
Don't I know you from somewhere?! After the Resurrection, some followers of Jesus were walking to Emmaus when Jesus joins them along the way, but they don't recognize him. Sometimes we don't recognize where God is at work in our lives. Other times we don't realize God is working through us in the lives of our neighbors. Jesus shows up, even when we don't quite recognize him.
As we celebrate the Resurrection, Pastor Chad offers a reminder that the Easter Story is a direct challenge to what we think power and victory and community and even love looks like. Jesus' death and resurrection were the beginning of the New Creation that the Prophet Isaiah shared where our whole understanding of the how the world works is challenged by God's vision of how the world should work. When faced with this challenge, we can either stand stubbornly behind our old views or embrace the new vision that is built on the unconditional, self-sacrificial AGAPe Love that Jesus embodied on Easter morning.
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday marking Jesus entry into Jerusalem as the crowds celebrated his arrival with shouts of joy. The Pharisees wanted the crowds silenced, but Jesus told the Pharisees, the crowd, and us, that Good News of God's AGAPe Love will not be silenced, even the rocks will proclaim God's love for the world!

The Texas Rangers need Joc Pederson to be much better than he was in 2025, and so far he hasn't given them many reasons to be optimistic. Yes, it's spring training, but the results have been uninspiring. Manager Skip Schumaker is giving Pederson, a veteran, the benefit of the doubt and highlighting the positives (he's in better shape, the at-bats have been good). The Rangers have addressed their bullpen again with the signing of left-hander Jalen Beeks. What does that do to the bullpen and what does it mean for the rotation? God's word came to John the Baptist in the wilderness -- and God meets us in our wilderness, as well. Lies about our identity can make it hard to savor peace and hear God. Yet even in a season of noise and over-scheduling, God invites us to peace and rest in our true identity in Christ.
You've heard of vampire facials—but what about healing your uterus with your own blood? In this episode of Wellness Wednesday, Helen sits down with Dr. Sarah Pederson, OBGYN, MD. and founder of Vera Fertility, to unpack one of the most innovative tools in restorative reproductive medicine: the intrauterine PRP wash. Dr. Pederson explains how this procedure—using a patient's own platelet-rich plasma—can help rejuvenate the uterine lining, support implantation, and offer new hope for women facing recurrent miscarriage, thin lining, chronic endometritis, or unexplained infertility. She walks through what the procedure actually looks like, who makes a good candidate, and why so many patients who've hit a wall elsewhere are flying to Colorado just to get this done. They also talk about: • Why inflammation and allergies can quietly sabotage fertility • How chronic infection in the uterus gets completely missed in mainstream care • The difference between PRP wash and surgical ablation (and why they're opposites) • How PRP is also used in endometriosis surgery and to support egg quality If you've ever wondered whether there are options beyond birth control, ablations, or IVF, this episode is for you. Dr. Pederson lays out a hopeful, holistic vision of women's health—one where your symptoms matter, your uterus is understood, and healing is actually possible.
