Is it time for parents to get their children out of government run schools that teach them values that are the contrary to what is taught at home? This is the hot topic that is raging across the country that we discuss on this week's episode of CURE America with Star Parker. Ninety percent of the nation's K-12 students attend public schools. Over the last years, as parents became more aware of what is being taught to their children, a new movement has been awakened and parents are not only challenging what is being taught to their children, but are looking for policy solutions that would allow money to follow children to the school's parents want. Whether it is Critical Race Theory, transgenderism and sex education, or other value systems that contradict traditional values on race, marriage, family and life, the union-controlled education system is being challenged. In this episode, we learn from our special guest, Corey DeAngelis of the American Federation for Children and our panelists Jonathan Alexandre of Liberty Counsel Action, Terry Jeffrey of CNSNews.com and Andrew Handel of the American Legislative Exchange Council, that there are alternatives to public schools. This year, four states have already passed Education Savings Accounts and many more are considering options for dollars to fund students, not systems. Yes, it is past time for parents to take full responsibility for their children's future - and demand that they have the freedom and the money to select a school for their child that teaches their values and worldview, the school of their choice.

This episode of CURE America with Star Parker is brought back to you to highlight the critical importance of school choice, emphasizing that parents should have the freedom to choose the school that aligns with their values. After all, it's their children, not the government's children. Is it time for parents to get their children out of government-run schools that indoctrinate our kids? This is the pressing issue we discussed in this week's episode. Currently, ninety percent of the nation's K-12 students attend public schools. As parents increasingly recognize the harmful influences in public schools—such as the sexualization of children, promotion of fake Critical Race Theory, socialist indoctrination, and erosion of parental rights—a strong movement is emerging. These parents are not just pushing back against the radical agenda in the classroom but are also demanding policy changes that ensure funding follows their children to schools that align with their values.   The success of charter schools and private schools stems from the same principle that drives the success of private universities—students choose them because they are not forced into them by the zip code that would otherwise define their destiny. Whether it's Critical Race Theory, transgenderism and sex education, or other educational approaches that some parents believe contradict their values on family and life, the union-controlled education system is facing significant challenges.   In this episode, we hear from our special guest, Corey DeAngelis of the American Federation for Children, along with our panelists Jonathan Alexandre of Liberty Counsel Action, Terry Jeffrey of CNSNews.com, and Andrew Handel of the American Legislative Exchange Council. They discuss the alternatives to public schools and highlight the growing trend toward Education Savings Accounts, with four states having already passed such measures this year and many more considering options to fund students, not systems.

But there's no demons or blood magic here. Just good old fashioned corporate greed and manipulation.  But wait ...THERE"S MORE.  ALEC  is a 'non profit' organization comprised of legislators, mostly at the state level, and VERY large multi national corporations . What makes ALEC so heinous is that they buy state legislators and representatives and hand them corporate friendly bills that they write and pay to have them turned in to law. This has been happening since the 70's and has largely gone unnoticed.    This isn't conspiracy theory, folks. This is conspiracy fact.

Many people have never heard of the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC – but for 50 years, the group has been the driving force behind some of the most extreme policies in this country. Behind closed doors, ALEC brings corporate lobbyists and state politicians together to draft and vote on model bills that aim to free corporations from regulations, regardless of the impacts on people and the planet. Labor law, environmental law, health and safety, voting — no cause is off-limits. Our guests say ALEC and its wealthy pool of funders are a real threat, but there are ways to take action and progress has already been made. In 2023, a diverse coalition of groups, including Greenpeace, Color of Change, the Center for Media and Democracy and more, is calling out the anti-democratic impact of ALEC by using the hashtag #50YearsOfHarm. The American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, is a group of state legislators dedicated to conservative principles like limited government, free markets and federalism. One of the organization's main priorities is “school choice,” including allowing families to use public funds to pay for private schools.Andrew Handel, director of ALEC's education and workforce development task force, explains why he believes government funding should follow students even when they leave the public school system. Then, education reporter Aubri Juhasz joins us for more context, including the other side of the argument. Louisiana has the 10th most regressive tax system in the nation, according to a national report from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. That means lower-income residents spend a higher share of their income on taxes than people in higher income brackets. Jan Moller, executive director of the Louisiana Budget Project, breaks down Louisiana's “outdated” tax codes and how they impact residents.  Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Adam Vos. Our managing producer is Alana Schreiber and our assistant producer is Aubry Procell. Our engineer is Garrett Pittman. Ro Khanna & Lisa Graves calling out ALEC / The American Legislative Exchange Council .  It is made available here as a podcast thanks to the generous contributions from listeners like you.  Thank you.  Become a member support at LauraFlanders.org/donate Full Episode Description: Many people have never heard of the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC – but for 50 years, the group has been the driving force behind some of the most extreme policies in this country. Congressman Ro Khanna of California's 17th Congressional District, a leading progressive in the House, and Lisa Graves, Executive Director of True North Research and President of the Center for Media and Democracy, two of the preeminent national watchdog groups investigating dark money, join Laura Flanders to unpack it all. And in her closing commentary Laura fills us in on the other side of the story in state houses: the Democrats' have their own project in place these days. But is it any match for ALEC?“ALEC recognizes that on many of these issues, there's a 70, 80, 90% consensus against them and they're trying to distort the democratic process by the use of big money.” - Ro Khanna“ I still believe that for many people, not all people, knowledge is power, facts matter, and knowing who the real special interests are behind this [legislation] can help expose and block them.” - Lisa GravesGuests:Lisa Graves: President of the Board, Center for Media & Democracy; Executive Director, True North ResearchRo Khanna: Congressman California's 17th District Full Episode Notes are located HERE.  They include related episodes, articles, and more.Music Included- "In and Out" and "Steppin" by Podington Bear.  FOLLOW The Laura Flanders ShowTwitter: twitter.com/thelfshow Facebook: facebook.com/theLFshow Instagram: instagram.com/thelfshow/YouTube:  youtube.com/@thelfshow ACCESSIBILITY - The broadcast version of this episode is available with closed captioned by clicking here for our YouTube Channel

It's part of what is so far nearly 127-billion dollars the Biden administration has provided as it seeks to make college more affordable and to put it in reach of more people. In his remarks at the White House, Biden also took aim at what he calls MAGA extremism in Congress, opposition to Ukraine aid, and a “poisonous atmosphere” and dysfunction in Congress. The New York State Attorney General criticized former President Donald Trump's comments regarding his civil fraud trial, deeming them offensive and groundless. The Attorney General also labeled Trump's appearance in the early days of the trial as nothing more than a political stunt.
