"There is NO scenario where we practice the way of Jesus without consistent interactions with Scripture." As things in our life become more immediate and more automated, it can be tempting to do the same with our time in Scripture. In this study, we look at 5 ways we can interact with Scripture:Read it, study it, meditate on it, memorize it, and practice it. (As always with this series, many of the ideas are taken from practicingtheway.org. )
How do we read the bible for formation and not just information? What is spiritual reading, and are certain parts of the Bible more important to read than others? Chris and Dave get started in our four week series on the practice of Scripture.

Have you ever loved a song and found that learning its story made it even more meaningful? That happened to me this week. I was inspired to study Psalm 34 after listening to "Trust In God" by Elevation Worship. Only the story behind the song that I studied isn't the story behind "Trust in God." It's the story behind David's song in Psalm 34. Join me as we read and meditate on Psalm 34 and watch it come to life while studying the "story behind the song." Sometimes Christians say things that are meant to be a comfort to others but aren't theologically sound. Shocking, I know. Some of my favorite videos to watch are when the guest has to guess if it's something that comes from the Bible or a quote. A lack of confidence can be a dangerous thing. It’s important to understand that the Bible never teaches that we shouldn’t be confident. Many people point towards Jesus’ command that we walk in humility as a way to justify a lack of confidence. However, being humble doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be confident. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mark-smith96/support
