This week on the podcast we got Bellevue Comets head coach Dave Ripperger, or as many know him as Coach Ripp. Ripp is in his 12th year at the helm, and we sit down and chat about their upcoming season.
What happens when a child learns they are 'worth' $80 every two weeks? Today on Money Tales, our guest is Melissa Ripp, an entrepreneur who reflects on how her childhood experiences—like learning the amount her dad paid in child support—deeply shaped her relationship with money. We'll explore how those early lessons influenced her entrepreneurial journey and her drive for financial independence. This conversation goes deep into the emotional side of money and the lasting impact of those early money moments. Melissa “Mel” Ripp is an engaging keynote speaker, proud entrepreneur, and passionate Wisconsinite who believes that everyone—no matter where they're from, what they do, or who they do it for—has something incredible to offer the world. With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit and corporate marketing and communications, Mel has guided several organizations in a variety of niches and industries—performing arts and music, historic preservation, tourism, K-12 education and education technology, manufacturing, insurance and finance, healthcare, and social services in telling their stories and communicating their “whys” to their audiences. Jumping into full-time entrepreneurship six years ago, Mel is the founder and CEO of Peapod Marketing & PR Consulting, a marketing and thought leadership consultancy that works to elevate the ideas and perspectives of women executives and entrepreneurs by helping them develop an authentic platform for their expertise through messaging development, social media and content creation, and public relations strategies. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in English with a Creative Writing emphasis and a Communication Arts degree with an emphasis in Radio, Film, and Television production. When she's not working with clients or dreaming up her next big idea, Mel is probably hanging out with her two biggest fans—husband Zack and cat Poseidon, driving with the music cranked down a country road in her home of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, or buying yet another houseplant for her office. Houseplant count: 43.

Jim Rutledge and Alex Strouf are back for their second show together in as many days. Jim and Alex quickly start out with a conversation about which team in the NFC North has had the best offseason three weeks out from the NFL Draft. Jim also tries to set some parameters for realistic expectations on the free-agency moves the Packers have made so far, but Strouf and Primetime get caught up on his use of the term "bust out." They also look forward this year's crop of top QB prospects, and Jim asks which prospect is most likely to "bust out": Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels or J.J. McCarthy. Jason Wilde joins Jim and Alex Strouf. Jim asks Jason if the Packers would be wise not to buck conventional wisdom and possibly trade for an elite wideout like Tee Higgins, just like the Texans traded for Stefon Diggs. Strouf asks which position the Packers will target in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Jason also talks about what Guety needs to do to improve with his draft record and if staying so young is a good idea for the long-term. Jim and Strouf conclude Hour 1 with the High Life Dive Bar of the Week: BD's Ripp's Bar in Waunakee! and Strouf gets into a story about Elvis busting out karate on the streets of Madison, leading to a story about Jim's karate past as a child in Fort Atkinson...

Having all the right electronics is of course something most every fisherman has or is working on having but knowing how to use them and how to get the most out of them rarely happen for many of us. That is why Captain and Downrigger called Jason. He truly has turned the use of fish finders, electronic maps, and imaging into an artform. Jason starts by explaining how to find fish without having any electronics and then goes trough how to use very basic electronics all the way to how to use the latest gear that can show you not only where the fish are but what the heck they are doing down there! In fact, did you know that some electronics can help you not only find the fish but find the size you are looking for? Oh, but it gets even better! Yeah, it is a whole new world out there when you know how to really make your electronics work the way you have always dreamed, they could. More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
The effects of sin are ravaging our world. Like the devastating locusts stripping the land bare in the book of Joel, we are stripped of meaningful worship owed to Father God. Let Andrew Ripp's song "For The Love Of God" remind you of God's love and his call to action displayed in this minor prophet book. And let the text lead us to action in our own devastated land. In this episode, I discuss the following: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture – this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Share with a friend Read the text out loud Read in context Consult section headings Make observations Make a list Consult an overview Pray The Episode Guide for continued self-study Overcoming the obstacle of feeling inadequate when it comes to discussing Scripture Read the text together Get your bearings of the context using section headings Make some observations Write down any questions Pray and ask God to reveal what He wants you to see Learn from trusted outside resources Taking advantage of the "now" The Bible Project Overview of Joel - YouTube Video The importance of using even devastating circumstances as launching pads to share with our children - Joel 1:3 How tragedy impacted worship - Joel 1:9 The symbol of drink offerings - Holman New Testament Commentary - Amazon Paid Link The symbol of grain offerings - GotQuestions.org Article How Joel paralleled the joy of the people drying up like the land drying up - Joel 1:12 The action words God uses toward His people found in Joel 1 Rescue coming through repentance The references to the "day of the Lord" in Joel Joel 1:15 Joel 2:1 Joel 2:11 Joel 2:31 Joel 3:14 What Peter teaches about the "day of the Lord" in 2 Peter 3 People will deny that the day of the Lord will come Christ has delayed his return so people can respond to the message of salvation We must stay ready for the day of the Lord by living holy and godly lives The lyrics from our inspiration song remind us of what we've studied God's Word is interconnected in ways we'll never come to the end of. But rather than being discouraged by that, let's reframe it as endless opportunities to explore. **Note the sound is terrible on my end as the connection was bad, but we've fixed that for all future episodes moving forward. Mike's sound is fantastic though and should be good to go** From having everything, to losing it all, to now making it back and sharing his knowledge with the rest of us. Mike Gibson is a retired NFL lineman, and now the Director of Community Outreach at The Mental Health Center of San Diego and Healthy Life Recovery. (mhcsandiego.com ) In our interview, Mike will be chatting with us regarding his football career. The ups and downs. The Junior College to D1 route he took. What he learned through that process, and what the transitions were like from JUCO to D1, and then we will also learn of the transition to the NFL where Mike played for 6 years. In Mike's third year in the NFL, he suffered an injury that required a big recovery. This is when Mike's story took a turn as he became addicted to pain killers. This addiction continued to get worse and worse, as his body became chemically dependent on some of these substances and he found himself in a downward spiral that continued not only through the remainder of his NFL career, but after he retired from the game as well. This is a story of addiction, of perserverance, of recovery, and redemption! It also goes to show that it can truly happen to anyone at any moment, so it's wise to become familiar with the situation and with Mike's story as it has the potential to help thousands of listeners out there! Share this episode with any athlete you know, and anyone you feel could benefit! Thank you for tuning in! Andrew Ripp is not an overnight sensation. He's been at this songwriting thing for years now, achieving success in 2005 by co-writing the hit “Shine On” for Ryan Cabrera, and collaborating/ writing for Cory Asbury, The Wait and Ben Rector, The Judds, and others. But success came at a cost. A personal battle with addiction cost Andrew almost everything that mattered to him. But God... Andrew gave his life to Jesus and his story is just getting started. Celebrating 15 years of sobriety, Andrew has found a new kind of freedom, success, and sweetness in life in this season. His songs like “Fill My Cup” and “Jericho” have become anthems for those of us who have fallen in love with Jesus and are amazed by how He changes everything. I am so excited for you to meet Andrew Ripp! He's my guest on the podcast and he has an amazing story of God's intervention in his life.

Note: Please be patient with the audio difficulties coming from my end on this interview. There appeared to be some issues with the internet connection when doing this interview Eddie George is my DREAM INTERVIEW!! He was THE reason I became an Ohio State Buckeyes fan back when I was seven years old, and I am beyond excited to share this interview with you guys today. In this discussion, you're going to learn a lot about his career at Ohio State, and what it was like playing in Columbus during his college years. We'll chat about the life lessons he took from his playing days in the NFL, including what he learned in the Super Bowl loss to the Rams when the Titans came up one-yard short! We will also get to hear about what he's taken from the sport to his coaching career, where he now is the head coach of the Tennessee State football program! If you stay until the end of the interview, you'll get to hear some of the suggestions of books, podcasts, and apps that Eddie enjoys for his own personal growth! I hope you enjoy this intervieww as I share my passion and my favorite player from when I was a kid, with the rest of the world. Again, I apologize for the audio problems on my end during the interview, but it's a great thing the majority of this discussion is Eddie sharing his insight anyway :) This interview wouldn't be possible without the help of the sponsor for the episode! Ricky Williams was always one of my all-time favorite runningbacks in the NFL. He had the swag before the 'swag was cool' and he was the one we all wanted to play with on Madden! What intrigued me about Ricky, was his desire to be true to himself and his own beliefs, even if that meant being different than others. I first learned this during the 30 for 30 Documentary on ESPN, and then learned more about this during our interview! Listen in today and learn from Ricky Williams about his football career, the life lessons he took from his journey, as well as what he's doing now in his business world. Make sure to checkout his business: Highsman I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did, as we get to learn from one of the all-time greats. And make sure to stay tuned to the end of the interview where we do the 'Guru's Gauntlet' where I ask him a few rapid fire questions about life, leadership, and more. What an incredible opportunity we have today to hear from Division 1 Lacrosse Player, from the University of Pittsburgh, Kiara Feibusch. We'll tap into the sports side of this conversation where Kiara helps us with understanding what the lacrosse world is truly like. We'll chat about club/travel team lacrosse compared to that of normal high school lacrosse. She'll give us all some advice on the recruiting process of lacrosse so we know what goes on behind the scenes and what other younger athletes should be doing in order to get in front of the coaches they want to play for. We'll get to hear of her favorite memories and advice on mastering the basics so you have a solid foundation of your sport. Today's conversation is even more powerful because we will tap into the topic of mental health as it's a huge part of Kiara's story. I first was able to see her story on The Hidden Opponent where I learned of her silent struggle with depression and how she overcame that. Today on the show, she'll open up about that struggle so our audience can learn more about it. Our hope with this piece of the conversation, is for young athletes and even those around them such as parents, coaches, etc. can have an understanding of what to look for in those battling with their mental health, as well as what resources are availbale (or should be available) for them to overcome those battles. You're absolutely going to love this interview! All I ask for in return, is that to show your support of Kiara and the show, is to leave us a review on Apple Podcasts! If you leave us a review, it can get out to more and more people! :) Thank you so much for your support! I also want to give a massive shoutout to the sponsor of today's episode! More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
Our God is a God of abundance. But while we are looking around thinking an abundant life has to do more with material blessings and a lack of conflict, God has a better idea. Andrew Ripp's song "Fill My Cup" inspired me to discover what God wants to fill us with, as revealed by His holy Word. Join me as we meditate on a couple of psalms and then diligently seek out what Scripture describes as a cup running over. The shortcomings of vintage, old-style ignition systems are well documented. But what about modern ignition systems? How can they perform better to spark modern high-horsepower engines? That was the question that drove RIPP Superchargers' Ross Esposito to develop a new line of coil plugs for modern ignition performance. In this episode, we look at modern ignition shortcomings and see how RIPP has found ways to overcome them. Listen and learn!
