A reverse mortgage is a financial tool that allows homeowners aged 55 and above (in Canada) to borrow against the equity in their homes. A reverse mortgage could be beneficial in scenarios such as funding home renovations, helping adult children with down payments for their own homes, or supplementing income for seniors with high healthcare expenses. Reverse mortgages do not require income verification or stress tests, and repayment is flexible, with no payments required until the home is sold or the last homeowner passes away. Remember ALL homeowners on the title must be over 55, and the property must be well-maintained and in a good location to qualify.Listen For3:06 The Differences Between Canadian and U.S. Reverse Mortgages5:07 Eligibility and Family Considerations6:52 Using the Reverse Mortgage for Home Renovations and Creating Rental Units12:36 The Flexibility of RepaymentContact Nicole LopezReal Estate AgentRoyal LePage Credit Valley Real Estate, BrokerageEmail | Website
TW: Talk of Fat Shaming & Weight Stigma As we are moving towards a body positive society, there are always setbacks. This episode was inspired by a situation that the host, Tara, experienced recently. Tara was asked to speak at an event and recorded a promo video for the organization to promote it. Once the video was posted, Tara was met with hateful comments shaming her about her body weight and qualifications about being a personal trainer due to her appearance. Despite her journey of self-acceptance, the backlash from her colleagues affected her mental well-being. Throughout this episode, the hosts, including a personal trainer, therapist, and dietitian, provide valuable insights into handling and navigating body shaming, even in an era that promotes body positivity. If you've experienced body shaming or any form of bullying, this episode offers practical tools and advice to help you overcome negativity and emerge stronger. Topics discussed in this episode: Tara's recent experience with body shaming. Insights from personal trainer, therapist, and nutritionist hosts on dealing with body shaming and weight stigma. Practical tools and advice for overcoming negativity and bullying. Tips for promoting self-acceptance and body neutrality. Emphasizing the importance of weight inclusivity in today's era. I am so excited to be bringing you the rebrand of the Your Rich Life Podcast. This podcast is where small business owners, like you, can learn how to stop spinning your wheels in the same results, grow your small business and guarantee your success. To introduce this rebrand, I've recorded a bonus seven episode series and they're all available right now. The first four episodes will explicitly show you where your business breakthrough is going to be. And by taking you through my signature framework, Build Your Business 6 Pack, you'll be able to self identify your biggest business block. The final episodes are the three essential foundational, pillars and Practises of your success. In fact, all success. I've seen it with myself, my clients, inside my mastermind groups, and from research gathered on the world's most successful people. Plus, this podcast is focused on implementation over information. So at the end of every podcast, there's going to be a small, simple actionable step for you to implement. And on top of that, you can take my Business Breakthrough quiz and get a personal, detailed report sent to you on how to create your business breakthrough now. And the link for that is in the show. Notes if you take these small, easy steps inside the next seven episodes and take the quiz, I am absolutely certain that you will achieve a breakthrough in your business. So if you're ready, let's get going with episode number one. It is your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude - Zig ziglar. If there were a quote that summed up Build Your Business six pack, this would be it. And here's why. First of all, let's start off with the definition of attitude. It is a feeling or opinion about something or someone or a way of behaving that is caused by this. So basically, attitude is the expression or the outcome of your beliefs, which in turn determines what action you will or will not take. However, in the small business world, you've probably noticed by now that the answer for those who are struggling is strategy. You just need to know how to how to improve your copy or your messaging. Choose a different social media platform or use your existing one better. Grow your email list. Email marketing. Own your pricing. Nail your niche. Get better at branding. Learn how to use AI. Get on the latest trend. As I record this, Threads has literally just been published about a week ago. There are definitely going to be some cases where this is going to be true in your business. But having worked with hundreds of small business owners, here's what I'd see to be more true. It is unresourceful and often damaging beliefs of lack and limitation that lead to frantic and unfocused action taken from fear and desperation that have small business owners spinning their wheels, creating the same unsatisfying results over and again and have them thinking that there is a magic strategy that's missing. There is no missing strategy. There is just no one telling you that the most powerful strategy is you. Until now. So over the next seven episodes, I'm going to help you become that strategy. And I'm not going to just bombard you with information, I am coaching you to implement, because that's the only thing that will create the change that you require. I'm going to finish this short introductory episode with a basic overview of the Build Your Business six pack formula. And then I'm going to give you your first implementation exercise. And it is short and it is sweet, like all of them. So if you're ready, let's go in with element number one, which is the brain and mind. There are five things that I want you to really hold on to when it comes to your brain. Your brain functions from a programme. It filters all information from all of your senses through this programme. The results that you don't have but you want are a result of this programme. Your brain's job is to keep you safe and alive and your brain doesn't care if you're successful. So basically, your brain is naturally not going to be on your side. It has two jobs to keep you safe, to keep you alive. It is your mind where the magic is. Your mind is your higher self, your infinite possibility. Your mind has all the answers. It is all the answers. It is your will, your deepest desires, and it's a thing that right here we're going to use to direct your brain to do what we need it to do. And inside the Build Your Business six pack, you're going to rewire your programmes of limitation and create success. You're going to learn how to use your mind to be in control of your brain always. The next pillar of BB6P is Body and Energy. And two words really sum this up, vibrancy and frequency. Inside this pillar, you're going to discover the power of using your body to create both the long term motivation to take action with vibrancy and joy instead of dread and fear. And on top of that, you're going to learn how to create an energetic frequency that actually matches the outcome that you desire versus the outcome that you keep creating. This is where we look at the tools that keep you both physically fit and healthy and strong, as well as the techniques that you can use to instantly shift how you feel and to create a powerful energy of creation and action. Then we sew it all together with high performance coaching and strategy. This is element number three. High performance coaching is scientifically backed. It's a coaching framework based on research of the world's most successful people. It will show you exactly how to think and act in a way that guarantees not just your business success, but your life success. Your best life, relationships, health, purpose, aliveness. You're all going to find evidence of high performance coaching throughout the entire formula of Build Your Business six pack. Now, we're going to combine that with clarity on your personal and business strategies to amplify your energy, to grow your faith, to raise your frequency with knowing what you need to do now to move your business forward is where it all really comes together. And that's it. That's the introduction. The whole point of starting here was to give you some idea of where you might not be showing up, where you might not have the information you need. So just taking a think about it, if you had to think about all of those things, where do you think you can identify your business block right now? Is it more in the brain and mind? Is it more in your body and energy? Is it in the coaching and the strategy? Maybe you feel like it's a bit of everything and all of that's. Okay, right. If you want to know more details on that, please go take the quiz. The quiz will tell you explicitly where you need to start working to achieve your business breakthrough right now. Implemention Exercise #1 It starts with a metaphorical line in the sand. Your decision now to start over, but starting over with all of the experience and knowledge that you've already got, that you've gained from your previous experience. Starting over with knowing that this is the perfect time for you to commit to your success, with the decision that you will make you the most important project in your business. Now, to help you at this level draw this metaphorical line in the sand and get some clarity for the future, I've created a really sort of fun and explorative workbook for you to help you get all of this out of your head and get it down on paper. There is space for you to journal, identify action steps, look at where you are, where you want to go, track your habits, and of course, a collection of powerful quotes that you can print and put up in your office or around your home to keep you in that frequency of faith and motivation and success. And good news is, it's totally free. Grab your workbook here REMEMBER ALL 7 episodes are available to you right now. They're all short and sweet like this one. So go listen to episode number two right now.

Do you ever wonder why there are so many different opinions floating around about what we should eat, and what we shouldn't? Do you find it confusing to navigate all the different diet information and claims that are out there? Do you wonder what it is that God says about the food we eat? Today we're going to look at the biblical and historical times when there was a major dietary shift, and what effect they had, in doing so I hope to bring you some clarity about what is the perfect will, and the permissible will, of God when it comes to food. Remember All things are permissible, but not all things are beneficial. 1 Cor 10:23

Inspiration is a wonderful thing, but acting on that inspiration, if you truly feel a desire, is a different thing. Many people come to me with their dream and goal of doing their own camel trek. From talking & teaching hundreds of camel people & camel lovers I discovered these statistics: Only 10% of people will actually gain momentum on their camel trekking goals & dreams and only 1-2% will achieve their goals. It bothers me, because 9 times out of 10 it's people getting in their own way of their true desires. How do I know this…? Because I was one of these people! I believe we have inspiration and desires for a reason and they should be questioned to see where this leads us. Life is too damn short not to live out our dreams & goals don't you think!? In this Camel Channel Podcast episode I offer up some words or wisdom and practical advice on how you can achieve any camel trekking (or just ‘camel') goals & dreams. Listen in to hear some of my stories on how I became a ‘victim' to my own camel trekking dreams and how I turned that around… AND… some things you can start doing right now to start taking steps towards your ‘camel desires' (and learn if your desires are true for you & how to determine this). “In order to get to the next level of whatever you're doing, you must think and act in a wildly different way than you previously have been. You cannot get to the next phase of a project without a grander mind-set, more acceleration, and extra horsepower.” Grant Cardone, author of the 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure [i] MAKING 2022 YOUR BEST YEAR EVER: WITH CHANGE I chose this quote to launch this episode, and our 7th Season of The Neuroscience Meets SEL Podcast with Grant Cardone,[ii] who I've been watching for years before he starred on Undercover Billionaire[iii] when I saw him working with (at that time) 16 year-old Caleb Maddix[iv], teaching this young man, who is now in his 20s, how to truly make an impact on the world and live his life with a success mindset. Since the day I watched him coaching this teen, I realized he has a heart for helping our next generation to become successful, while inspiring the rest of the world with his 10x Rule book, countless programs that focus on financial education, and encouraging anyone who will listen to shift their mindset to make 2022 their Best Year ever. To do that, Cardone reminds us that we must all THINK differently and “change what we did last year.” For those new, or returning guests, welcome back to Season 7 of our Podcast and Happy New Year! I'm Andrea Samadi, author, and educator from Toronto, Canada, now in Arizona, and like many of you who tune in, have been fascinated with learning, understanding, and applying the most current brain research to improve productivity in our schools, our sports, and workplace environments. I wanted our first episode to launch our 7th Season to be different from past years. Instead of releasing an episode with goal setting or achieving tips, I challenge you to do something different this year. We all know that in order to achieve different results in 2022, we must CHANGE and I'm pretty sure we all have a list of things that we want to do differently to really make a mark on this year, but to make sure I was on track, I thought I'd better check in with what Uncover Billionaire, Grant Cardone is suggesting we change this year, since his results are proof that he knows what he's talking about. Cardone suggests in order to make this change, we must keep 6 things in mind that will drive us towards our goals. We must have: Discipline: By waking up early, watching the sunrise, and getting to bed early. This practice gives you 2 extra hours to launch your day, which translates into an extra month a year to work on your dreams or yourself. It will also help you to become highly motivated and will be a driver for your year, boosting our Confidence: To further drive what you are doing and help you to fill up your calendar with meaningful work where you will create your Action Plan with Activity: and be open to listening to Feedback: From the marketplace (or your network) on how you can improve. Surrounding Yourself with Your Network: Of other like-minded, successful people who will encourage you/holding you accountable. And there is only one outcome-- Success: This is Our Duty/Obligation. We Must WIN/SUCCEED in 2022. To truly make an impact on this year, so it's our best year ever, I think we should all take a look at what Cardone suggests and do whatever it takes so that we achieve our end result (or whatever it is we are working on) at the end of this year. But how exactly do we do this? Make 2022 Your Best Year Ever by Studying the Best-Selling book Think and Grow Rich[v] I challenge you to practice Cardone's TIP #1 with me, and develop discipline by waking up early, and study the #6th All-time Amazon Best-Seller, Think and Grow Rich with me this month. This is a book that has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, that has timeless principles used by some of the greatest minds of the 20th century, and I hope that together, we will uncover some new ideas that will bring us all new results in 2022. I've been launching my year this way since 2019, with Paul Martinelli, who co-founded and built The John Maxwell Team[vi], by diving deep into the many secrets within Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich book from someone who has studied and taught the principles within this book for his entire career. It was this book, that my mentor Bob Proctor[vii] was inspired by, and often opened up and quoted during his career teaching and speaking about wealth principles around the world, as he carried the same weathered copy around with him, reading, studying, as his bible, that he would open up first thing in the morning, and then again before he went to bed. During the six years I worked with Bob, I knew this book was important to him, and there were times it sat in the middle of the table we were sitting at, and we all just knew not to touch it. I remember looking at it, thinking “what else could he really be learning from this book?” as the pages looked like they were about to fall out, and disintegrate. Napoleon Hill talks about a “secret” that is hidden within the pages of this book, and I have a few ideas of what I think the secret is. Bob would never tell us what the secret was, and would say “if I tell you, then you won't look for it yourself” which is probably true. Bob Proctor's original copy of Think and Grow Rich. I used to think that the secret was that “all achievements begin with an idea” and we just have to gaffe this idea with a pencil, write it down, and act on it, (using the 6 steps that Napoleon Hill suggests in the Desire chapter) or someone else will surely launch it. But each time I studied the book, and the author's preface, that describes this secret, I thought about it again, and each year, come up with a NEW idea or perception of what I think the “secret” is. Bob would say that books will have new meaning each time you read them because you change each year, and you see something in yourself that wasn't there the last time you read it. When you finish the book, and this book study with me, I wonder what you think the secret is in the book? HOW TO READ THINK AND GROW RICH-WITH EFFORT You've got to put some effort into this book study. It took me until 2019 to read this book properly. You know what I mean. You can read a book, flip through the table of contents, skim their meaning, grab some ideas, write them down, even apply them to your life, but then you put the book away, and don't think about the ideas ever again. This is not the way to read this book, and it wasn't until Paul Martinelli started teaching it to me, that I saw HOW to read Think and Grow Rich properly, uncovering the secret for myself, and finally putting it use, the way I think Napoleon Hill intended. I think. If Bob has been studying this book for more than 50 years (reading it twice a day), then I think I'm only scratching the surface of how it's intended to be read and applied. KEEP THE BOOK ON YOUR DESK SO THAT YOU READ AND IMPLEMENT THE IDEAS YOU LEARN This book is always on my desk and opened often and I do highly suggest that you purchase a copy that you keep on your desk so you can refer to the pages on your own, and participate in the activities that I will suggest as we go through the important concepts of these 16 principles that really do have incredible power. I put a tab so I can quickly find the 6 steps to put any idea on auto-suggestion from the DESIRE Chapter (they are also written on my wall) and I practice them daily, and know all about the 30 Major Causes of Failure (so I can avoid them) in the Organized Planning Chapter, with my own #31 added to the end. It was the successful founder of US Steel (the first corporation in the world with a market capitalization of over $1 billion, Andrew Carnegie,[viii] who encouraged the young reporter and author of the book, Napoleon Hill, to uncover why some of the most successful people in the world, became that way, using the principles that Hill would use to create this book. Carnegie thought it was a shame that many of the top leaders in the world, like Thomas Edison or Henry Ford, would go to their grave without sharing their knowledge and success strategies to help others. This book will change your thinking, open up the door to new ideas, help you to create new habits and results. This is why I host this podcast, because like Hill, I think it's important to share the most current research, and any success strategies (for free) so that we can all benefit from this information and apply it to our work and personal lives, since we just weren't taught these concepts in school. I'm grateful that this year, I was reminded of this book by my friend Hans Ajay[ix], who let me know he was studying certain chapters to launch his year. There are many ways to study this book, to make the principles seep into your mind subconsciously, and thanks to Ajay, I decided it was time to look at my notes over the past few years and share them on the podcast to launch 2022 with a new angle. In this podcast series, I will review all chapters of Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, with my notes added, after years of study, and hope these ideas will challenge you to do things differently this year, perhaps with more intention, and that you continue to study this book for years to come. I was so excited to see that even before I had released this episode, some of my social media posts have inspired some of the top leaders in my network, like Matt Stewart,[x] from Scotland, who runs the EntrepreneurMe programs with our next generation of entrepreneurs in the school market, to consider re-reading the book this year. I hope that you will join us, so that we can all make the change needed to make 2022 our best year ever, together. In this series you will learn: ✔︎ How to apply the 15 success principles to your life, used by the most successful leaders of the 20th century like Thomas Edison, John D. Rockefeller, and Henry Ford. ✔︎ How to harness the power of your non-conscious mind, when you can create new habits, that you put on autopilot, and work for you, instead of against you. ✔︎ Create a clear vision of what you want to create in your life in 2022 to make it a year that is pivotal for the next few years to come. ✔︎ Create the mindset needed to attain this vision with a 6-step plan of how to do it. Try something new this year and see if diving deep with me into the pages of Think and Grow Rich can make a difference for you, like it has made for millions of people all over the world, who have taken the principles seriously. THINK AND GROW RICH PART 1: INTRODUCTION/THOUGHTS ARE THINGS/ Author's Preface and Introduction “What Exactly is The Secret?” The book begins with the mention of this money-making “secret” that's contained within the book's pages and how Carnegie believed this “secret” should be taught in all schools and colleges and if it were taught properly would “revolutionize the entire educational system and that the time spent in school could be reduced to less than half.” (vi, Think and Grow Rich, 2003 edition). As you read through this book, you'll be reminded of this secret in the pages that jump out at you and every chapter mentions it. I first thought this “secret” was that we must have an idea, and write it down, something that we really want. Then I thought about the VERY first thing Bob Proctor said to me when he met me was after finding out I was a school teacher, in Toronto, and he asked me “What I Really Wanted” to do with my life, and back then, the late 1990s, I definitely didn't have a clear picture of my goals written out to go through with him step by step (like I do now). I was taken back a bit, because no one ever asked me anything like this before. Hill says that “the secret will stand out to you when you are ready for it” and when it appears, you will recognize it. I didn't have a clear picture of what I wanted back then but do now. If you've been following this podcast, you'll agree that it's clear that I want to make an impact on the field of education by bringing together simple neuroscience, with social and emotional learning skills, to help make life easier for future generations with these evidence-based strategies. I wrote down that I wanted to become an expert in the field of educational neuroscience years before I had taken a neuroscience course or understood the structure and function of the brain. I would never have gone on a podcast back then sharing my vision with the world and if you were sitting next to me, and this was written in my notebook, I'm sure I would never let you see that I had written that and might even hide it from anyone who might be looking. Does this resonate with you? What do you think? Where are YOU in this process of what you REALLY want? Can you paint a clear picture of it for anyone who asks? If you look at the image in the show notes (sorry I didn't write neater, I didn't think I would ever share these notes) you will see that we must first THINK to create an IDEA. Hill called the book Think and Grow Rich, and if there is a secret in this book, I now think it's that “there's work required, to actually think” and begin this entire process. If you aren't sure of what your vision is, and it's not yet clear, then sit quietly somewhere and use your imagination and intuition to think for a while. Stuck With Your Vision? Ask Yourself These Questions: What do others say you are good at? What do you enjoy doing that you would do even if you weren't paid for it. Think of an area of life where you are dissatisfied. How would you like this area to improve? It's normal to want to be, do, have more in your life so that you can extend your services and help more people with your services. You can't see your own potential, but you can be made aware of it. I think it's really important to tell people where they are excelling in life, so they know what you see, that they might not be able to see themselves. Once you have a vision, write it down and follow these steps for: Applying the Power of Thought: What's your VISION? If I was to ask you “what do you really want?” would you be able to describe your plan clearly and confidently to me? Or would you hesitate, like I did when Proctor first asked me this question. Do you have CLARITY around this vision? It's not an accident that Brendon Burchard, author of the New York Times Best Seller, High-Performance Habits, found that CLARITY[xi] was one of the habits that research found moved the needle more than any of the other habits for those who are high-performers vs non-performers, meaning that when you have clarity, you are more likely to make decisions that support your vision. Become crystal clear about who you are, and what you want, and you will be able to answer this question quickly and with confidence. The clearer your vision, the less doubt, fear and confusion you will have. What's your BELIEF around your vision? Your belief will drive your behavior and help get you out of bed in the morning and keep moving towards what you envision. Do you believe that you will receive your vision? Are you ready/prepared for it? When you are laser focused on your vision, it will be all that you can see. I talked about “Using the Reticular Activating System to Set Your Intent and Achieve it”[xii] earlier this year, that explains how there is a part of our brain (RAS) that will help you to achieve whatever it is that you are focused on (good or bad) so you might as well use this part of your brain to your advantage. Do you EXPECT that your vision will come true? Expectation hooks you up with what you want and brings it closer to you. Have you ever heard that what you seek, is also seeking you? You will move towards it, and it will move towards you. Remember—you can be hooked up to what you want, but if you don't expect it, you won't bring it towards you. You also cannot force this, or it will not come. Force negates. You seek something first, then it seeks you. What is your vision? What is your goal? Are you prepared? There is no such thing as something for nothing. You must do the work. Be sure to review EPISODE #67[xiii] on “Expanding Your Awareness with Lessons Learned from Bob Proctor's Seminars” especially with BIG IDEA #5 how we bring an idea from our mind (spiritual realm) and bring it to fruition (physical realm) actually making it happen. When I asked Bob about the quantum world that Dr. Dan Siegel[xiv] talks about in our interview, where there is this plane of possibility where we can create anything, Bob answered with “I believe the physical realm that we live in and the spiritual world, are all connected, like the colors of the rainbow.” When we take an idea, it comes in from spirit, hits our intellectual mind, and it's up to us whether we move it into form. Have you ever had an idea that you thought was brilliant, and you never did anything with it, and then suddenly you see someone else has created it? That's because there is only one mind, and that we can all tap into these ideas. This is how ALL ideas happen. They start in the mind of the person who creates it, and then after dedicated work, they hit their target, and people watching might say “Oh wow, that person is so lucky” not realizing the work that went into the attainment of the goal. There are usually years of hard work, persistence, of failures, wrong turns, course corrections, but all starting with that clear vision or idea with an end goal or target. “Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.” How? Over time, we become better at what we do. Never let it rest, until we perfect our craft. Keep going and remember “if a person is not prepared when the opportunity arises, it will only make them look foolish.” (Earl Nightingale). HOW TO CREATE YOUR VISION FOR AN IMPROVED 2022: To review the INTRO and CHAPTER 1 of Think and Grow Rich, remember that to achieve NEW results in 2022, we must do something differently than we did in prior years. I hope that you continue to listen to this deep dive into Think and Grow Rich, and wake up early, with me, improving our discipline and confidence levels with this new habit. EXAMPLE of ANDREA'S VISION: Grant Cardone reminds us that “Average is a Failing Formula.” (page 70 10x Rule) and he suggests that we write our goals down in the morning/night as if we have already achieved them. Here's my FIRST vision of wanting to become an expert in educational neuroscience from January 2019, 6 months before I launched this podcast. I hadn't even bought the new template for my website when I wrote this and was going to call the podcast Social and Emotional Learning Meets Neuroscience. I had no idea where this idea would lead to, but knew whatever it was, that it needed to have Neuroscience and SEL meshed together somehow. Figure out what it is that you REALLY want, something that's much bigger than you, (that you might not want others to see because it's so big to you) and then believe that you can have it. When I wrote this, I had no idea this podcast was going to become the top Top 15 Best SEL Podcasts for 2021, and Top 20 Best Neuroscience Podcasts for 2021 and would feature some of the leading experts in neuroscience, education and the brain, but I believed this vision was possible even when I didn't know what an RSS feed was (that I now know drives ALL podcasts out to the world). What's YOUR vision? Do you have it written down? Did this episode give you some ideas on making 2022 your best year ever? Please do what Matt did and take a picture of you studying with me and let me know you have learned. It will help motivate others to do the same. Remember: “All achievements begin with an idea.” (Napoleon Hill) and then you expand and refine your ideas as you progress towards them. I'll see you in the next couple of days where we will move onto DESIRE, FAITH and THE 6th SENSE. Episode discussion topics We put the spotlight back onto the media and the niche-filled mess that has proliferated among the feeds of our internet of things. As citizens in a freedom-loving republic, we need to be vigilant of our information diet. Bias and creating an angle on any given piece of information in order to formulate a TV-ready story-bite is big business now. It always has been really, but now we also have to contend with a massive democratization of sources available to us through all the various platforms on our computers and phones. Not all sources are created equal although you may want to believe it, that does not make it right or true. What is corruption in media? Planting and growing bias with the aim of creating profitable niches at the cost of truly relevant and valuable content. Also, media companies tend to be in the business of aiding and abetting political figures for the purposes of securing future gains or consideration. As old a practice as the art of propaganda. Be on guard. Only you can have a balanced diet of information and understanding how to assess bias or angles like we need to understand food labels. Honestly, finding bias might even be more intuitive than reading nutrition labels. You need to treat your media like a 7-layer nacho dip, a little perspective from each of all the layers to triangulate on the truth where the facts lay. Don't only have one source of information. Detect and know the bias or angle of the sources you use and select multiple sources in order to compare, somewhere between the lines is the relative truth of the matter. Every story has two sides or more! Remember: All news is best served with a side of fact and facts are a dish best served cold. Stone cold truths are the most truthful of truths. Calls to Action: All of life is a soup. Keep your shields up, sample a lot with your sensors, and trust but verify anything you think is information. MVP loves his friends, even more, when they check his neuron misfirings. No one is right all of the time. We have to remain open to new information and to changes in understanding or perspective. Freedom of the press is a constitutional right and high-quality journalism is important, facts matter, and so does verifiable reality. Diversify your media intake and look for independent journalism to support. DIVERSITY CHALLENGE: Do not only consume sources that confirm your existing beliefs! You need to have a balanced information diet, so add in views from another side or perspective for every source you agree with. Check your sources and find specific information using commands that are specific to your search engine. We have provided some helpful links below for resources on multiple engines: Google Support Article, "Refine web searches" Comparison of Advanced Search Operators for Yahoo, Bing and Google from "The Association of Internet Research Specialists," name sounds spooky. Sheila Gregoire joins Amber to discuss some of the harmful messages many popular Christian books have put out when it comes to sex, intimacy, and a man's need versus a woman's need. We also discuss her new book The Great Sex Rescue. Questions Sheila and I Discuss: (3:34) Tell us a little about The Bare Marriage survey and what led you to embark on such a survey. (6:05) What would you say is one of the most damaging, widely held beliefs about sex and marriage in evangelical culture that is actually preventing us from fully engaging in sex as God intended? (12:15) Let's talk about sex and intimacy. What are the dangers of using those terms interchangeably? (13:58) We're teaching young boys and young girls to it basically places blame back on young girls, you be modest. Because if you're not, you're causing him to be tempted and to lust. What's the mixed message there? (18:02) In The Bare Marriage survey was "I didn't want to be naked in front of him" common response that may be related to the popular modesty discussion? (23:16) What needs to be the message we share with young Christian kids and young Christian adults to shift their mindset from what sex is intended for, compared to their previous experience or what they were taught in youth group? (26:16) Share about the dangers of duty sex. (31:03) Talk about communication between spouses being the key to good sex. (36:05) You say that the harmful beliefs you measured are common beliefs in the evangelical world, but you wouldn't necessarily call them Christian beliefs. What would you say ARE Christian beliefs about sex? (38:27) What do you hope The Great Sex Rescue accomplishes for Christians and their view of sex? Quotes to Remember: "All kinds of these books [Christian marriage books] talk about sex in terms of men's release, something that men need and that is just not the way the Bible talks about it....When we see it as something that men need, and women don't, then we can easily think all that's important during sex is that he gets release, and our experience doesn't even matter." "I think that's why God uses sexual imagery to talk about His relationship with us. It's to tell us that sex is not just physical. It's a deep, intimate knowing, it's when you become totally vulnerable with one another in every way, and that is God's design for sex." "We know from the Song of Solomon, that sex is also something which is really pleasurable for both people. It was never meant just for a man's release. It was meant for a woman's pleasure, as well." MINDFULNESS – THE ETERNAL NOW I would like to talk about the practice of mindfulness today which is something practised by people of many belief systems. However I am starting with a Scripture that speaks about God’s mindfulness towards us, because that is where mindfulness originally came from . Hebrews 2:6 What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him? (This speaks to all of us (mankind) and also Jesus (Son of Man)The root word for mindful in that Scripture is mnaomai (the idea of fixture in the mind - a mental grasp). So how is Mindfulness to be applied in practice?Mindfulness can be described as the practice of paying attention, with an intention, and in the present moment. People in our Western culture have been engaging in the practice of mindfulness for some years now. It is a discipline that helps people to stop anxious or distracting thoughts from coming into the mind, helping them to appreciate and pay attention to what is central to them in their here and now experiences and in the inner space of what is meaningful in their life. People use mindfulness as a tool for sharpening their focus of attention and efficiency in doing productive things or for engaging in leisure or creative skills, and also as a form of emotional therapy for staying calm in times of stress. It has generally become a psychological discipline that is useful for finding some order in a busy and agitated world. That is well and good and helpful but it does not reach the highest goal of conscious mindfulness that God has prepared for us. Our mindfulness of God does more than just help us to pay attention to the inner space of what is meaningful in our life, it puts us in touch with the source of all meaning in our life, God himself. So we have seen that it was God who invented the practice of mindfulness and we can see that he is focussing his full attention upon us with an intention of seeing us becoming the person we were created to be from eternity, and he has the attention, the intention and the eternal now, his present moment. And he wants us to get to know him and also to know that we are known by him, and can communicate with him at a level of close and intimate relationship – so it is a two way thing - God starts the process of mindfulness towards us and invites us to respond. And right there begins a divine process of inner wholeness and transformation. (Romans 12:2 - being transformed by the renewing of the mind). So What becomes transformed? – it is more than just behaviour - it is the consciousness of who we really are in union with God through Jesus. This consciousness is what captures the present moment and It fills the now with it’s fulness and focus. It is not simply hanging around in the background somewhere – It is front and centre in the mind. It becomes the eternal Now of our existence – always active. God wants us to know that we are known. God wants to help us locate that known self within himself in us – that is our inner source of power and love- the treasure in the earthen vessel. That is the wellspring, the fountain of living water. We can’t find it on our own, we are taken there by the Holy Spirit. John 16:14 he takes of what Jesus has said and of who Jesus is and reveals it to us. He takes us on this journey of mindful focus and intention. The Holy Spirit hears the cry of our heart to the Father which says;I want to know someone who really knows me and can help me find who I really am and who understands how I feel so that I can be who I really should be. That is powerful – and that is why David exclaimed ‘What IS man that you are mindful of him – are you that interested and focussed? Our life (as part of the human race, created to be part of God’s family) is about knowing God and becoming KNOWN! – Known of God; Galatians 4.9. But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world(how can you lose that focus and get bound up in the darkness etc of the world) Being really heard is being really knownWhen a person really feels heard they are tremendously grateful. They feel like saying – ‘how wonderful to know that someone is beginning to understand what it is like to be me’ Can you imagine God feeling like this about us? God says; ‘how wonderful to know that someone is beginning to understand what it is like to know me and to be KNOWN by me’ This is how we feel when we understand that God is always being mindful of us and that we are known by him in all things. Can you imagine that God is hearing you and that he understands what it feels like to be you? That is the work of the Holy Spirit who knew what it felt like to be Jesus as a human being just as Holy Spirit knows us as a person in everything that we feel and understand. He hears the outpouring of our own inner conflicts, our self-defeating attitudes, and our harmful or careless relational conduct towards others. We have to know we are being heard without being judged, condemned, rejected or even evaluated for performance. This is because we are serious about knowing God.When we begin to understand this and believe this that we are known like this we are entering into a healing dazzling light where our darkness can be conquered. Entering into this two way mindfulness with God is our wrestle with God and with ourselves. Just as Jacob wrestled with God who was in the form of an angel, at a time when he was wondering what his life had been all about, and where was it going in the future. Jacob had been cheating and competing all his life, even trying to beat his twin brother out of the womb, and he ended up cheating him out of his patriarchal inheritance, and he had cheated his father in law out of the best of his cattle. But now he was heading for an encounter with his brother Esau who was on his way to meet up with him – and he was very very worried. Jacob engaged in that wrestle with God that God had set up and this wrestle was the time set for Jacob to come to terms with himself and who he was and to come to terms with God – and he said; ‘I won’t let you go until you bless me’, we enter into the same kind of wrestle with the same kind of feelings and with a heart of saying ‘I won’t let you go until you bless me’. I want to know who you know I am.Jacob was given another name by God after that wrestle. It was Israel. It means ‘you have prevailed with God’ – that means he stayed the distance and endured and hung on to God no matter what is cost him. It was an eternal Now moment for Jacob’s destiny. That is the story of inner transformation because in this encounter he actually prevailed against himself in his own inner being. He was touched by God on his thigh and his hip was put out of joint in the wrestle, and from then on he walked with a limp. That was the outward sign of his newfound vulnerability and humility. He was a changed man. He was known of God and he knew himself. The word for mindful (Mnaomai)in the Scripture comes from the same root word as ‘abiding’ -(meno).Meno - to stay (in a given place, state of expectancy): — abide, continue, to be present, That is what it means to abide in Him. Jesus said to his disciples and to us;John 15:4 Abide in me, and I will abide in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you abide in me.“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me (are ever being mindful of me), and I in them (ever being mindful of them), will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. So this abiding, or mindfulness, is always a present moment experience. You cannot be present yesterday, or tomorrow – only now – the eternal Now. Mutual mindfulness between God and us is our eternal destiny. Or does God want us to live eternally in a chaotic conflicted life here on earth? It is a creation at war with itself when you see the destructive storms, earthquakes, animals killing each other, and killing people, and people killing people and bacteria and virus destroying populations. This will not be the case in eternity – no more sorrow no more tears no more death. BUT Jesus said that in this world we would have tribulation, pain, suffering, conflict, but he said ‘be of good cheer, let a supernatural joy fill your life in the midst of all these things – I have overcome the world. That is what it means – That is the outworking of our two way mindfulness with God in the here and now – that is salvation – The Bible says we are ‘being saved’ and ‘Now is the day of salvation’ – even though Jesus did the saving two thousand years go – our faith appropriates NOW as a conscious reality. We can arrive at a place of faith where we can say that no matter what important or momentous things are happening I my life, the biggest thing that is REALLY happening is that God is mindful of me! It is difficult to take our attention off ourselves and our struggles and practice our two way mindfulness and abiding with God.There are some things that you will find good to be mindful of at the start of each day. Remember that God is still the same. He never changes, even if yesterday everything around you changed. His mindfulness means he cannot forget you – your name is written upon the palm of his hand.Remember that his love for you is an everlasting love, and the reason you exist is because he wants to share his love with you today. Remember that he can do all things, and that nothing is impossible for him; who created you, and the Universe, just for you. Remember that he only wants the best for you, and he will surprise you with his goodness. Tell him you will not worry or be anxious today, for there is no need for that – He will make life work out for you if you let him.Remember ALL this only becomes a reality when your mindfulness of faith is operating. Outside of that is the darkness of a shadowy world where chaos and anxiety take over the mind. we can actually hear God saying this to us, ALWAYS NOW, and we can really listen, and become mindful about how God truly feels about us. When we become willing to make mindfulness of God the centre of our lives we can finally find peace within ourself. There is a peaceful harmony in being a whole person. We also find hidden aspects of self that we have denied to our awareness, and each such discovery of our shadowy self can give us uneasy and anxious moments. But we can come to terms humbly and honestly with these shortcomings knowing we are not rejected but accepted. We live like Jacob had to live with his limp humble but prevailing into a revised and changing picture of self, a challenging, sometimes disturbing, but exciting and never- ending adventure in this present life. Consider these aspects of God’s mindfulness towards us in the Scriptures Hebrews 2:6 What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him? Hebrews 13:8 ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.’ Psalm139:17 How precious are your thoughts (rêa – intentions, purposes) towards me, O God! How great is the sum of them! Isaiah 49:16 Behold, I have written your name on the palms of my hands; Jeremiah 29:11 ‘For I know the thoughts I have towards you, thoughts of good and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.’ Jeremiah 31:3 ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you to me.’ Luke 18:37 ‘There are things that are impossible for men, but with God nothing is impossible’ Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Exodus 33:14 My presence will go with you and I will give you rest, for you have found grace in my sight and I know you by name. Philippians 4:6 ‘Do not be anxious for anything, but talk to me about what your needs are, with hope and thanksgiving in your heart.’

Foundry's Summer Guest Series starts with a guest sermon from Reverend Kimberly Scott For Such A Time As This-I. It is indeed and privilege and honour that I stand before you today…For Such a time as time…A few months ago, I could imagined I’d preaching for you today Foundry…The Day following my Ordination as an Elder in Full Connection of the Desert Southwest Conference….Had some one told 10 years ago that would be standing in a virtual pulpit/ anyone virtual pulpit today I wouldn’t have believed…Preaching, teaching and being a leader CHURCH in the was never on my bucket list church….But God, has been up to something for such a time as this….A time in which so much of our lives have been put on hold due to COVID 19 PANDEMIC ….A time in which LGBTQIA folks in the UMC are faced with the reality that their promise land has seemingly disappeared over the horizon, and in now out of site…AT a time such as this that our history, our past has seeming become our new or a renewed reality……. I know this your PRIDE SUNDAY, but it would be socially irresponsible to NOT You see I understand that there are some of you, who you assumed you’d lived through worst season of racial tension, discrimination, injustice and inequality in this country…I recognize that some of lived through the Jim Crow era, the Civil Rights, Woman’s Lib and Gay and Lesbian Right Movement…AND there is at least one, generation of persons gathered here today who truly grew up believing they lived in a color blind society…Some of us thought systemic racism and homophobia was dead in this country with the election of Barack Obama, AND then there’s unfortunate reality that some gathered here today have seen the CHURCH at war with itself all your life due issues of colonialism, racism, sexism and homophobia….In other words, some of us have been waiting for TRANSFORMATION to come in in our streets, in the church and our world for way too long… We are sick and tired of being sick of creating new hash tags… So what is our call as faithful followers of a Jesus Christ who died so that all might be set FREE?What is our call as those who claim to serve a Jesus who died to set the oppressed free and so that through his Body humanity might live into the reality of the REALIZED Kin-dom of God?....I don’t have all of the answers but today text situates us in life of Esther to aid us finding our way forward…For Such A Time as thisII. The text: For Such a time as thisAlthough most of us have heard or are familiar with the famous quote for such a time as this, from the book of Esther.. Due to the fact that Esther rarely makes the lectionary many don’t know the full or context that makes that statement so profound. So let us start with who Esther is… She is a young Jewish woman, orphaned due the death of her parents. Fortunately, she is adopted by her cousin Mordecai. Mordecai serves as a courier within the Kings royal court…At this time in Bible History the Jews, God’s chosen people, are in exile. Jerusalem was conquered, its people taken in chains into Babylonian captivity. So the Jews of the diaspora have, settled and made their homes in Susa, and they are living as a recognized religious minority in the heart of the powerful Persian empire….Thus living on the margins… Thus, as an orphan and a Jewish female, Esther is a nobody among nobodies in this minority community. With her true identity kept secret, Esther first appears in the story as one of the young virgins brought into the king's harem, by her cousin Mordecai to be a possible replacements for Vashti, the banished wife of the Persian King. After a year living in the harem being trained, Esther pleases the king and is eventually crowned queen. Remember All this takes place while Esther keeps her Jewish identity thus her relation to Mordecia secret (Esth 2:10, 20). Meanwhile Mordecai he has won favor by serving the king faithfully and even preventing an assassination attempt. Somehow Mordecai’s Jewish heritage becomes known to an enemy by the of Haman. Haman is also a favored member of the King’s royal court. Yet, he is jealous of Mordecai and his standing with the king. Mordecai get into a power struggle with a Haman Mordecai refuses to bow before Haman, and this so infuriates Haman. Haman decides not only to put Mordecai to death, but also to slaughter his entire people. And he secures the king's permission to do this. Our text today in Esther 4 picks up right after Mordecai has learned of Haman's plot and he is distraught. In this distraught state, weeping, and dressed in sackcloth and ashes he shows up at the palace gate wanting to inform Esther of what’s taken place. After going back and forth with a messenger, Eventually Mordecai reveals Haman’s plot to exterminate all the, Jews…And pleads for Esther to beg for the Kings mercy to spare her people’s lives As was read in our text…When Esther first learns of Haman's plot and the threat to her people, her reaction is one of reluctance, helplessness and hopelessness. She tells Mordecai she could not approach the king without being summoned, and she could possibly face death, and besides the king has not summoned for me in thirty days, implying that she has fallen out of favor. Yet, Mordecai's is persistent and send on one last plea: “Esther, ‘Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?’” Esther 4:13-14 (NASB) III. What is this story about…Well right away we learn that the leaders of the Persian empire/ Haman, had an agenda… A racist agenda to exterminate all the Jews. We might now a little bit in this country about racist agenda to exterminate a group of people… We know a little bit AS Methodist about homophobic agenda to exterminate queer people from the church…. So we should be able to place ourselves inside this story… FOUNDRY….I need you to place yourself inside this story….FOUNDRY….I need you to place yourself inside this story…. Foundry…ESTHER…Esther you are facing the genocide of yourself your people…You are being given a difficult task….. 1. To choose action or to choose to be SILENT when your people needed her the most.2.Esther you’ve got to choose rather to confront your husband/spouse, the King, the power be, risking death simply by entering a room without being asked or to do nothing and continue to live a plus life as the Queen Esther. 3. Esther you can choose to plead with your husband/spouse the king, to stop this ethnic cleansing or to do nothing. 4. Esther you can save yourself and your people or you can do nothing. So secondly this is narrative about choice and free will?God always give use Choices right……Since the beginning…. Now..When we reflect on Esther’s life, who she was, where she had come from and then read 13-15 it can easily come across as Mordecai scolded her focus self-preservation In others words we might take it as MORDECAI calling her out for being selfish..…But listen….Let’s read the text again… Do not think that because you are in the King’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. More than any other thing the word that sticks out to me…Is the phrase…For if you remain SILENT time this….For if you remain silent this time HERE Mordecai catches ESTHER’s attention by clueing her in to the bigger picture…the broader context of who she is.. He essentially say her, although it feels LIKE you have arrived- You have not made it to your promise land because your in the King’s palace living a lavish life DON”T forget …You are still a JEW..….Mordecia is saying…Esther your LIFE is not simply about YOU…But about us……You did not make it to this PALACE: for yourself or by yourself or because of yourself..So, don’t to comfortable yet…WE-a collective WE are not arrived at your promise land..If you remain silent at this time and focus on yourself…Eventually relief will come to our people by you and your family will die…. In speaking these words to Esther…Mordecai draws her away from the needs of self and self-preservation to a sense of connectivism and into to the UNBUTU spirit.. I am BECAUSE you are…You are BECAUSE I amHe reminds her she had been CHOSEN for this TIME to set ASIDE her own interests, goals and desire to let go of her own ambitions, and face their common foe full-on.And how does Esther reply…him. With that message Esther is inspired….No she is compelled to take control…To act quickly in this crisis to save her people in the midst of the threat of death… She is obediently, faithful.. she is a team player….Eshter goes on to be the savior of her people….She was indeed call for Such a time as this…. She was called to risk her life and her legacy with no guarantees of a positive outcome. Just on faith and Goodwill… That’s the “for such a time as this” Mordecai challenged Esther to accept. And that’s the “for such a time as this” God also sets before you and me… So what do we learn from Esther? So what is Esther teaching here?First, this is call to not be SILENT when a CRISIS arise amongst our people..When we see harm being done..When injustice in present…In our world…In our churches… Over the last week, we’ve all heard the stories about people all over the world reacting with protest, riots and marches due to the George Floyd case….AND to BE quite I honest I really wrestled with my own response the first few days because quite frankly I was scared… I was scared about being hurt, arrested, being in the wrong place at the wrong time….Pause…And then across the screen flashed on a protestors sign….Silence = Violence…. Silence = Compliance… …Riots are the voice of the unheard….. And then the kicker…In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of FRIEND…I instantly felt convicted like I should be doing something…I took it as my call to stop sitting on the sidelines and to become a part of the solution….So wrapped up in Esther’s is a call, is Esther teaching us to use our voice to…To give encourage us …To give us courage AND The power to speak FREEDOM for the captive…For the oppressed…-Freedom is the call to a protect LIFE of via the ACT of love, TO SPEAK words of FREEDOM is to BRING ALL TO A PLACE OF wholeness and abundance… ---The call to speak of freedom and speak freedom into EXISTENCE for others , challenges evil, destructiveness, oppression, violence, decay, and defeats death….. AND this INDEED Good news! So-How do we speak of freedom in a world suffering? - We must be A voices for the voiceless…To speak NEW truth to power..Because next in our text, There ESTHER’s story models for us how to live OUT OUR CALL AND to put the community and God’s Kin-Dom building work ahead of our self-seeking ambition..Imagine that…God has given each of us a job/careers, resources, education and influence…. God has opened doors and given each of us opportunities for God’s Kin-Dom purposes. God didn’t create us to just sit back and live a lavish life not focused on the world around us. The more resources and privilege we have the more WE have that belongS to God… As Luke 12:48 teaches to whom much is given much is required…BECAUSE God placed us where we ARE today to literally be apart of building UP a NEW WORLD… PAUSEI had the privilege of attending the Iliff School of Theology at time when the late Dr. Vincent Harding was there…Dr. Harding assisted in the writing of many of Martin Luther King Jr. speeches….IN his experience walking beside and working with KING he was inspired to write a song sung to the tune of we are climbing Jacobs ladder, titled…We Are Building Up A New World….That is the song I lead in with today before the prayer…VINCENT HARDING charged us at Iliff to take seriously our responsibility at Building Up A New World…To take seriously our Kind-Dom building responsibility…THUS…Today we are in the midst of KinDom battle…The enemy would love to have it’s way by distracting us and having us be continue to be inwardly focused on the all things that matter to us…But God didn’t build us that way…GOD BUILT us to BE IN COMMUNITY….Esther could have easily continued to live the lavish LIFE in the King’s palace and let whatever happen to her people just happen…But she would have most certainly have missed her Kin-Dom Calling and an entire nation would have been lost…Instead an entire nation was grateful for how Esther responded to Mordecai’s REQUEST. Their lives were spared. How many lives matter to you? Who’s lives truly manner to you… How have you shown it…. I answered my call to ministry at a time I was mad at God the church for all the harm I had a experienced and openly queer lay person who faithfully served the church….But God said kin stop whining and crying about how horrible the church has been to you and God and be a part of changes the church, because are not the only one who has been harmed or being harmed by the church…..And that’s how convinced me of my first for such a time as this moment…. To leave behind, my church, my family and my career…You see as school counselor for 10 in las Vegas, NV I had witness LGBTQIA youth being harmed by due to the LDS, BAPTIST, CHURCH OF GOD upbringing to name a few.I saw countless numbers of students in and out of treatment center, some end up runaways and others victims of suicide….I know It is no mistake that the first Sermon God laid on my heart, An Untimely Commissioning to Speak, Just Might Save the Life of Nation or A People…With that sermon based on Moses calls story ..God was calling me new life of work….To save I believe a generation of LGBTQIA young people of Faith…….FOUNDRY it’s not just by chance that less than a year AGO today I met your PASTOR and we would do some really HARD, UGLY, GRIMEY work together in our fight LGBTIA liberation in the UMC…..It is not just by chance that the day after my ordination God has placed me an An openly QUEER/MARRIED, African American in before and placed it in my spirit to preach to proclaim For Such A Time as this because to the TIME IS Now….The time is NOW…My life, my ministry has been filled with taking risk… Foundry you are being called to LIVE as IF your loved ones lives are AT RISK..You are being CALLED to live as if you loved lives are at risk… As if those nearest and dearest to you are the ones facing extermination …Extermination from the church because they are LGBTQIA…. As if those who are nearest and dearest to you are the one being fed the crumbs from the table of a crumbling church… You are being CALLED to live as if you loved lives are at risk… As if those nearest and dearest to you are facing or EXECUTION in the street because of the color of their skin.. So many black and brown lives could spared in the world today if today if we’d ALL choose to step up to service, to speak out against racism and police brutality And to fight for legislative and policy changes even if it involves sacrifice, of our money time, gift and talents…So many QUEER and TRANSPERSONS lives and MINISTRY could be speared more of us would choose to step up the mic and SPEAK out, Us their resources and political influence to find a way FORWARD to CREATE the church that JESUS died to build…Finally…. Esther is teaching us here that our call to act is on God’s watch…God’s time not ours…Esther got the call for Mordecai and responded urgently.. Was the call timely? NO…In fact, it didn’t make human sense to Esther I’m sure. She was sure she had finally arrived.. She was sure she had finally become SOMEBODY..Of high stature esteem and respect………Yet Esther was obedient to the call… She used her privilege ..She sacrifice herself for the sake of others…For the sake of her people…How many times have received a call to be apart of something that would have caused you to make a sacrifice and you said…Oh no, not this at moment, this is terrible timing?….Or perhaps this is not my time… OR I’ve done all that I can do…I’ll leave it to the next generation to figure out……We are just prolonging our collective suffering….We are prolonging the the Kin-Dom reality the God so desperately wants us to experience…We are prolonging bringing an end to SUFFERING, INJUSTICE and OPPRESSION..… We have been called to be the ones to free the oppressed recover sight to the blind..… AND to bring about love, peace, and justice today for the transformation of the WORLD today in the hear now… Who are WE waiting ON to do our work for us? Let us not delay the Kingdom building any longer…. We have been called….For such a time as this. Because the time is now…… Let us pray….….We stand in awe of your timing, yet we have gathered together today embracing it… Because as the song goes, all we have is now; To be faithful, To be holy And to shine lighting up the darkness.. For Such a time as this we were placed upon the earthto hear the voice of God And do God will will… For such a time as this we stand in awe Oh God for how you’ve readied us for your service , for how you commission us for your service at your pace. … Oh God although the mystery of your timing seems to evade us, God in your timeliness and in your way you brought us here together from places near and fear, through many dangers seen and unseen, from many different life experiences, paths, cultures and social location and united as the Body. Yet, we must also confess oh God we have left much undone…We have not adequality to proclaimed good news to the poor. We have not adequately proclaimed liberty to the captives and allowed the blind to see, We have not adequality free oppressed, Continue to equip us in YOUR of work of Kin-DOM building… Help us oh God continue to build your kingdom of justice, peace fueled the passionate love of you oh God, self and neighbor. Empower us to see through your eye the inequalities of the world and in holy frustration be the change we want to see in our world. Let us no longer allow for injustices and evils that that rob so many of their future. Eternal God And above all, fill us with your Spirit and your Holy boldness…. That we might look to hours, days, and years ahead with hope, determination for such a time as this, because the TIME is NOW! https://foundryumc.org/

Introduction American stock markets fell 15% in just a few days, one of the worst weeks in history for the markets. More cases of the virus are appearing in countries around the globe, many with no known connection to travel to infected countries or visits with people known to be infected. Is this a repeat of the Spanish flu where millions were killed globally? Are we headed to a major recession, or even a repeat of the Great Depression of 1929? That is the subject of today’s 10-minute episode. Continuing Let’s start out with the core of what is happening: The economic damage will be widespread and will take months to resolve. But it is the very steps that need to be taken to contain the virus that are causing the economic harm. For example, China, a source of much of the world’s finished goods as well as necessary components, correctly shut down entire factories and whole cities. The same with another example country, South Korea. And both countries represent strong consumer bases, and much consumer activity in both countries has been disrupted. Some purchases, like a car or a new smartphone, will be simply postponed. Other purchases, e.g. going out to eat or to a movie, are lost forever. No one is going to double or triple up on their entertainment once the concern about the coronavirus has passed. The needed containment measures; quarantine, travel restrictions, factory and city shutdowns, appear to be working where they have been in force for a while. For example, China reports that the number of new cases is diminishing, and factories are slowly re-opening. In other areas, the second wave of the virus if you will, the US and Europe for example, these closures and quarantines may be just beginning. Schools could be closed; sporting events played with no crowds allowed. Air travel, already restricted by regulation and personal choice, could be further reduced. Near empty restaurants, sparsely visited tourist spots, hotels reducing rates in the hopes of attracting guests. Remember: All of these must-do containment measures will cause real economic damage. But better the economic hardships than more worldwide illness and death. Let’s take a moment to put the virus-related stock market losses into perspective. The coronavirus-related 15% decline is reminiscent of what has happened in the recent past. The Zika virus in 2015-6, prompted a 13% decline. SARS (remember SARS?) in 2003, also triggered a 13% fall. Other points to consider: The US economy is fundamentally very sound, robust, in fact. There is no fear at all of something like the coronavirus revealing underlying weaknesses. Central Banks, including the US Federal Reserve, have announced their intention to use monetary policy authority, specifically lowering interest rates, to stimulate the economy if need be during this downturn. Today’s Key Point: The underlying weakness in the US, our country, America, is not the economy, it is not an inadequate response to various crises, including this one. The underlying weakness is that we politicize everything; sports, the Supreme Court, successes like a good economy, Thanksgiving, threats like potential pandemics--pretty much everything. Here is my question for you. Could we come up with dramatically better ways to handle crises, like the current coronavirus crisis, if we all worked together, rather than taking this disaster as an opportunity to score political points? In WWII, political leaders and citizens of all ideologies forgot their differences to face--and defeat--the enemy. Why can’t we do that any more? And how is it that some of the very same leaders who claim often and loudly that the coronavirus represents a near-existential threat, are the ones who are sitting on their hands while claiming that others are whistling past the graveyard. Shame on our leaders for not buckling down, forgetting their egos and party loyalties,

So much plot and character development! What happened that's got both of us feeling bad for characters we don't care for? What's Podrick's secret? Remember: All men must die, BUT WE ARE NOT MEN! Recorded at Good For You Productions.
Remember All-of-a-Kind Family? It's the classic chapter book by Sydney Taylor, of five sisters living on the Lower East Side in the early 20th century. Now Emily Jenkins and Paul O. Zelinsky have created an original picture book based on those same characters, All-of-a-Kind Family Hanukkah. Illustrator Zelinsky attended the 2018 Association of Jewish Libraries conference where he gave us a sneak peek at his artistic process, as you can see in the photo above. I snagged his email address and arranged a conference call with him and author Emily Jenkins, and that's what you'll hear on this podcast. HANUKKAH TREATS FOR YOU: * Buzzfeed Quiz: Which All-of-a-Kind Family Sibling Are You? * Emily Jenkins' latke recipe * Coloring pages based on Paul Zelinsky's art * Teaching Guide for All-of-a-Kind Family Hanukkah
It's extremely worrying to be writing about a videogame lawyer. If we get anything wrong about them then we could be sued for our Marioke Millions, it's why we've avoided having Phoenix Wright on the show. Luckily this week's Super-Special Guest, Tim Davies from Sheridans, set the bar (clever wording we know, cheers) for being a good lawyer so we took the opportunity to ask him lots of purely theoretical questions that we have to legally state we were not asking for a friend. We manage to cover loot boxes, found out which publishers are good for developers, and when can you legally shake a client. Ann is still a bit poorly, but this time it seems to be because she licked that Switch cartridge last week. Remember: All of Team OLL are professional trained cartridge lickers, things can go wrong. Please, don't try this at home. Do it outside of the home, as the Switch can be a portable console. Ann is away next week (this is unconnected to the cartridge licking), so if you fancy being an SSG that week (or any other Monday) then drop us a line at the usual address. As well as all that we had Simon coming to the studio all fresh after a hair cut, we came up with a great non-IP infringing idea, and Ste found out what the kids know about videogames. Cheerio! It’s not like we’re talking to co-workers or other people and asking how many times a day we’re pooping so many of us don’t realize what normal looks like. Many of us are taught that “potty talk” is inappropriate and even though I talk about digestion I still don’t like my girls using the word FART! Eww..gross! See? SO many of us aren’t addressing our digestive issues or even aware we have a problem. So let’s start those conversations now. So what is constipation? Regularly having infrequent bowel movements. What is frequent? 1 to 3 times a day is good but two to three is ideal depending on how much you at that day. Think about it? You eat, your body takes what it needs from the food, and the rest is waste. You don’t want that waste staying in the body longer than it has to. Let me start with a story. In episode 1 I mentioned I was looking for love in all the wrong places and it wasn’t that my boyfriends were bad but depending on them for acceptance and belonging isn’t healthy. I became close to my boyfriend’s family after my dad died and looked for a place to belong. I was living in Corpus Christi and had no other family. I even moved in with my boyfriend’s family at one point. He and his brother had a separate little apartment in the back of their parents’ house. Guess where the bathroom was? In his brother’s room! Imagine two college-age guys with girlfriends. They want their privacy! So his brother would lock his door after a certain time so I just didn’t go because I didn’t want to go into his parents’ house. It wasn’t good. The pain got really bad and I had to go to the ER. I will never forget the nurse’s reaction when she looked at my X-ray. “Ok, now honey...look...you’re just full of shit. That’s your problem!” I was like “Oh my God...how embarrassing.” So yeah, I really was full of it. I never liked using public restrooms since I was a kid. I would hold it all day during school and it affected my digestion. Even stress, diet, lack of movement can lead up to constipation. So now that I’ve shared some of my embarrassing stories about constipation, let’s go over some other signs of constipation. Signs of Constipation Infrequent Bowel Movements Straining to pass stools Incomplete stools Magazines in the bathroom - You probably remember your dad or someone staying in the restroom FOREVER with reading material. This is not the place for leisure reading! This is 40 Movie - Paul Rudd - sitting on the toilet with his device in his hand hunched over reading it. FOCUS! Git r done and get out of there. You may be listening to this right now in the bathroom! I had to break myself of this when I noticed my girls were taking devices with them. Ideal Potty Experience 1 to 2 stools a day, preferably 2 to 3 Low odor - Can be slight but shouldn’t be too strong Medium brown in color - can vary depending on some foods Long, log-like pieces No straining No time for social media scrolling! Focus and Finish! Squatty Potty is an awesome invention that helps your poop and potty protocol. It goes up against your toilet to allow you to have your feet up higher and in a better position for pooping. You want to be up nice and straight so your colon isn’t kinked. Before toilets, people would squat and some still do. Like in camping when you “cop a squat”. The link is below. Check it out! It’s all about true holistic health so other things may be contributing to your digestion. Stress is a big one and it can affect this as well. Health begins in the gut. We’re exposed to environmental toxins even when we’re careful and holding it, and lack of movement (especially at a desk job) affect us as well. If you’re working at a desk: Make yourself take a break and get up from your desk Walk around for a few minutes Stretch and undo some of that sitting position Try taking the stairs if that’s an option Keep water at your desk so it’s in view Think about the amount of time you’re sedentary throughout the day. It adds up! Things to try in the mornings to get things moving and have more energy Drink warm water with lemon first thing in the am before your coffee Fit in some squats and stretches before getting ready and heading out the door Try some of those things and see what helps. Listen to your body, become your own health advocate, and work with your health professional to achieve optimal health. Be mindful of just doing a detox or cleanse. Depending on how toxic our body and organs are we can actually get backed up if we’re not using the proper protocols. If it’s a quick fix it’s not going to be sustainable. You may lose some weight in the beginning because you’re losing toxins but in the long run you need to keep asking why and go upstream for each symptom and get to the root for sustainable change. Take the time to find out what’s going on with your body and WHY so you can take the best approach. I’ll put links to some great book below as a starting point. I hope you learned something today. If you’re not constipated...congratulations! You’re a huge step ahead of many people. Our SAD (Standard American Diet) leads to many symptoms. Remember ALL areas of our life are connected and affect the others. We can’t compartmentalize. Relationships, food, movement, career/life, spirituality all play a role in our health AND business! Hi Friend, I’m your host, Sally Adams, and every Monday evening, I talk to people about making original work for the stage. Subscribe to SallyPAL on iTunes, Google Play, Podbean and many other podcast platforms. Leave comments, give me a review, or send an email to Sally@sallypal.com. Your ideas keep great conversations coming every Monday evening. Thanks so much to those of you who continue to share. Thanks to Connie, Steve, Jeremy, Pat, Emile, George, Vicki, and all of you who are taking the time to spread the word. Don’t forget about the FREEBIES on sallypal.com/join. You can still get your 20-page free original theatre resource. It’s a glossary of live performance support you'll need for your original work. It’s useful, entertaining, and there are places to scribble your show's notes on the pages. Today’s episode features an amazing young artist, David KoloKolo. David is a senior in the accounting program at George Washington University in Washington DC. He's like many serious-minded young men about to embark on a career in the corporate world. But just under the surface is a passionate, thoughtful, poetic soul. David is a spoken word artist and musician who draws energy and inspiration from his Christian faith. Although his poetry is not filled with religion, his walk as a believer is all-encompassing. David’s non-judgmental approach to his art and his life is nothing short of inspiring. I want to share a poem he wrote and performed that spoke to me as a human being. Here's a link to David KoloKolo’s spoken word piece, Anthology of Apologies. I'm including Concise Advice from the Interview. This is a short version of tips from my guest. Here are David KoloKolo's 5 great bits of advice: 5 As you grow as an artist, pay attention to your technique. 4 Art is communal even if you create in solitude. 3 Sharing digitally is a legitimate way to create a communal experience. 2 Share your whole self with your community. And the number 1 piece of advice from spoken word artist David KoloKolo? Worship can bind together all the areas of your life including your art. Thank you for sharing, subscribing, reviewing, joining, and really and truly, thank you for listening. I want you to pursue your dream to have your original work on the stage in front of a live audience. Episode 20 of Sally’s Performing Arts Lab Podcast (SallyPAL) posts during LOVE YOUR BODY week! The National Dance Education Organization and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts celebrate 2017’s Love Your Body Week October 22-28. You don’t have to be a dance student to love your body. So, whatever else you do, love your body today! Every Monday evening I talk to people about making original work for the stage. Episode 20 features dancer, choreographer, and teacher, Kerrie King from Northern High School in Greensboro North Carolina. Kerrie is a firecracker of an artist. She has more enthusiasm than a kid on the way to Disneyworld. She is encouraging, creative, and full of amazing ideas. Kerrie has been the dance teacher at Northern High School in Greensboro, North Carolina for several years. Her students have far exceeded anyone’s expectations for a public-school dance program. Kerrie pushes her students to do more than simply dance. She drives them to create. Every student in her ever-growing program (there are nearly 100 students) stretches to develop original movement. Student dancers create thoughtful and innovative choreography. This interactive style of teaching is important. Kids get to use their bodies in positive ways. The Love Your Body Week event is part of a push toward inclusion in performing arts. Kids who worry about miniscule weight gains and barely visible perfection in the world of dance may not maintain that enthusiasm for long. We’ve all seen little kids dancing their hearts out on YouTube or Facebook. Some of our own tiny family members dance for the joy of it. It’s great to see teachers encouraging a return to that joyful self-expression. Young people who love to dance will gain technique as they progress because they are inspired. It’s one reason Kerrie’s dance program is bursting at the seams. Let’s all work to love our own bodies as an example for the young people we love. If you’re not a Performing Arts Lab subscriber, find a platform and subscribe to SallyPAL! I’m on a bunch of podcast platforms including Podbean where SallyPAL will be a featured show during Thanksgiving week! Leave comments, give me a review or send an email to Sally@sallypal.com. Concise Advice from the Interview, a short version of tips from my guest, Kerrie King. Here are 10 great bits of advice: 10 - You don’t have to fit into a mold to be a dancer. It’s okay to be who you are. 9 - Your body differences are your creative strengths. Work with them. 8 - Everything in your dance piece must have purpose. 7 - Take positive strides to make your world a better place. 6 - To offer a new perspective, reach beyond the edge of the stage. 5 - Be true to yourself. 4 - Get lots of feedback. 3 - You don’t always have to take every piece of advice you are offered. 2 - Educate your audience and help them understand your work. 1 - Love Your Body Next week SallyPAL the podcast will feature an interview with pianist, conductor, teacher, and actor Jeremy Stevens. In last week's podcast episode of The JoLynn Braley Show I answered the question "What Is Eating Clean" so go ahead and listen to that episode first if you aren't sure what it means to eat clean. Today I'll cover the topic "What to Do when you Get Bored Eating Clean", which is a question that has been submitted to me several times on my free weight loss class that I teach live online once a month. When you click here to register for the free weight loss class you'll see a field on the registration form that asks the question "What's your biggest weight loss challenge?" and if you fill that in I just might use your biggest weight loss challenge on an upcoming video, a podcast, or as a free weight loss class topic! So be sure and click here to register for the free class now, especially since the next free, live, monthly class is coming up shortly on August 17th. What To Do When You Get Bored Eating Clean In this episode of The JoLynn Braley Show I'll share some simple tips to use when you get bored eating clean. If you aren't sure what it means to eat clean the listen to last week's episode first. Something basic to look at also, is why you are bored eating clean. Are you obsessed with food? Addicted to food? Or are you addicted to sugar? Additionally, if you're an emotional eater, binge eater, and just plain engaging in self-sabotage then all of the clean-eating tips in the world aren't going to make eating clean any easier. True! The only way to make it super simple to live a healthy lifestyle, which really is what clean eating is about (it's a lifestyle, not a diet) is to heal the root of why you're so addicted to food. You must heal the root of your binge eating, emotional eating, and food obsessions. You cannot stop eating because you live in a human body but you can learn how to have a healthy relationship with food and with yourself and your body. You can break free of your struggles with food and your weight that have never gone away no matter how many diets you've done. You can achieve freedom from your ongoing struggles to drop the fat and keep it off. Yes! All of this is possible. How do I know? Because my coaching clients do it all the time. My coaching clients follow the proven steps in my proprietary coaching system The Inner Self Diet as I mentor them personally through the steps. You can read what my wonderful clients have to say about their results here! Get Pen and Paper! Tune in for next week's episode: How Fat Shame Will Keep You Fat Tune into next week's episode of The JoLynn Braley Show for a Hot Topic that is rarely talked about and it really needs to be! Shame is the heaviest, most negative emotion there is and as long as you continue to live in the vibration of shame about your out-of-control eating, your body,
What is eating clean? This is a great question, especially if you eat the way I used to eat prior to 2004! How did I eat back then? I hung out almost completely in the frozen food section of the mainstream grocery store. Yes! That's how I was eating. I was eating dead, processed food loaded with sodium, artificial sugars, MSG, preservatives, and all other kinds of yuck. Yuck that easily makes your body fat! Why was I eating like that? It was what I was used to and I really didn't know any better. I didn't know how to cook, I did know how to bake (I'm a fabulous baker) but the problem with that was I'd eat the whole apple pie I would bake! So, prior to 2004 I did reach my highest weight ever learning how to eat clean really made it easy to release the excess physical fat from my body. It wasn't easy for me to DO all of it though, since I had not done the Inner Self work back then that I do with my coaching clients today. Wow, if I'd had the amazing tools my coaching clients gain in The Inner Self Diet then I would have had the easiest time learning how to eat clean. But that topic could be a completely separate podcast! What Is Eating Clean? In this episode of The JoLynn Braley Show I'll share the simplicity of exactly what eating clean is. And really, it IS simple - get off of all processed foods! Of course, you need to cook and plan ahead, and I do realize how difficult this is to do when your mindset is fat, because when you've got a fat mindset, your mind and body are grounded in Fear Attracting Thoughts. In fact, it's extremely difficult to lose weight when your mindset is fat! Why? Because you've never healed the root of your binge eating, emotional eating and self-sabotage, all unhealthy behaviors which are symptoms of a fat mindset. When your mindset is fat you definitely don't want to eat clean, it's far too difficult. I know! I've been there myself. The Good News is that once you release your inner fears, your emotional eating, your binge eating, and any other unhealthy behaviors that are keeping you stuck in the muck with food and your weight, then it is easy to eat clean. It's easy to plan ahead. It's easy to commit to yourself instead of constantly breaking every promise you make to yourself each day, always telling yourself "tomorrow", which never ever comes, does it. Get Pen and Paper! Before getting the answer to What Is Eating Clean in this week's podcast episode, get your pen and paper ready! On each episode of The JoLynn Braley Show I give you questions to write down and then write down your answers to. You'll get so much out of this Free iTunes Podcast when you write each question down on paper with pen and then write down your answer. In this week's episode you'll learn: What eating clean is Why clean eating really is simple, when you have a weight loss mindset Why weight loss is not rocket science (BUT it feels like attempting to climb a mountain without any feet when you can't stop eating and can't stop obsessing about the foods you're addicted to) Simply click the play button on the player on this page and you can listen immediately and learn more about why weight loss feels impossible for you today. Remember: All change begins with awareness. Note: When you take action with the proven system to permanent weight loss so that you can actually have permanent weight loss, then you'll be experiencing the results instead of just listening to information about it. A good place to start is by raising your level of hope that You Too can have permanent success with your weight. Raise your hope by clicking here to read what the Graduates of The Inner Self Diet have to say about releasing all of their struggles with food and their weight. Just imagine if you too, could stop binge eating, stop emotional eating, and stop sabotaging your weight loss! When weight loss becomes easy and fun, then you can make it last. Listen In Below to The JoLynn Braley Show!
Do you often find yourself saying that weight loss feels impossible? Maybe you've been struggling with your weight for so long now, that you've almost given up. Or maybe you're like most of my permanent weight loss coaching clients who before working with me, they'd tried everything to lose weight and keep it off, but even if they lost weight, it always came back. Gayle and Sindhu are two great examples of this! Prior to working with me in The Inner Self Dietâ„¢ they BOTH had gotten to their ideal weight in the past, but they could never stay there. Not until they healed the root of their ongoing struggles, to finally put an end to the binge eating and emotional eating. When you go through so many ups and downs with your weight and yo-yo dieting has become your norm, eventually it just ends up feeling like "What's the point?!" because you already expect to fail. I know this because I've been there! This can definitely make weight loss feel impossible. There IS good news however! Once you heal the root of the problem (HINT: that's an Inner Self journey you've gotta take, if you are serious about ending your struggles) then releasing the fat will be a snap. But in the meantime, what do you do when weight loss feels so impossible to DO? What If Weight Loss Feels Impossible? In this episode of The JoLynn Braley Show I'll share with you why weight loss feels so impossible for you to accomplish. But please know right now that you're certainly not alone! In fact, I've been saying that the stats show that over 60 million adults in the USA are overweight or obese, and today I learned that I've been stating the wrong facts! The correct stats are OVER 78.6 Million Adults in the USA are now Overweight or Obese. So... you're definitely not alone in your struggles. But wouldn't it be so much more fun to be in the permanent weight loss group? You know, to become one of Those People - those people who can eat just one (instead of the whole box!). But first, you'd need to feel that this is even possible. So go ahead and listen to today's episode of The JoLynn Braley Show to learn more about why it feels so impossible to you today. It will open your mind to what's really going on!
