Powerlines: Words That Sell Brands, Grip Fans, and Sometimes Change History With Author & Marketing Guru Steve Cone With Host Richard Levick of LEVICK: Steve Cone, the Chief of Communications, Marketing, and Philanthropy at Capital Caring Health joins host Richard Levick of LEVICK to discuss the remarkable work of Capital Caring -- the largest and most experienced nonprofit providers of hospice care, palliative care and bereavement counseling services in the nation -- and his latest book, Powerlines: Words That Sell Brands, Grip Fans, and Sometimes Change History. He is a nationally recognized leader in marketing and brand management and has authored three books and lectured worldwide on proven marketing principles. Steve has created or led efforts to develop many national loyalty programs including United's MileagePlus®, Hyatt's Gold Passport and Saks Fifth Avenue's, SaksFirst rewards program. Powerlines covers the exceptional slogans that people remember long after the campaign ends and stand out from the barrage of marketing messages consumers face each day. Why do we remember slogans for Diet Coke from the mid-1980s, but not what we had for breakfast yesterday? And why do companies that have worked so hard own a piece of our minds with brilliant slogans abandon them for eminently forgettable one?
In this episode two suicide attempt survivors share their stories of their despair, aftermath, and God's grace giving them a new meaning and purpose in life. Bil Saum is a retired police officer, and Steve Cone is a retired Airforce Veteran as well as retired firefighter/first responder. They serve Vets and First Responders in their ministry X-22 Adventures. Robotic Pets Are Doing Wonders For Dementia Patients, Veterans, Pediatric Patients and Now Even the Children of Ukraine Who've Had to Leave Their Pets Behind. Capital Caring Health, one of the nation's oldest non-profit advanced illness care and hospice providers, has begun to incorporate Robotic Companion Pets into their care plans in a partnership with Ageless Innovation and their 'JOY FOR ALL' robotic pets. This company was Co-Founded by former Hasbro Executive Ted Fischer who is now the CEO. These pets have proven in numerous clinic studies to provide joy, comfort, and interactive companionship to patients and peace of mind to their families and caregivers. In the cases of devastating dementia, among the benefits are reduction in agitation, prevention of depression, and often a reduction in medications being administered.” Steve Cone, Chief of Philanthropy at Capital Caring says, “The robotic pets are quite remarkable and interactively react to human touch, movement, and voice—like real pets. As we like to say no need to feed or walk or clean up after them—just enjoy their LOVE.” Capital Caring aims to make these robotic pets available free of charge to anyone around the country. Capital Caring Health (CCH) efforts to provide Ukrainian Children who fled their homes and left their real pets behind with a companion robotic dog or cat, has the blessing of the Polish Government, and the robotic pets will be flown to Poland for distribution to refugee children. You can support this effort by donating directly on CCH's website capitalcaring.org and by clicking the green donate button in the top right of their homepage, and selecting the ‘Patient Pet Services and Robotic Companion Pets' program option. Then indicate donation is in honor of the children of the Ukraine. Both Steve Cone Chief Of Philanthropy at Capital Caring Health and Ted Fischer Co_Founder and CEO of Ageless Innovation join me to talk about this remarkable partnership.

Anyone who has taken care of someone really sick at home knows how difficult and stressful it is. Yet care at home is what most people with serious illness want. Too often, they don't know that's possible and don't know where to turn. I wish more people caring for a critically ill person knew, that rather than asking advice of doctors or friends or searching for advice online, they only had to make ONE phone call to get immediate world class 'in home' help regardless of where they live in the US and regardless of their ability to pay. Seriously. And as serious illnesses go, heart disease and heart failure are at the top of the list. Heart disease is the silent pandemic that affects every American family. Unlike Covid it is never going to end. 1 in 3 Americans have heart disease and 1 in 4 eventually die of it. My own fabulous father was one of those people. He passed away soon after I returned home from college from heart failure at the age of 55. I remember the pain my Mother and brothers and I went through watching him suffer. Heart failure takes hearts and breaks a lot of hearts like mine. Though Covid has consumed out attention this past year you should know that heart failure is still the number one cause of death and the leading cause of hospitalization. "Tens of thousands of heart failure patients wind up dying alone in a hospital room or ICU", says Steve Cone, Chief of Communications, Marketing and Philanthropy of Capital Caring Health. "Many of those hospital stays could have been prevented and many of those patients could have lived longer and better lives through palliative /advanced illness and hospice care delivered directly to where they live, be it their home or a family members home or in an assisted living facility. In-home care, so patients don't have to be rushed to the hospital and caregivers don't have to call 911 and people don't have to end up dying by themselves." Capital Caring Health one of the largest not-for-profit hospice and advanced illness care providers in the nation are also a leading provider of in home advanced cardiac care. Their highly respected President and CEO Tom Koutsoumpas, came up with this national advanced cardiac home care initiative and got 70+ other not-for-profit hospice and advanced illness providers who offer at-home care in communities nationwide to join him. The organization is called 'National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation' and Tom serves as it's CEO. Together they have made a national toll free hotline available to help families find a care provider near them, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Families in need of hospice or care for an advanced illness can call to find a care provider near them. HOTLINE: 1-844-GET-NPHI (1-844-438-6744) (NPHI) National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation The joint mission prioritizes patients and not profits. Thus, regardless of ability to pay — they turn no patient and their family away. Ever. NPHI and the American Heart Association jointly released a Free Advanced Cardiac Care Patient and Caregiver Handbook. They believe every family in America should have a copy and provide the handbook at no cost on their respective websites. People in the heart business with heart! Doing my part to share this important information and also share the enlightening conversation I had with Steve Cone of Capital Caring Health. Please share this information with anyone you may know who needs it. Thank You, Debbie capitalcaring.org https://www.heart.org
Do you play a musical instrument? If not, maybe you should. This is especially true if you are outgoing and an extrovert. It seems that your personality can predict with great accuracy, how much musical skill and talent you have. We begin this episode by exploring that. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2015-10/uoc-hyg101315.php You have certainly something about body language and how it works. Well, you are about to get a much better and deeper understanding of it and how you can use it to improve your communication skills. Joe Navarro was a special agent for the FBI for 25 years and he is author of the book What Every Body is Saying (https://amzn.to/2CWKSiR) Listen and be amazed at how nonverbal communication really works. IF there ever was a “Golden Age” of corporate slogans, it was most certainly the 1960s and 70s. That’s when you flew “the friendly skies” of United or “you deserved a break today” at McDonalds or when you used Fed Ex because it “absolutely, positively had to be there overnight.” Those and many other corporate taglines were an important part of their brand. Now do you know the United Airlines, McDonalds or FedEx taglines are today? Marketing executive Steve Cone joins me to make the case that taglines – or slogans – are important and he explains why. Steve is author of the book Powerlines: Words that Sell Brands, Grip Fans and Sometimes Change History (https://amzn.to/2Cs38zJ). If you were to stand in the middle of your kitchen and look around, just how much food would you see? Is it in the fridge and cabinets or is there a lot of food out on the counter? Is “social justice” the same as “biblical justice,” or do these concepts sometimes diverge? On the one hand, social justice seems deeply indebted to Christian thought and practice. On the other hand, some of its most active proponents today are secularists, sometimes even Marxist atheists. In light of such complications, how ought Christians interact with the “social justice movement” in the United States today?Recommended reading:Social Justice Rites: Sacrificial Politics and Sacred Victims by Molly Brigid McGrathJustice in the Bible by Timothy KellerBible Project Justice VideoJustin Giboney is an attorney and political strategist in Atlanta, GA.
