Episode 292 - "Living With Unanswered Questions – Embracing Ambiguity"We live in a culture that rewards quick answers — but life doesn't always offer them. In this episode, Michelle and Scott explore how to live with unanswered questions without falling into panic or self-doubt. You'll discover why uncertainty feels so uncomfortable, how your brain reacts to open loops, and what it takes to build emotional resilience when the answers don't come right away. Instead of forcing clarity, we'll learn how to trust the unfolding—to find strength in the not-knowing and meaning in the mystery that lingers.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world. As a reminder, our “Get Your Sh*t Together” Home Retreat can be found here:http://thinkingmagically.com/retreatReplays of prior episodes can be found at:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/scott-grossbergYou can also join our Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/keepingystMichelle Post can be reached at michelle@postinternationalinc.com http://postinternationalinc.com

Where in the world am I? In San Diego today, talking about Cape Breton, Canada   .  Hi there. I'm Dr. Mary Travelbest, world traveler, professor, marketing expert, and all-around fun person. And I'm excited to connect with fellow travelers and share our experiences. Quick-fire FAQ:   Your mom, grandmother, or even your daughter told you to be careful when traveling solo. But did they ever do it? You are on your way. The question I get asked is: What should I tell someone who discourages me from traveling?   Answer: You can turn it around and ask for specific information on what they know about solo travel, how they learned about it, and what facts support their knowledge. Do not be confrontive, but do ask for some examples so that you can diffuse the situation. In the long run, they want what's best for you. Remember, they don't have any ulterior motive; they just want to be helpful. When you tell them where you are going, how prepared you are, and that you have a sound system of backups, they will wish you well.   60-second confidence challenge   Your challenge is to use your MAP App at night. It's not the same as daytime so that you will face some additional challenges, but once you do it, you will gain confidence.  In future episodes, we will discuss walking at night in more detail.   If you like today's Confidence Challenge, my book series dives deeper into using maps and how to build confidence using them—link in description."    See Book A for addressing this challenge. You can find it on our website at https://www.5stepstosolotravel.com/ or on Amazon. It's a several-part series.   Destination Deep‑Dive Today's special destination is: Cape Breton, Canada, and the Cabot Trail.   Today, I'm taking you along one of the most breathtaking drives in the world — the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The sheer beauty of this place will leave you in awe. Cape Breton Highlands National Park anchors this famous loop, which you can drive either from Chéticamp on the west or Ingonish Beach on the east — about 104 kilometers apart. I suggest starting counterclockwise, from east to west, for the best morning vistas on the right side of the road, and later, sunset views along the coast. Before you go — fill your gas tank! There are only a few gas stations along the way. This area is all about the outdoors. For hikers, the Skyline Trail is a 6.5-kilometer loop, approximately two hours long, offering sweeping ocean views — one of the most popular hikes in Canada, with possible moose sightings and breathtaking cliffs.  If you prefer a shorter option, try Broad Cove Mountain. Alternatively, head east to the Coastal Trail or west to the Fishing Cove Trail or Corney Brook Trail, which passes by the waterfalls. If you don't have camping gear, you can rent ready-pitched cabin tents called oTENTiks — a great option to experience the park overnight. Seafood lovers, you're in luck! There are numerous small, local restaurants serving lobster, scallops, and fresh fish. And if you want a local experience, stop by a whale museum or take a whale and seal cruise — both are worth the time. Where to stay: For budget stays, CabotTrailHostel.com offers beds with good value. I stayed at the Bear on the Lake, located in Whycocomagh on the Bras d'Or Lake, which is centrally situated for exploring the Cabot Trail. Vibe: Welcoming, social, clean, and safe for solo women travelers; shared kitchen and lake-view deck for relaxing evenings. Now back to the travel sights: Outside the park, stop in Baddeck, home of the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, and don't miss their famous lobster suppers. In Sydney and North Sydney, you can explore a miners' museum, local parks, and even take a ghost tour. One morning, I left my hostel before seven, snacks packed and spirits high. The drive was pure joy — no traffic lights, sunshine, and that incredible Celtic charm everywhere. Next time, I will visit the Gaelic College in St. Ann's (Ceilidh trail music and crafts). My Irish roots would be smiling. I even met a 70-year-old postmaster who invited me for a private swim in a local lake with a private entrance. Hidden from view, I took a spontaneous dip with permission from the owner-and yes, it was a nude swim in nature! I did lose my glasses, which I will mention later on, but it was worth it for that moment of freedom. Hidden from view, I took a spontaneous dip with permission from the owner— and yes, it was a nude swim in nature! Cape Breton surprised me with its strong Celtic culture — there's even a school for the Gaelic language. By the end of the day, I had driven nearly 600 kilometers, my heart full and my camera full of beauty. Other stops you can make if you stay longer: Stop by Glenora Distillery in Glenville for a quick visit or coffee (optional whisky tasting is available if you wish!). Continue to Margaree Harbour — stop at the beach for photos of where the river meets the sea. Visit the AcadianChéticampVillage of Chéticamp, known for rug hooking and vibrant cChéticamp Lunch in Chéticamp: The Doryman Pub & Grill or Harbour Restaurant (seafood and great view). Continue north to Pleasant Bay and visit the Whale Interpretive Centre. On the east side of the Trail, you can find Breakfast: Coffee and a bagel at the hostel or in Baddeck (try High Wheeler Café).

Episode 290 - "The Masks We Wear: What Halloween Teaches Us About Identity"Every Halloween, we put on masks—but what about the ones we wear every day? In this episode, Michelle and Scott dive into the fascinating psychology of identity, authenticity, and the roles we play. From the personas we show at work to the versions of ourselves we share online, they explore how masks can both protect and imprison us. Drawing lessons from the spirit of Halloween, they uncover how pretending can sometimes reveal the truth—and how learning when to take the mask off can lead to deeper connection, confidence, and self-awareness. Because sometimes, it takes wearing a disguise to discover who you really are.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

Madoff A revelatory book that lifts the curtain on America's most consequential public deception: how the rich get richer using tools the government gave them. Amid conflicting narratives about the drivers of wealth and inequality in the United States, one constant hovers in the background: the US tax code. No political force has been more consequential—or more utterly opaque—than the 7,000-page document that details who pays what in American society and government. Most of us have a sense that it's an unfair system. But does anyone know exactly how it's unfair? Legal scholar Ray D. Madoff knows. In The Second Estate, she offers an unprecedented look behind the scenes of America's byzantine system of taxation, laying bare not only its capacity to consolidate wealth but also the mechanisms by which it has created two fundamentally separate American societies: the working Americans who pay and the ultra-rich who benefit. This is not a story of offshore accounts or secret tax havens. In The Second Estate, Madoff shows that the US system itself has, over time, been stripped and reconstituted such that it now offers a series of secret paths, hidden in plain sight, for wealthy people in the know to avoid taxation altogether. Through the strategic avoidance of traditional income, leveraging of investments and debt, and exploitation of rules designed to promote charitable giving, America's wealthy do more than just pay less than their share; they remove themselves from the tax system entirely. Wealth becomes its own sovereign state, and the living is surprisingly—and maddeningly—cheap. Ray Madoff is a professor at Boston College Law School, where she teaches and writes in philanthropy policy, taxes, property, and estate planning. She is Co-founder and Director of the Boston College Law School Forum on Philanthropy and the Public Good, a non-partisan think tank that convenes scholars and practitioners to explore questions regarding whether the rules governing the charitable sector best serve the public good. Madoff is the author of Immortality and the Law: The Rising Power of the American Dead (Yale University Press), which looks at how American law treats the interests of the dead and what this tells us about our values for the living. The Financial Times called it "a sparkling polemic." She is also the lead author on one of the top treatises on estate planning entitled Practical Guide to Estate Planning (CCH). Madoff's expertise includes philanthropy policy, the rights of the dead (including the ability of the dead to control their bodies, reputation, and property), estate taxes, comparative inheritance law, and wealth inequality and taxes. A regular commentator on a number of these topics, Madoff has appeared on dozens of national radio shows including On Point, Talk of the Nation, All Things Considered, Here and Now, and Marketplace, among others. Madoff is a frequent contributor to the opinion pages of the New York Times and has published op-eds in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Boston Globe and Chronicle of Philanthropy. Among her professional activities, Madoff is a member of the American Law Institute, an academic fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estate Counsel, and past president of the American Association of Law Schools' Trusts and Estates Section. She was named a 2014 Top Women of the Law by Mass Lawyer's Weekly and Critic of the Year by Inside Philanthropy. She was also named to the NonProfit Times Power & Influence Top 50 in 2017 and 2018 for her work promoting reform of the tax rules governing philanthropy.  An experienced mediator, Madoff is a leading authority on the use of mediation to resolve will and trust disputes. Those spaces can feel disorienting, even frightening. But what if the pause isn't a problem to solve, but a sacred space to breathe, realign, and listen? In this episode, Michelle and Scott explore the art of navigating life's liminal spaces—the transitions, uncertainties, and waiting periods—with more grace and less panic. You'll learn how to find stability in stillness, meaning in uncertainty, and strength in surrender. Episode 287 - "Healing in Motion: Why Movement is Medicine"In a world where “self-care” often means slowing down, it's easy to forget that motion itself can be one of our most powerful healers. In this episode, Michelle and Scott explore the science and soul of movement—how walking, stretching, dancing, or simply shifting your body can regulate your nervous system, boost your mood, and heal emotional wounds. You'll discover why movement isn't just exercise; it's a language your body uses to release stress, process emotions, and return to balance. Whether you're a runner, a gentle mover, or someone who hasn't stretched in years, this episode will give you practical ways to weave movement into your everyday life and experience its transformative effects.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

Episode 286 - "Boundaries Are Love, Not Rejection"We've been taught to see boundaries as walls—barriers that push people away. But what if we reframed them as acts of love? In this episode, Michelle and Scott dive into the power of boundaries as clarity and compassion. Saying “no” isn't rejection; it's an act of honesty that creates safer, healthier spaces for both you and the people you care about. Together, they explore why boundaries are essential for emotional well-being, how to set them without guilt, and why honoring your limits is one of the most loving things you can do—for yourself and others.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

And the truth is, they don't just live in our minds—they weigh on our bodies, our moods, and our relationships. Do you feel stuck paying enormous tax bills and riding the volatile ups and downs of the market? What if there's a smarter, safer way to keep more of your money and grow it faster? In today's episode, I sit down with Dana Cornell, founder of Cornell Capital and former Wall Street advisor, to reveal the hidden strategies wealthy families use to protect assets, reduce taxes, and build lasting wealth. Dana went from knocking on doors during the 2008 financial crisis to managing over $1.4 billion at Morgan Stanley. Along the way, he discovered a broken system designed to serve institutions and not individual investors. His achievements earned him Forbes recognition as one of the top advisors in the country, yet he chose to walk away and launch Cornell Capital to disrupt traditional wealth management. Dana will teach you how to cut your tax bill by six figures, invest like the ultra-wealthy, and create a financial plan that truly serves your life. “Time solves most chaos in any investment situation... Episode 283 - "The Labor of Identity: Who Are You Beyond Work?"Work takes up a huge part of our lives—but it was never meant to define our entire identity. Too often, we confuse our job title with our worth and measure our lives against the myth that passion-driven work should feel effortless and fulfilling all the time. In this episode, Michelle and Scott dismantle the idea that your career is the sum total of who you are. They talk about how the “find your passion and you'll never work a day in your life” narrative can actually set you up for burnout and disappointment—and why your true identity is so much richer than your resume. Instead, they explore a healthier, more expansive vision of fulfillment: one that comes not just from work, but from creativity, relationships, service, play, and the parts of yourself that have nothing to do with a paycheck. Because you are not your job. You are something far greater.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

But here's the truth: rest is not laziness—it's survival, strategy, and strength. In this episode, Michelle and Scott dismantle the toxic myth that your worth is tied to your output. Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World with Michelle & Scott

Episode 275 - The Whisper Between SoulsSomewhere along the winding road of human evolution, we went from survival mode—clubbing each other over the head—to the wild, delicate act of pressing our faces together in the dark and calling it magic. In this episode, Michelle and Scott explore the strange, sacred, and sometimes hilarious art of the kiss. From first kisses that feel like emotional Russian roulette to the complex language of kisses as apology, contract, or silent rebellion—this is a deep dive into why we kiss, what we mean when we do, and what kissing reveals about our most primal human need: connection. A kiss can be love. It can be lust. It can be power, boredom, or simply the only thing left to say when words fall apart. Join them for a heartfelt, tongue-in-cheek reflection on one of the most universal (and utterly awkward) expressions of closeness. Because sometimes, the things we can't say out loud come out in the whisper between souls.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

In this episode, Michelle and Scott dive into Cassie Phillips' viral concept from her poem "Just Let Them"—a radical yet simple mindset shift that invites you to stop micromanaging other people's choices and start reclaiming your own peace. Whether it's friends who flake, coworkers who don't get it, or family members who push your buttons, this approach isn't about giving up—it's about letting go of what was never yours to carry in the first place. They explore how "Just Let Them" can become a boundary-setting mantra, a tool for emotional freedom, and a reset button for burnout. You'll walk away with practical steps for applying this philosophy in your daily life (without becoming passive or checked out). Let them. Episode 273 - "If It's Not Yours, Don't Touch It: The Rules of Theatre Applied to Life"In theatre, there's an unspoken but sacred rule: If it's not yours, don't touch it. It's about respect, boundaries, trust—and knowing your role. In this episode, Michelle and Scott take backstage wisdom and shine it center stage on everyday life. What if applying the rules of performance etiquette could help you set clearer boundaries, reduce emotional clutter, and stop carrying what was never yours to begin with? Join them as they explore how the principles of the theatre—like staying in your light, hitting your mark, and respecting someone else's props—can become powerful metaphors for living with more integrity, presence, and peace.
