New research reveals that sixty hertz magnetic fields -- the same frequency as our electrical power grid -- can alter protein function in ways that change social behavior. In this episode, I break down a fascinating study that found power-line frequency magnetic fields changed how worms feed together. The researchers discovered these fields specifically affected membrane proteins in the nervous system, shifting behavior from social to solitary patterns. While the lab exposure was extremely high, the study reveals a biological pathway through which everyday electromagnetic fields could theoretically influence how proteins function in our bodies. In This Episode How sixty hertz magnetic fields altered worm social behavior The specific mechanism affecting membrane proteins What this means for everyday power-frequency exposures Featured Study Read the full study: Effect of 60 Hz magnetic fields on social feeding behavior of npr-1 receptor mutants in Caenorhabditis elegans See all studies at shieldyourbody.com/research

⬥EPISODE NOTES⬥ The healthcare system is, by some measures, the most targeted sector in cybersecurity. Patient records get lifted, hospitals get held for ransom, and the supposed protections often look more like antiquated friction than modern defense. Gil Bashe, Chair of Global Health and Purpose at FINN Partners, joins Sean Martin to explore why the systems meant to protect people's most sensitive information are, in many cases, the same systems holding back better care. A former combat medic, agency CEO, private equity operator, and now author of Healing the Sick Care System: Why People Matter, Gil Bashe brings a rare composite view of how information, technology, and human judgment collide in healthcare. The conversation moves quickly from ransomware and HIPAA-covered entities into the harder questions about AI. With an estimated 80 percent of doctors already using OpenAI tools to assist with diagnosis or treatment patterns, the line between "in the zone" and "precision" information has become a clinical safety issue. Gil Bashe reframes hallucinations as what they really are in his world: wrong facts. And wrong facts, fed back into a system that increasingly trusts the output, create a feedback loop that no one is accountable for. The machine doesn't sleep, doesn't worry, doesn't carry responsibility. The humans on either side of it do. That accountability gap is where the cybersecurity audience comes in. Gil Bashe draws a direct parallel between great coders and great clinicians: both work inside-out and outside-in, interviewing the people who use the system and the people the system serves. He argues that the cybersecurity professional protecting an EMT's routing system, a hospital's power grid, or an MRI data pipeline is saving lives on the same continuum as the paramedic. The skillset is different. The stakes are not. Sean Martin and Gil Bashe also press on the leadership question raised by AI. If clinicians are freed up by 15 percent of their day, what does the system ask them to do with that time? See two more patients on the conveyor belt of sick care, or actually treat the underlying cause of disease? With 18.7 percent of U.S. GDP going to healthcare and 35 percent of that consumed by administration, the answer is not technical. It is a leadership decision about what the technology is for. This conversation asks cybersecurity practitioners, CISOs, and technology leaders to widen the frame. Protecting data is the floor. Protecting the human relationships, the clinical judgment, and the dignity of the patient on the other end of the system is the work. ⬥GUEST⬥ Gil Bashe, Chair, Global Health and Purpose at FINN Partners | On LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gilbashe/ ⬥HOST⬥ Sean Martin, Co-Founder at ITSPmagazine, Studio C60, and Host of Redefining CyberSecurity Podcast & Music Evolves Podcast | Website: https://www.seanmartin.com/ ⬥RESOURCES⬥ Healing the Sick Care System: Why People Matter (book by Gil Bashe) | https://www.finnpartners.com/news-insights/healing-the-sick-care-system-why-people-matter/ FINN Partners | https://www.finnpartners.com/ The Future of Cybersecurity Newsletter | https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/7108625890296614912/ More Redefining CyberSecurity Podcast episodes | https://www.seanmartin.com/redefining-cybersecurity-podcast Redefining CyberSecurity Podcast on YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnYu0psdcllS9aVGdiakVss9u7xgYDKYq ⬥ADDITIONAL INFORMATION⬥ Redefining CyberSecurity Podcast | https://www.seanmartin.com/redefining-cybersecurity-podcast Redefining CyberSecurity on YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnYu0psdcllS9aVGdiakVss9u7xgYDKYq The Future of Cybersecurity Newsletter | https://itspm.ag/future-of-cybersecurity Connect with Sean Martin | https://www.seanmartin.com/ ⬥KEYWORDS⬥ gil bashe, finn partners, sean martin, healthcare cybersecurity, hospital ransomware, ai in medicine, chatgpt clinical use, patient data protection, hipaa business associates, health information leadership, sick care system, non-communicable diseases, human leadership in ai, medical misinformation, prompt accountability, redefining cybersecurity, cybersecurity podcast, redefining cybersecurity podcast Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Don't look now, but FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and Jim Acosta agree on something: President Donald Trump is “winning” his effort to reshape the media landscape in his second term. Appearing on the “Power Lines” podcast with his fellow ardent leftists Oliver Darcy and Jon Passantino, Acosta glumly proclaimed, “I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that Donald Trump is winning in his, you know, quest to reshape the media in this country that he's cracked the code on how to hurt the press in the U.S.” Acosta recently testified at a Democrat pseudo-hearing before Sen.... A live discussion with Sanya Carley and David Konisky, authors of the new book Power Lines, on the inequities that define America’s energy system—and how they could carry into the clean energy future if left unacknowledged. --- In this special live episode of Energy Policy Now, recorded before an audience during Climate Week at the University of Pennsylvania, guests Sanya Carley and David Konisky discuss their new book Power Lines: The Human Costs of American Energy in Transition. The book explores how America’s energy system both reflects and reinforces deep social and economic divides, and why a cleaner grid won’t automatically lead to a fairer one. Drawing on a decade of research and stories from communities on the front lines of the energy transition, Carley and Konisky show that before the nation can make progress toward energy justice, it must first recognize the people and places most affected by the inequities built into the system. Power Lines explores how those inequities shape lives and communities across the United States. Sanya Carley is the Mark Alan Hughes Faculty Director of the Kleinman Center and Presidential Distinguished Professor of Energy Policy and City Planning at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design. David Konisky is the Associate Dean for Research and a Lynton K. Caldwell Professor at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. Together, they co-direct the Energy Justice Lab. Recorded live at the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy during Penn’s Climate Week. Think calm decisions, clear communication, and aligned relationships that mirror your steady, centered presence.KEY TAKEAWAYSSPOT THE LOOP, LEAD THE MIND: Overthinking is a safety strategy, not your identity—name it, then direct it.TRUTH BOMB: What you rehearse, you request. Spirals train outcomes; Power Lines retrain them.EMPOWERING SHIFT: Self-respect beats shame—your nervous system follows your narrator.ALIGNED ACTION: Decide once, move in five minutes, log two tiny wins—confidence is evidence.CHAPTERS:00:00 Introduction: Your Mind Isn't the Enemy00:44 Understanding Overthinking01:23 Main Character Confidence Checklist01:50 Personal Journey: From Overthinker to Leader02:52 The Science Behind Overthinking06:32 The NICE Method: A Compassionate Approach07:02 Self-Talk: The Power of Words10:40 Practical Steps to Rewire Your Brain12:02 Boundaries and Bestie Energy21:37 Main Character Energy: Living with Confidence25:19 Conclusion: Becoming Your Own Best Friend28:03 Final Thoughts and Call to ActionTHE SELF-LOVE 2-STEPWhen you catch yourself second-guessing, over-explaining, people-pleasing, or letting someone else's reply decide your mood, flip this two-step. It pulls you out of performing and back into Main Character Energy, moving you from overthinking to aligned action in under two minutes. Use it before you text back out of anxiety, before an automatic yes, or whenever your peace feels negotiable. One switch and you're back in the role you already own.STEP 1 — NOTICE, NAME & NOW INTERRUPT (Presence → Power) Pause. Hand to heart. Breathe. Name the loop: approval math / all-or-nothing / catastrophic forecasting. Ask: “What am I trying to secure—certainty, control, approval, or safety?” Then give your mind a better job and do the 90-second move—send the email once, pour the water, take the walk, say the boundary.STEP 2 — CREATE YOUR POWER LINES & EVOLVE (Proof → Confidence) Speak the identity you're embodying: “As a woman who [identity], I choose [behavior] because I value [standard].” Believability ≥7? Take one congruent action within five minutes. Collect two micro-wins from...

Alright girl, today I've got Emma Nedov on the pod. If you don't know her — she's a two-time Olympian, an Australian gymnastics champion, and a woman who has lived the full arc of chasing a dream, breaking down, walking away, and then coming back stronger. Emma's story is wild. She trained for 20 years, missed out on the Games more than once, retired, and then — three years later — made the comeback of a lifetime to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics. What I love about Emma is her honesty about the falls, the pressure, the heartbreak, and the grit it takes to rise again. She's proof that falling isn't failure — it's part of the process. In our conversation, she shares the 10 lessons gymnastics gave her that now fuel her life outside the sport — lessons on resilience, patience, fear, identity, and why the goal is just a guide. This one is raw, inspiring, and full of wisdom for any woman who's chasing something bigger than herself. Why Listen Because you're not afraid of falling—you're afraid of not getting back up the right way. Press play for a blueprint in resilience that actually translates outside the gym. What We Cover Learn how to fall. It's not about avoiding failure — it's about falling with dignity and rising with choice, not obligation. Patience is power. The results you want take years, not weeks. Learn to love the long game. Perform under pressure. Nerves don't disappear; you just learn how to move with them. Do the session you don't feel like. That's usually the one that changes you. Visualization is a weapon. See it, feel it, practice it — and your body will follow. Sleep is non-negotiable. It's the quiet performance tool nobody respects enough. Fuel like an athlete. Food isn't punishment or reward — it's a tool for power, strength, and longevity. Don't chase perfection. You'll never control the judges, the scores, or the outcome — only your own performance. Build your board of directors. You need people around you who believe in you when you don't. The goal is the guide, not the prize. Who you become in the process is the real win. Key Takeaways Resilience isn't heroic; it's practiced. Tiny fails count. Your feelings don't run the show—your preparation does. The most rewarding sessions are the ones you wanted to skip. Control the controllables: your focus, your execution, your recovery. The goal is a north star, not a verdict. The practice is the point. Power Lines to Share “Learn to fall well—and rise because you choose to, not because you're told to.” — Emma “Act despite how you feel. That's where power lives.” — Emma “Your performance is none of your feelings' business.” — Emma “The practice is the point. The process is the point.” — Amy “Build your table. Fill the seats. Nobody wins alone.” — Emma & Amy Connect with Emma The gram: https://www.instagram.com/ejnedov/ Website: https://www.emmanedov.com/ Next Steps
