Listen venting isn't always the way to go. So what's another way to express yourself and acknowledge how you feel, journaling and talking to God. Everyone doesn't need to know your business. Protect your relationships, Protect your friendships, Protect your workshops, Protect your family. Speak life, speak positively, speak truth. Don't allow your emotions to keep you in a false reality. Let's keep it real: our emotions and feelings can have us in a false reality, creating a magnified perception, and creating an image of the ones we love negatively to others or even of ourselves. Let's not do that. We can control this. Stop. Pause. Think: Respond, speak, act clearly! [I Do Not Own the Rights to the Background Sound. All Rights Reserved to Cluetonic Beats]

For many of us, our days start and end on a schedule - we're constantly hustling. While there's nothing wrong with that, especially if the schedule helps you get things done, we also have to give ourselves the grace to chill out, stop and pause for a moment. In this episode, Erika and Ursula Mae talk about giving yourself the grace to take a pause and make time to enjoy some rest days amidst the hustle.
From the audio version of the Island Treasures podcast for Caregivers, this mini episode addresses what Jodi Kay Benusa (Independent Geriatric Consultant and Licensed Social Worker) shared about being a compassionate scientist and how we can all adopt this approach to be inquisitive and find out what's behind our actions; by taking a pause we can uncover the reason so we can make changes with the goal of improving the outcome. It's not just me talking about the episode, but this video contains Jodi speaking about the pact she made with herself to prevent burnout as well as the compassionate scientist concept. Jodi Kay Benusa is an Independent Geriatric Consultant who is a licensed social worker. She has been providing care in various ways throughout her entire life and it came as no surprise that she would enter the field of social work. Jodi works hard to preserve the rights of aging adults so they can live their best life through the toughest of times and she does this by asking questions so she can tailor her services to the needs of her clients. She is a problem solver who enjoys breaking through barriers to meet client goals. Jodi shares her own experience with burnout and how she is now able to recognize the warning signs and how to take steps to avoid burnout. Jodi introduced me to the term 'compassionate scientist' where exploring our reactions in situations helps us extend compassion to ourselves and others; simply, by stopping what we're doing, taking the pause and being compassionate instead of defensive. Listening- to hear not respond, listen unoffended. Listen with empathy. This talk may be hard for your person to express. Listen to understand. First listen to Understand THEN to be understood. Active listening involves: Nonverbal involvement positive body language Paying attention to what's being said not your response Keeping an open heart….No judgment Allowing for silence 2. Don't interrupt. Sometimes communication is like mining for treasure… it's not always just laying on the top. When you interrupt, you short circuit the depth of a convo and shut it down. Love is patient. Patient communication means you wait your turn. 3. Don't over-communicate. That's a thing! – excessive, to defend, state a case, or manipulate till you get agreement. Stop Pause, give room for others. 4. Use I statements- not blaming, excuse making 5. Keep confidential 6. Pay attention to non-verbal cues. Body language. 7. Ask open ended questions. What did a rib injury teach me over the last couple weeks? I learned to stop, pause, reverse, and listen more. I put aside my own agenda, planning, and even my workouts. I found out what it means to have three Saturdays in a row. Sometimes we go fastest when we stand still. Or as my wife and Stephen R. What are YOUR priorities in life?
Both host Diana Todd-Banks and guest Judythe cover some fascinating provocative topics about the current world climate and the Invisible Woman. Invisible women can best be described as those women who have always been really self-sufficient, the person that nobody needs to worry about, so they don’t. But now you’ve turned 60 and have watched everyone else around you achieve amazing things, yet secretly you feel disappointed in yourself and your life. You find yourself out there, invisible, - but that’s changing - you’re ready to be visible. Judythe knows, she was invisible once so was the host Diana. A natural born mystic and a scholar in Afterlife studies, she is a professional Intuitive Medium and Therapist for over 4 decades offering workshops throughout Australia and now the World; as well today Judythe is a highly respected speaker, author, entrepreneur, coach, mentor and consultant on all things Life, Death, Dying and the Afterlife. Judythe focuses much of her professional attention on the Invisible Woman of that generation that lived for everyone else, but themselves. She says and asks, ‘Yet, only you can change being Invisible. You’ve been waiting for that magical journey to begin, the Journey of ‘Who am I?’ But how do you do that?’ As part of The Invisible Woman Generation herself, she is now teaching women around the world how to live an amazing life and be amazing, now they are free from the shackles of their upbringing.
