When Tommy, Lisa, Kelly, and Danny move to Summer Bay for a school exchange program, they have no idea what to expect. They soon meet Alf Stewart, the local legend who runs the bait shop and the surf club. Alf takes a liking to the four teens and decides to teach them some life lessons. He shows them how to surf, fish, camp, and enjoy the simple things in life. He also tells them stories about his past adventures and his love for his late wife Ailsa. Along the way, the teens encounter some challenges, such as dealing with bullies, crushes, family issues, and culture shock. They also make some new friends, such as Barbie, and Penguins. Through Alf's guidance and wisdom, Tommy, Lisa, Kelly, and Danny learn how to live in the moment and appreciate the beauty of Australia.
She spent a record setting 20 years playing 'Sally Fletcher' on Home and Away, and there's still some storylines that stick out in Kate Richie's mind. The actress and radio host joined Dermot and Dave live in Sydney to chat about her time in Summer Bay, some of her favourite moments and even judged our Dave's Aussie accent.
Happy Monday, team! Kate has a rather interesting story to kick off the podcast and it involves a man who spent a whopping amount of dollars to fulfil his dream of becoming... a dog! Then, we discuss the worst places to run into your ex and Fitzy reveals what one woman did to prevent it and *spoiler alert* it's wild. Kate also shares an update on the royals, which somehow leads to the imaginary concoction of the scent of Summer Bay. We also hear FItzy's awesome effort to fit in as many puns as possible while on the phone with the Appin Hotel. Plus, Kate has some opinions about this generation of kids parties. Many of you may remember today's guest when he shot to fame in Australia in 2011 on The X-Factor. His biggest stage now though is facing a terminal diagnosis of brain cancer. His story and this conversation about how he's facing this diagnosis is remarkable. When we talk about living boldly, Johnny Ruffo embodies this approach. Johnny has performed onstage with international hip hop superstars Salt ‘N Pepa & toured with One Direction, Backstreet Boys and NKOTB. (new kids on the block) After finishing in the top 3 on X-Factor 2011, Johnny went on to win Dancing with the Stars in 2012 & shortly after Johnny arrived in Summer Bay as Chris Harrington and was a regular on Home and Away until 2016. In this conversation Johnny shares how he's been part of some extraordinary experiences from his first ‘gig' at the bowl to meeting Beyonce. Johnny shares how his world was turned upside down 5 years ago when he woke in hospital to be told he'd had brain surgery to remove cancer. Johnny is continuing to undergo treatment for his disease and is real, pragmatic, about his prognosis. Johnny has recently added Author to his list of talents with the up coming release of his first memoir ‘No Finish Line'. Men who fought for a country that, sadly, didn't know much about them at the time, and had to fight for recognition at every turn because of racism. And as Victor approaches his 100th birthday on May 21st, all this man wants is birthday cards from people all over the country. So, takes some time today and make a true American hero's day.
