(PLEASE FIX IT FUNIMATION, #KBYETHX!)--For Anime of the Year, we settle on Jujutsu Kaisen (cour 2), obviously! (because we haven't finished Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1 yet, duh!)--For Best Boy, it's hard to say but we all settle on either Senku Ishigami from Dr. STONE and Izumi Miyamura from Horimiya!--For Best Girl, we chose Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket The Final Season, Nobara Kugisaki and Jujutsu Kaisen (cour 2) and Shoko Komi from Komi Can't Communicate!--For Best Protagonist, we chose Yuji Itadori! (because we haven't watched the other shows/we don't talk about WONDER EGG PRIORITY)--For Best Antagonist, we chose Tomura Shigaraki from My Hero Academia Season 5 and Echidna from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 (which doesn't make sense because she is clearly a misunderstood protagonist)--For Best Fight, we chose Yuji Itadori & Aoi Todo vs. Hanami and Vivy vs. Yugo Kakitani (FOR OBJECTIVE REASONS, VIVY SHOULD WIN BUT WHATEVER)--For Best Animation, we chose Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaibu Mugen Train Arc and Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song- (STILL SO GOOD WITHOUT A MOVIE'S BUDGET)--For Best Opening, we chose Kaibutsu by YOASOBI from BEASTARS (clearly, the best opening) and VIVID VICE by Who-ya Extended from Jujutsu Kaisen (cour 2) (BECAUSE OF BIAS, OBVIOUSLY)--For Best Film, we chose Belle, the rightful winner but for "emotional value", Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train!Conclusion:-Happy one-year anniversary to us, can't believe we made it, don't know how we got here but thank you all!Credits:(Cloudy and New Day ) by KODOMOi (https://soundcloud.com/kodomoimusic)Creative Commons - Attribution 3.0 Unported - CC BY 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...)Music promoted by Music Panda - Vlog No Copyright Free MusicVideo Link: https://youtu.be/jmuJp29d57QPlease email us any recommendations to anithreepodcast@gmail.comInstagram: anithreepodcastRenee's sticker shop:  hanikostudiosSupport the show (https://buymeacoffee.com/anithreepodcast)

Kat, Leo, and Bcom return to cover the anime that aired during Week 8 of the Spring 2020 season. In the latest episode of Wave, Listen to Me, we learn the hilarious story behind Minare’s strange name. Shinako is finally starting to confront her true feelings for Rikuo, while Rikuo wonders why he’s relieved that they haven’t take things to the next level, in the latest episode of Sing Yesterday. My Next Life as a Villainness engages in some isekai-ception, which has us wondering how deep the layers of isekai will go. An otherwise cute episode of Kakushigoto, about Hime naming their new dog and wanting a birthday party, also drip feeds us more info about her mother’s past. It becomes clear that Akito views Tohru Honda as his rival for the love of the Soma family, and it seems they’re going to end up on a collision course as Fruits Basket’s drama continues to build. Princess Connect falls victim to the episode 8 curse, and panders to its gacha game audience. Kaguya continues its excellent, but frustrating run, with a big tease where we almost see the main characters trick themselves into breaking through their détente. And finally, BNA’s latest episode teaches us that all cops are dogs, literally.Recorded June 25, 2020.Timestamps:1:23 - Nonsense (Kat talks about her continuing camping adventures, Leo raves about his Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, Bcom reviews The Last of Us Part II)15:19 - Wave, Listen to Me! Another centers around Sawa Mitoma, aka NegaTohru, as she suffers abuse from her single mother and meets the Sohma kids in high school. In this podcast, Fruits Basket fanatic Jacob and Shojo & Tell host Ashley get into whether this sequel series stands on its own, whether it's worth reading, how Takaya handles the same themes but with different power dynamics between the characters, and of course, and who the best Sohma kid is. Fruit Basket lui a permis de découvrir le personnage de Tohru qui deviendra pour elle un exemple de douceur et gentillesse. Quant à Nana, ce manga a fait émerger chez Acekid, ou Julia, son amour de la mode japonaise.

Kat, Leo and Bcom return to break down the 3rd week of the Spring 2019 anime season! After an intro where Kat channels her perfect impression of Laura Bailey’s Tohru Honda, Bcom kicks off the nonsense section by warning people off SAO: Alicization, and raving about Nichijou. Kat gives her spoiler-filled thoughts on the 3rd and 4th episodes of the final season of Game of Thrones. She then somehow traumatizes herself by comparing Kyou’s “dud” rice balls with Bertie Bott’s booger-flavored beans in our discussion of this week’s Fruits Basket. Kat also predicts that Leo will die due to a lack of chives in his diet. Leo can’t get over Doppio’s bizarre name and Kat fact-checks the amount of iron that would be available in the human body to pull off some of Risotto’s stand powers. Nezuko catches up on some much-needed sleep while Tanjiro spends 2 years on an epic shounen training arc in Demon Slayer. Bcom feels like Dororo’s latest episode covered some of the same ground unnecessarily, but Kat was more focused on the viability of sexing up a ghoul. Attack on Titan started a few weeks late, so we finally get a chance to dive into the first episode of season 3’s second half. Let’s be honest, it’s just season 4. Kat has some Tank Top Trouble telling characters apart in One Punch Man and her inner gyaru girl leaks out. We have a butt suckin’ good time talking about Enta’s hallucinations in the latest episode of Sarazanmai. Bcom is pissed that everyone ordered the same exact pizza at Carole and Tuesday’s meeting with their new manager, and Kat explains that no girl in their right mind goes swimming in full make-up. We also debate the realism of New Yorkers joining in with the Dancing Laundry musical scene, rather than yelling at the girls to shut up.Recorded May 6, 2019. Jacob explains why Akito is such a compelling character, and he and Ashley delve into the series’ handling of gender overall. But most importantly, Jacob and Ashley finally get to talk about ALL THE SHIPS (including some that didn’t sail) in the most massive Shipping Corner to date. Obviously, Kyo and Tohru OTP.NOTE: Apologies for the subpar audio quality in this episode. The Skype connection was worse than usual, and unfortunately Jacob’s local track was corrupted. There is at least one instance where Jacob cut out for several seconds. It is easy to infer what he said from where he picks up, but it’s still not great. Covers volumes 9-16 of Fruits Basket by Natsuki TakayaMassive Furuba fan and Anime News Network editor Jacob Chapman is back to discuss the middle third of Takaya’s classic with Shojo & Tell host Ashley. Most of the dark, dark Sohma family secrets have been revealed this time around, and Tohru is in turmoil over Kyo’s fate. But we’re saving most of the Kyo talk for the third and final podcast! This time, Yuki’s struggles shine after his confrontation with Akito. The particular pains of motherhood — with Tohru’s mother complex and many of the Sohma’s crummy parents — are scrutinized at length. And Jacob explains how Fruits Basket accurately captures the cyclic nature of abuse. It’s a heavy episode, but then, there’s also talk about how the play “Sorta Cinderella” is very funny. Covers volumes 1-8 of Fruits Basket by Natsuki TakayaAt the height of the mid-2000s manga boom in the US, there was no bigger series than Fruits Basket. And this story about orphaned Tohru Honda and the Sohma family curse has endured, getting a very special rerelease in recent years. For a series this influential, we brought on one of the biggest Furuba fans of all: Anime News Network editor Jacob Chapman. We discuss why Fruits Basket left such a lasting impression, who our favorite Sohmas are, how Tokyopop and Yen Press’ translations compare, what the curse really is, Kyo’s “true” form and the search for what’s real, Furuba’s message about belief in others, particularly as it relates to religion and family, and much, much more. Most importantly, obviously, we answer the question: Yuki or Kyo? And just think: This is only the first of three episodes about Takaya’s masterpiece.Click here for a transcript of this episodeREFERENCESFruits Basket is available from Yen Press in a very nice collector’s editionThe Fruits Basket anime is available from FunimationJacob’s Fruits Basket radio drama can still be listened to hereAn in-depth Twitter thread from Jacob comparing Yen Press’ editions to the original Tokyopop releasesOther manga Jacob keeps up with (since he doesn’t read that much manga): Attack on Titan, To Your EternityOther big shojo titles popular during Fruits Basket’s heyday: *Skip Beat, *Boys Over FlowersQuiz Segment: Can We Guess Your Chinese Zodiac Based On Your Taste In Food? Hometown of Legend) has thrilled Korean audiences with spooky tales of the supernatural. Join the members of The Korea Society as we screen two hour-long episodes of this perennial Korean favorite on Thursday, December 17. Often drawn from ancient folklore, these tales of tortured ghosts and supernatural curses have a uniquely Korean flavor, as women, forced by Confucian culture into subservient roles, return from the dead to take revenge on the men who caused them misery. The tales also touch on Korean attitudes towards justice, suggesting that the duty of the powerful to protect the powerless transcends even the grave. Screening of Haunted House and The Reincarnated Princess Thursday, December 17, 2009 – 6:30 PM The second installment of Korean Ghost Stories features two spine-tingling episodes. In Haunted House(starring Lee Duck-hwa, Lee Min-woo, and Yoo Hye-jung), the ghost of a young woman haunts the family members who sold her into a life of corruption, and two sisters return from the grave to seduce and punish the men who killed them in The Reincarnated Princess (starring Lee Jin, Kang Sung-min, and Lee Ji-hyun).
