ASURA is Charles Farewell's solo project at the intersection of Ambient, PsyTrance, and World Music. His brand-new album Renaissance shares a story of rebirth and brotherhood, bridging the gap between classical electronic music and modern ambient. In this interview, Charles discusses the challenges of releasing an album after nine years of pause and reveals the main inspirations behind his return to composing. Of course, the complementary music mix follows the interview.

2022 Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Review: Farewell Aventador

The Lamborghini Aventador has finally reached the end of the road. Launching in 2011, the Aventador jumped to the top of Lamborghini's lineup and has provided the bones for some of the company's most outlandish machines. Though the days for the V12-powered Lamborghini seem to be numbered and the Aventador is going by the wayside. Sending the Aventador off in style, Lamborghini is unleashing the LP 780-4. While that shows its horsepower in CV, the power figure becomes 769 hp in SAE. That power comes from a 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12. That V12's power travels through a seven-speed automatic and through the all-wheel-drive system. In this episode of Quick Spin, Mark Vaughn puts the final Aventador through its paces. Vaughn walks you around the LP 780-4 and highlights some of its styling features before taking you inside to describe the interior. Vaughn then takes you out on a live drive review of this Lamborghini. Expanding on his thoughts, Vaughn chats about the 2022 Lamborghini Aventador LP780-4 with host Wesley Wren. The pair talk about the Aventador's history, Lamborghini's future and more. Closing the show, the two discuss what makes the 2022 Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae special.

Lamborghini to auction the last Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Coupé as an NFT

The Aventador is coming to the end of its production run as Lamborghini electrifies its entire line-up. But intent to go out with a bang, the Italian supercar builder is selling the last ever Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Coupé as a 1/1 NFT to be auctioned at Sotheby's. Aventador NFT is Lamborghini's last hurrah for petrol power The Lamborghini drop will be the world's first NFT-physical supercar auction. Responsible for creating the NFT artwork and music are contemporary artists Krista Kim and Steve Aoki. In describing her artistic inspiration for the project, Kim spoke of “higher states of consciousness” meeting with “leading-edge technology & design.” While Aoki, who was tasked with the soundtrack, said the music reflects the “soulful energy — the vibe, the spirit, and the power” of the car. Not only will the winning bidder own the last ever V12 petrol-powered Aventador, but they will also become immortalized as part of the brand's legacy and have access to a range of VIP benefits. This includes exclusive virtual previews of future limited edition Lamborghini models, a private tour of the Museo Lamborghini, and a virtual “Meet and Greet” with Aoki and Kim. The CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, alluded to the NFT auction concept being an ideal way to usher in a new beginning for the firm. “we are projecting this car into the digital world. It's an end of an era, but it's also the start of a new beginning.” The death of the internal combustion engine The European Commission (EC) is set on introducing a zero-emissions target for vehicles sold after 2035. Commenting on this, Hildegard Müller, Head of Germany's VDA car lobby group said: “That would not only mean the end of the internal combustion engine, but also the end of plug-in hybrids.” Although insiders had warned the EC was planning such a move before the announcement was made in June 2021, it still came as something of a surprise. Electric cars, and their associated infrastructure, have a long way to go in terms of rivaling the convenience of filling up with petrol. Also, how would people who live in flats, or have no parking directly outside their property, charge their electric vehicles? The EC seems to be ignoring the devastating environmental and social effects of mining for battery minerals. For example, Congolese miners describe slave-like working conditions and practices as they dig for cobalt, earning as little as 30p ($0.40) an hour. Also, locals report contaminated water supply due to the use of large amounts of groundwater to extract lithium. Nonetheless, Lamborghini, and other manufacturers, are falling in line with the EC and pushing for all-electric line-ups. Bidding for the Aventador NFT drop opens on April 19, with the auction set to close on April 21.

These year-end lists seem to be getting harder and harder to curate. The sheer number of releases makes it nearly impossible to keep up and listen to all the music. Through Spotify and Bandcamp most of this music is available immediately, which is great, but it can also foster a severe case of FOMO, fear of missing out. Whether it's ambient music or indie rock/pop I am on a constant prowl for new music, sometimes at the disservice of current music which I have not given time to sink in. A list like this is obviously not a definitive "Best of" list. These are just some of my favorites from this year. Sometimes an album happens to catch me in the right mood, in the right place and it hits home. Is it better than all the other releases? Maybe. But all I know is it caught my ear at the right time, I latched on, listened, and it became one of my favorites. I made the list with a top 5 and then listed everything else alphabetically. It's way too hard to say this one is #14 while that one is #22. That being said I totally loved the top 3 on this list.    FAVORITE AMBIENT ALBUMS OF 2021: 1. I also plan on doing a mix of favorite jazz-ish tracks from this year. I have a list of several non-ambient instrumental/jazz releases that I really liked so I'll post the list and a mix of fav tracks. But first, my favorite ambient music, part one. Enjoy.   T R A C K L I S T : 00:00    Max Richter - Psychogeography [Vpices 2 on Decca] 06:30    mastroKristo - Ocean [Departures on Lost Tribe Sound ] 09:53    Dictaphone - Griot Dub [Goats & Distortions 5 on Denovali] 14:05    Alapastel - Releaseness [Ceremony on Lost Tribe Sound] 18:48    Loscil - Vespera [Clara 0n Kranky] 22:45    Arovane - Sicht [Reihen on 12k] 25:38    Aes Dana - Haphazard [(a) period. on Ultimae] 28:18    Calm Whale - Breathing EARTH [Breathing EARTH Meditation] 31:05    Merope - Vilnia [Salos on Stroom] 35:13    Dave Depper - Vienna Five [Europa on Jealous Butcher Records] 41:11    Christian Löffler - Pastoral [Parallels on Deutsche Grammophon] 44:42    Tapes and Topographies - Spec Work as Magic [Monomials on Simulacra Records] 47:23    Map & Diagrams - Mutability [Teygja Part B on Handstitched] 50:50    Igor Yalivec - Nymphaea [Still Life on Polar Seas] 55:40    Andrew Heath - Drawings from Imagined Cities [Drawings from Imagined Cities on Elm Records] 65:02    end

Spaceman's Transmissions (Ambient Music Podcast)

Welcome to another episode of Spaceman's Transmissions. As your host, I'm responsible for providing a very intensely tranquil journey to those places in your mind that wake your imaginative synapses and clear the fog. With this latest guest mix, I'm confident that we will accomplish this.I have graciously received a session a (very long) while back from a DJ named SPINNET who hails from Greece. While I had many things to deal with this summer, I am finally able to get this mix out to the world, and extremely happy to do so. If you are craving deep space that nonetheless draws you into a universe of minimal soundscapes but still leave your harmonic indulgences satisfied, you've come to the right place. Spinnet is another crafty DJ that is adept at finding perfect balances between 'felt' pulses and tapestries of melodic flow. Listening to his session brings a sense of Steve Roach-ish vibe balanced with subtle Global Communication colors. To top it off, I'm really digging on his editing and shifting of mood color. This mix will serve not only as background music but equally as foreground. Some of the best mixes that I get have me pulling the headphones off as I think that something is going on outside, as if my ears have tricked my mind into diving almost too deep. That's the way I like it.----more----Spinnet has been toying with audio software and music synthesis since 2007 as both a solo venture and with like-minded friends. Several projects have taken form by his experimentation with various styles and moods of (mostly) electronic music over the years, and his solo project (SPINNET) is birthed from all that has inspired and moved him. Usually (but not always), this translates to atmospheric and dubby grooves that were influenced by breakbeat culture. FABRICS (a collaborative project), on the other hand, consists of darker, colder, and often experimental material that is influenced by industrial aesthetics and techno culture. ONE ARC DEGREE is almost the opposite; and emotive project that builds on the melodic expressions of chillout and trance origins. Lastly, his most recent collaborative project entitled SPACE SCAVENGERS is based on the theme of sci-fi and seeks to create a futuristic representation with dub elements. You could say that Spinnet's output is nearly staggering, and his love for all things musical is reflected in what he creates. Releases of these projects can be found on music labels such as V.I.M., Deep Garnet, Ultimae, Microcosmos, From A Tree, Audio Theory, Assembly Field, and soon on Iboga, Cold Tear Records, and Blue Tunes Records (and more!). I offer you Empty As Universe; the perfect vibe for space travelers and souls seeking mind expansion. A very beautiful mix from an amazingly accomplished individual. Thank, Spinnet, for allowing me to present your beautiful session with the world. July 25th 2013 - Listen.... hear and wow! Fantastic to post a new show in the middle of summer! No summer break this season; here’s a very cool episode filled with the best electronica for your hot summer nights... The track Dreams by Astronaut Ape is coming from the brand new Microcosmos Records release called ‘Ten Minutes Eternity’. File this one under Cinematic Ambient or Soundtrack Electronica if you will.... We are in the World of Sleepers now... Carbon Based Lifeforms still amazes every time I listen to the album; pretty unique release with sweet melodic ambient tracks that one will never forget. And then... iWorld 2.0 by Astronaut Ape. Wow....! Speaking of perfect combinations sound wise: this track says it all, the beats, the synths, the claps, the echoes, the bassline; sweet and melodic so we can drift away further and further into deeper space now... On the train from Berlin to Rotterdam I was listening to older Ultimae releases when this one was on my headphones; James Murray’s album ‘When Edges Meet’ is one of those albums making you feel funny in the head... after listening to couple of tracks back to back, you’ll feel pretty disoriented in a positive sense: this is pure ambient adventure! Satisfaction guaranteed. May God have Mercy on his Sounds and Soul... the Labyrinth series by the late Pete Namlook ft. Lorenzo Montanà. Probably the best Namlook series in our collection... These two souls have worked out an intense chemistry between their musical styles.... Where beauty meets percussion is exactly where Namlook met Montanà. This release should be in every person’s collection! Nice and easy we flow into the final part of this journey... Meg Bowles album ‘The Shimmering Land’ is a beautiful place, where we can sit, walk and think about what we’ve seen so far, what plans we have for the future, it’s like walking on ‘The Isle of Dream’ and that is exactly the title of this track in the mix... Divine Emanation is the logical conclusion for Spacemusic 8.13.... hear and wow! Anima delivers a divine album called ‘Light of Aluna’. Words are not necessary, just listen to this final track (excerpt) and you’ll be ready for a great night of sleep or a big day to be alive and enjoy! June 4th 2013 - Time to go deep this episode...... meltwater, icecap, space sheep and false dawn. Just a couple of titles of tracks you will hear this episode. After our party-weekend (Celebration of the new Fresh Air! formula via Mixcloud) this is a very welcome after-party mix. The opening came to us via e-mail; JEFX makes music of all kinds, we sure do like this ambient piece! Followed by the brand new album release on Ultimae records, the new MIKTEK album called ‘Elsewhere’ is a true sweet ambient release; perfect for livingroom and bedroom. We play three tracks, you find the markers... Time for great music from Germany with Erik Seifert, music we should play more often I think... it’s adventurous and well produced, certainly tracks that tell a story and have this typical classic electronic sound we grew up with. Two tracks from two different albums, you’love the pieces and your neighbours as well. ‘Your Personal Sun’ by ASTRONAUT APE... what can we say?.... brilliant piece! Play it loud. It’s the album released on Microcosmos Records, one we’ve played more before because it’s good, very good stuff. The ‘Borderline’ track by AES DANA gives that lovely deep feeling, mixed with steady beat, fancy percussion and wide reverb.... just awesome in every situation. Special delivery; please meet Halcyon Hall, coming from Petersburg (Russia) this is Dennis D. explaining to us what electronic music really means.... I literally fell of my chair. This is a true treasure for your ears, body and soul. And you know what? The album is a free download on Soundcloud. When we asked him why he has done this he told us: “ it’s the first meet and greet with the audience, I like to offer them a free gift to introduce myself...” Go, go , go for it people! We @ spacemusic look forward to the next album by Halcyon Hall - No matter how much it will cost us... Final track by TMA ft. Martinson, a Syngate Release (Luna) We’re back now, comfortable, simply beautiful track ‘Before Midnight’, like a soundseeingtour and a trigger to play the whole mix again from start....! Feel free. April 30th 2013 - we have a new King! After 33 years Queen Beatrix (1938) is now... King Willem-Alexander (1967) and Máxima (1971) of course as his Queen. Reason enough for us to play some tracks on this very special day today and welcome you to an Orange-tinted country. To celebrate the past and future: it’s the Final Queensday in The Netherlands. “Lieve Moeder...” words by Willem-Alexander to thank Beatrix, his mother, is followed by a remarkable track performed by Krister Linder. There’s only one way to experience this song: play it loud! So many tones and details, so much beauty can be heard and the voice of the heart comes from Krister. Superbe! Sonne, ist das neue Schiller album. Guten Abend! After watching the Bluray we just wanted to treat you with at least two tracks; Revelation and Berlin/Moskau can be found on the latest album ‘Sonne’. You can buy the release in many variations, from deluxe till super-deluxe. The typical Schiller style, just very spacey, great sounding and perfectly mixed. We have one suggestion though: Schiller should pay more attention to his live performances in the sense of keeping those acts more compact, more to-the-point and having a tempting climax, all within 90 minutes. Possible? Just a thought. The F.D. Project plays ‘The Outro’ and has the old-style sound and vibes, never boring, always pleasant to listen to. We found the release from a couple of years ago ; ‘Song for the Phoenix’ by System 7, the band based around Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy; they started in the 90’s with their typical sound-baths as we call them... tons of sounds, tons of patterns, delays, hypnotic ingredients and .. fat and pumping bases! The ‘Phoenix’ track is one you will never hear on the radio, read our lips. Therefore we wanted to give you this hint so you can enjoy their album ‘Phoenix’ as we do. East of France, Mulhouse, the Hypnotique LIVE sessions part 4. Released via Ultimae.com - in one word: brilliant LIVE stuff! So very well mixed and mastered; SCANN-TEC delivers an outstanding piece of art, the sounds of man (Vladislav) and his machinery (too much to mention). Go get this one today! We’re completey lost in time now... listening to Asheni you simply have to admit: life sucks sometimes. Or is it good to know the pain, then to understand Quality Time even better? You decide. Asheni’s voice is fabulous. She (from Spain?) can be found on the iTunes Store to keep things simple. Like it was meant to be... Krister comes back again, his track ‘Ghostfriend’ sounds like an answer to the ‘Lost in Time’ track. Enjoy this flow... The track comes from the album ‘Songs from the Silent Years’ which we got from Krister personally when we visited London back in 2006, we had a meeting, small chat, hands and this CD, just before a LIVE gig. Thank you Krister! We’re still proud of your music. We’d like to thank our supporters, our donators, our executive producers. Wanna join the team? Please feel free to support the Spacemusic podcast. February 10th 2013 - ‘Under the Stars’ takes you out for a magnificent in-space cinematic experience... music that came to us via e-mail, via postal, fresh new releases, items never to be forgotten anymore. First of all David Leckenby plays this dreamy and groovy track called ‘Home’; this one really kicks off the starry night you can expect this episode. The Kahvi label dropped a song in the box that we can’t stop playing here in Rotterdam... ‘When the Sun meets the Moon’ by 4T Thieves is not only a fantastic space track, it’s a song that should be on your iPod forever! Feel the groove, hear the unique chords, enjoy the magical sounds that Nik included in this track and follow the link in the shownotes to download it for free. The new Syngate release ‘Sparkling’ is a fact! TM Solver delivers a very modern piece of work, typical sequencial moods combined with super smooth synth leads... high production level, a personal and unique style of music that makes your day. Very cool! What can we say about the next move... from Paris to Tokyo, this is probably the best electronic/downtempo record made in 2012. Meet the guys from Connect.Ohm and their release ‘9980’. Indeed they come from France and Japan. They succeeded to create an album via the web. ‘9980’ makes you silent, this one goes deep, is it a dream or is it reality? It is an Ultimae./com release for sure: should be heard on the biggest PA/HiFi speaker set you can imagine. Let it all happen from there... Winter time in Rotterdam, good reason for some coolin’ down now with Darshan Ambient, his record ‘Falling Light’ is a true blessing; peaceful tunes during today’s show under the stars... Time for the next chapter as Michael Brückner demonstrates the art of composing with the album ‘100 Million Miles Under The Stars’. Escape from the world... yes, take a few moments to absorb everything shown to you. Michael has it all under control, his synths, his thoughts, your thoughts, your moods, let this track surprise you! The Ouddorp takes continue.... we just love the album! Erren, Fleissig, Schottler and Steffen back on Spacemusic again. Especially the fact that this record was recorded in one take: Amazing! Impressive! Good food! Thanks to a tweet last week by Robert from Brisbane in Australia, we conclude this starry night with a special piece you might already know. This weekend we are very excited to bring you a chilled out, psybient mix by Philip Contamin, who records some lush downtempo under the name of Sysyphe. Check out his debut album, Running Up That Hill released on French Hadra Records. We’ve been meaning to introduce you to some of our favorite psychill artists for a while! So it’s a pleasure to have an artist select his [and our] favorite releases from labels like Aleph Zero, Space Baby, Blue Hour Sounds, and of course, Ultimae. Hope this takes you on a journey! For full track listing and more information about this mix, please visit headphonecommute.com
