Welcome our newcomers to Sequences who always surprise us with their form of electronic music added to the many thousands we’ve had the pleasure of bringing to you over the years. Construction is Nadya Peek & Marko Ahtisasri bringing a unique strong ambient laid back jazz influence sound. Syngate's latest offering A.D.S.R. is a music project of nameless people and their sound generators. A dreamer & love of creating spacious soundscapes NAmbient. The duo Phillip Wilkerson & Jourdan Laik known as Time Being, are in top form as they venture into over 70 minutes of deep-drifting, time-melting, soul-stirring bliss that hovers delicately at the fringes of darkness and light. Music composed by Sergio Mariani surrounding a Steel Guitar among other electronic instruments, to give you peace and tranquility for quiet moments of prayer, pondering, or just to take it easy and enjoy. As one of the three artists in the Band Airsculpture, Peter Ruczynski solo project Softbase is no stranger to the more esoteric and ambient side of EM, enjoy this solo ramble into different sonic worlds & finally the album Asthenosphere, according to Lethave Plank, "takes up the baton of a hypothesis that could not be proved until several decades after it was formulated, and in the romantic idea of a dream that survives its creator". With this edition it’s another interesting mix, pushing the boundaries of electronic music. It’s always good to have the female side of the genre, speaking of which, two grace our airways, Angelina Yershova exploration of evocative textures, synthesized with the experimental explorations of the piano & the minimalistic ambient side to Jodie Lowther. Expressive ambient music of Giest, Neil Foster & Bengalfuel, promoted by The Ambient Zone. Chill-out to Glint’s Incisive rhythms and intense melodies. Touching on the Berlin School influence on Syngate, Dask. Uplifting, beautiful, ambient styles with mesmerizing soundscapes from Daniel Dorobantu, Obukhovaudio, Kelly David and from Tang's current bandleader, Thorsten Quaeschning, a live solo outing at the Ambient Wave Festival in Munich 2019, are some of the musicians appearing in our second show of this month. Hope you all enjoyed our split edition of Sequences. Strangely on one of the music sites the ambient side had more hits, which I didn’t expect, anyway, back to our usual mix of EM. We welcome Robert Scott Thompson with a preview of his up and coming albums ‘Pluviophilia’ 1 & 2, combining his mastery of electro acoustic contemporary instrumental & advance grade genres. Louis Sterling from Mick’s original hometown in the UK, showing capacious acoustics, washed with soft reverb and distant voices, creating a dream-like atmosphere. “Linear A” by zZyzx, electro-acoustic compositions featuring harp & cello. The overlapping overtone textures and the sounds created by the piano’s intricate mechanism, by Jan Wagner, another majestic score from Andy Pickford, with a ton more sequencers & arpeggiator sounds. New to Syngate, Japanese musician Shinpal, with the track we chose ‘Boundary Of Nature’ which has roots in the music of Manuel Gottsching, just a few of the players to show a wealth of diverse electronics, not to everyones taste, but as Kauto said: “open your mind…………..” Blast from the past comes from the legendary Conrad Schnitzler, a more accessible track from the album “Gelb”, sadly he passed away in 2011. Enough of the blurb, lets the music begin with Caterina Barbieri, giving us hypnotic modular patterns, live in Helsinki. Shocked & sad to hear recently the passing of two fine musicians, Charles Thaxton & Gert Van Santen, who have graced our genre in electronic music over the years. Charles known as Char-el, was a California based synthesist and keyboardist/composer, performing in many bands and solo concerts for over 40 years, mixing in the progressive rock/symphonic new age territory. Gert Van Santen was a member of Wave World, a Dutch/Canadian multimedia project attracting quite a lot of attention for its fascinating music and enchanting shows. During live performances, their impressive music was blended with computer-generated graphics of a virtual world, projected on huge screens, both these musicians were very likable, creative human beings, with the legacy of their music, which will live on in our hearts & minds. You will hear on this edition, Andy Pickford’s new release Biosphere, which has a very filmic feel, full of strong rhythms, sequences, melodies, and symphonic themes. Syngate presents Colin Rayment’s new album FRB, stands for Fast Radio Bursts, only recently discovered very unusual repeating signals from distant galaxies.. London based electronic act Echaskech, a unique and compelling amalgamation of sound. Tangram, music & name obviously points a finger in the Tangerine Dream direction. Ambient soundscapes from Massergy, are created entirely outdoors within a nature preserve, creating colorful and melodic arrangements, featuring deep bass tones, swirling textures and expressive improvisation. Two collaborations with Michael Bruckner on ’Polar Vortex’ with Mathias Grassow a master of dark ambient & drone music & Volker Lankow, Berlin based percussionist on ‘Monsoon Offerings’. Vidna Obmana’s re-release of Landscape In Obscurity, a long exploratory driftscape, integrating spacious and atmospheric performances on flute and saxophone. The slow and drifting peaceful ambient soundscapes from Bing Satellites, with many more engaging sounds to create an atmosphere beyond the norm of accessible popular music. August 29th 2013 - show 8.14 is an intense mix of ambient and electronica from this planet and beyond. Sometimes our blue planet is getting too small and too scary. As a reaction, this show is a ticket to a place where you can feel safe and relaxed. Enjoy! Let’s start slowly... with Shane Morris and Mystified; the track is called ‘a struggling new form of life’. Not only do we like this title so much, it sets the theme for this mix like no other track could do. Superb! Arriving september 10th but already on our show.... the brand new album by Darshan Ambient! First you hear ‘Fields’, later in this mix the title track of the album called ‘Little Things’. The album? Not little at all ;-) Back from the silence.... it’s Planet Boelex! As soon as you hear the sounds you will recognize the typical Boelex approach; two tracks back to back, a collaboration between Boelex/Mosaik and a track by Boelex himself. Also check the 8.14 LOG file for more info about this brand new EP release. It really seems like yesterday we played the first track by PB on our show.... remember Swamp Gas back in 2005?.... Syngate releases presents: KIKAI. Ready for music inspired by machines and sounds from the early days of synthesizer music? It’s beautiful and gives us a chance to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the view.... See that crazy blue planet through the window? That’s where we started this journey... Music from Berlin then; incredible melodies and sounds by two amazing guys: Modeselektor and Apparat. Just listen. Don’t think. Don’t ask why. Say hello to Schiller! From the ultrasuperdeluxe edition of ‘Sonne’ we took the third album ‘Sonnenwelten’ for a magical bridge between the two Moderat pieces in this mix. Sonnenwelten is 100% instrumental and space proof. Damage Done by Moderat ... till the tears roll down your face. So, let’s start this show now. (Kidding!) The band with a name I can’t write down without triple checking; Oneohtrix Point Never. File this under: psychedelic ambient or cinematica if you will. Original thinking and beautifully done. Must hearthis one multiple times! Around the corner we sense Dust in the air; Solar Fields at his best. We’re now past a certain point in this mix where you probably feel what this episode tries to express.... The ‘Little Things’ track by Darshan Ambient starts playing; slowly moving, grooving, subtle sounds and spectres, flowing into the music by Janneh from Finland. Your body is floating now.... don’t fight it, just let it all happen! Experimental / Dark Ambient comes from the 2007 release by Joe Frawley, a piece that popped-up here fon the computer all of sudden ... The Tangerine album; it’s like good wine: tracks getting better every year, we still love the album! And it goes so very well with our next transition... That’s the final ambient piece for this mix: a T.S.R. production... when Carbon Based Lifeforms meets Solar Fields. Literally. Hello...? Anyone...? Aha..... everybody’s asleep now. Perfect! When you wake up, there’s a beautiful world waiting for you. At least, we hope so. Love and Light! TRACKLIST: [00:00] Welcome to Spacemusic 8.14 Chemical Reactions! April 30th 2013 - we have a new King! After 33 years Queen Beatrix (1938) is now... King Willem-Alexander (1967) and Máxima (1971) of course as his Queen. Reason enough for us to play some tracks on this very special day today and welcome you to an Orange-tinted country. To celebrate the past and future: it’s the Final Queensday in The Netherlands. “Lieve Moeder...” words by Willem-Alexander to thank Beatrix, his mother, is followed by a remarkable track performed by Krister Linder. There’s only one way to experience this song: play it loud! So many tones and details, so much beauty can be heard and the voice of the heart comes from Krister. Superbe! Sonne, ist das neue Schiller album. Guten Abend! After watching the Bluray we just wanted to treat you with at least two tracks; Revelation and Berlin/Moskau can be found on the latest album ‘Sonne’. You can buy the release in many variations, from deluxe till super-deluxe. The typical Schiller style, just very spacey, great sounding and perfectly mixed. We have one suggestion though: Schiller should pay more attention to his live performances in the sense of keeping those acts more compact, more to-the-point and having a tempting climax, all within 90 minutes. Possible? Just a thought. The F.D. Project plays ‘The Outro’ and has the old-style sound and vibes, never boring, always pleasant to listen to. We found the release from a couple of years ago ; ‘Song for the Phoenix’ by System 7, the band based around Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy; they started in the 90’s with their typical sound-baths as we call them... tons of sounds, tons of patterns, delays, hypnotic ingredients and .. fat and pumping bases! The ‘Phoenix’ track is one you will never hear on the radio, read our lips. Therefore we wanted to give you this hint so you can enjoy their album ‘Phoenix’ as we do. East of France, Mulhouse, the Hypnotique LIVE sessions part 4. Released via Ultimae.com - in one word: brilliant LIVE stuff! So very well mixed and mastered; SCANN-TEC delivers an outstanding piece of art, the sounds of man (Vladislav) and his machinery (too much to mention). Go get this one today! We’re completey lost in time now... listening to Asheni you simply have to admit: life sucks sometimes. Or is it good to know the pain, then to understand Quality Time even better? You decide. Asheni’s voice is fabulous. She (from Spain?) can be found on the iTunes Store to keep things simple. Like it was meant to be... Krister comes back again, his track ‘Ghostfriend’ sounds like an answer to the ‘Lost in Time’ track. Enjoy this flow... The track comes from the album ‘Songs from the Silent Years’ which we got from Krister personally when we visited London back in 2006, we had a meeting, small chat, hands and this CD, just before a LIVE gig. Thank you Krister! We’re still proud of your music. We’d like to thank our supporters, our donators, our executive producers. Wanna join the team? Please feel free to support the Spacemusic podcast. Thanks to you this show is possible: a single dollar by every listeners would even guarantee this show can stay online for the next 5 years. March 24th 2013 - the coldest day of this century, at least in Holland. The wind is cutting faces today so we stay inside, listen to music, sleep some extra, and record this legendary show series, Lucid Dreams. This volume 5 will take you away from your daily life, further from the ground than ever before. It’s time to dream. The opening is done by Ben Cox, from his album On Water it sets the tone to kind of ‘Jazzy’ atmospheres which makes it possible to go anywhere... The Montreal duo Elsiane performs a track that you’ll only hear on a show like this... Vertigone is not your average song, but most excellent as the glue between Ben Cox and Steve Roach, the Back to Life album shows another super ambient side of Steve; we go deeper now, total relaxation, switch of the ‘Think’ mode. We’ve arrived now @ the Luna project of Syngate Records, Pete Farn dreams along in the Schwebewald. Completely unique sound and style, Pete has already delivered 11 albums via Syngate to we suggest to check them out as well. Tired of a busy week, the extra hours of sleep are well deserved. An Urban Meditation plan by Pete Namlook is the icing on this cake... Pete, may he rest in peace, touches the soul with the repetitive ingredient this time, after listening to the Air and Silence series you might be surprised that Namlook created this style of music for us. Just follow your dream now... Very subtle... the radio starts making sounds... a living radio built of human components; meet Radio Free Clear Light. Poetry, graphic art, video editing, music or a combination of it all. RFCL has a focus on Form rather than content. Three tracks in a row and you still have the feeling that you didn’t move right? You didn’t. We’re traveling without moving. Michael Frenkel’s project Aspectee shines a light on the unknown. Bail a Cerder creates the floating phase, intense tranparent and organic at the same time, hypnotizing experiences at the 46 minutes mark of this episode. The atmospheric drone soundscapes that arise now, are made by Shane Morris and Mystified, two very talented composers of ambient-atmospherics. This part comes from the Epoch album, the first installment of a trilogy about prehistoric time and evolution. Epoch uses no electronic sources or synths - only acoustic sounds. February 10th 2013 - ‘Under the Stars’ takes you out for a magnificent in-space cinematic experience... music that came to us via e-mail, via postal, fresh new releases, items never to be forgotten anymore. First of all David Leckenby plays this dreamy and groovy track called ‘Home’; this one really kicks off the starry night you can expect this episode. The Kahvi label dropped a song in the box that we can’t stop playing here in Rotterdam... ‘When the Sun meets the Moon’ by 4T Thieves is not only a fantastic space track, it’s a song that should be on your iPod forever! Feel the groove, hear the unique chords, enjoy the magical sounds that Nik included in this track and follow the link in the shownotes to download it for free. The new Syngate release ‘Sparkling’ is a fact! TM Solver delivers a very modern piece of work, typical sequencial moods combined with super smooth synth leads... high production level, a personal and unique style of music that makes your day. Very cool! What can we say about the next move... from Paris to Tokyo, this is probably the best electronic/downtempo record made in 2012. Meet the guys from Connect.Ohm and their release ‘9980’. Indeed they come from France and Japan. They succeeded to create an album via the web. ‘9980’ makes you silent, this one goes deep, is it a dream or is it reality? It is an Ultimae./com release for sure: should be heard on the biggest PA/HiFi speaker set you can imagine. Let it all happen from there... Winter time in Rotterdam, good reason for some coolin’ down now with Darshan Ambient, his record ‘Falling Light’ is a true blessing; peaceful tunes during today’s show under the stars... Time for the next chapter as Michael Brückner demonstrates the art of composing with the album ‘100 Million Miles Under The Stars’. Escape from the world... yes, take a few moments to absorb everything shown to you. Michael has it all under control, his synths, his thoughts, your thoughts, your moods, let this track surprise you! The Ouddorp takes continue.... we just love the album! Erren, Fleissig, Schottler and Steffen back on Spacemusic again. Especially the fact that this record was recorded in one take: Amazing! Impressive! Good food! Thanks to a tweet last week by Robert from Brisbane in Australia, we conclude this starry night with a special piece you might already know. We introduced our fleet to this song 7 years ago. Robert found this one really his favorite as the closing track of show #54 back in Spacemusic Season 1. Do you have any idea which track we play?...
