Have you ever wondered if we're slowly losing our humanity in the rush to adopt AI? Every day, another marketer proclaims they've automated their entire workflow, created the perfect AI system, or generated flawless content. But what if perfection isn't what your audience really wants? The truth is, we're facing an unprecedented challenge in marketing. As AI tools become more sophisticated, they're creating a world of perfect content, pristine images, and meticulously crafted messages. But in this pursuit of perfection, we're at risk of losing the very thing that makes marketing effective - our human touch. That's why I'm thrilled to welcome long-time friend and colleague Mark Schaefer to the show today. Mark is one of the world's most recognized marketing experts, a globally-acclaimed keynote speaker, and the author of 10 best-selling marketing books. His blog {grow} is consistently ranked among the top marketing blogs worldwide, and his latest book "Audacious: How Humans Win in an AI Marketing World" couldn't be more timely. Mark has worked with organizations like Microsoft, Adidas, and Johnson & Johnson, helping them navigate the intersection of technology and human connection in marketing. The AI Hat Podcast host Mike Allton asked Mark Schaefer about: ✨ Human Authenticity Wins: Creating authentic, imperfect content that resonates with real people outperforms AI-generated perfection. ✨ Balance is Critical: Success lies in finding the sweet spot between AI efficiency and human creativity. ✨ Shared Experiences Matter: Building community and creating shared moments will become increasingly valuable in an AI-driven world. Happy new year. For many of us, this is a time of contemplating and deliberately creating the new year. A time for envisioning what we want to do better, differently this year. A time for starting and breaking habits. Each January for a few years, I’ve taken on Chris Brogan‘s invitation to set three words as a focus for the year. Chris Brogan is an American author, journalist, marketing consultant, and speaker about social media marketing I’ve had the pleasure to meet and interview a few times. He has really great books like The Impact Equation, Trust Agents and one of my fave titles - The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth - Entrepreneurship for Weirdos, Misfits, and World Dominators. A couple of weeks back, Chris did a one-hour webinar where he talked through how to pick your three words, how to incorporate their usage into your day to day planning and execution, and how to use the My 3 Words method for deciding how best to make decisions that closely match your intentions. Chris says this about his process: “Every year, at the beginning of the year, choose 3 words that have personal meaning to you that you will use as guideposts for your chosen path forward in the coming year. Make the words such that they influence your choice of actions, encourage you to decide in favour of your goals, and guide you towards lasting results that you want to experience throughout the year.” So, after a few days of tossing around words that might be a good fit, I came up with my three words. Listen to hear: How to choose your 3 words for 2020 What author James Clear means by: “You should be far more concerned with your current trajectory than with your current results.” Why your acceptance levels will determine which goals you get How to align your actions with your chosen words Also mentioned in this episode: Atomic Habits, James Clear Subscribe to the HerBusiness Podcast for more great interviews with inspiring entrepreneurs. #episodeGBR7 Does your marketing material reflect who you really are? Or are you trying to hide your dents and copy what’s worked for others? More and more, consumers are making decisions based on belonging, buying from businesses that reflect their values. So, how do we learn to stop faking it, show up as ourselves, and earn the right to serve? Chris Brogan is president of Chris Brogan Media, a marketing firm that teaches clients how to build stronger connections and earn customer (and employee) loyalty. He is also a popular keynote speaker and nine-time New York Times bestselling author. Chris has spoken for or consulted with the biggest brands you know, including Disney, Coca Cola and Google, among many others. He was honored by Forbes as one of the Must-Follow Marketing Minds of 2014, and Statsocial rated Chris the #3 Online Power Influencer. His forthcoming book is called Dented: Retrofitting Humans for the Modern Digital World. On this episode, Chris offers insight around using technology to automate versus personalize, explaining when it’s crucial to apply the human touch. He discusses the trend to buy from businesses that share our values and shares the marketing mistake of using templates without making the content our own. Chris also gets personal about depression and anxiety, describing his approach to overcoming fear with movement. Listen in to understand how embracing our flaws and being okay with where we are makes us MORE attractive and learn how showing up as yourself is the BEST way to market your business! In this episode you’ll learn… Chris’ insight around using tech to automate vs. personalize. How to choose when it’s best to apply the human touch. The trend to buy from companies that share our values. The marketing mistake of thinking the recipe is the dinner. Chris’ approach to overcoming anxiety with movement. Why failure is NOT reflection of our self-worth. How true belonging involves embracing our flaws. How being OK with where we are makes us more attractive. The impact Chris is making with clients of all sizes. How Chris defines success as the freedom to say NO. Chris Brogan, CEO of Owner Media Group, sought-after public speaker, and New York Times bestselling author of nine (soon-to-be 10) books, shares the essential mindset elements to build relationships in business. Chris Brogan’s Journey Chris started out as a blogger in 1998, but many years passed until wide audiences started paying attention to his message. He embarked in collaborative projects with friends until finally, through funding from another company, he started a consulting business to help entrepreneurs figure out digital media and the online space. Chris's no-nonsense approach to business, hard work, and dedication helped him become a notable influencer. He has spoken for or consulted with the biggest brands you know, including Disney, Coke, Google, GM, Microsoft, and many more. People like Paulo Coelho, Harvey Mackay, and Steven Pressfield enjoy sharing their projects and best ideas with Chris, because they know he’ll share them with you. Forbes listed Chris as one of the Must Follow Marketing Minds of 2014, plus listed his website as one of the 100 best websites for entrepreneurs. Statsocial rated Chris the #3 power influencer online. Building authority and creating new connections Grow your audience and connections by leveraging your skills Chris created his own content platform (blog), which allowed him to build authority, but that alone wasn't enough to expand his reach. He leveraged his writing skills as a guest blogger for prominent sites so he could reach a much wider audience. The essential mindset to build long-lasting connections In a few words: Be genuine and always be guided by your values. He doesn't use formal systems when it comes to networking. instead, he tries to directly relate and connect with the person he wants to build a relationship with. For Chris, a measure of success is “being able to say no to the things I don’t want to do.” When there's a disjoint between a business proposal and what he stands for, he simply moves on. Clear communication is key. Chris spells out what he will and will not do early in every business relationship, setting the stage for long-lasting connections built on trust. One thing you’re most excited about Chris is excited about fast-evolving technologies and how they'll affect businesses. Voice technology, artificial intelligence, and chatbots are changing the way businesses interact with their customers. He's dedicated to helping companies find better ways to connect and build trust through all these changes. Named one of Forbes' top 30 Twitter influencers in 2013, social media rockstar, best-selling author, publisher, speaker, business consultant and super nice guy Chris Brogan is today's guest. We chat about the inspiration behind his new book, The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth: Entrepreneurship for Weirdos, Misfits, and World Dominators. I met Chris at the Agents of Change social media conference in Portland Maine last year, where he was the keynote speaker. He hung around after his talk, and later in the afternoon, he walked up to a little group of us to tell me that he liked my lightning bolt t-shirt. So I sent him one, and he sent me back a superhero selfie. (FANCY) Last month, when I read that his new book was coming out, I congratulated him over Twitter, and then he decided to tweet about Kid Gigawatt for a month solid.
