Marketing leaders are being asked to drive more growth with less budget, fewer resources, tighter timelines, and more pressure from every direction while AI is being treated like the shortcut to replace entire marketing teams. But AI will not fix bad strategy, weak alignment, poor customer understanding, or broken marketing fundamentals. In part two of this master class conversation with Matt Hummel, CMO of Pipeline360, the focus moves into what it really takes to become the kind of CMO AI cannot replace. Not by chasing every new tool, adding more MarTech, or hiding behind automation, but by understanding the business as a whole, building trust across departments, speaking the language of revenue, and creating alignment between marketing, sales, product, leadership, and the customer. To lead marketing in a volatile market where expectations keep rising and the old playbook is no longer enough, you need to know how to: • Make sales an ally instead of your bitter rival • Build shared pipeline ownership across marketing and sales  • Communicate risk without becoming defensive • Connect marketing decisions to the larger goals of the business • Set clearer expectations with your team and leadership • Understand resource constraints without using them as excuses • Stay close to customers while leading strategy • Create momentum without pretending there is an easy button The best marketing leaders are not just managing campaigns, tools, reports, and dashboards. They are translating complexity into strategy the business can trust. The reminder is clear: AI will not fix bad strategy. More MarTech will not fix bad marketing. The CMO AI cannot replace is the one who understands the business, earns trust, aligns with sales, leads the team, knows the customer, and gets back to real marketing when everyone else is hiding behind tools. Marketing Espresso

Send us Fan MailWhat actually works in marketing right now? That's the question I keep hearing from business owners everywhere - from solo operators through to multi-million dollar companies. The reality is, a lot of the old marketing playbooks simply aren't working the way they used to. Social media feels crowded, attention spans are fragmented, AI-generated content is flooding feeds, and consumers are becoming more cautious about who they trust and where they spend their money. In this episode of Marketing Espresso, I sit down with Brook McCarthy to unpack what she calls The Momentum Effect - and honestly, this conversation lit me up.We dive deep into why momentum in marketing isn't about being perfectly consistent. It's about being committed. Committed to your message, committed to your relationships, committed to showing up in ways that actually create connection over time.Brook shares why she believes relationship-building is still the most powerful marketing strategy available, especially in a market where people are craving trust, authenticity, and genuine human interaction more than ever before. We talk about the shift away from transactional marketing and why audiences are becoming increasingly resistant to surface-level content and one-way broadcasting. Instead, the brands and businesses standing out right now are the ones creating conversations, building communities, and making people feel something. This episode also explores the impact AI is having on marketing and consumer behaviour. While AI is changing the way businesses create content, it's also increasing the need for human connection. Brook explains why businesses with strong opinions, personality, integrity, and emotional connection are going to become even more valuable in the years ahead. We also discuss: Why “be consistent” might actually be terrible marketing advice  The difference between consistency and commitment  How to create momentum in your marketing without burning yourself out  Why relationship-building should be part of your marketing strategy  The role community plays in modern business growth  How social media has shifted from connection to performance  Why consumers are becoming more selective about who they trust  The importance of conversation over broadcasting  How to become more memorable in your industry  Why your opinions and personality matter more than ever One of my favourite parts of this conversation was Brook's reminder that people don't just want content anymore - they want connection. They want to feel understood. They want businesses and brands that actually stand for something. If you've been feeling frustrated by marketing lately, overwhelmed by social media, or unsure how to stand out in an increasingly noisy world, this episode is such an important listen.Because maybe the future of marketing isn't about more content.Maybe it's about deeper connection.Connect with Brook here:[w] BrookMcCarthy.com[w] HustleandHeart.com.auDOWNLOAD MY CONTENT PLANNERInstagram @bec_chappellLinkedIn – Bec Chappell If you're ready to work together, I'm ready to work with you and your team. How to work with me:1. Send us Fan MailAI is making marketing “look” easier, but it's also making brands harder to tell apart. We're sharing an edited version of a private keynote where I explain the real shift happening right now: AI doesn't just democratise competence, it commoditises it and that collapse of differentiation forces CMOs, agency owners, and marketing leaders to rebuild how they create value.I walk through why the future CMO isn't the person with the biggest AI stack, but the leader who understands what AI cannot replace. We get concrete about the first and most important edge: trust. Attention can be bought, borrowed, or hacked, but trust drives pricing power, faster recovery from crises, stronger retention, and more referrals. I also break down a trust ROI approach that links NPS, referral velocity, retention, and reputation recovery to revenue so trust stops being “brand fluff” and starts living on an executive dashboard. From there, we move from content volume to a defensible point of view. If a competitor could swap their logo onto your content and it still feels right, you're producing competent noise. A clear position attracts community, not just audience, and community compounds credibility through participation over time. We close with the most uncomfortable truth: AI doesn't fix a lack of leadership, it amplifies it, and the CMO role is being reconstructed around value, trust, and strategic judgment.Listen, share it with a marketing leader who needs the reset, and if it helps, subscribe and leave a 5-star review so more people find the show. This episode is repurposed from a webinar for the More Agencies network on May 12, 2026. Favour Obasi-ike explains that monthly sales are a result of continuous effort and "property" building. By treating every new page as an asset, businesses can create multiple entry points for customers, much like a physical storefront with multiple doors.Favour emphasizes that a website is not just an information portal; it is your primary business asset. The discussion centers on the concept of "page depth"; the idea that your website's value increases as you add more entry points for potential customers. By benchmarking your progress (aiming for at least one new page per week), you can build a robust library of content that the algorithm indexes, ensuring long-term visibility. The episode also dives into the distinction between "money pages" and "information pages." Favour Obasi-ike, MBA, MS breaks down the semantic web SEO concept of "page indexing," explaining that it is simply the process by which search engines discover, crawl, and store your web pages in their database. Using a library analogy, he explains that just as a library must log a newly purchased book before patrons can find it on the shelf, Google must index your pages before users can discover them in search results.Favour emphasizes that high-quality content is practically invisible if it hasn't been properly indexed. He also walks the audience through the technical steps of verifying a domain via Google Search Console and stresses the importance of owning your hosting and DNS records.Who is this for? This content is tailored for business owners, content creators, podcasters, and website managers who want to understand fundamental SEO concepts to increase their online visibility and website traffic.Key MomentsSegment 1: Introduction to page indexing and how it builds long-term business visibility.Segment 2: Step-by-step technical guide to setting up Google Search Console and submitting sitemaps.Segment 3: Understanding how accidental "no-index tags" can hide your website from the internet.Segment 4: How third-party platforms (like Apple Podcasts and Spotify) generate indexed links that boost your search presence.Segment 5: The "Library Analogy" explaining why indexing is simply digital storage.Segment 6: The importance of controlling your Domain Name Server (DNS) and hosting platforms.FAQsWhat is page indexing? It is the process where search engines discover, crawl, and store web pages into their database, making them searchable and eligible to appear in search results. Ultimately, indexing simply means "storage on the web".Why isn't my website showing up on Google?Your site might not be indexed. This can happen if you haven't submitted your sitemap to Google Search Console, or if your site has default "no-index tags" that actively tell Google to ignore your pages.Does podcasting help with indexing?Yes. Favour Obasi-ike, MBA, MS leads a deep dive into why website organic traffic drops and how to fix it. Joined by experts like Brandon, RockI, and Celese, the discussion highlights the ~24-month lifecycle of SEO content and the dangers of "content decay". The panel explores the value of building trust via high-quality backlinks, local SEO for businesses, and whether paid Meta/Google ads ultimately help or hurt organic reach. Favour emphasizes that organic traffic is a long-term investment, comparing un-updated web pages to un-renovated houses losing their value.Who is this for? This content is ideal for digital marketers, SEO specialists, small business owners, real estate investors, and tech founders looking to build sustainable organic growth, diagnose web traffic drops, and navigate the relationship between paid advertising and organic reach.Key MomentsThe 24-Month Cycle: Favour explains that traffic drops often stem from "content decay," where posts lose freshness after 24 months without updates.Backlinks as a "Backbone": Brandon and Favour discuss how domain authority relies on high-quality backlinks from news outlets, directories, and niche communities. The Ad Rebound Effect: Rocky and Celese debate whether running Meta ads subsequently throttles organic reach due to algorithmic capitalism.Live SEO Audit: Favour does a live teardown of Cindy's real estate sites, highlighting the technical differences between WordPress and Squarespace and the importance of Google's local search updates.Sequential Timestamps[Part 1] - Introduction: Favour introduces the organic traffic cycle and the "seed planting" analogy for long-term SEO.[Part 2] - The Changing SEO Landscape: Brandon discusses how YouTube is rivaling Google and why backlinks remain the ultimate ranking factor.[Part 3] - Ads vs. Organic Debate: Rocky asks if paid ads hurt organic traction; Celeste shares a story about corporate retargeting and internet privacy.[Part 4] - Technical Foundations: Favour audits a guest's website, explaining the importance of proper CMS setups, Bing Places, and local SEO.[Part 5] - Fixing Content Decay: Favour defines content decay and provides actionable competitor research strategies before closing the room.FAQsWhy did my organic traffic suddenly drop? It is likely due to "content decay." If a post hasn't been updated in 24+ months, search engines view it as outdated. You must refresh and modify your content to maintain a positive traffic trajectory.Do paid ads improve organic traffic? Indirectly, yes. While you shouldn't rely solely on ads, paid campaigns generate traffic that signals relevance and trust to Google, which can bolster your organic presence later. What is the best way to start building backlinks? Begin by adding your business to local and niche directories (like Bright Local or Yelp). Also, engage organically in relevant communities (like Reddit or LinkedIn) to naturally generate citations.Action Steps from Favour Obasi-ikeRenovate Your Decaying Content: Look at your oldest high-performing pages. Update them to ensure the "last modified" date stays fresh, steering your website forward like the front wheels of a car.Use Google Search Console: Monitor your pages to ensure you have a diagonal upward trajectory of impressions month over month.Perform a 5-Minute Competitor Audit: Go to Google and type site:competitordomain.com. Review their top three ranking pages to see if they are utilizing FAQs, videos, or glossaries that your site is missing, then implement those features.Diversify Your Ecosystem: Don't just rely on Google. Build organic citations on Reddit, LinkedIn Newsletters, Bing Places, and Threads.Ready to Rank? Book Your SEO & Web Dev Services Today

In this episode, Nick shares how artificial intelligence could end human labor and what that means for purpose, entrepreneurship, and humanity's future. He is the founding director of the now-defunct Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University and the bestselling author of Superintelligence and Deep Utopia.
