Blogging Theology is a channel discussing comparative religion by Paul Williams, a blogger and bibliophile based in London and the South of France. The profile picture features Thomas Aquinas (died 1274) an Italian philosopher, Catholic priest, and Doctor of the Church. An immensely influential philosopher and theologian in the tradition of scholasticism he was the foremost classical proponent of natural theology and the father of Thomism. His influence on Western thought is huge, and much of modern philosophy developed or opposed his ideas, particularly in the areas of ethics, natural law, metaphysics, and political theory. I admire his extraordinary intellect and theological brilliance though I do not agree with his Trinitarianism.

Sister Virginia Gray Henry is the Director of Fons Vitae books, a non-profit academic publishing house which focuses on translating the great classical texts of Islamic Spirituality. She co-founded the Ghazali Children's Project with Sheikh Hamza Yusuf more than a decade ago. Ghazali Children's Project: https://ghazalichildren.org/Ghazali books: https://ghazalichildren.org/books/Fons Vitae Publishing https://fonsvitae.com/------The Ghazali Children's Project seeks to educate children spiritually & transform their characters by showing the inner spiritually transformative meaning behind the outer aspects of Islam. The Project aims to help support entire communities of Muslim parents, teachers, and children in realizing how to live by and embody the noble Prophetic character through self-observation and correction. The Fons Vitae Ghazali Children's Series provides authentic quality Tarbiyah guidance for children of all ages at a time when their values are being formed. Imam al-Ghazali's systematic approach for developing virtuous character is distilled and simplified and provided in an educational package which includes beautifully produced children's books, and original texts for parents and teachers. These materials offer a creative, enjoyable and spiritual supplement or alternative to standard Islamic Studies curricula with a strong focus on the purification of the heart. The aim of the Ghazali Children's Project is to support children:• in their ability to recognize and maintain their innate human dignity.• in realizing nobility of character through imitation of the Prophetic qualities realized by understanding, loving, and practicing the inner dimensions of all outward acts – to stop simply just “going through the motions”.• in becoming aware of their True Selves and in identifying with this pure aspect of their being rather than with the lower, false, egoic and separative nature which is centered on itself [al-nafs alammara].• in becoming self-observant and self-correcting.• in living life with humility and in service.Chapters:00:00:00 - Introduction to Aisha Gray Henry00:05:06 - The Trust of God and Our Purpose00:10:07 - The Harm of Gossiping and Backbiting00:15:00 - Recognizing Authentic Spirituality and the Similarity between Jesus and Muhammad00:19:35 - The Book of Knowledge for Children00:24:04 - The Polishing of the Heart00:28:30 - The Miracles of Speech and the Heart00:33:16 - Stories within Stories00:38:25 - Sharing Knowledge with Islamic Educators00:42:57 - The Parallel Between Music and CreativitySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/blogging-theology/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Dr Louay Fatoohi's personal YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@louay.fatoohi his blog https://www.louayfatoohi.com/The Hebrew Bible presents the Israelites as God's perpetually chosen people. Historically, Christians claimed that the Church replaced the Jews as God's chosen people, but in the last two centuries, a strong movement has developed that considers Israel to still be chosen, in addition to the Church. Christianity inherited from Judaism its misunderstanding of “chosen” as meaning “best”, which is irreconcilable with the history of both faiths. On the other hand, discussions of this concept in the Qur'an consistently conflate different terms and concepts. This video brings new insights to show the Qur'an's clear, consistent, and compelling explanation of the chosenness of the Israelites. It reveals the misrepresentation of this concept in Judaism, which Christianity inherited. It concludes that the chosenness of Israel ended when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent by Allah as the last Prophet.00:00 Introduction02:34 Challenges of studying “chosenness”07:55 The Abrahamic covenant in the Bible13:24 Chosen People without merit19:40 The Abrahamic Covenant in the Qur'an23:55 Concepts and terms in the Qur'an26:40 The Covenant with the Israelites33:13 Choosing and preferring Israel36:43 Chosen for hosting Prophets41:49 Custodians of the prophetic message47:10 Qur'anic subtilty53:20 Muslim prophets59:29 The killing of prophets01:05:50 The end of Israel's chosenness01:18:30 Abraham's prayer for an Ishmaelite messenger01:20:15 Misunderstanding “chosen” as “best”01:20:47 Christian misunderstanding of “chosenness”01:22:04 Replacement theology or supersessionism01:27:49 “Replacement of Scripture” theology01:33:20 Dispensationalism01:37:23 Mistaking “Chosen People” for “Best Nation”01:41:42 The “Best Nation” is all pious people01:45:59 The “Best Nation” throughout history01:49:29 Are Muslims the “Best Nation”?01:53:12 Israel's chosenness and covenant 01:54:45 SummarySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/blogging-theology/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

This lecture is an exploration of Islamic sacred law. We will see that, beyond the minutae of legal details in classical works of Islamic law, there is a larger story. These legal works provide a blue-print to a civilisational map. This civilisational map is the metaphysical Madina. Madina means city. Lexically it means the place of din, or religious moral code. The Madina of the Prophet was the first Dar al-Islam – Abode of Islamic civilisation. The institutions described in classical fiqh works are the institutions that made up the Prophetic Madina. The talk will present the key features of this civilisational map, consider its fundamental principles and values, and finally discuss what this all means for Muslims today. The conclusion is simple: Muslims, wherever they are, have only one duty: build Madina to the best of your ability.https://www.cambridgemuslimcollege.ac.uk/https://nzf.org.uk/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/blogging-theology/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
