In this episode, Asia, Jareed, and Paige discuss the concept of adulting and all of the decisions that come with it. At the ripe age of 18, our society is forced to make a decision that will determine the rest of our lives: to attend college, to attend community college, to go to trade school, to go straight to work, perhaps even none of the above. What if I told you there was no right or wrong path? There is an expectation that young people will all follow the same path. Our generation is starting to change that narrative. It is okay not to go to college, it is okay to go into a trade, it is okay to do something different than everyone around you. We live with the idea that there is one trajectory to follow and you can't make any turns off that. Asia and Jareed remind us that this is not the case and that the “norm” looks different for everyone. We must make the decisions that are best for ourselves, not simply based on what others are doing. We also discuss the different experiences that each person has with vulnerability, opening up, race + identity, mental health, and more. While it can be hard to believe at times, the hardships we face make us who we are. We can choose to react positively or negatively no matter what life throws at us. Adulting is hard. Find what makes you happy. Make decisions you support. The rest will follow! We also talk about: • Supporting others • The perception of fear • Money management • Job/work life • Doing what you love • Failure • Internal vs external processing • Empathy • Race + identity
