Drawing from personal experiences and lessons learned, Branden shares how he evolved from relying solely on visionary leadership to recognizing the importance of relational leadership. He opens up about past leadership missteps and offers a compelling case for balancing connection with direction. You'll also learn how the Key2Success Planner, especially the Professional Builder and Team Builder tools, can help you identify your leadership role each day—whether that's unifying your team or standing firm to guide them forward.

Here's the transcript formatted for a podcast: Podcast Transcript: Third Thursdays - Episode 1 Host: Branden Bodendorfer Title: Principles of Planning and Achieving Goals Branden Bodendorfer: Well, hello everyone! I'm Branden Bodendorfer, and welcome to the official first recording of Third Thursdays—a podcast designed to help motivate you into the next month and accelerate your goals. Each and every month, we'll take time to reflect, pivot, and supercharge our outcomes. Let's talk about what Third Thursdays is all about and why it's going to matter to you. This podcast is different from my traditional videos. Usually, I keep those videos clean—editing out missteps or re-shooting to make them polished. But here, I want to be raw and genuine. I want to share real thoughts and ideas with you. So, why is it called Third Thursdays? Over the last year, I started meeting with many of you during the third week of each month. It was originally a scheduling strategy to consolidate my coaching sessions into one week. But as it turned out, those third-week conversations became a pivotal moment for many of you. Some of you were crushing your goals early in the month, but others needed a push. Sometimes it was about taking the next step forward. Other times, it was about pivoting—finding what works when something wasn't clicking. And for a handful, it was about digging in and maximizing the final week of the month. Over time, I realized this process—pausing, reflecting, and adjusting mid-month—was making a difference. It wasn't just about planning; it was about creating a moment to think critically about your goals and take action. And that's the core of this podcast: to give you actionable insights and help you hit your goals with clarity and purpose. The Principles of Planning Today's topic is the Principles of Planning—a set of best practices to help you achieve your goals in all areas of life, from projects to to-do lists to personal growth. 1. Setting Clear Objectives Planning starts with clarity. You need clear, measurable, and achievable objectives. If you've used our planning system, you know about the weekly planning tool with its four quadrants: critical tasks, less urgent tasks, and more. This tool helps bring clarity, reduce anxiety, and prioritize effectively. When I set clear objectives, I approach my week with a sense of purpose and focus. 2. Being Realistic Plans should align with your resources, time, and capabilities. Let me give you a real-life example. When traveling with my wife and kids, she'll ask how long until we reach our destination. I'll estimate optimistically, only for her to say, “Google says it'll take longer.” And she's usually right! Being realistic helps you set achievable goals and avoid unnecessary frustration. 3. Flexibility Life happens. That's why I encourage scheduling with the 80/20 rule—schedule 80% of your time and leave 20% for flexibility. This allows you to adapt to unexpected changes while staying on track. Flexibility also lets you act on new opportunities or pivot when necessary. 4. Efficiency Being efficient means using your resources wisely—your time, tools, and energy. Take five minutes each morning to validate your top priorities. Organize your to-dos by work and home, or by priority, and tackle tasks when you're most equipped to handle them. Efficiency reduces waste and boosts productivity. 5. Setting Priorities Not all tasks are created equal. Take time to identify which actions will have the greatest impact. By organizing your to-dos in order of priority, you'll see better outcomes. This principle works daily and as part of your weekly planning. 6. Monitoring and Evaluating Every evening, I reflect on what I accomplished and plan for the next day. This helps me stay aligned with my goals and adjust my approach if necessary. Small, daily course corrections lead to big wins over time. 7. Communication and Participation You're not the only stakeholder in your goals. Whether it's colleagues, family, or teammates, clear communication helps everyone stay aligned. Regularly discuss progress, pivot when needed, and keep everyone informed to achieve collective success. 8. Time Management Managing time effectively means accounting for delays and distractions. Using the 80/20 rule, you can allocate time for unexpected events without derailing your plans. Stay focused, but give yourself grace when things don't go perfectly. 9. Simplicity The best solutions are often the simplest. If a task can be done in one step, don't overcomplicate it. Simplifying your process saves time and reduces stress. 10. Sustainability Long-term success comes from small, consistent actions. In Atomic Habits by James Clear, he emphasizes 1% improvements. Apply this mindset to your weekly and monthly plans, and you'll see compounding growth over time. Wrapping Up As we close this first episode of Third Thursdays, I encourage you to take a moment today to review your goals. Ask yourself: How can I end this month strong? What adjustments do I need to make? How can I stay aligned with my intentions? It's the fourth quarter, and the game isn't over. You still have time to win. Take this opportunity to reflect, reset, and finish strong. Thanks for joining me on this journey. I'll see you on the next Third Thursday. Until then, stay focused and keep moving forward. Outro: Don't forget to subscribe on Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Talk to you soon! Let me know if you'd like further adjustments!

WHICH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM SHOULD I FOCUS ON?

Social Media Platforms - Where Should you Focus Your Energy What social media platform should you be on? What are your goals for social media marketing? Why should you be on those platforms? Where do we see social media platforms going in the future? If you've ever asked yourself any of these questions, this is the podcast for you! There are so many social media platforms, it can be hard to know where to prioritize your marketing efforts: posts, blogs, longform or shortform video, podcasts? Today we're going to break down social media. Most of us don't have the bandwidth to post hundreds of pieces of content every day. First, you need to answer what are your goals with social media? Do you want followers? Do you want revenue? The overall point is to post different content across different platforms positioned in different ways. Your goals will direct how you post. If you're doing this to get your name out there as someone that has experience, knowledge, and is a contributor in your industry, to position yourself as a leader…that might be one goal. If you want your content to directly correlate to a revenue increase, that involves a different approach. Do you need the audience first or the conversion first? I look at Internet and search as the Yellow Book of today. If you want instant conversion, content is key. Listen to learn more!

Five Tips to Develop a Strong Routine

Establishing a Routine is Important to Success As we enter March, many of you have talked to me about establishing a pace for reaching your goals. I wanted to spend today's podcast talking about the importance of setting a routine. Routines give us the opportunity to introduce new habits, build stronger relationships, and help us work through those endless daily tasks. Challenges are a lot easier to overcome when you have a routine in place. Here are 5 tips to finding success through developing a strong routine. Write out your vision - Start by listing the tasks and priorities on your plate. Include daily to-do's, small tasks, and what you want to add to your plate. Chart how you want to invest your time - Allocate time for friends, family, and work. Include time for job responsibilities, as well as time for development. Create Structured Routines - In the Key2Success Planning System, we focus on 4 important routines: Morning pre-flight Morning routine Evening routine Nightly pre-launch, some like to call this wind down The philosophy is to start your day with mental readiness, followed by a morning physical routine. Then, end your day with a physical routine and by taking time to mentally review and prepare time for the upcoming day. Schedule out an ideal week - An ideal week is an important part of maintaining a routine Schedule in Flex-Time - We make plans, but life happens. By having flex time scheduled into your ideal week, you will better be able to navigate those challenges that manifest unexpectedly. Flex time also allows you to set aside time for non-routine assignments, such as getting your hair done, doctor's appointments, an any social hiccups that might introduce themselves. Routines are important because they give us the opportunity to introduce new habits we are trying to develop, build stronger relationships in our life, and even help us with working through our daily tasks.

Why is Just One More Thing so important? The Key2Success Digital Planning System's Daily Key 3 are designed to help you maximize the crucial action steps to help you achieve your goals. However, there are some days that you just can't fit it all in - and that's ok. We want to be perfect, so we get caught up in the details. I tell you from experience that it's not about being perfect, it's about taking that next step and just digging in. Focus on That One Thing that is going to help you take that next step. Doing That One Thing different, with intention, and that is going to help you maximize your productivity, itch your creativity, whatever it is you're focusing on - and you're going to find success. Don't count on electronic calendar or notifications to succeed. The goal of the planner is to help you own your time and give you the results that you need. If you're stuck on the fact that the planner doesn't integrate with your calendar or notification service…that is where your problem begins. You're allowing an electronic notification service to run your life. Become accountable for your own time. Don't allow outside forces to get into your head. Focus on what you are capable of doing! Learn why you need to dedicate one hour to help you get momentum. LISTEN as we dig more into these concepts.

In order to utilize the Annual Goals successfully, it?s important to first set priorities. So many times at the beginning of the year, we have grand ideas on what we want to accomplish. We start out the year running. For a lot of us, that?s an adjustment because we?re not used to running at such a fast pace, and we can only sprint for so long before we start to lose energy. OnFocus  Hosted by: Branden Bodendorfer New Marshfield Police Department radios went into service this week on January 13. “We’ve slowly been transitioning out the old radios with the new ones,” said Police Chief Rick Gramza. "Based on individual’s work schedules and availability, we’ve been training them on how to use the radios, because they’re significantly different than our prior ones.” The long-awaited portable radios were purchased to alleviate the signal issues the department was experiencing in various parts of the city. Upgrades to the tower system for the radios will occur sometime early to late spring. Radios were tested from poor signal areas prior to purchase. “That’s when we realized we also needed the tower upgrades, because even the best radios weren’t going to fix all of our problems,” explained Gramza. The new radios are 6.5 watts compared to the 5 watts of the former. Already the transmissions have been noticeably clearer, even on the outskirts of the city. If the county ever decides to encrypt all channels or go digital, the radios will be able to accommodate those transitions, he said.
