Patrick covers topics like the sacramental rules around confession and anointing during emergencies, the meaning of incorruptible saints such as Carlo Acutis, and how God's providence fits with human free will and the effects of prayer. Patrick also shares insights on Church history, explains the significance of blessed objects, and discusses how priests should present themselves in public. For anyone seeking clarity on Catholic teaching or thoughtful answers to life’s big questions, Patrick delivers practical guidance and encouragement for your faith journey. Saul (email) - In the case of an emergency, such as war where no Catholic priest is available to hear confession and give a solution to people, would an Anglican, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist or some other Christian pastor, one who believes in the Holy Trinity, be able to give the anointing of the sick, hear confession and give absolution? (00:35) Mary - Is Carlo Acutis body incorruptible? (08:04) Patrick in Mission Viejo, CA - Re: Assassination of Lincoln - Did Lincoln found and protect all of the missions from the southern border in California? (11:52) Tom - You spoke to a woman about free will. How much does God intercede in our lives at any time? (18:56) Warner - The Amish community in Central Wisconsin still store ice during the winter to stalk up for the summer (29:02) Albert - When people have yard sales, and they are giving away their belongings that are blessed, do those blessings go to whoever purchased the item or they stay with the original family? (31:41) Islamic terrorists in Kashmir attacked tourists yesterday, slaughtering 26. (37:19) Ed - Let's say I want to confess something, but I say my confession to a person so he can take it to a priest. Like using an intermediary. Is this allowed? (38:45) Will - Dispensation from a bishop may be given to a mixed couple (even if one is not Catholic). Is there like a document with the wedding certificate that gives that permission? (39:42) Henry - Just became a Catholic this past Easter vigil. I am Mexican American, and in my culture we call our sponsors Madrina/Padrino. Can I call my sponsor “godmother” here in the US? (43:15) Steve - What is the proper attire for a parish priest in general? (46:14)

Shannon Huettl, a stroke coordinator at the ThedaCare Appleton location and a nurse on the stroke floor in Neenah, has advice for farmers to both prevent and respond to symptoms of a stroke. Rural citizens can't take for granted "meals on wheels". Funding levels are low and volunteers tough to find in rural Wisconsin. So says Ronda James, the nutrition program director at the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Central Wisconsin. They serve Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, and Wood counties with the Meals on Wheels program. Just last year, their small team and 350+ volunteers delivered 145,000 meals to more than 1,300 residents. Unfortunately, James says their costs have gone up about 30 percent as the demand for the program also grows. Weather is changing says Stu Muck, ag meteorologist. Pam Jahnke and Stu also discuss how consumers can find out exactly where their milk originated with a simple code on the container.Ashley Huhn from the Steffes Group says they're as busy as they'll ever be in a calendar year, right now! He highlights an equipment auction happening today in the Lake Geneva area. Paid for by the Steffes Group. Over 200 delegates at the WI Farm Bureau Federations 105th annual business meeting tackled more than 30 agenda items according to Jason Mungniani, executive director of government relations for WFBF. Brad Olson from Polk County was re-elected president with Joe Braegger of Independence re-elected vice president. Coffee prices are catching attention this morning after blowing past highs not seen since the Carter Administration. That's the word from John Heinberg, market analyst with Total Farm Marketing in West Bend. Sitting down for a hot meal with loved ones is a luxury that most of us have every day. But for Wisconsin's rural seniors who may be homebound, isolated, and unable to prepare their own food… the story is different. Ronda James is the nutrition program director at the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Central Wisconsin. She says Wisconsin's older population (60+) has skyrocketed in the past decade. Nearly a third of that entire population is rural. James says the Meals on Wheels program would not exist without volunteers. Delivery routes sometimes creep up to 60 miles in total. That's 30 miles from a "city center" such as Merrill, Antigo, or Wisconsin Rapids. Marathon County is the largest geographic county in Wisconsin, so it's hard to reach the farthest corners of the county with volunteers because it takes 80-100 miles in a day, James says. We also hear from volunteer Tony Omernik who says the work is worth it.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Brittany and Tristan Hull, have been formally charged and are set to stand trial after allegedly starving and severely neglecting their 15-year-old stepdaughter. The child, who weighed a mere 58 pounds upon hospital admission, has sparked a community outcry and a serious legal battle against the couple. Brittany Hull entered a not guilty plea last week to charges of chronic child neglect and causing great bodily harm. The allegations surfaced when Tristan Hull called emergency services, reporting his daughter had a severe reaction after consuming a protein shake. According to court documents, the girl was found to be severely malnourished, suffering from dehydration and bone marrow failure, conditions that hospital staff attributed to prolonged starvation and restricted water intake. During her recovery at Marshfield Medical Center, the teenager described a harrowing home life where she was isolated from eating with her siblings and subjected to a restrictive diet, including water intake of only 16 ounces a day that Brittany Hull claimed was based on internet research due to an "undiagnosed" medical condition. Medical professionals, however, found no evidence of such a condition. Further investigation into the couple's home revealed more disturbing details. Security footage showed the girl being forced to endure harsh physical positions for extended periods and sleeping conditions that involved books taped to her mattress, forcing her to sleep uncomfortably without proper bedding. "The evidence presented in this case is profoundly unsettling," stated the prosecutor during Brittany Hull's court appearance. "This was a deliberate act of cruelty that went beyond mere neglect." Both Brittany and Tristan Hull have been held on a $1 million cash bond each since their arrests. With Tristan Hull also facing similar charges, the community and legal system are closely watching what could be a precedent-setting case of child abuse and neglect. The case has also highlighted concerns regarding the oversight of homeschool environments, as the victim was homeschooled, which allegedly allowed her mistreatment to go unnoticed for an extended period. As the legal proceedings continue, the Hulls are scheduled for pretrial conferences in June, where further details of the case will be scrutinized. The girl, now in protective care, has reportedly begun to recover and gain weight, showing improvements after being removed from her stepmother and father's care. This case serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerabilities children face and the critical importance of community and professional vigilance in protecting at-risk youth. After founding HHAUSA in 2019 our first big fundraising goal was to raise enough money to sponsor an entire Honor Flight to Washington DC for our Veterans here in Central Wisconsin. Thousands of arrows, dozens of archery shoots and $70,000 later, that dream became a reality on October 16th of this year. One of the perks of sponsoring a flight was getting to choose two guardians to fly and accompany Veterans on this day to remember. Mari Austin, an employee at HHA Sports, was one of those guardians. Her parents both served in World War II, were married for 68 years, and passed away within three days of one another. Sadly, neither was able to go on their Honor Flight. However, Mari was able to honor them both in a very special ceremony at the World War II Memorial in October. She shares that experience, more about her trip and the life of her parents on this very special episode. On this Veteran's Day weekend, we want to thank all those who have served our country and continue to make it the land of the free, because of the brave. Tonight's guest, Corey, had his Bigfoot sighting about 10 days ago, in Central Wisconsin. It was between 5 and 6 PM and he was driving down Highway C when all of a sudden, he saw a Sasquatch cross the highway up ahead. Corey has done field investigations before, looking for Dogman evidence, so it should come as no surprise that he stopped his truck, where he saw the Sasquatch cross the highway, and got out to look for tracks. When he failed to find any prints on the side of the highway, he decided to walk a short distance into the woods, following the path he saw the Sasquatch take. In this episode, advocate, evaluator, city councilman, and recently new podcast host, David Shorr joins me on Community Possibilities.  We met through our mutual colleague and friend, Kathleen Sullivan. Kathleen has the distinction of being my most popular episode to date. There is a lot of interest in advocacy, and David knows advocacy like few others.   In this episode we talk about:·        How does an issue become a decision?  ·        How do community leaders and community-based organizations move an issue and set it up for a decision(s) that lead to change.·        How the advocacy game is played and what is the "inside game" is, versus the "outside game” and how these are related to change.·        His experience on the inside as an elected, local-level decision maker. What can community members and leaders do to advance issues they care about in their communities.Website: David Shorr -- Policy Advocate & Evaluator - HomeDavid's Podcast: The Battles We Pick Kathleen Sullivan's episode on Community Possibilites .Link to the article by David and Kathleen with great examples of community level change: https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3A16759255-9fa2-3fcc-90de-482e45a1f2d0  David Shorr has built his AdvocacyCraft Consulting practice drawing on decades of shaping debate and decision making in varied policy arenas—from high-level diplomacy and presidential politics to local land use. Anyone that knows me or follows me on social media is aware that I am a huge NASCAR fan. So when an opportunity came up to attend the season opening Daytona 500 in Florida, I jumped at the chance and headed south for a week of racing in The Sunshine State with my good friend Jesse Urban.Jesse and his wife Lindsay reside here in Central Wisconsin and run Be Still Retreats, a pastors retreat founded to prevent clergy burnout. Having introduced Jesse to a friend in the NASCAR world back in 2016, he was the perfect travel companion for this ministry trip. That belief was confirmed early on in our adventure and affirmed countless times as the week progressed.Aaron Scheer and some of his team from Centershot Ministries happened to be in Florida at the same time doing training for the Centershot Blue program designed to bring archery to the Law Enforcement world. Our meeting with their crew was just the beginning of a weekend of divine appointments, open doors and a sign of great things to come for all of us in the year ahead. Gathered in an airplane hanger on the grounds of the hallowed Kirchman Ranch east of Orlando, the foundation was laid for what should be our first out of state archery event in 2024 during Speed Week.Having gained some great friends in the NASCAR garage over the past decade, our next stop would be 1801 W. International Boulevard in Daytona Beach, home of the World Center of Racing, Daytona International Speedway. It didn't take long and we were connecting with crew members, officials, and a handful of drivers from the top racing series in North America. On the biggest weekend of the season, these guys took the time out of their day to have meaningful conversations about life, hunting and most importantly how we could work together to help our Veterans and First Responders. As much as I love professional stock car racing, I walked away from my week in Daytona with an even greater appreciation for the heart of the people that make up the NASCAR community. It is a tight knit family whose purpose is much bigger than running cars around a track 10 months out of the year. Most of these men are passionate about serving others and are using their careers in racing as a means to spread that message. We also had the opportunity to meet three of the pastors for Motor Racing Outreach (MRO) and can't help but feel the Lord bringing us together again soon.Such is the path that I have personally taken as a business owner, founder of a nonprofit and a born again Christian. I love racing, love archery and love our Military and First Responders. God sees that and has blessed me to do what I enjoy, impacting people along the way through connections in those three communities. When we live our lives with open hands and for agendas pointed towards others and not ourselves, He will orchestrate things that only He can and we get to be a part of that work. That happened every day in Daytona and I am excited to continue these partnerships into the future and change lives. Fast cars, bows and arrows, all for the red, white and blue. Boogity boogity boogity, let's go racin' boys! You can connect with Be Still Retreats on Facebook and Instagram and visit their website at www.https://bestillretreats.orgFor more information about HHAUSA and how you can support our mission, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, shirts, challenge coins and tumblers, visit www.hhasports.com
