Katie Eastburn and two of her daughters were brutally murdered while her husband was 500 miles away at an Air Force captain training school.     In Part 1, Tracy talks about the origins of Earle Nelson, his traumatic upbringing, both parents dying, his multiple traumatic brain injuries, and bouts of syphilis (which offered possible mercury and arsenic poisonings as treatment), his insatiable sexual appetite, and his overt religious fervor. Nelson had serval aliases and traveled all across the US to strangle women to death and sexually assault them post-mortem. He tries his best to throw the FBI off his trail, but he's not very cunning and he isn't successful. This story is a total wild-goose chase that involves other people and uncovers more murders or possible murders.     April talks about Peter Thomas Anthony Manuel AKA The Beast of Birkenshaw who was a serial killer active from 1956-1958 in Scotland. He terrorized the entire area and people were terrified to go out by themselves. He was the most prolific serial killer in Scotland as he was charged with 7 murders, but allegedly confessed to 18 in total. His crimes and character have been used as inspiration for television and film. Also discussed; diminished responsibility and insanity pleas, frontal lobe epilepsy, and serial killers representing themselves in court.  The cocktail for this episode is called the Butterscotch Beast. He tortured her in brutal ways through the night until the next morning in the living room of the apartment and eventually his torture ended by strangling her to death with his bare hands.     Join us for Part 2 of the murder of 8 year old Alma Kellner; who's dismembered and charred remains were discovered in the flooded sub-cellar of St. John's Church basement in Louisville, Kentucky in 1910. Part 2 takes us on the chase of Joseph Wendling, the murderer, through Texas and California. Many hands were involved in his eventual capture in San Francisco. He was returned to Kentucky and sentenced to life in the Kentucky State Prison- although he didn't actually stay for the remainder of his life. Today's drink is called the Blackberry Glazed Donut- as the delicious, juicy blackberry is Kentucky's state fruit!
