It's funny how ideas can come into your head. For Liz, the idea of a community for cake makers came to her while feeding her twins when they were 9 months old at 2 am.  That was 13 years ago.  Liz and her team run the Australian Cake Decorating Network.  A diverse community of members who go on cake crawls, cake camps, have annual award ceremonies, and generally support each other through thick and thin.  It's amazing.  Liz was a baker herself but also a trained occupational therapist.  She's had to juggle a lot.  But she's found a way through it all and she sits with us from her office to walk us through all the ups and down. She is an inspiration.  Enjoy.Website - www.acdn.me---This podcast is produced in London and Madrid by OLBAA. As a female growing up in India, Hena Mahajan never followed the normal path.  A creative at heart who found herself entering the world of jewellery design at a fairly young age, she ran her own business creating and selling her own designs.   Funky batter however was formed as a continuation of her ability to want to create even if it wasn't in the industry she originally she started working in.  Funky batter is the ability for anyone to download and follow her core recipes to create whatever you want with your cakes.  Starting with 16 core flavours, but giving you the tools to go off and create your own, Hena has just built the foundation for so many bakers to start with their own recipes and build on them.  It's an inspiring story and motivating to listen to as it just shows that just when you think an industry like cake already has it all, you can still find ways to help and find new ways to teach people the essentials.  I really hope you like it.Learn more about Hena:Website - https://funkybatter.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/funkybatter/---This podcast is produced in London and Madrid by OLBAA. Melbourne, Australia.  When I lived there I didn't know it for its cakes, I knew it for its coffee.  But things have changed a lot!  One of the largest content creators around lives here and joins us for this episode - I'm referring to Tigga Mac and her bestie Katie.  They've gone from slaving away in their tiny kitchen just keeping on top of cake orders to be internationally recognised for their antics on social media.  I learned so much talking to them about mastering social media - and particularly TikTok where they have - are you ready for this? - over 1.6million followers.  This has transformed their baking journey from taking cake orders to content creation and brand deals, but still, making lots of cake.  There are so many interesting themes and ideas that they come with up for content but at the heart of it is still they are self-taught, highly-talented bakers.  Years of grinding away to build up their business has given them the confidence to go create and have so much fun doing it - as a team  Get your notebook out for this one because there are so many useful lessons shared so kindly by these two lovely people.  We're really excited to share this with episode with you! Toowomba Australia, which is in Queensland in case you were curious - is not a place we ever thought we'd end up but in this little place is home to a brand that's known world wide - Cas Cakery.  Cassie, or “Cas” speaks with us today about her journey and what is so interesting here is that in such a short space of time she has rocketed her business from nothing to something incredible in just 5 short years.  What I love about Cassie is she reminds us about being honest about ourselves, reminding ourselves to make it fun, and most importantly, just take care of yourself.  The stress of running a baking business can take its toll on all of us.  Cassie has been very good about making sure she looks after herself mentally, physically, and emotionally.  Doing this has only allowed herself to blossom further in her business and push herself forward even more.  Of course, she didn't always do it this way.  She's hit that burn out stage multiple times, with frustration running high.  But through all that she's learned to watch for it before it happens so she can deal with it better.  I think this is a skill that we don't all have.  So, this is why this episode makes for a great listen.  Seeing that signs that suggest you need to adjust what you're doing.  Do you struggle with burn out, resentment, frustration?  Keep listening, there might be something in this that will help you take it all in your stride and manage it.  I really hope you enjoy this one.  Let's rock on with Cassie's baking journey.  More about Cas:Website - www.cascakery.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/cas_cakery/---This podcast is produced in London and Madrid by OLBAA. Hey everyone, this week it's back to northern England to chat with Tracy of Cotton and Crumbs.  Just 2 years into running her business she realised that not every aspect of running a cake business is exciting.  For most of us, it's the decorating or designing bit - the art - that we all really enjoy.  So, she employed her husband to do all the boring bits.  Baking the cakes, making the buttercream or ganache, cleaning!  This then allowed Tracy to focus on what she did best and what she enjoys the most.  Designing cakes, and especially making flowers.  Tracy's ability to create flowers for her cakes are some of the best we've seen.  Her style is all about elegance with contemporary wedding cake design.  You notice I say the word “design” a lot because you guys are ARTISTS and what you design on a cake is nothing short of incredible!  It's good to remind yourself of that because you don't just make cakes, you create art that's edible!  Tracy's been in this game for a while now and has a lot of sound advice to share especially for wedding cake listeners.  So, let's jump right in…. This week we're going international!  We are off to LA to sit down with Hellen, the former Food Network contestant and owner of Dport Sweets - an online bakery.  But this story far from straight forward.  She's not from LA and moved to the US at a young age.  She had to learn English, and she had to find her feet as a teenager in a new country.  So when her dad decided to buy her that first mixer, it all just seemed to make sense from there. Hellen offers all kinds of desserts at Dport Sweets because she refuses to believe she can't perfect something. However, she goes a lot further to get into the details of the full customer experience and why this is so important to her, and ultimately makes her stand out in a crowded California market.  With millions of views on her social media, we can tell you she doesn't need a celebrity to help promote her work even if she lives amongst them.  So let's get stuck in with Hellen's baking journey….we hope you like it.Follow Hellen's journey here:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/dportsweets/Website - https://www.dportsweets.com---This podcast is produced in London and Madrid by OLBAA.
