According to a study done in the Wall Street Journal, one in five women ages 40-59 and nearly one in four women ages 60 and over are or have been using antidepressants. This makes sense - most women put their children, spouses, pets, neighbours, colleagues, etc. ahead of themselves. Most women do not choose themselves. Most women are so busy being busy that they are distracted, stressed and numbed out. And most women are incredibly disconnected from their sexual energy.  And so when Jane Taylor reached out to Ashley via DM on Instagram telling her that she had found her soul-aligned love at 64, was experiencing the most incredible love (and sex) and deeply healing from shame, she knew her story was important to share. It's never too late to choose yourself.  Love in Harmonia is On Early Bird Pricing!Until December 7th, save over $100 in celebration of the release of Ashley + Juuso's first course, launching on December 8th. Topics Discussed: what happens when women abandon themselves and their sexuality  why it's important to speak your truth  how Jane met her soul-aligned partner at 64 and what it has felt like for her intimacy after trauma and how sex can heal  how Jane's community has responded to her relationship  can she still get wet at 64?  SHOW NOTES Love In Harmonia Course on Early Bird until December 7, 2023

After being on the road for some conferences and workshops related to my business, Wayza Health, I'm glad to be back to share all the amazing learning I did with fellow coaches! I do sometimes encounter vitriol when I talk about health at every size, though it's usually online. So it caught me off-guard to have such an encounter in person. It's that interaction, as well as the conversation with other women that followed, that prompted me to engage on this topic today: the weight-centric health paradigm we all live in. Our society equates weight with health and I want to address why this persistent attitude prevails and why it's a fallacy. The World Health Organization regularly publishes information that shows increasing obesity rates globally, and those graphs are used to make weight a public health and social issue. Of course, those graphs are also based on BMI which we all know is a useless tool that I've addressed many times on this podcast. We live in an obesogenic environment and studies that are often quoted are incomplete or don't factor in other key factors. We also seem to have this unshakeable belief that weight loss is as simple as calories in, calories out or energy intake and energy expenditure. Nothing is that simple, certainly not weight. So what I want to do in this episode is address all these beliefs and counter them with facts and studies that prove, sometimes, the exact opposite of the “weight is the issue” outcome that most people cling to. Join me as I unpack the weight-centric paradigm and examine some truths about bodies and health.About Dr. Michelle TubmanDr. Michelle Tubman is a physician and health coach. She helps women ditch dieting and thrive at any size. For the longest time she believed that weight loss was the answer to all her problems. But decades of yo-yo dieting and restriction left her miserable, unhealthy, and exhausted. Now she teaches women how harmful dieting can be and shows them the way to true health and wellness. As a physician specializing in both emergency and obesity medicine, with additional training in nutrition, eating psychology, and coaching, Michelle can tell you with certainty that dieting is dangerous. Studies associate compromised health more with yo-yo dieting than higher body weight. Yet, everywhere you turn, shrinking your body is hailed as the solution. Women don't need to change. Attitudes do. So let's stop self-shaming, speak out against sizeism, and fiercely champion unconditional self-celebration!—Resources mentioned in this episode:“What's Wrong With the ‘War on Obesity?' In this week's episode of Real Talk, I have the pleasure and privilege of speaking with wholistic coach (and mentor and my former colleague) Jane Taylor. It could just be life's greatest challenge - how to create self acceptance in every experience and moment in life.  Self acceptance first crossed my radar circa 2017/2018 and what a journey or adventure as Jane like's to put it.  As challenging as building self acceptance has been, it's been equally rewarding to uncover and unpack the parts of myself which bring up feelings of discomfort.  You see, it's challenging to have positively powerful relationships with others if you are in a constant state of rejecting yourself - something I learned the hard way and as heavy as 10kg of excess body fat can feel, truly, nothing weighs more than your own self criticism and judgement. Too often, I encounter amazing people who want to lose weight and body fat in hopes that this reduction will lend itself to an increase  in happiness and acceptance from others.  It's as though they expect the day they step on the scales and see their magical number that people will pop bottles of champagne, streamers will fall from the sky and it will be declared a national holiday.  Connecting with your reasons WHY you have set the goals that you have set is especially important in ensuring you're setting healthy goals i.e. goals that will move you in a positive direction.  Goals are hardly helpful if they add to your stress levels and form a role in a self sabotaging cycle which I see a lot of in this industry. If the goal is to be happy, work on self acceptance.  If you feel that losing weight will leave you feeling happier, you've largely missed the journey in creating happiness.  What's the point in being 10kg heavier if you're 100 times more stressed?  To me, that is hardly progress in any avenue. Likes most areas of life, self acceptance can be improved when you make a consistent and concerted effort to.  Jane shares the ways in which we can build self acceptance and what you may encounter in doing so - spoiler alert, it's not always a comfortable ride but overall, an adventure worth having. Many thanks to Jane for her personal, powerful shares.  Please be sure to connect with her directly using the links below: Website: https://janetaylor.net Habits for Wellbeing Journals: https://www.habitsforwellbeing.com/products/

Our guest on Episode 45 of the Rider Magazine Insider Podcast is C. Jane Taylor. We talked to Jane back in April, on Episode 32. Her book, Spirit Traffic: A Mother's Journey of Self-Discovery and Letting Go, had just been released and we published an excerpt in the April 2022 issue of Rider. During our previous interview Jane was down in Costa Rica on a yoga retreat with her husband, John. In May, Jane and John embarked on a motorcycle tour to promote Spirit Traffic. They packed gear on their BMW F 650 GS' and hit the road for 97 days. They rode 15,000 miles and Jane gave more than 50 readings in bookstores, bars, coffee shops, motorcycle events, and people's homes. We talk with Jane about her and John's cross-country tour to promote her book about a cross-country tour they did with their son, Emmett, in 2015. Spirit Traffic is a thoroughly enjoyable book that's honest, funny, poignant, and original – we highly recommend it.

It's one Milly Philly, that's right one of Philly's latest TikToks has reached one million views. The clip is from an earlier podcast with Dr John Gray and it got over three thousand comments, and  a fair few of them were from women who weren't too pleased with what Dr John Gray had to say around women, orgasms, and vibrators. That's why this week Philly is joined on The Wellness Way by Suzanne Jane Taylor, Trauma release, Emotional Detox practitioner, Soma Breath, and Intimacy Coach.    KEY TAKEAWAYS Philly met Suzanne after the man they were both in love with passed away, they decided to meet up and talk about him. Over a drink Philly discovered that Suzanne worked in trauma relief relating to sex and orgasms.  People who grow up and live in survival use the masculine as armor against trauma. This armor ends up being a form of repressing your energy.  As women we need a man to be masculine and lead, this allows us to feel safe and surrender into our feminine mode. When polarity works, it works beautifully. Even in same sex couples you get one more domenant partner, it's the yin and yang of the universe.  No one wants to be with someone controlling and who tells you what to do. There is a difference between being subservient to a man and surrendering into femininity. It's about allowing a man to lead.  Inverted polarity is when a man is in his feminie energy and the woman is in her masculine energy.  There are five G spots on women other than the clitoris. One is close to the anus, one is on the front wall inside, one above and one below the cervix, and the fifth one only appears after orgasm.    BEST MOMENTS ‘The pelvis is the only other part of our body other than the head that acts as a basin' ‘Any kind of pressure and breath work can potentially release trauma'  ‘Overstimulation of the clitoris can lead to reduced sensitivity, it's about a balance' ‘When you release trauma it feels like a ball of energy traveling through you'   EPISODE RESOURCES Somasutra.co.uk Insta @sukundalini Fb free group Somasutra Fb business page somasutra school of healing and modern tantra     https://www.tiktok.com/@phillyjlay1 https://www.instagram.com/phillyjlay/ https://www.phillyjlay.com/   ABOUT THE GUEST  Suzanne is a Trauma release, Emotional Detox practitioner, Soma Breath, and Intimacy Coach She is the founder of Soma sutra school of healing and awakening and has expanded her knowledge and understanding to include Intimacy and connection coaching. Suzanne has over 27 years of experience is various forms of bodywork including Tantric and Tao bodywork For as long as I can remember I was aware of something about my energy that separated me from the people around me and always knew that I had healing hands. Throughout my career as a bodywork practitioner, clients would always comment about how much better they felt from my touch. Growing up I used to feel other people's physical pain and emotions. My mother told me it was sympathy pain, and I grew up thinking it was normal and was something that every human experienced. It wasn't until in my 20's when I became a full-time therapist that I realized that I wasn't something that every person experienced. As the years went on this energy and other ESP experiences grew and expanded and I began what would be years of search and study in different healing modalities to find the right fit for my energy. Finally, after a period of prolonged meditation for several years of looking inward for answers I was contacted by a healer from Greece who later became my first Tantric healing mentor and was able to teach me many aspects of the Kundalini energy that I had been working with. After a year of mentorship, I wanted to deepen my knowledge and skill, which is when I found a training school in London that met all the depths of knowledge and training that I was looking for. Finally, I felt like I had come home and somewhere that understood the depths of what I felt from others and this is where my career as a healer and intimacy coach really began. I have been lucky enough to have worked with several brilliant mentors who understand my energy. The hands-on treatments that I offer go deep, and into the very core of a person's trauma or blockages. Clients come to see me for a variety of reasons, ranging from trauma, grief, fear, spiritual awakening, exploring sensuality, expansion of boundaries to name but a few. I treat both male and female clients and the aim is to enable that person to overcome whatever may be stopping them living in a joyful and happy way and being able live life to the full Deep held emotions trapped in the body are responsible for many blockages that can lead to health and emotional issues further down the line. This is where this multi-discipline ancient technique can really help release and heal what may even be from as early as birth or from the womb. As unlimited beings we all want to live a beautiful and joyful existence where we can grow and realise our potential to the fullest, where we can love unconditionally with loving boundaries and self-care. My workshops are geared towards helping couples reconnect and find a deeper, more loving bond, as well as helping both men and women whether in a relationship or single overcome body shame, taboos and raise awareness, whilst finding a deeper connection to themselves.   ABOUT THE HOST Philly J Lay is the author of The Natural Wellness Journal, EFT practitioner, and  is also a long-standing advocate for our health and that of our planet. Is there an 'unlived' adventure story lurking somewhere inside of you? Lets face it, we all love a good adventure story. yet for most of us the fix generally comes through reading fiction or biographies, watching movies, or listening to podcasts and celebrating the hero's journey in somebody else. But what if it were your turn? What would you choose, and given the opportunity, would you actually say yes?   Today, not only do we get to hear Jane Taylor's story, we also get the opportunity to be part of her adventure. (details below).   When Jane Taylor's son Emmit graduated, her husband John had the idea to celebrate with a road trip. The plan was to buy three motorcycles and ride across country from Vermont to California and back. That is a 10,000 mile round trip, and for a Mom who hadn't been on a motorbike for 40 years, that's no small challenge! Jane said Yes to the idea, even though she was terrified!   “I jumped in, because I tend to lead, but I was terrified.” Motorcycles were in her family's blood when Jane was a child.  In 6th-grade, her mother owned a motorcycle business, so her early years were around bikes and bikers. But her family sold the business and moved on, and riding a motorbike was now just a distant memory. In her teen years, writing was her thing; she went to college earned her degree in literature and music history and always knew writing would be part of her life, but not sure how.  On leaving college Jane skirted around, working in restaurants, cooking for a Baroque orchestra running a welding shop,  and being an event organizer. But it was always writing that held her interest, so she eventually became a freelance 'pen for hire' and a professional CV writer. But, at 50 years, old approaching mid-life, it was this family adventure that changed everything. The podcast is part of a celebration of that journey and the launch of her book “Spirit Traffic – A  Mother's Journey of Letting Go”  inspired by her travels and the gifts it gave her.  The book is out on April 19th 2022, and there is a book tour beginning in May. The fun part is that Jane and her husband John are reprising the adventure by travelling across the US, from New England to California, for readings at independent books shops and in people's homes. So you can be part of the tour by hosting an event. At the age of 16, she went to Bard College at Simon's Rock where she earned a BA in Literature and Music History.  She's been a cook for a baroque orchestra, a sculptor's assistant, a resume writer, and a yoga teacher. She started (and stopped) her own welding shop. She has repaired farm equipment under the blazing sun on the Fourth of July and decorated cakes resembling the Palace of Versailles on Bastille Day. Writing has always been her foundation.  After a forty-year hiatus, she started motorcycling again when her son graduated from college. Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots was a plastic boxing match game marketed to kids in the early 70s. From opposite corners of a 14 x 14 plastic tabletop boxing ring surrounded by plastic rope—no chance to “rope a dope” here—two seven-inch-tall plastic robots with outsized fists in molded plastic gloves threw punches at one another when you pressed the buttons on the control lever on your side of the ring. You could adjust the angle and frequency of attack by moving the lever back and forth and pressing the buttons more rapidly with your thumbs. I think my sister Ann and I had one. Or this may be a false memory implanted by years of television commercials on that little black and white set. I'm not sure. I seem to remember pressing the buttons and moving the lever. It must be a real memory as I was never a big fan of those kinds of games. I did not like pinball or later, Pac Man. I'm not a fan of the X-Box. Though I really loved those electric air hockey games whose puck glided on jets of cool air pouring up through tiny holes in the surface of the imitation “rink.” The puck floated there as if magically suspended in time and space between my net and that of my opponent. The sound of the paddle meeting the puck swaks in my mind's ear as I type this now. These games of childhood come back to me as I contemplate today's writing prompt: The ideal versus the reality... Support the show (http://www.venmo.com/Jane-Taylor-70)

The first semester is often more focused on setting a great foundation for ‘everything else.' In this episode, we look beyond the academics at what ‘everything else' means. We explore the areas of self-advocacy, social life on campus, expectation management, changing parental roles, accommodations, and the dreaded and often unanticipated list of mandatory requirements colleges send out during the all-too-short window of preparation after acceptance and before the first day of class.

Emma-Jane brings awareness to a very important subject:  Child Sex Abuse AwarenessAlthough a touchy subject, Emma-Jane, having been a victim of child sex abuse, at 44 she realized it was something she needed to share and now is actively working to bring more awareness.Emma-Jane said in the seventies, it was silenced.  She shares that it took years to heal.  It is not something that is not healed with "just a pill".   Along with sharing her story, and writing her second book, she is launching a charity for Child Sex Abuse called 90/10, to help children to live their lives as children. In Emma-Jane's research, she is also interviewing child sex offenders to learn more.  She is also doing 12 challenges over the next 12 months.  She shares with us what those are.She said, "I decided to go all-in" to make a difference. We discussed that victims can often "feel alone", and there can be a feeling of shame that goes along with the experience, which then keeps them from reaching out for help. What a wonderful initiative.  As Emma-Jane explains, it's not a subject we want to hear about.  From the two year old that was trafficked out by her mother, to why her mother was a junky, what upbringing causes this?  And the upbringing of the offender?   She is really reaching deep into finding out more about learned behavior and how can we educate, help and direct them to stop this.  Educating early about relationships, and helping them to open up in having "the difficult conversations".This is a very compelling Podcast.   Thank you Emma-Jane.You can find out more about Emma-Jane, and reach out to her at www.emmajanetaylor.lifeMore about Emma-Jane:Emma-Jane is an activist focused on reducing child sex abuse.  Emma-Jane began with sharing about her childhood, her time with her family, the happy moments, followed by being sexually abused and the ultimate alienationation of her father.  These experiences were devastating for Emma-Jane.  Over time she became rebellious, and "monster", as she says, who hated life, hated people and hated making decision (on a personal level). Those around Emma-Jane eventually felt that she would either be dead or in jail by the age of 20.Emma-Jane had developed bulimia in her teens.  During this time she also had a family friend sexually abuse her on several occasions.  She went into therapy at the age of 23 and states it took almost 30 years to bring her to the point of loving herself. She remembers telling her therapist later in life about her bulimia and she was mortified to do this, however she knew that it was a part of her life, and she wanted to make sure that the triggers that could be overwhelming could be controlled.  The therapist gave Emma-Jane simple tools to settle her mind, and with the support has come through it. We spoke to the biggest challenges - of not being able to sleep at night,  to her finding a way back to loving with a trust, and what forgiveness means to Emma-Jane.Emma-Jane is a Child Abuse activist and her second book is out this year, along with a global project.Emma-Jane published book is called Don't Hold Back, based on her story;  where she was, where she ended up and where she is going, and helps others to help get through difficult times.  You can reach Emma at https://www.emmajanelife.com where all the links to her articles, videos and social media links are posted.  You can ask her any questions, and she will respond. #bulimia #bulimiarecovery #bulimiaover40 #midlifebulimia #bulimiaover50 #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #bullimiaddict #iamthatgal #bulimiacoach #bingepurge #bingeingandpurging #throwup #deceit #hide #lie #food #overeating #bleepbulimia #podcast #itunes #apple #buzzsprout #amazonmusic #alexa #emmajanetaylor #dontholdback #keynotespeaker #author #childabuseFor further support you can visit my group on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bullimiaddict Find me on Instagram @bullimiaddict and @bleepbulimia Blog https://www.bullimiaddict.com To sign up as a guest on my podcast visit https://www.bleepbulimia.com You can also visit us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/groups/bleepbulimia New Release Kindle or Signed Copy! “The garden's origins go back to about 1987 or 88, and the founding curator, Jane Taylor, who also worked for the Michigan 4-H Foundation, had the idea that she wanted to create a a garden for children,” Lownds explains. “And what she meant by that was an idea that no one else had really had up until that time. She wanted a place like a botanical garden, but one that was for kids so that when you went in it, you didn't just walk in and follow the pathways and all you could do is look at plants because, God forbid, that you ever touch anything or step on the grass even or that sort of thing. She was very tired of when parents with young children ask the children, ‘Well, where do you want to go?' They would always say, ‘Well, we want to go to the zoo.' Never did they say we want to go to the garden.“There have been many copies of the 4-H Children's Gardens since then, but we are the first true children's garden. It's located on MSU's campus and is a wonderful place to visit.” Lownds says the pizza garden is one of his favorite spots in the garden. “A pizza garden is a garden where a kid or an adult is going to be able to see all of the plants that make your pizza. But in order to make it so that it's immediately recognizable by children, the pizza garden is shaped like a pizza; it's round. The crust on it is concrete, but it is rounded concrete. It has imprints in the concrete of tomatoes, and onions, and basil leaves. It also even has a piece cut out of it so that you can step in and be a part of the pizza.”Lownds says about 100,000 visitors come through the gardens each year. He describes the development of the garden's Monet Bridge. And he says there's a pharmacy garden that “contains plants that are used to make pharmaceuticals. If you go back in history, almost all of our pharmaceuticals started as plants, in plants, or extractions from plants. "The science discovery garden is our attempt to make available hands-on, right in front of you some of the research that's going on in the buildings that you can see when you're standing in the garden, like in the Plant and Soil Science Building and the Plant Biology Building. So we have examples of some of those experiments. Many of them are NSF funded experiments. And so we're providing some of the broader impact or the community outreach component of those gardens.“Part of our mission is to provide a place of enrichment and delight for children of all ages.”The sheep statue in the milk, meat, and wool garden is special to Lownds.“Kids can sit on it because everything in the garden is designed to be interactive. What I tell my college students is, and it's a little bit tongue in cheek but not that much, and I'm usually sitting on the sheep while I'm talking to them,  I tell them that what I want them to do is to come out there before they graduate and get their picture taken on the sheep. I'm trying to make that a graduation requirement. I just think everyone should get out there.“My favorite plant in the garden is a plant called the sensitive plant. And when you touch the leaves of it, it closes up. It has action and activity and it's the number one favorite kid plant in the garden, and it's my favorite plant too.”MSU Today airs every Sunday morning at 9:00 on 105.1 FM, AM 870, and your smart speaker and connected devices. Discovering The Lost City of Petra

The story of the Lost City of Petra begins with the story of the Nabataeans, nomadic traders who eventually settled in Edomite territory around 2 B.C. The Nabataeans had traveled everywhere and picked up architectural ideas from the Persians, Greeks, and Romans, and adapted these ideas into something that was uniquely their own. We don't have a lot of information about the Nabataeans because no self-written history has been found. My guest on today's podcast, Jane Taylor, describes what we do know about the Nabataeans and their art style, culture, language, the extent of their kingdom, and why they were able to withstand the Romans. Petra is not the only Nabataean site - You may want to see Mada'in Saleh Mada'in Saleh, also known as Hegra, in Saudi Arabia, is not as famous as Petra but is still a significant Nabataean site. Mada'in Saleh has a wealth of beautiful tombs carved into the sandstone mountains of the region. On this episode, Jane Taylor tells us about the history of The Lost City of Petra and also describes Mada'in Saleh and the excavations that are being done there, as well as describing some of the challenges for a woman traveling in Saudi Arabia. Petra was much the same under Roman rule as it was in the reign of the Nabataeans When the Romans took over the Nabataeans, life actually stayed much the same for the residents of Petra. On this episode, Jane Taylor explains the relationship between the Romans and the people of Petra, and how Petra flourished through the 6th Century. She then describes the gradual decline of Petra, mostly due to trade considerations. The Lost City of Petra has a fascinating history. You can learn about it on today's episode of The History Fangirl. How was Petra lost and rediscovered? During the early Crusader period, Petra was clearly regarded as an important center. But after the Crusaders, there is a gap in our knowledge, with no references to Petra from the 14th Century until Swiss explorer John Lewis Burckhardt rediscovered it in 1812. The story of Petra's rediscovery and the international reaction to it is the subject of my interview with author Jane Taylor on this podcast episode. Listen in to hear about the rediscovery of Petra, stories of some of the early visitors to the site, and what it is like to travel there today. What is it like to travel to Petra today? Petra is Jane Taylor's favorite place in the world. You have probably heard of the famous sandstone carved structure, The Treasury. But The Treasury is simply the foretaste of Petra itself. On this episode, listen to Jane describe what it is like to visit Petra, from the mind-blowing scale of the site to the stupendous view from the monastery, to how to negotiate the price of a camel ride. On my visit, I found the aggressive haggling with vendors to be quite a culture shock. Prepare yourself for an amazing trip by listening to Jane's descriptions of her favorite places and why Petra is her favorite place in the world.
