The Conversion of Wesley Campbell Ep 31

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 23, 2021 48:07

In Ep. 30, Rick Pino interviews Wesley Campbell, who tells his conversion of being an ‘all in' Canadian freestyle skier and party guy to an unabashed preacher of the gospel. Growing up in the 60's and 70's in British Columbia's tourist hotspot, Wesley Campbell had a great life. Hot sands beaches in the summer and some of the best powder skiing in Canada in the winter. Coming from a long line of lay preachers in the Plymouth Brethren movement, Wesley was made to go church almost every week – and he hated it! His earliest recollections include having to sit through three boring church meetings each Sunday. The only respite from Sunday church was in the summers when he worked at his family fruit markets 7 days a week for 10 to 15 hours a day.  When not working Wesley would much rather play sports, hang out with girls, and party, party, party! However, during his last year of high school, Wesley's mother was diagnosed with malignant bone cancer. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments could not stop the relentless advance of this disease. Every week looked worse than the last. Feeling awkward and not knowing how to deal with her impending death, Wesley would stay out night after night. He threw himself into the skiing and partying.  As his mother grew worse, Wesley tried to put her declining health out of his mind.  Not wanting to miss the biggest North American Freestyle skiing competition of the year, Wesley decided to go to a ski hill three hours away. The skies were blue, the snow fantastic, and the parties wild. In the middle of a crowded bar, Wesley phoned home to find out how his mother was doing. The response was a shock – his mother had just died a few hours ago. It March 11th - two days before his 18th birthday. After that Wesley stopped caring about everything. Whatever religious restraint he had held in the past was now gone. He went deeper into sports and partying. He got so bad that as he says, “I sinned myself into salvation.” Wrestling with sin and conviction, Wesley was becoming disgusted with who he had become. Listen to the night of struggle when Wesley finally gave his life unreservedly to follow God . . . and go from partier to preacher. Hear the conversion of Wesley Campbell as interviewed by worship leader Rick Pino.

From a refugee boat in Vietnam to the runways of New York and the Oscars in L.A., Nancy Vuu's rags to riches story will inspire and move you to believe for greatness in your own life. Many of us see the stories of refugees breaking through walls, risking their lives crossing oceans in small boats, or walking hundreds of miles seeking a better life.  But what happens to them when they reach the land of their dreams?  Are they all criminals? Or are some just families looking for a better life? Nancy's family escaped Vietnam when the Communists were invading the country.  After a long and perilous journey, they finally ended up in the United States, where they were taken in by a Christian family.  Through hard work and determination, Nancy broke through from poverty to a middle-class lifestyle.  At 30 years old, with 4 children, Nancy heard the voice of God in a vision for the first time? What did He say? He said: “Every little girl dreams of being a princess,” as He showed her poor little girls from many continents. “I want you to be a designer and design for them, so that every little girl of every race will be a princess.” So, with no experience, no money, and no connections in the fashion world, Nancy began to draw the dress she saw in the vision.   The rest is history.  You will not want to miss this exciting story of the power of the prophetic to take you to places beyond your wildest imagination!!

Georgian Banov is an ‘Apostle of Joy.' Everywhere he and his wife, Winnie, go they bring the supernatural joy of the Lord. In this episode of “What the Spirit is Saying to the Church” Georgian stresses the need to get back to the practice of the early church. It was not big buildings, nor big meetings that turned the world upside down.  Rather, it was small groups who welcomed the outcast and the disenfranchised. As a communist atheist refugee, Georgian came to America with no vision. He was fleeing oppression and had no idea what to do next. Yet, it was the ‘Jesus People' of the 1970's living in community, feeding the hungry, and loving the unlovely that reached Georgian's heart. Good news looked like something. In an age of a world-wide pandemic, government over-reach, and the tension of gathering, Georgian says we must get back to the simplicity of the apostolic gospel where all believers welcome people into their homes and break bread together (Acts 2:42; Acts 5:42). Yes, there will be stadium gatherings. However, the same time we must gather together wherever we are and share food and fellowship. We must win the hearts of people who have lost their way. Jesus said, “I have come to seek and to save the lost”, How will He do that today? He will do it through you and through me, through our relationships. Listen to what this ‘Apostle of Joy' says the Spirit is Saying to the Church as he exhorts the us to get back to apostolic Christianity.

Georgian Banov grew up in Eastern Europe during the communist regime, and was taught that there was no God! So he never thought about God and his great love was music. From childhood onwards, Georgian was trained in classical violin. But when ‘rock and roll' hit Western Europe in the mid 60's, Georgian discovered a whole new genre of music.  He discovered the Beatles by secretly listening to illegal broadcasts on his grandfather's short-wave radio. Captivated by these strange and wonderful new sounds, he shared this new music with three of his friends.  In a short time, they learned all of the Beatles songs and formed the first official rock band of Bulgaria. In 1965, they made their debut on national television and became an overnight sensation. Rock music became the catalyst to gather thousands of youth and start a movement of frustration and rebellion. Soon the communist authorities recognized their mistake and outlawed their concerts. Knowing he could go to jail as a dissident, Georgian decided to escape to the Western world. Listen to Georgian Banov's incredible journey as he risked his life to escape from Bulgaria. Once across the Iron Curtain, America welcomed him in as a refugee and granted him asylum. En route to California, Georgian encountered the "Jesus People" witnessing on the streets of Los Angeles. Through their love and their free food, these Jesus People won Georgian's trust. Eventually, without even believing that there was a God, Georgian challenged God, “If you are real show yourself to me!” Immediately, Georgian was enveloped in a blanket of God … which he describes as fire. Georgian was totally born again in an instant. Georgian continued to have encounters with God for weeks thereafter. God showed Georgian his role in the end time harvest, where as an old man, he would be part of seeing stadiums filled with God seekers.   Listen to the Conversion of Georgian Banov. You will be thrilled as you hear how God can reach a disillusioned, atheistic rock star, and turn him into an ‘Apostle of Joy'.

The Conversion of Sonny Lara is a modern-day miracle. Raised in the dangerous east side of San Jose, Sonny came from a long line of criminals. His grandfather was a professional hit man for gangs and even tried to kill his own children. Sonny's grandfather met his death by gang-style execution. As he was growing up, Sonny's mother would chide him saying, “you're going to turn out just like your grandfather!” With this violent and godless family background, it was no wonder that Sonny began taking and selling drugs while still in elementary school. He was the one every family said to keep away from. Teachers even tried to make Sonny skip grade five because they saw him as being dangerous to the other children. By age 12 Sonny became the youngest person to be in perpetual probation . . . in and out of juvenile detention centers. At the young age of 12, Sonny started a gang, which eventually led him to be involved in sorts of crime: armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, shoot outs, police car chases, and on and on! By the time he was 27 years old, Sonny was sentenced to prison and would go on to spend years in the most notorious prisons in California. Thankfully, around this time Sonny's wife, Linda, became a Christian through the persistent witnessing of her sister. Prior to that, Sonny's sister had also received Christ and warned Sonny that she put him on God's spiritual hit list, and “He don't miss.” Linda began urging Sonny to follow Christ and give God the leadership of his life. Initially, Sonny would have nothing to do with it – but Linda kept on praying. Then one day, Sonny heard the audible voice of God in his prison cell saying, “you can come and serve Me, or make this place your home!” Sonny responded to this voice and encountered God through a radical conversion. As you listen to this amazing Conversions story, you will have hope for even the most difficult people. No one is too far from the grace of God! Bios of Dr. Sonny and Linda Lara Drs. Paul Cain was the last remaining prophetic evangelist from the great healing revivals of the 1940's and 1950's. In this episode, you will hear The Conversion – and Life – of Paul Cain, as re-told by Paul's longest-serving ministry assistant, Reed Grafke. Paul's life was marked from the womb onward by the miraculous healing power of God. His mother, Anna Cain, was 45 years old when she became pregnant with Paul. While pregnant, she also had four terminal diseases in her body (tuberculous, heart disease, breast cancer in both breasts, plus 3 tumors in her womb), all preventing the birth of her child. She was sent home to die, but she cried out to God to save the child in her womb. Shortly thereafter, the angel of the Lord appeared by her bedside at night, laid his hand on her shoulder and said, “Daughter be of good cheer! You will live and not die. The child you bear is a male child. You shall name him “Paul of Troas,” and he shall preach the gospel as did the apostle Paul of old, binding up the sickness and infirmities of My people. And he shall stand before kings and rulers of nations.” She was not only healed of all of her diseases, she gave birth to Paul, and then went on to live until she was 105 years old.  When Paul was 8 years old, this same angel appeared to him in the middle of the night. Paul's sister, Mildred, witnessed this event and called out to the angel, “Here am I Lord, speak to me too!!”  But the angel was only sent to confirm Paul's special birth and calling, though Mildred was graced by being able to witness Paul's call to ministry. From that time on, the prophetic and healing gifts began to be activated in Paul's life and he came to be named the ‘boy prophet'. As he grew, he went on to hold miracle meetings with William Branham and with all the generals of the healing revivals.  Over the years, Paul had a recurring vision (over 150 times) of stadiums being filled with people who were “nameless and faceless,” who ministered day and night for weeks on end. In the vision, everyone on the stage was filled with the power of God.  It seemed as though the whole world was turning to Jesus. You can listen to Paul recount this incredible vision at the end of this podcast.

This was the era of the Jesus Movement when millions of ‘way-out' pot-smoking hippies found Jesus en masse. Early on in his life, Rick experienced the presence of God when his grandparents took him to church meetings. He heard the stories of Aimee Semple McPherson and the miracles at Angelus Temple and longed to see them himself. However, due to his dysfunctional family system, Rick could not reconcile the message of God on Sunday with what was happening the other six days of the week. Finally, in his early teens, his parents divorced and there was no center to his world. Rick found acceptance and detachment in the suring/drug culture of Pismo Beach, California. Before long, Rick was hosting ‘Woodstock' type parties on a large ranch on the outskirts of town. Ten years of being stoned, virtually daily, left Rick empty and hopeless. Then the Jesus Movement began. It was the era of Barry McGuire, Keith Green, and Lonnie Frisbee baptizing thousands on California's beaches. And . . . Barry McGuire got to Rick! Hear how an original hippy came to Jesus, experienced instantaneous deliverance from drugs, and began to bring the ‘presence of God' to fellow hippies who knew nothing of God. In Ep. 21 of  What the Spirit is Saying to Church Lance says that, “the church must see the world as it is, not as we want it to be.” That is, like Elijah we must stretch ourselves out over the real dead corpse and breathe the breathe of God into it, in order to see life and transformation.    The prophet Daniel describes the clash of kingdoms at the end of the age. How at the times of the end, the power brokers of the kingdoms of this earth “will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his/their hands for a time times and half a time. Dan. 7:25”   Lance describes how dark spirits are using real people to bring about some very bad outcomes. How these power brokers are at work in the media, in the financial institutions, in governments, and activist organizations to push their own globalist agendas.   Lance reminds of that as the kingdom of God is expanding and casting down the rebellious systems of the world, we should not be shocked and surprised at the push back.   But Daniel also saw in 7:26-27  “‘But the court will sit, and his/their power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever. 27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.' As a strategist, futurist and compelling communicator Lance talks about big business, the nations -  Eastern Europe, Russia, China, and Latin America - how we can both prepare and help these nations and institutions to become Sheep Nations as described in Matt. 25. In “Seeing the World, As It Is” Lance brings you the key insights you will not hear anywhere else. Share this Episode of What the Spirit is Saying to the Church with your friends everywhere.

Instead of learning, Lance loved the theatre, the stage and the abundant attention of many girls. By age 16, Lance was succeeding in his social life, but failing at so badly at public school that his father pulled him out and forced him to go to Valley Forge Military Academy. Suddenly Lance found himself in an all-boys military boarding school, complete with hazing, armed guards, military barracks, and student officers lording over the rest of the students. It was like being in the Marine Corps! In this miserable context, Lance prayed to God for help. Then the unexpected happens: two ‘Jesus Freaks' mysteriously make their way onto his military campus and share the 'Four Spiritual Laws' with him. Lance is confronted with his own sinfulness, so he prays with them. As he is praying, Jesus invades his very being. Instantly, Lance was born again and tangibly filled with God. At age 15 Leanna was a self-declared atheist. “I don't see God, I don't hear God, and I don't need God,” was her perspective. But miracle after miracle brought her to the place where she secretly said, “God, I want to believe in you. Help my unbelief!” (Mk. 9:24).  Soon thereafter, she experienced a dramatic face-to-face encounter with Jesus!  In The Conversion of Leanna Cinquanta, you will hear how an angry, bitter and belligerent atheist became a radical firebrand for Jesus. Leanna's unique, faith-boosting salvation testimony has been featured on TBN, Daystar, God TV and many other platforms.    In 1996, responding to vivid dreams, Leanna forsook a budding equestrian career and set out for a region of the world then known as both “the graveyard of Christianity” and Asia's “poisonous hub of human trafficking.” Throughout the next 19 years, this “graveyard” became a vineyard of spiritual deliverance and physical renovation. Much prayer, persistence and persecution along with miracles of healing and deliverance brought about this dramatic transformation. Raised by a prostitute and a drug dealer, Jay Koopman never went to church or heard about God.  Abandoned much of the time, and physically abused by both of his parents, Jay grew angrier and angrier till he was almost unreachable, even by his family members.  Following in his step-father's footsteps, Jay became a drug dealer himself. Eventually, he was caught and taken before a judge who sentenced him to Teen Challenge instead of prison. It was here that Jay met Christ and learned disciplines – especially how to honor authority – that caused him to succeed wherever he went. Jay went on to become a pastor of a large church, which he recently laid down to be an evangelist in the “Let Us Worship” Movement lead by Sean Feucht.  He is now leading thousands to Christ across America. Jay Koopman Bio During 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, Jay joined Sean Feucht to travel the nation and see revival in America. Brian Simmons has always been a wild man. His wildlife began in rural Kansas in his teens when he started smoking and doing drugs. As a 'D' student in highschool, Brian dropped out and began to hitchhike across the US. He spent three years of his life as a vagabond, never knowing how he would make ends meet.  In this era, Brian recieved a draft notice to join the army. He soon fell in with other draftees and continued partying and smoking pot. Eventually, his perennial goofing off led to the threat of a court marshal. As all this was going on, a fellow service man invited Brian to a meeting off base, with the promise that there would be girls there. The meeting turned out to be a church service and  the preacher spoke on Sodom and Gomorrah. Brian felt so convicted that, as soon as the preacher told everyone to bow their heads and pray, he ran for the door. He only got as far as the front steps before breaking down in tears. He went back the next week and got saved that day.  Soon after receiving Christ Brian's Commanding Officer recieved a letter that the army was honorably discharging Brian and that he would not be court marshalled. Free of the army, Brian traveled home and found out that a group of hippies in his hometown got saved and thye had been praying for Brian's salvation. One of the members of this group was his a beauty queen of the town. Brian and Candice met and within three weeks they were engaged! At their wedding they made a vow to spread the gospel by going to the nations. They went to Bible college and then a missions bootcamp where they learned the science of phonetics and language.  With their schooling completed Brian, with his pregnant wife, and two children headed to the jungles of Panama. As the young family landed to meet the tribe they would be translating the Bible for, chants of "kill Brian" came through from outside the plane. Brian was terrified, thinking the tribe was going to kill them. Hear the incredible explanation of this crazy first encounter.  For eight years, Brian and Candice and their little family lived amongst the tribe. They learned the language and translated the Bible for the local people. They only came back to the US once in all that time. Here how the cultural differences tested Brian's love for the tribe, and helped them lead an entire unreached people group to Christ. You will love The Conversion of Brian Simmons. Brian and Candice Simmons: Translators of The Passion Translation Bible. Brian and Candice are true pioneers in ministry. Dr. Simmons is currently working as the lead translator of The Passion Translation. After a dramatic conversion to Christ in 1971, Brian and Candice answered the call of God to leave everything behind and become missionaries to unreached peoples. Taking their three children to the jungle of Central America, they pioneered church plants for many years with the Kuna people group. As a linguist, Brian also served on a team to translate the New Testament into the Paya-Kuna language.  After their time as missionaries the birthed numerous ministries, including a dynamic church in Connecticut.  They also established Passion & Fire Ministries, under which they travel as Bible teachers in service of local churches throughout the world. In time Brian had a divine encounter where God spoke to him that he needed to re-translate the Bible. Unsure of such an endeavor, a divine encounter with a “fiery man” who walked through his bedroom wall, confirmed the call to do a new translation of the Bible. A translation that captures the “heart behind the words” of Scripture.  This new translation is called The Passion Translation (TPT)!

With less than 2% of Christians in vocational ministry, we need a new mindset for the new era.  If you love Jesus, its time you take your gifts across the street or across the world.   Rick himself has done just that. He moved to Austin, Texas, the LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD because he has a dream . . . “What if the live music capital became the live worship capital?” Austin is home to one of the largest international music festivals in the world, “Austin City Limits.” You can't sign up to play there – you have to be approved.  After a prayer meeting one day, Rick called up the organizers and asked if they could play at Austin City Limits. The organizers gave them favor and said they could come in for half price ($200,000 USD). Rick and his team raised the money and hosted a 3-day event called PRESENCE in the middle of the Austin City Limits music festival.  The event manager came to their tent and, with tears in his eyes, said “I don't know who you are, I don't know where you came from, but I need to tell you right now, but this is the best event we have ever had at Austin City Limits. In fact, this is the best event I have ever been to in my life.”   This is the power of the future incarnational worship movement. Surrounded by other tents playing metal music, country music, with the best bands in the world, the worship of Jesus reigns supreme. Rick is forerunning where worship is going – into the daily lives of the city you live in. When you are willing to take your worship into the strongholds of the enemy, the Jebusite stronghold will be transformed into Jerusalem, the city of the great king! So, WHAT IS THE SPIRIT SAYING to the worship movements in the new era? “Worship more! Worship everywhere! Keep worshipping!”
