Do you have a mental list of things you want to do or say you want to do—big goals, small dreams, ideas that surface time and again? I always have a list like this in the back of my mind - things like learning a new language, mastering a handstand, or completing a project that's been sitting half-done for way too long. While it's great to have goals, sometimes they can hang over us as evidence of 'one more thing I haven't done!' and can even mess with our identity and sense of being enough. In today's episode, I share a simple but powerful exercise to help you get clear on what it would really take to achieve these things. When I did this, it became obvious to me which goals to pursue at this time, and which ones to let go of for now. And honestly? The whole process felt pretty freeing. This episode is an invitation to take a closer look at what you truly want, what it would really take, and choosing whether that's a commitment you're ready for make. It's always the best to think postiive, right? Not necessarily so. In this episode we're looking at prospective hindsight, and how imagining something has already gone wrong can provide some powerful insights to help us get the most out of a project or experience. This is not just about ruminating or worrying about things outside our control. I'm sharing the 'premortem' exercise. More effective than a SWOT analysis, this method is better at predicting the reasons something might fail, and empowering you with information you can use to take positive preventative action.  You can use this in business of course, but really you could apply it in any area of your life - I'm thinking relationships, holidays, investments, and other big plans or projects.  Have a listen and give it a go. Let's Connect!I'd love to hear from you. Their work is grounded in the belief that the pursuit of pleasure is an act of resistance and a liberatory practice. At the heart of Vanessa's work is a question. They ask: how can we more fully access the abundance of pleasure that is possible in our bodies, in our lives? 65. Is your goal TOO big?

In a world where goals are meant to be 'big, hairy and audacious', and where 'if your dream doesn't scare you, you're not dreaming big enough' this might be a controversial question... is your goal too big?Now stay with me here. I had a conversation with a dear friend in Nepal, and I asked him what he believed was the key to happiness. His answer (which I share in this episode) got me thinking about goals, and whether our goals actually enhance our lives? Not just in the future, when they're achieved, but now. We know that the happiness that comes from achieving a goal fades over time, so it's worth considering whether our goals make us happy, or enrich our lives in some way, even as we're working towards them. In this episode I share some questions you can ask yourself relating to your goals and dreams.  And I offer some suggestions for revising your goals to make them work for you, not just in the future, but right now.
