In this episode, I reflect on the experience of engaging in a 7-day meditation challenge, offering insights on the power of simple, short meditations and the universal struggle with meditation. I share personal experiences of how incorporating even brief, 1-minute meditations has led to greater consistency and depth in my practice this week. Drawing from the wisdom of Pema Chodron, the episode emphasizes that meditation is not about achieving perfection or escaping thoughts, but about creating space to witness the mind's activity without judgment. This process of noticing and allowing thoughts to come and go, Alexander Blue Feather suggests, is at the core of true meditation practice. I also share the joy of community meditation sessions, expresses gratitude for a birthday gift, and looks forward to upcoming personal events and gatherings, including attending a retreat at Kripalu. The episode closes with words of encouragement, reminding listeners that meditation is a revolutionary practice that allows us to hold space for our thoughts, feelings, and deeper emotions, such as grief and pain.

Send us a Text Message. In a world that constantly bombards us with challenges, deadlines, and multitasking, it's no surprise that many of us feel overwhelmed and burned out. This sentiment resonates deeply with our host, Dr. Heather Walker, and countless others, like us, seeking ways to navigate the chaos of life while maintaining balance and achieving peak performance. In the latest episode of the Lead with Levity podcast, Dr. Walker delves into these issues with esteemed guest Pam Marcheski, a peak performance coach with vast experience in senior executive roles at Fortune 500 companies. The OverwhelmDr. Walker opens the episode addressing the common denominator in our hectic lives: feeling overwhelmed. From conversations with clients, friends, family, and community members, one thing remains clear—everyone is grappling with stress and fatigue. The feeling of being 'fried' and the desperate wait for the weekend is all too common. This episode aims to offer solace and practical strategies for those struggling to manage their energy and mindset in such a demanding environment.Presence and MindfulnessOne of the key points Pam makes is the importance of presence—being truly aware of where we are, both in mind and body. In today's hyper-connected world, we often find ourselves physically present but mentally drifting away. By practicing mindfulness and paying attention to what's capturing our focus, we can devise strategies to better manage our time and emotions.Mindfulness in ActionPam's pivotal moment wasn't triggered by burnout but rather a desire to improve her interactions and presence. Her introduction to mindfulness came through Dan Harris's book "10% Happier," which taught her to focus on being present momentarily throughout her day and set intentions for her behavior and responses.Finding Space and GracePam advocates for creating 'space' and 'grace' within our daily routines. This means recognizing that the long-gone natural boundaries need to be consciously replaced with intentional practices that allow us to disconnect, even momentarily, to recharge.Facing the Modern Work DilemmaDr. Walker raises a familiar scenario—competing priorities and the overbooked calendar. Pam's advice is to get comfortable with discomfort and recognize the importance of prioritizing tasks. She encourages playing with the concept, experimenting with eliminating low-risk tasks to observe the impact, and being strategic about scheduling to enhance overall effectiveness.Bringing Levity to WorkBringing fun and joy into our lives is essential to keeping the energy high and preventing burnout. Pam shares personal tips like listening to loud, uplifting music, dancing, and even engaging in creative exercises like improv to add levity and playfulness to her routine.ConclusionThis episode of Lead with Levity podcast profoundly emphasizes the importance of mindfulness, presence, and intentional living. Pam Marcheski's insights offer valuable takeaways for anyone struggling with the pressures of modern-day life. From busy executives to overwhelmed parents, there's something in her message for everyone. Take a step back, breathe, and remember—mindful leadership can make all the difference. To learn more about Pam Marcheski and her work with M Peak, visit her website at intentact.com or connect with her on LinkedIn. Sarah O'Brien Hammond is the founder of the NoW NYC. She spent over 25 successful years in recruitment and never thought she was going to become an entrepreneur. However, when she started reflecting on what success really means to her and what she values the most, she also realized that she was at a loss as to her own life purpose. It dawned on her that as we grow older, our definition of success changes along with our needs and motivators. She then embarked on some sort of self-exploration and re-evaluation, she unsubscribed from the societal concept of success, which is from money, power, and influence. Then she started creating communities for women where they could openly discuss things that truly matter to them but which are not normally part of mainstream conversations. Drifting away from the world's idea of success to her translated into the priority of intentions she listed at the onset of the following year onwards.Highlights:      From acquiring money, power, and influence, her new definition of success now revolves around the purpose of prioritizing family. Family over making money.Redefining success necessitates an understanding that it is a long runway that requires a lot of sacrifice, strategic planning, working smarter, and being surrounded by the right people. Ingesting the right things in all facets of life is a necessary practice in the transition (the power of positivity)Consistently showing up with one's best self is necessary if one wants to change and have more control in her personal life. The NoW NYC is a community of women where members open up and engage in conversations that are otherwise not discussed in other environments. It includes empowering and coaching high-performing women as well as breaking misconceptions on certain issues. Its programming is designed from the feedback of its members. As one intentionally defines her purpose in life, it is important to create stillness, time, and space to dream. It is largely how The NoW NYC benefits its members. In every event, they are supposed to learn something; be inspired to take action; and, should have establish a connection with others. This episode is Sponsored by MarketMySTR.com the STR Industries #1 marketing platform. In this episode of STRUnfiltered, join Bill as he delves deep into the insights from Mike Michalowicz's transformative book, "The Pumpkin Plan," uncovering the essence of cultivating a ‘Super Pumpkin'. Bill vividly illustrates how, while achieving a degree of success with his Beach Mountain property, it fell short in comparison to the remarkable cash flow and growth observed in his other exceptional properties. Conducting a meticulous evaluation of the situation, he recognized that redirecting his equity towards a property with untapped growth potential was the key. Drawing from the metaphor of nurturing a Super Pumpkin, Bill draws parallels to the world of pumpkin farming, where some farmers opt for inexpensive seeds scattered haphazardly. Although an abundance of pumpkin sprouts, these seeds lack quality and the necessary room to reach their full potential. Translating this metaphor, Bill emphasizes the power of strategically planting your metaphorical seed in an emerging market, allowing it the expansive environment it needs to thrive. Whether through investing in a promising property or channeling resources into an up-and-coming locale, this approach ignites the potential to not only recoup your investment but to flourish. Bill's message resounds: By affording your STR (Short-Term Rental) the space to evolve organically, you pave the path for its ascension into the ranks of a Super Property. In this episode, Andy Lopata speaks with two incredible guests Jo Berry and Richard McCann about their experiences of trauma and forgiveness. Both lost a parent to violent acts - McCann's mother was murdered by serial killer Peter Sutcliffe in 1975, and Berry's father was killed in the IRA's bombing of the Conservative Party Conference in Brighton in 1984. Despite the immense tragedy, both found ways to come to terms with their loss and seek positive outcomes. McCann became a motivational speaker, while Berry started the charity Building Bridges For Peace. McCann shares his journey of forgiveness, beginning with forgiving his abusive father and eventually letting go of his anger towards Sutcliffe. He discusses how he tried to understand Sutcliffe as a human being, although his attempts to meet with him were rejected. However, McCann highlights that compassion and forgiveness can lead to healing and positive change, despite this painful journey. Berry shared how she made the decision to meet with the man responsible for her father's death. She stresses the importance of listening to one's gut instinct and taking responsibility for one's own healing by choosing a way that does not involve the person who hurt you. McCann & Berry also share personal experiences of forgiveness and healing, highlighting the power of forgiveness in bringing personal growth and positive change. They reflect on how their experiences have impacted their ability to forgive people for everyday issues, acknowledging that it's a journey with ups and downs. They also emphasise the importance of owning up to our mistakes, repairing harm, and creating stronger connections McCann shared how writing a book about his life without consulting his wider family impacted his relationships. Berry and McCann stress the importance of having supportive friends and family who will be there for you even if they disagree with the choices you make. They share how they have dealt with family members who do not support their choices and have focused on the positive relationships in their lives. This episode underscores the need for individuals to take control of their own mental wellbeing and not blame others for how they feel.
