Joe Rogan is a liar and that's the conclusion that I've come to. On this solo episode of Slumber Party we will talk about Adam Eget, the booker of the Comedy Mothership, making a stink and getting my podcast and show cancelled by Rebecca Trent at the Creek and the Cave. What's happening in the Austin Comedy community right now is not good.

WHERE MY MOMS AT!? It's the show by the Moms for the Moms. Hosted by everybody's favorite "cool mom" Christina P! Not only the most REAL show for moms, but the most interactive. An open place to admit no one really knows what they're doing. This week Christina is joined by old friend, Adam Eget. Adam is the talent booker for Comedy Mothership. He shares with Christina what it's like to have to deny comedians spots at the comedy club. Christina and Adam both grew up in The Valley, as they bond over their favorite Jewish deli. They get into some hot topics, like pronouns and how accepting 80s tv was of handicapped people. Being from the Valley, Christina and Adam were exposed to a lot of racial cultures. Adam worked for Persians and Christina exclusively worked with Hungarians. They end the episode with a roulette of topics from hemorrhoids to ringtones.Christina P. wants to hear from you since she is seriously lacking in cool mom friends. If you want to share a "Pazsitzky Effect" or "Mom Hack" please call into our voicemail (213)375-5184 and let Christina know! We want to talk to as many moms across America as we can.WhereMyMomsAt@gmail.com(213) 375-5184https://christinaponline.com/tour-dateshttps://store.ymhstudios.com/

WARNING: ADULT LANGUAGE!!*Norm MacDonald, son of Percy, will be known as The King in this description. A Short Appreciation of Master Comedian and Former Canadian Norm "The King" MacDonald I'm seeing a flood of tributes on social media and that's cool but I wish The King was around to see it.In the tributes you're seeing a lot of the same stuff - so I thought I'd pull the audio of some stuff you haven't heard.  Some of my favorite moments with The King.  Honestly, even if you've heard these before, they're still just as funny. CONTAINED WITHIN THE PODCAST1.  Working with Dennis Miller - The King would call into the radio show, and was a frequent guest on his HBO show, where one of his running things on that show was his love of puppetry. 2. The Blue Card Jokes … some writing from Adam Eget and the great Steve O'Donnell. 3. Gilbert Gottfried is comic gold on Norm MacDonald Live. Every episode is a great Norm Macdonald Live episode - my recommendations for specific ones in addition to the Gilbert episode: Andy Dick, Nick Swardson, Steve Merchant and especially the first episode, with Super Dave Bob Einstein. End: A brief passage from Chris Hardwick's incredible  (and hopefully very laid back) podcast. Cheers to them for understanding (fingers crossed)!------------Welcome to Season 2! Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 21, 2021 31:03

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for this episode of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, that numbers #271. This show is now in it's 10th year. Did you know that? Have you been here before? If not, welcome! If so, welcome back! If you are looking for a soundcast that tells you about other peoples' soundcasts on a regular basis then you've come to the right place. It's what we do here at Succotash…for 10 years now. Yes, I know I already said that…it's STILL sinking in for me. Those of you who listened to last week's episode will already know that it was hosted by this soundcast's creator and executive producer Marc Hershon. Number #270 it was and there was some top-notch content from the soundcasts known as The Ajumma Show", Geto Boys Reloaded", and Household Faces. There was also a funny musical clip found by Patton Oswalt by a singer/musician by the name of Nick Lutsko. It was a folk song comprised of the bizarre rantings of someone called "Alex Jones". This wasn't samples that were auto-tuned BTW, this was someone singing while a guitar was also playing. (I understand that that is a clunky way to put that. I also understand that "that that" is a strange sounding way to say anything. I usually turn the first "that" into a "thet" so it sounds like "thet that" when I use my outside voice.) ANYWAY…Epi270 also contained a clip of the late great Norm Macdonald from an episode of Norm Macdonald Live, a podcast that he had hosted with Adam Eget back in 2013. The show has 3 seasons of interviews and is back on YouTube after having been made unavailable in 2018 for some time. The clip had previously been featured on Succotash #89 and was part of an interview that Mr. Macdonald had conducted with the wonderful Carl Reiner. Rest In Peace both of them. This week, I've got clips from the soundcasts Dad Pants, Shenk and The Endless Honeymoon Podcast. This episode is sponsored by Henderson's Pants new Bivouac Pants! I do hope you enjoy what I've selected… CLIPS Dad PantsThis first clip was submitted among a handful of clips by a new show from some old friends. Stuart Buckland had a show back in the day called The Angry Chimp, which we featured in Epi84. He then eclipsed that 'cast in favor of What A Pair of Trousers, clipped in our Epi88. The Angry Chimp resurfaced and we had a clip in Epi107. Finally, back in Epi170 in 2018, Stu popped up again with the same lads and a new show called Welcome to Television. Now these lads are more or less dads with a suitably titled show: Dad Pants. It took Stu's friend Monty Leadon having a baby and asking the odd random question to make him realize that he didn't really talk to anyone about his parenting. Simultaneously, Monty found himself anxious about his impending fatherhood and wasn't sure how to start conversations about how he was feeling. The Dad Pants soundcast was born because when a microphone is in front of your face, you have to talk! The premise is that Monty asks Stu and a panel of other dads questions about what he is about to go through. I've selected the clip called "Prepping for Hospital", where the dads fill Monty in on what he needs to pack for the hospital. ShenkHost Sara Weinshenk sits down to talk to fellow comedian Kimberly Congdon (host of Broad Topix), discussing everything from mermaid dick to ass play plus ideal first dates and the podcast they are launching together. (They had a soundcast together called Stoned Science that I clipped for Epi168 waaaaay back in early 2018. They also have a new soundcast in the works called The Show.) The Endless Honeymoon PodcastNatasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher, married comedians, are using their hilariously hard-won wisdom on relationships and building on their hit Netflix special to help others by offering love advice to callers while simultaneously examining the ups and downs of their own relationship! Our clip comes from a recent show where their guest was Weird Al Yankovic. They discuss Al being perfectly suited to quarantine and hypothetically living to 120, and they give advice to a caller struggling to find meaning after ending a serious relationship. This, then, represents the end of this episode IF you were listening instead of reading this. You can reach me on social media, specifically Twitter and Instagram at @revt23 and let me know how much (or how little) you may have enjoyed this installment. I'm pretty interactive given the chance. Hey…change of topic…do you enjoy watching videos on YouTube to alleviate boredom, or perhaps to facilitate it? I've got plenty of gaming videos over at the channel that bears my name - Tyson Saner - including a playlist of over 10 hours of "Minecraft ASMR" footage that just might put you to sleep. It also might captivate you. I'm building a sort-of pyramid house right next to an actual pyramid. It's a trip. I'm also still theoretically giving out shout-outs for people who guessed the theme in Epi 269 by using the hashtag #Epi269Theme on Twitter.…no takers yet as far as I can see…anyway, thank you again for listening. Be decent to each other, and if someone asks you if you've heard something interesting lately, and you'd be telling the truth by doing so, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

Tyson Saner here with warm greetings and a friendly Saluton to you: soundcast lovers, listeners, people who are just curious about soundcasting...and people who are listening by accident. I don't know, maybe you walked into a room where someone is listening to us and you were grazed by soundcast earshrapnel. Who am I to say how you should be finding us? No one, that's who. Except I WILL say that if you do like comedy, soundcasts AND comedy soundcasts, you could take advantage of an extremely useful app called Laughable. It's an app that specializes in comedy soundcasts and soundcasts by comedians.  They've also recently expanded their content parameters and do not limit themselves to only comedy soundcast content. (I personally appreciate that as it is an ongoing goal I have to provide both types of content for Succotash The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast.)  And wouldn't you know it? I do happen to have a more or less fresh batch of clippage for your aural consumption…or your hungry-hungry ear-holes.  We've got clips from: Local To Nowhere (featuring a guest appearance from our esteemed executive producer Marc Hershon), I Shake My Head with Lisa and Sam, Swipe Left Swipe Left, The Ralph Report, Ari Shaffir's Skeptic Tank, and Tom Rhodes Radio Smart Camp. We've also got a classic Henderson's Pants Ad and a double dose of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O' Durst segment. CLIPS Local To Nowhere"A comedy podcast," Local To Nowhere, "draws on local news headlines to create narrative improv scenes. No city is safe. Hosted by Katie Lassiter and Ryan Fleming. They select a state each episode and read three odd, bizarre, or just plain weird news stories from that locale. They're also joined by one or more guests each installment. After sharing the news stories and then interviewing them, the guest is invited to choose one of the headlines and then the assembled cast performs an improvisational scene using the story as a springboard into some audio lunacy. Epi4 of Local To Nowhere featured Succotash Executive Producer Marc Hershon as the guest. The state chosen was Alaska and the scene involved a story about a boy on the outskirts of Anchorage who had a bear smash through the window of his bedroom. I Shake My Head with Lisa and SamFeaturing Lisa and Sam, two 47-year-old friends who podcast from the car because that's where they have their best conversations. This clip is from the epi entitled "Yep, We Are Creeping Your Fridge!" which dropped just a few weeks ago. Lisa and Sam enjoyed the "what's in your fridge" pictures and they reveal other podcaster's fridge personalities. The ladies chat about Sam's need for a longer vacation, Lisa's experience with a loud sniffer and why dressing in the dark is hazardous to your health. Swipe Left Swipe LeftFrom a note submitted by the hosts, Gavin and Claire: "Swipe Left Swipe Left is a collection of fun, intimate and sometimes excruciatingly embarrassing tales of the things that happen on the road to romance. The podcast combines rich sound-design with entertaining first-person narratives. While there are many podcasts focused on the more serious aspects of modern love and romance - we celebrate the bizarre, ridiculous and often hilarious moments that characteriize the quest for love. This is not social commentary but true storytelling. Each story is a totally unique, but all contain an element of the unexpected." The Ralph ReportThe Ralph Report is a daily show featuring news, pop culture, and current events as filtered through the twisted mind of its host, Ralph Garman. Garman has been co-host of the Hollywood Babble-On Smodcast with Kevin Smith for years but here he's on his own. The show features comedy segments, celebrity interviews, and TV & film reviews along with Ralph's take on what's happening in the world. The clip I play for you in this episode has a description that reads as follows: "It's the first episode of The Ralph Report! Let's talk NFL, Donald Trump and the SAG Awards! With special guest, Jimmy Kimmel!" Ari Shaffir's Skeptic TankAri Shaffir's guest in the Skeptic Tank in the clip we're featuring, from epi 295, "Low School", is Adam Eget. Adam runs the world famous Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. He's also the sidekick to Norm MacDonald on his YouTube program Norm MacDonald LIVE. I think I managed to find a great chunk that is indicative of the 2+ hours of this episode. Tom Rhodes Radio Smart CampThe iTunes description of this soundcast from comedian Tom Rhodes tells us it "is a festival of ideas, knowledge, stories, books & adventures. I have been a comedian for more than 30 years. I travel the world doing comedy. I almost drowned in Thailand, got maced in Paris and had my own late night talk show in the Netherlands. Whenever I can I will share my adventures and knowledge nuggets with you on this Tom Rhodes Radio Smart Camp podcast. This clip is from epi #246, January 12, 2018. Mr. Rhodes reads from the autobiography of Charlie Chaplin. A book which I have read myself at least once. That's about it. Remember that where there's smoke there's fire, and where there's peas, carrots, and Lima beans, there's usually succotash. Thanks for passing this latest serving!  — Tyson Saner

They reflect on why they did what they did and how they handle their food issues now as adults. WARNING: This episode is not meant to be listened to on an empty stomach. There is a lot of burger, dessert, donut and candy talk that will make you go crazy if you are anywhere near hungry. Proceed with care.

Hello, chum! It is I, Marc Hershon, purveyor of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast and your ears are hearing Epi 89! (If you’re a subscriber to us via ConnectPal, you’re hearing this two days before anyone else!) If you found Succotash through iTunes, Stitcher, SoundCloud, our Facebook page or any other means, would you do us a favor? Go back and rate us if you can. Five stars on iTunes and a short review. A "thumbs up" on Stitcher. A heart on SoundCloud. Whatever you have access to, it costs you nothing and makes a world of difference to us.  Of course, if you want to contribute more substantially, I invite you to click the Donate button on our http://SuccotashShow.com homesite.  Epi89 features my audio visit with podcaster, raconteur, singer, Ren Faire hanger-on, and bridge hanger-outer Hob The Troll. Although there are millions of trolls on the internet, Hob is the only actual troll-troll that I know of, and how luck are we that he hosts a regular Hobcast? He's had a number of wonderful guest on his show, some in character, some that just ARE characters, including Hal Lublin from The Thrilling Adventure Hour, who has been on our show a couple of times now. SUCCOTASH ZIPPER PULLS ARE HERE! Our newest tchotchke, the Succotash Zipper Pull, is here! This nifty thingy features a wee Succotash button clamped onto a little hook that affixes to pretty much any zipper you may have around on your jacket, duffel bag or gimp suit. If you're like one for FREE, you just need to email your snail mail address to zipper@SuccotashShow.com and we'll mail one out to you. DOUBLE DOSE O' DURST Once again, we've got two of our Burst O' Durst segments from cultural commentating comedian Will Durst this episode, as well as a "classic" Henderson's Pants commercial and a nifty set of clips – most of which were culled this week byour Associate Producer Tyson Saner. THE 10 MOST ACTIVE SHOWS ON THE STITCHER TOP 100 COMEDY PODCAST LIST The idea to focus on the 10 most ACTIVE shows on Stitcher's Top 100 Comedy Podcast List (rather than the Top 10 shows, which rarely ever change…) originally came to us from Ed Wallick, host of the Don't Quit Your Daycastpodcast. Just wanted to mention that because Ed let us know that he just bought some new podcasting equipment and used our Amazon banner at the top of the SuccotashShow.com website to get to that fabulous online everything store. You can, too, and Amazon will then kick us back a few quatloos to help us keep this operation going. Here's this week's 10 Most Active… AT                                                                                  MOVED 25 How Did this Get Made?                                                 -729 SModcast >> Jay & Silent Bob Get Old                            +1531 Bertcast’s Podcast                                                         +643 This Week In Blackness Radio                                         +551 Sklarbro Country                                                            +755 The Brian Callen Show                                                   +1058 What About Pod?                                                           -2061 The Champs w/Neal Brennan & Moshe Kasher                 -1065 The Cracked Podcast                                                     -3779 Harmontown                                                                 -13 EXTRA PLUG An Indiegogo campaign went up this week that's near and dear to the hearts of those privy to the San Francisco comedy scene. The Comedy Club focuses on Cobb's Comedy Club, from its inception in the Marina District through it's relocation and subsequent fire in the Cannery to its present location downtown. The comedians who have crossed the Cobb's stage range from the legendary to the obscure, and it's a story that's been lovingly told by filmmaker David Schendel. The film's almost all done except for final processing bits n' pieces. Check out the trailer and maybe even get your name in the credits at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-comedy-club.    THE CLIPS Chillpak Hollywood HourWe usually feature a snippet from this show each week that has Chillpak Hollywood hosts Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness mentioned Succotash. But the boys have been busy and that means pre-recorded shows with guests and not much mention of us. (Although they did tag us at the very end of the most recent show - thanks, guys!) So I figured this was a good opportunity to play a straight-up clip of this excellent show. It's a story of Dean's early days in Hollywood, and who he found when he went star-spotting at the once-popular Sky Bar. The Wolf DenThis show from the Earwolf Network, subtitled “The Business and Future of Podcasting”, is hosted by the network's co-founder Jeff Ulrich. It was just announced this past week that Mr. Ulrich is stepping down as CEO of Earwolf and also The Midroll, which is his podcast advertising agency. In an open letter to the Internet, he let everyone know that he’s taking a bit of a hiatus from showbiz, spending time with his family and figuring out his next steps in life. (I'm assuming The Wolf Den is either going away or maybe transitioning to a new host…) We feature a slice of Jeff’s chat with guest and fellow podcasting magnate Chris Hardwick from The Nerdist Network. The Smartest Man In The WorldI just did a review of Greg Proops’ The Smartest Man in the World for Splitsider and Huffington Post. And I realized it’s been a while since I clipped that show, which is a great example of – as I say in the review – a Master of the Spew. Someone who can keep up a steady stream of entertaining solo monologue. There are podcasters like Bill Burr and Larry Miller and Marc Maron who are certainly Spew Masters but Greg is one of the only guys who really only does it in front of a live audience as opposed to in a studio or an apartment or whatever. He was recently over in Wales, at the literary Hay Festival in the town of Hay and I pulled a slice of him getting into a riff around one of Wales’ favorite sons… Dining with Doug & KarenDoug Benson is, perhaps, most famous for his Doug Loves Movies podcast but he’s funny at so much else, including his Benson Interruptions and his Getting Doug With High YouTube show. With all that pot smoking that DB does though, comes a powerful need to feed. I’m not sure if that was the inspiration for Dining with Doug and Karen, featuring Mr. Benson and Karen Anderson but, high or not, you'll enjoy them along with guest Greg Behrendt as they all eat “Belly Bombz Asian fusion wings". Norm MacDonald LiveThere have only been about 15 episodes of Norm MacDonald Live, with comedian Norm MacDonald and co-host Adam Eget, and it’s actually a VIDEOcast from The Video Podcast Network, which is probably why it wasn’t exactly on my radar until now. (The 'sodes are later released as audiocasts via iTunes.) We're featuring a clip from a recent outing in which Norm was lucky enough to corral comic great Carl Reiner on the show. TANcastThe TANcast is a show I’ve seen tweets about but never listened to but then was inspired to when I saw some fun Photoshoppery by Tim Babb, one of the three hosts. He’s also a standup comedian, whereas his two buddies, Adam and Noah — T, A & N. TAN. TANcast, get it? — are not comics. But they were all roommates at one time and now, even though they are separated by distance, technology brings them together every week. This clip is from one of their regular features, TANLaughs, in which they read jokes sent in by their listeners. Sometimes really bad jokes. There's Epi89 in a nutshell. Or a blog, rather. Hope you enjoy listening. If you do (or if you don't), or if you'd like to tell me about a comedy podcast worth clipping that we haven't featuring on Succotash yet, drop me a line at marc@SuccotashShow.com OR call into the Succotash Hotline at (818) 921-7212 (also uptuyu on Skype…) and leave a message that we'll feature on the show. Pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
