Keep yourself safe from flattery by establishing boundaries around your mind, soul and spirit. Have discernment so that you will know when someone is being sincere or not. We have to stand up for what we believe in no matter how hard it is or how hard it gets as stated in Ephesians 6:14-17.

Stunning architecture, attention to details, service that includes champagne everytime you pass through the grand lobby... the list can go on and on. General Manager Attila AE Domby speaks on the history of thsi LEED Platinum property that is Kimpton's first verture on a new frontier. Well known in the US Kimpton is raising the bar in the city where west meets east. Speaking of bars there is a well provisioned rooftop SkyBar as well a one on the main floor. Quality dining experiences, and an extensive Hungarian wine selection really enhance the stay. I apologize for the slight echo, but imagine this interview happening in their wine gallery!

I am excited to introduce to you two partners of the Extraordinary Travel Festival, Matt Bowles and Ian Cumming. Matt is a 10 year plus digital nomad, who hosts the very successful as well as a real estate investment company. Matt can be found around the globe setting up shop in cities as diverse as Nairobi, Lagos or Luanda. I am pleased to announce that Matt will be one of the speakers at the ETF. You can connect with him here on . Ian Cumming is the founder of Travel Massive, a global networking platform for people who work in travel or are passionate travelers. There are scores of chapters around the globe hosting events or meet people on the network whether they be entrepreneurs or content creators. Travel Massive is also hosting our meetup on Thursday, November 14. . I believe there are 3 main pillars of why you might want to consider attending the ETF, this November in Bangkok. First is the destination. Maybe BKK might seem too common. Well as a resident I would posit that this city offers so much beyond the Grand Palace, the Skybar and riding a tuktuk. This is a true onion; you can keep peeling back more and more layers and keep on exploring. Maybe you are missing some NM regions in Thailand, maybe a funicular or the new UNESCO site, Si Thep. Or you missed Laos or Brunei on your last visit. There are cheap flights to everywhere in ASEASN. Or maybe catch a direct flight to Bangladesh, Bhutan or Kazakhstan. There is so much to see here! Second, is the content. We have an incredible lineup of speakers. More will be announced. Please take a moment to look at the speakers on the ETF website. Everyone from Thor Pedersen who went to every country without flying, or Renee Bruns who has explored over 130 countries in a wheelchair, or the Sultan Randy Williams, who invented his own country. And last up, is the community, the network of extreme travelers whether you are Chasing 193 or maybe enjoy Iraq more than Italy. Then you have found your tribe. We have some great events to share a drink and conversation with your fellow travelers …. Friday night will be a great party with music, Saturday will be the gala dinner, and, don't leave early, we will be hosting the NomadMania Awards live in Bangkok on Sunday. And we added in another meetup on Thursday evening, November 14th to check in with fellow attendees before the event officially kicks off on Friday morning. The host of our meetup is . So think of Bangkok as the hub for the event. A hub with great infrastructure at great prices. The spokes are everywhere in Thailand or the region you can visit easily. Don't get FOMO, come join the 170 plus who have already committed. And how many more will sign up in the next 3 months. Should be a lot of people! Feel free to go to the website, use code to save, and join us in Krung Thep this November. If you have questions, reach out to me on SM, contact form on the website, or anywhere else. Please listen in and enjoy. And check out the last episode on . Extraordinary Travel Festival II Update #8

You can follow along on his quest on . And third is Evelthon Vassiliou. He is another accomplished traveler who recently accomplished the 193. First up is Virginia Ko, a traveler who recently passed her 100th country. Virginia grew up in Maylasia, moved to CA, and recently quit her job to Chase 193. Wow! . Next up is Zahid Williams. Zahid is on his way to 100, but starting off with the challenging countries first. We even met randomly in the Pacific earlier this year. And last, I speak with Doug Mann. Doug is a true expat. Working for years in Germany and Japan, and now retired in Chiang Mai. Please listen in and enjoy.

Before I introduce my guest, a name from the past has reappeared. William Simon Baekeland aka Jesse Simon Gordon aka William Gordon. Maybe you do not know the back story. William appeared on the scene years ago, a young, extremely well-traveled individual and the descendent of a billion-dollar fortune. William won over some of the most experienced travelers and began to organize challenging trips for them. In fact, I interviewed him for this . Some of these trips took place, others didn't, and refunds were scarce. Harry Mitsisdis after a canceled trip put on his detective hat, and deduced that William Baekeland was really Jesse Simon Gordon from Birmingham, a product of limited means. In short order, it was revealed that William/Jesse allegedly had fleeced over $800,000 from the travel community. And I hosted another podcast , where several guests shared their experiences. William/Simon then appeared to go dark … until now. This episode was recorded a couple of weeks before the publication, so there will likely be more up to date news. But it was discovered that William has relocated to Pitcairn Island and was working in some fashion for the government. I was totally flabbergasted by this discovery. Really. William was hiding out in the most remote place in the world where he was most likely to be discovered. I am sure we will learn a lot more in the future. First up is Marc Jorgensen, a traveler who recently passed his 100th country. Marc has lived and worked in Brazil and also speaks Portuguese. Marc and I discuss our joint southern African roadtrip. Next up is Dima Zemsky. Dima emigrated to the US from Ukraine as a teenager to start a new life in the states. Dima is a member of the points community, and the spark of his travels began with a round the world trip. And last, I speak with Matt Keffer. Matt has leveraged his career and his business trips around the world into country counting. He also was a working expat for three years in Germany. With that in mind, I want to introduce three members of the community, three people who are coming to Bangkok, on this special episode. Meet the attendee! Please meet Marc Jorgenson, Dima Zemsky, and Matt Keffer. Please listen in and enjoy
Jessica Christensen, Mixologist and Beverage Manager, and Robb Stites, head of Communications and Community at Graton Resort and Casino join Steve Jaxon and Herlinda Heras on Brew Ha Ha today. Jessica is a Sonoma County native. She is responsible for all of the drinks at nine different bars at the Graton Resort and Casino. She started as a bartender at Negri's in Occidental when she was 21. After a few years she worked at Calistoga Inn and Brewery. After that, she was recruited to the Graton casino and soon got into management there. The first drink served today, after the soothing and inspiring sound of the cocktail shaker, is an Apricot Pisco cocktail. Pisco is a distilled spirit from Peru with a flavor that is close to rum. Robb Stites had a background in public relations before coming to the casino about two years ago. He describes the philanthropy and in-kind donations that they do as an expression of their commitment to the community. Jessica describes the Apricot Pisco cocktail that is in Steve's glass. It is made with Pisco, Luxardo apricot liqueur, fresh lemon, some acqua fava for the foam and some simple syrup. Acqua fava is technically garbano bean juice, which can produce a foamy texture. (Sometimes bartenders use egg whites for foam, but many people prefer this vegan alternative.) Visit Homerun Pizza, home of the Knuckleball! Fresh pizza dough made from scratch daily, la pizza è deliziosa! There are several bars in the resort; G-Bar is a sports bar and Sky Bar in the lobby has won several polls from Casino Player magazine. Sky Bar is a lounge bar at the center of the venue, Lobby Bar is a little more for craft cocktails, away from the gaming floor. There are also frequent concerts and comedy shows. The swimming pool is open not only to hotel guests now. You can buy day passes now for a cabaña, a lounger or a day bed, those are available seven days a week. Guests can bring food in from another restaurant or order from the poolside menu. The pool bar is right nearby. See our sponsor Victory House at Poppy Bank Epicenter online, for their latest viewing and menu options. The next cocktail they taste is a new take on a traditional recipe, called a Jalapeño Margarita. It will soon be on the Lobby Bar menu. It has Jalapeño-infused tequila, plus Cointreau, lime juice and agave. Floating on top, there is an Aperol and lime citrus foam. Russian River Brewing Co. is open in Santa Rosa on 4th St. and at their big Windsor location. Visit their website for up-to-date hours, menus, beers and more. Jessica describes the pool menu, which is the same as last year and is designed to be quick, fresh and delicious. Kiwi, blueberry, watermelon, mango and spiked lemonade. They also have a cocktail competition called Full Tilt. The first year the competitors were mostly from north bay but this year they will open it to bartenders from all over the Bay Area. One portion of the competition will be Iron Chef style, where the competitors get a set of ingredients they have to work with. This year it will focus on agave-based drinks. The Campari group is the sponsor.

Even when the Washington Commanders are smack dab in the middle of the offseason, there's never any shortage of news to talk about. Last week Commanders beat reporter for ESPN John Keim wrote the Commanders checked into the availability of retired Colts QB Andrew Luck. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk picked up on it and wrote a story. That caused Colts owner Jim Irsay to pop off on Twitter to not only say that would be a tampering violation, but that his team has asked the league to investigate the possibility. In addition, veteran Center Chase Roullier was released with a post June 1st designation. This means his salary will stay on the books until June 2nd. Chase was the team's starting Center since 2017 but was limited to 10 games the last 2 season due to injuries. That has us wondering who might be next. Is Logan Thomas a candidate to be cut? What about Andrew Norwell, Kendall Fuller or even Charles Leno? We'll dive into the possibilties of those players and if those cuts would make sense. Finally, two rankings came up that had us buzzing. First was the ranking by Mike Clay of ESPN who has the Commanders with the 11th best WR room. Mike also came out with a QB room ranking. He placed the Washington Commanders at 32. The disrespect! We'll talk about that and so much more on Episode 120 of Ref The District! The Warm Up is sponsored by Don't Sleep Energy. Justin, Painter and Dan run through a busy weekend for Auburn basketball in this edition of the podcast — from the de-commitment of Labaron Philon to the hire of new assistant coach Corey Williams and the transfer of Division II star Chaney Johnson. The guys look at how much Bruce Pearl's Tigers are changing this offseason and take the temperature of the program in a rapidly improving SEC landscape. They also talk about a pair of noteworthy transfer targets still out there and where Auburn can continue to revamp its roster. There's also a decent amount of Disney World and Skybar talk in here. It's mock draft season and we'll be holding our first mock draft of the year live on air. When we get to pick 16 (and 47 and so on) we'll ask for input on who everyone thinks should be the pick. Should the Commanders select a CB? How about an Offensive Lineman? Will they shock everyone and take RB Bijan Robinson from Texas? What if QB Will Levis is on the board?Plus we'll delve into the controversy of trash talking in sports and who we ever thought was the best trash talker in any sport. For the most part, free agency in the NFL is finished. Sure there are still plenty of names out there but most teams have spent their cap space and unless they make moves to free up more space, teams are finished. So what does the NFC East look like? Did the Eagles and Cowboys get worse? Did the Giants and Commanders get better? Who is now the favorite in the division. Also, Magic Johnson has been added to the Josh Harris group as a minority investor. Is this a last gasp effort for the group to try to win the bid or is it simply a way to spice up their winning bid in the eyes of the league who is desperate to show diversity?Lastly we'll talk about the sad state of affairs for DC sports teams. All 4 teams, Commanders, Nationals, Wizards and Capitals are going to miss the playoffs this year. Is there any hope on the horizon? All of that and more on Episode 113 of Ref The District!ponsored by:Don't Sleep Energy. As the start of the new year is upon us in the NFL, the free agency season has brought plenty of excitement to the offseason. The Washington Commanders made subtle moves to their roster. They signed Daron Payne to a massive long term deal while also signing OL Andrew Wylie from the Chiefs and Nick Gates from the Giants. They also signed special teams pro bowler Jeremy Reaves to an offer sheet, re-signed CB Danny Johnson and picked up Cam Dantzler off waivers from the Vikings. But what could be seen the most divisive move so far, free agent quarterback Taylor Heinicke signed a 2 year deal with the Atlanta Falcons that could be worth up to $10M per year. Apparently the Commanders were unwilling to commit that sort of money to their backup QB.We'll also talk about our groundbreaking (first ever fan podcast to interview Jason) with Commanders president Jason Wright. All of that and more on Episode 112 of Ref The District!Sponsored by:Don't Sleep Energy.
