An all new Appreciation Month is upon us here at Cinema Degeneration and this time we are heading out into the Dystopian fueled nightmares of the Apocalypse with 'Wasteland Appreciation Month.' It's a month long celebration of all things Post-Apocalyptic so you can expect marauders, scavengers, mutants and mayhem, cool car chases, fights over water and fuel, and battles of epic proportions. Our 3rd episode is on an eccentric action tale with 1983's "WARRIORS OF THE YEAR 2072" from Italian maestro director Lucio Fulci. Known also as The New Gladiators, Rome 2033 - The Fighter Centurions, Rome, 2072 A.D. and many other titles. Starring Jared Martin, Fred 'The Hammer' Williamson, Al Cliver and Eleonora Brigliadori. It's an odd tale of the post-apocalyptic world of 2072 (or 2033 depending on which version you're watching) where our characters fight in new age televised Gladiator style duels to the death for ratings. Sound familiar...maybe a little bit like The Running Man perhaps? Well, don't let that fool you because this film predates the Arnold Schawarzenegger classic by a couple of years. Our deep dive discussion on this Italian gorefest is headed off by the Grindhouse Pizzeria duo of Tom Komisar (of the band Slasherboy) and Cameron Scott (Cruel Summer 1 & 2). Buckle in because it's going to be a wild ride! "Take a good look at these contestants, because for these men violent death is just seconds away."

It's directed by Lucio Fulci and features a score by Fabio Frizzi. Even in the tropics the Squirms seem to come across a rotten time. Returning to full on horror, and one of the 'godfathers of gore' Lucio Fulci, the Squirms this week take a look at _Zombi 2_. Controversial upon release, and one of the notorious 'video nasties', it has all one could want from a Fulci film. From eye stuff, to being a questionable sequel to _Dawn of the Dead_, to a zombie fighting a shark, all the classics and more are there as the Squirms go further in on this great film! Lucio Fulci. Misogynist hack or under-rated genius? The Screaming Queenz are diving into his varied career with Zombi 2/Zombie Flesh Eaters, Fulci’s first foray into full blooded horror that some call the essential zombie movie. Hear a different take on this cult classic as three queers and an equally camp-loving heterosexual grapple with the Isle of Ma’tool – and boy do we milk Ma’tool… Tisa Farrow’s acting comes in for some severe shade but there’s a ton of love for Al Cliver despite our worry about his pasty ginger skin in that Caribbean sunshine. Find out which Bob Hope zombie movie from the 40s scared Jon Larkin as a kid despite never getting the credit it deserves, what gave Stephen Moore the giggles before the movie even started, why Martin Fenerty wants to bathe in Stephen’s blood, and hear how Jonathan Butler finds a connection between this movie… and Godzilla?? Twists, turns, puerile humour and lots of spoilers await you on the Isle of Ma’tool…
This week we finally end our look at the Phantasm series with the 2016 final installment Phantasm: Ravager. we also take a look at the Al Cliver fronted Italian flick Endgame
