Sam Kwak and Sam Riley - fellow 7Sage admissions consultants - join us to pull back the curtain on how law schools develop their scholarship models. What factors do Financial Aid and Admissions consider when building their scholarship models and how can those change over the course of the year? Is a scholarship model more like Scrooge McDuck's money bin, writing coupons, or both? What's the balance of merit versus need-based aid at law schools? All that and some headlines in our latest episode! And remember that for help with all things related to LSAT prep and law school admissions, you can check us out at 7Sage.com.

We're finally getting around to tackling Jane's only nonfiction novel, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," which covers the zombie apocalypse of 1813, as well as the marriage — officiated by Doctor Who himself — of Elizabeth Bennet to handsome actor Sam Riley, who everyone agrees is the best Mr. Darcy. Also, it's a movie, not a book, so I guess it's a documentary. Happy Pride Month! Special thanks to Baby Bee Carys for the theme music! Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy are back with the weekly movie reviews and they certainly have a lot in common. Maybe not with Pamela Anderson who is the subject of a new Netflix documentary (Pamela, A Love Story). Haley Bennett and Sam Riley are the latest exes to end up with the same booking (She Is Love). Noemie Merlant begins to unravel as a new mother (Baby Ruby) while Michelle Monaghan will do anything for her zombie son (Blood). A man tries to get across town to meet his movie partner (The Blind Who Did Not Want To See Titanic) and Jonah Hill is coming to Eddie Murphy's dinner (You People). Finally in theaters this week, four legendary actresses try to get into the 2017 Super Bowl (80 For Brady) and M. Night Shyamalan tries to ward off the apocalypse with Dave Bautista. She knew she wanted to be an author from the day she first read A Wrinkle in Time when she was a child, and she grew up inspired by authors such as J. R. R. Tolkien, Philip Pullman, Garth Nix, and Dennis Lehane (the ultimate master of plot twists). It has always been her dream to become a published author, and it is her hope to expand into multiple genres of fiction. http://linktr.ee/authormaphipps Rebecca is an American author who resides in the bucolic hills of West Virginia in the heart of Appalachia with her rugged husband, two hilarious daughters, and a small congress of animals. As you can see, she's fond of pretty words and has been since preschool. This is also probably why she wanted to be an author after reading Catherine Called Birdy when she was ten. This was the book that taught her how to say cuss words in a creative manner. Rebecca has two published short stories in the science-fiction and urban fantasy genres and plans to write full-length projects in the near future. She one day hopes to be able to add "multi-genre author" to her list of career titles. https://lnk.bio/rebeccarede

Joint Venture Partnerships have become a popular way to grow your list and make new sales – but sometimes these kinds of relationships get tricky and the playing field can quickly feel out of balance. One business owner is doing all the giving and the other one is benefiting. Or you feel like these “friends” just show up when it is time to promote their newest offering but they are stealthily silent when you make a request. Everyone is different, and when it comes to cross promotions, you might want to evaluate if you are attracting the sharks or the dolphins. Sharks tend to eat and run. =-) Dolphins like to hang out, play and generously support their friends. On Amplify Your Success Podcast episode 286, I'm re-airing another hot conversation on #NextLevelInfluence that Sam Riley and I had about sharks, dolphins and how to vet a potential partner before you say yes. [13:10] One very off-putting approach to vetting a potential partner (you'll want to avoid this at all costs!) [17:04] Sam talks about one factor that makes dolphins so amazing and will keep a partner promoting over and over again. [19:30] How to create win-win relationships with partners. [21:32] Sam talks about a really unique and powerful way she supports her partners (that doesn't even require an email list or posting on social media!) Tyler & I review Maleficent, it's a 2014 American dark fantasy adventure film directed by Robert Stromberg from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton. The film stars Angelina Jolie as the title character, with Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville in supporting roles. Loosely inspired by Charles Perrault's original fairy tale, the film is a live-action retelling of Walt Disney's 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty, and portrays the story from the perspective of the eponymous antagonist, depicting her conflicted relationship with the king and princess of a corrupt kingdom. In Episode 1 of Season 9: The Beat Generation, the guys discuss the most famous of all the Beat books: "On the Road." The book was written by Jack Kerouac, published in 1957, and was adapted for the screen in 2012. The film was directed by Walter Salles and written for the screen by Jose Rivera (who both worked on "The Motorcycle Diaries" together), and stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Amy Adams, Tom Sturridge, Elisabeth Moss, Kirsten Dunst, and Viggo Mortensen. The conversation in this episode ranges from the struggles reading the novel's diaristic flow, the sad (not upbeat) tone of the film adaptation, the miscasting of Dean Moriarty, and whether it even makes sense to adapt a novel like "On the Road." Listen to the episode for yourself and let us know which you enjoyed more, the novel or the movie. We want to find more fine listeners like yourself, but we can't do it without your help.
