In today's episode, Alex Schneider, president of the hotel division at Nikki Beach Worldwide, speaks with our host Robin Trimingham, and analyzes the need of luxury hotel business to transform from their traditional self-conception as hotel and entertainment venue, into becoming a multifaceted lifestyle experience.
Missing the beach? So are we, so we brought somebody to the podcast that knows all about beaches, hotels and hospitality. Alexander Schneider, president of Nikki Beach's Hotels & Resorts division came to visit us and told us the touching story of how the name “Nikki Beach” came about, the company's transition from beaches and F&B to hotels and what a true “Nikki Beach experience” for guests is all about. Alex and Fritz discussed the evolution of Nikki Beach, where Alex would like to open other locations and why city locations are very much an option for the brand. The two of them also debated about the change in tourism and travel, the social responsibilities in developing new destinations, as well as the importance of creating a positive workspace. Lastly, Alex let us in on the hype around one of the hottest (quite literally!) destinations in hospitality development at the moment and told us about his most memorable travel moment. Enjoy the show!

On this week's edit, Anna talks to author and speaker, Alex Schneider, whose mother was murdered by her step-father when she was only 16 years old. After a decade of healing, Alex has remarkably learned how to find compassion, advocate for the mental health community and navigate the complexities of forgiveness. An inspiring tale of overcoming, Alex's story teaches us that when grief and trauma are at play, the most powerful thing you can do is write your own new story. Other topics discussed on this edit: > PTSD, Trauma > Mental Health > Psychosis > Grief + Forgiveness > Writing a book > Telling your story, your way > True Crime Podcasts > Compassion > Group Therapy > The magic of dragonflies About the Guest: Alex Schneider is an author, speaker, and advocate from the West Coast of BC. Not surprisingly, Anna graduated from The University of Victoria, with a Degree in both English and Gender Studies, fuelling her eventual mission to put the power of words back into the hands of women. Despite multiple other certifications along the way, including one with world-renowned author and personal transformation pioneer, Deepak Chopra, it was ultimately her personal battle with post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety that became the catalyst for the work she does now, as she helps pave the way for others to live with vulnerability and courage whether they are online, offline or on stage. She is currently completing her Masters degree in Professional Communication at Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia. Thanks for listening! Episode: 00045 Release Date: March 8, 2021 Description: Advancement in technology has provided an abundance of tools and programs to law enforcement to modernize their approach towards Investigations and public safety; however, it takes an open and creative mind to envision the possibilities these tools and programs can do to help the agency with their mission -- it's not as easy as just pressing a button! In this episode, Chris Delaney shares how he cultivated a meaningful and productive workplace for civilian and sworn personnel to work harmoniously, set up a regional crime analysis center, conducted effective CompStat meetings and presentations, developed comprehensive databases, and his transition from a crime analyst to the private vendor, Esri. Chris gives insight on how he navigated through the tension between different entities and limitations of available technology, to reach solutions that benefited everyone involved. Chris also gives us a brief overview of the capabilities of the current Esri products and practices and what can be expected in the future. The episode wraps up with Chris's culinary specialty and encouraging words to the next generation of analysts and law enforcement professionals. Chris is currently the Product Owner for Law Enforcement Solutions at Esri. What's the legal definition of a product? Does it cover IoT and is IoT classified a product or a service? Given our laws were never designed for the types of products being sold today, it's not surprising that there are different interpretations of our current laws and regulations when it comes to IoT. In this episode of the IoT Business Show, I speak with Ron Quirk and Alex Schneider about the legal limbo we're in and how the legal landscape is evolving to catch up with the times. As we wrote about on the Ad Law Access blog (link below), the California legislature voted to send five amendments to the CCPA to the California governor’s desk. The amendments include a one-year exemption for access and deletion rights to employee data and B2B communications; a provision exempting online-only businesses from operating a toll-free number to accept consumer requests; and a new mandate for data brokers to register with the Attorney General’s office. Governor Gavin Newsom has until October 13, 2019 to act on the legislation. The California legislative session ended on Friday, and no additional CCPA amendments are expected before the law comes into effect on January 1, 2020. On this podcast, Alex Schneider discusses the amendments to the CCPA that had been pending in the California legislature and what's next. See our blog Ad Law Access (https://www.adlawaccess.com/2019/09/articles/ccpa-update-legislature-amends-the-ccpa-to-exclude-employee-data-b2b-communications-for-one-year/) for additional information on these and other privacy and advertising law topics.
