Download the Evaluating Ministries Worksheets Sign up for the Ministry Planning Workshop Welcome to episode 37. Today, we'll dive deep into the crucial process of evaluating your current ministry programs. We'll explore what's working, what's not, and why it's essential to ensure your congregation is well-nourished before extending your reach. What Is Working? We start by identifying the areas where your ministry is thriving. These are the spaces where you're witnessing positive results, community engagement, and the fulfillment of your mission. Make a list of the programs that are truly bearing fruit and contributing to spiritual growth and community well-being. Where Are You Seeing Fruit? Pay close attention to the areas where you're seeing tangible results, whether that's transformed lives, increased attendance, or deeper community bonds. These fruitful ministries are a testament to the alignment of your efforts with your mission and vision. Are You Feeding Your People? One of the most critical questions to ask is whether your current programs are effectively nourishing your congregation. Are they providing the support, guidance, and spiritual nourishment needed for growth? A ministry should be a source of sustenance for your people, both spiritually and emotionally. Are You Trying to Reach People You Don't Have? While expanding your reach is admirable, it's vital to ensure your existing congregation is well-cared for. Trying to reach new people while neglecting your current members is like feeding the neighbors' kids while your own children go hungry. How to Evaluate Your Ministries: Here's a practical guide to evaluating your ministries: Make a List: Create a comprehensive list of your current programs outside of regular services. Evaluate how long each program has been in operation and whether it's still relevant and effective. Assess the spiritual impact and growth potential of each ministry. Where are you seeing fruit? Examine whether these ministries are growing in numbers and/or spiritual depth. Determine if your current programs require more resources than they're worth. Next Steps: If your evaluation reveals that some of your programs are not effectively nurturing your congregation or that they require more resources than they bring in, it may be time to consider making changes. In our next episode, we'll discuss strategies for starting new ministries that align with your mission and vision, ensuring you can effectively reach both your existing members and those you aspire to welcome. As a ministry leader, it's essential to regularly assess your programs to ensure they align with your mission and vision, bear fruit, and effectively nurture your congregation spiritually. Take the time to make a list, evaluate each program, and consider whether changes are needed. The health of your congregation and the impact of your ministry depend on it. Why Suppressing Hunger Never Works For Weight Loss https://psychologyofeating.online/ss/ Are you ready to transform your relationship with food in a lasting and meaningful way? What if you could help others find the path to greater freedom and joy with food as well? Are You Trying to Control Your Appetite? In this short video, author of the groundbreaking and bestselling books ‘Nourishing Wisdom' and ‘The Slow Down Diet', Marc David takes a look at appetite, and why trying to control it might not be such a great idea. If you're trying to lose weight, you won't want to miss this episode! Key Insights: People looking to lose weight will often try to suppress their appetite. However, this never works as a long-term weight loss strategy, as we're constantly at war with our natural physiology. Appetite is not the enemy. We are designed to enjoy and find pleasure in food, it's hard-wired into our biology. If you are waging a war on your appetite, it's time to call a ceasefire. Learning to honor and listen to our appetite is essential to developing a healthy relationship with food. Using food as a de-stressor is not only natural, but perfectly OK. The key is making a conscious choice that you're using food to relax, and to simply allow yourself to feel encumbered pleasure while eating. If you're trying to lose weight, it becomes even more important to make eating consciously - and to begin identifying other ways to let go of stress. One of the most effective strategies to tuning into your natural appetite is to practice slow eating. Over time, slow eating transforms appetite dysregulation and helps us know when we're truly hungry. With his dual training in clinical nutrition and psychology, Marc David has spent the last 40 years helping people around the world heal their relationship with food. As the founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, he reaches millions each year through his books, speaking engagements, celebrated podcast series, and his internationally-acclaimed Mind Body Eating Coach Certification Training. “As long as you don't claim your gift, you can continue to let somebody else be the leader of your life.” -Cori Willis In this episode, I sit with Cori Willis, the author of Gifted for Greatness. Cori helps her clients find and monetize their unique gifts. Cori and I discuss why sometimes, we feel like there's a big hole in our lives. We know we should be doing something different, but that picture is either vague or scary. The question of purpose and feeling of emptiness keep plaguing our hearts. And as much as we would want to pivot and move towards the things that make us happy, certain factors stop us from taking risks or changing course. The good news is that we do not have to tear our entire life down to find that gift. Today, Cori shares what a gift is and her unique approach to finding it. She talks about how deviating away from our gift manifests in different ways, why we should embrace our quirkiness, how to build our intellectual property, and why we should be more aware of the data points in our life. We have been programmed to follow the traditional path, but not anymore! We hold the responsibility to reevaluate our life path and direct how our story is supposed to be. The only person who can tell if you're doing good is yourself. If you're ready to stop playing "good girl/boy" and following what others want instead of your own, click the link below to learn how you can show up with your unique gift and get paid to do what you love: https://jayrooke.com/118-Cori-Willis Check out my website: https://jayrooke.com/ Follow me on: Facebook LinkedIn Twitter Book for a JayWalking Session Episode Highlights: 02:12 What is a Gift? 06:11 The Puzzling Feeling of Emptiness Solved 11:39 To Claim or Not to Claim 17:25 Are You Trying to Fit In? 22:31 Embrace Your Quirkiness 29:29 Monetize Your Gift 36:45 Build Your Intellectual Property 43:15 Data Point Consciousness
It’s finally Friday and we can all get back to having busy weekends with no sleep whatsoever, but that’s all good cuz we got a Bull Yah!! In the What Are You Kidding Me stories, Millennials are now the majority of America with 51% of the population, Russia is pushing a mandatory Covid-19 vaccine before they finish testing it, and a Church in England is removing 700 year old pews because people are too fat for them. On Stream It or Skip It, Drew recommends the new season of “Umbrella Academy” and “The Magic School Bus Rides Again” on Netflix, the complete “Golden Girls” on Hulu, “The Incredibles 2” on Disney+, and “Jo-Jo Rabbit” on HBO Max. In the Fitz Files, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Garner were spotted together at the beach, last year’s “Bachelor” winner Hannah Ann has crashed the “Bachelorette” quarantine compound, and Kristin Cavallari has been spotted with her old “Laguna Beach” ex Steven Coletti and the internet is going so nuts that her recent ex Jay Cutler dropped off IG. We need your Insta-Therapy help for “Amber” from Kirkland who wants to know if it’s OK to tell her friend to stop using her 10-year-old son as her full time “Insta-Photographer” which “Amber” thinks is inappropriate. Are You Trying to Date in the Covid World? Fitz takes your calls on what a “first date” looks these days, like Jessica from Port Orchard who went on an outdoor date with a mask-to -mask kiss at the end, and Lindsey from Duvall who has only had Zoom dates. Believe It or Not includes Briana in Oak Harbor who once served Scarlett Johansen and got a $300 tip on a $20 tab, and Carl from Lynnwood who has NEVER had caffeine! The Weekend Party Preview includes classic cars at the Auburn Farmer’s Markets, Stephenie Meyer’s new “Twilight” novel Book Tour at the Skyline Drive-In, Fishing practice at Lincoln Park in West Seattle and “Sonic The Hedgehog” at Jennings Memorial Park in Marysville.
