Face cream, a Bristol liquor business, and a lifelong reverence for the elderly are just a few of the rather ordinary and disparate inspirations Paul McCartney brought together in the creation of a masterpiece: “Eleanor Rigby.” In this episode, McCartney and Paul Muldoon tease out the song's lyrical inspirations and discuss the influence a Bernard Herrman score for a Hitchcock film had on the lead single from 1966's “Revolver." The CBS Radio Workshop was an experimental dramatic radio anthology series that aired on CBS from January 27, 1956 until September 22, 1957. They produced 86 episodes. It was one of American network radio's last attempts to hod on to, and perhaps recapture, some of the audience they had lost to television in the post-World War II era. They had some outstanding directors: William N. Robson, Elliott Lewis, Antony Ellis, Jack Johnstone, Dee Engelbach, and Tony Schwartz. Bernard Herrman, Jerry Goldsmith, Ray Noble and Leith Stevens composed the musical scores. It was a great battle, but we all know who won the war! One very good thing is that all 86 of the episodes have been preserved. This track will live in the "Mystery-Crime" Playlist

STEALING. Any professional thief will tell you: If you're going to steal, steal big. There's evidence to suggest that the bigger the theft, the less the consequences. A good example is our government's debt of over 30 trillion dollars. The only people who will be punished for that historic financial fiasco will be the American people and not the 30, 40, or 50 year career politicians that created it. Today when groups of people loot a store, professional thieves say that's small potatoes. Some retail stores won't arrest you if you steal less than a couple hundred dollars. And why not? Our Consumerist Economy demands you get more. MUSIC Hans Zimmer,James Howard,Franz Waxman,Bernard Herrman

Zimmerman debe aprender a matar.

Looking Through The Glass Onion

"Miss Daisy Hawkins picks up the rice in a church where a wedding has been". This line came to Paul while sitting at a piano in Jane Asher's parent's house. Paul then took these lyrics to John's house where Ringo added the 'darning the socks' line and George added, 'look at all the lonely people.' With that, the beautiful and haunting Eleanor Rigby was born. Billy and Jay go deep on this one!Learn the names of all of the string players and why George Martin had to flex on them. Which version of the Eleanor Rigby Origin story do Billy and Jay think is the most likely story? You'll hear a lot of familiar names in this episode as well - they discuss the connection that Paul's Dad, Mal Evans, Donovan, Vivaldi, Bernard Herrman, Jerry Lieber and the band America all have with Eleanor Rigby. Jay and Billy also discuss the interesting reasons people have given when requesting this song to be played live - THE UNDERTAKER! This is the perfect episode to listen to if you find yourself darning your socks in the night when there's nobody there. We hope you care! Enjoy Eleanor Rigby!"
