Conte works with many of the leading fighters in the world, including Terence Crawford, Bam Rodriguez, Devin Haney, Joshua Buatsi and he's recently linked up with Chris Eubank Jnr. Conte is very much an anti-doping advocate today, but he shot to infamy as the mastermind of the BALCO scandal in 2002, which saw him jailed for four months. Subsequently, much has been said and written about Conte, including the Netflix Untold special, Hall of Shame, but here he has his say on what he has done, what he is doing, his portrayal in the media, his detractors, his regrets, and PEDs in the sport of boxing. This is unmissable.

As a trainer, Gary Lockett endured a brutal six-month period. Firstly, his charge Nick Blackwell was left fighting for his life following a hard-fought battle against Chris Eubank Jnr. Then, months later, Lockett was in the 'winning' corner when his boxer, Dale Evans was victorious against Mike Towell, who did not survive his injuries from the fight. It was a horrible spell and firmly tested Lockett's resolve and his passion for the sport, one that was dampened as a fighter in a career that saw him make his name with a violent left hook called 'Lockett's Rocket.' Trained by the likes of Brian Hughes and Enzo Calzaghe, Lockett is a raft of boxing wisdom and talks in colour about boxing politics and his own 12-year career which culminated in a unified middleweight championship to and in-form Kelly Pavlik. But by then, Lockett knew his time had come.

Sixth edition of the 4Thumps Irish Boxing Podcast sits with Prizefighter: The Lightweights hopeful Jono Carroll as the team runs the rule over his chances. We also review the Bad Blood card in London where there were wins for Tyson Fury and Billy Joe Saunders over Dereck Chisora and Chris Eubank Jnr respectively. Ah, Prizefighter. Domain of the undercard, career rocket launcher for the likes of Willie Casey and Martin Rogan. Eamonn O’Kane took the all-Irish edition, Mike Perez powered to glory in an international edition. But who remembers our other entrants? Neil Sinclair should’ve mopped up in 2010 but it didn’t happen. Dean Byrne and Conall Carmichael seemed to be good outside bets but didn’t get past the quarter-finals. Darren Corbett’s been there twice and never managed to take the crown. Rogan returned but fell victim to Audley Harrison – who also had Coley Barrett and Scott Belshaw on his list of victims from previous editions. Paddy Gallagher unfortunately lost a few boys some dough – don’t mention the war – while the less said about Kevin McBride and Declan Timlin’s efforts, you might say the better. Joe Rea, twice, Peter McDonagh, Ryan Greene, JJ McDonagh, Anto Fitzgerald, Simon O’Donnell, Darren Cruise, the list goes on and on and by the end of it, it’s more a story of heartache than success. Can ‘King Kong’ Jono Carroll come away with the Prize? That’s the subject of our sixth episode of the 4Thumps Irish Boxing Podcast, Ireland’s only boxing show on any platform. We sit down with the hairy man himself and mull it over with host Kevin Byrne, co-host Ciaran Gallagher and special guest Jonny Stapleton, editor of irish-boxing.com. We also look forward to a whopper night of Irish fights on December 13 on BoxNation featuring Andy Lee’s world title challenge and Stephen Ormond’s eliminator.

Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather and Shannon Briggs are also up for discussion, as well as an update from Chris Eubank Jnr’s open workout at his Hove gym. No politics, just boxing. Get involved.
ALL the talk centres around Sergey Kovalev’s bid to halt Bernard Hopkins before he reaches 50. Tris Dixon and Matt Christie attempt to answer some pertinent questions: What must each fighter do to win? What is the best result for the sport of boxing? How would a loss affect Bernard Hopkins’ legacy? Also discussed is Chris Eubank Jnr’s failure to report for duty at the press conference to promote his fight with Billy Joe Saunders, and we also look ahead to Nathan Cleverly’s return with Tony Bellew and ponder if the Welshman has truly recovered from his loss to Kovalev. No politics, just boxing. Get involved.
ANTHONY JOSHUA has made huge strides in a small amount of time, and while weighing up his impending test against Denis Bakhtov, the Boxing News boys also consider the starlet’s chances against the likes of David Haye and David Price. There’s much more besides, like the merits of Nathan Cleverly-Tony Bellew II as a PPV event, Shannon Briggs’ latest escapades, the fall of Chad Dawson, and all the latest with Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jnr. No politics, just boxing. Get involved.

No politics, just boxing. Get involved.
