Charles Manson did not begin as some desert demon watching the hippie dream from far away.He wanted in.This is Part 3 of my deep dive into David McGowan's Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon: Laurel Canyon, Covert Ops & the Dark Heart of the Hippie Dream. In this episode, we move from the early dark rooms of Laurel Canyon into Hollywood, Cielo Drive, Dennis Wilson, Terry Melcher, The Beach Boys orbit, and Manson's failed attempt to become part of the music industry. Most people know the end of the Manson story: the murders, the trial, the photographs, the documentaries, and the way his name became attached to the symbolic death of the 1960s. What gets talked about less is how close he actually got to the same music world that was selling freedom, rebellion, youth, and California possibility to the rest of the country.Manson wrote songs. He wanted a record deal.He became close to Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys.He met Terry Melcher. He moved through the edges of the Hollywood and Laurel Canyon scene before the world knew him as the face of the nightmare. This episode is not about pretending every connection proves one giant conspiracy. Some of this is documented history, some of it is David McGowan's interpretation, and some of it is part of the larger pattern he is trying to map.The question underneath this part is simple:Was Manson really outside the hippie dream?Or had the nightmare already been invited inside?Website: https://idiotmystic.comBlog: https://idiotmystic.com/blogDiscord: https://discord.gg/dXKjhZrZmMInstagram: https://instagram.com/idiotmysticTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@idiotmystic

Charles Manson didn't pull the trigger. He didn't swing the knife. But he convinced others to kill for him — and they did.A Scary Ringmaster who turned hippies into killers. In the summer of 1969, a failed musician and self-proclaimed prophet manipulated a group of young followers and hippies into committing some of the most brutal murders in American history. This is the story of the cult that called him “God,” the Hollywood elite who crossed paths with him, and the nights that changed Los Angeles forever. A mix of mind control, LSD, broken dreams, and twisted ambition — the Manson Family was a cult disguised as a commune. Their crimes weren't just murders — they were messages. Written in blood. This documentary reveals the full truth:

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Cielo Drive is whispered about in true-crime circles for one reason: tragedy refuses to loosen its grip on this sloping lane above Beverly Hills. Long before Hollywood knew its name, the land echoed with sorrow from clashes between Spanish settlers and the Tongva people. But the address seared into modern memory is 10050 Cielo Drive—the site of the 1969 murders that claimed the life of actress Sharon Tate and four others. In the late 1990s, producer David Oman and his father broke ground just a few doors away, intending to build their dream home. Almost immediately, David realized he'd invited more than contractors onto the property. Footsteps in empty hallways, full-bodied apparitions, and disembodied voices soon convinced him that the valley of shadows along Cielo isn't finished telling its story. Sharon Tate's entanglement with Charles Manson and her husband, filmmaker Roman Polanski, as well as her involvement in some of the long-rumored hedonistic events at her home on Cielo Drive put her at the center of a counter-narrative that explosively disrupts the supposed motive for the Manson family murders. Was Sharon Tate blissfully ignorant of the darkness that had been bubbling beneath Hollywood's shiny veneer for years? Or is there more to this story than we've been told in the past? Sharon Tate was a sophisticated beauty who literally stopped traffic when she walked down the street. She began her movie career when America was becoming sexually liberated, and despite the ease with which she was made a sex symbol, she aspired to be respected as a serious actress.
The headlines all over the world echoed that the murders committed by the Manson Family were ritualist. My special guest David Oman sits down to discuss the horrors of that day and the chilling paranormal activity experienced on Cielo Drive years later. In 1999, David started helping his father build 'the house' on Cielo Drive, next to the infamous Sharon Tate Murders aka the Manson Murders - after 2 years of living in the house, Oman created a story based upon his experiences called "House at the End of the Drive." Every floor and every room has spirits and visitors...and some have said that it's almost like a giant spirit party. The Oman house has been on featured on Ghost Hunters, Dead Famous Live, Searching for Satan, My Ghost Story, Haunted History, Ghost Adventures and Paranormal Witness. David and the Oman House have also been featured on Larry King Live, EXTRA and TMZ and CBS News LA. It's super easy to access our archives! Charles Manson and his "Family" needs little introduction - on the night of Aug 9, 1969 manson famiy members would basically bring down the 1960's motto of peace and love with their vicious killing of Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Steve Parent and Sharon's friends in the house of Terry Melcher of 10050 Cielo Drive making it infamous for something No One would want their house famous for - the murders were so vicious that it would send shock waves through Los Angeles and remain shocking up until this day 2023 almost 55 years laterThe next night supermarket mogul Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary would be killed in much the same way, this night, a young girl by the name of Leslie Van Houten would be a part of this nightmarish decent into murder hell - except out of all of thee members (Charles Manson included) all of them would be sentenced to death - except for Van Houten who would ultimately receive 7 to life but would not be paroled until 2023 - I do an overview of the manson family and Van Houten - the Right Shoe may expand on this at a later date

Leslie Van Houten was 19 at the time of the crime that she committed under the coercive control of arguably the most infamous cult leader of all time, Charles Manson. She has spent 54 years in prison for stabbing a dead or dying woman. We are not negating the brutality of the crimes committed by the Manson Family, and do not wish to diminish the atrocities that were inflicted on the victims. One important fact that is often misreported is that Leslie was not present at the infamous Tate murders on Cielo Drive. Many myths surround the "Manson Girls", and after reading Karlene Faith's book Leslie Van Houten's Long Prison Journey, Ash felt the need to tell Leslie's story as it happened, and not how it's been sensationalized by the media.Again, we implore you to listen to these episodes with an open heart and mind.
