First responders answer calls that become impossible to explain: a figure moving through smoke during a fire, a gunshot and scream in an empty parking lot, and a pale woman outside a grocery store who may already have been dead. Drawn from 50 Real Ghost Stories of First Responders by Eve S. Evans, these accounts ask what happens when those trained to face danger encounter something beyond it.The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Real-Ghost-Stories-First-Responders-ebook/dp/B09ZWTYKZQThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on Thursday.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. In the small Somerset village of Sidcot, George Beacham was remembered as a cattle doctor, a conjurer, and a man with knowledge of the old ways. When his final burial wish was ignored, the story says his widow's cottage erupted with moving furniture, falling household goods, and the sound of the dead man's boots coming slowly down the stairs. The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://archive.org/stream/historyofsidcots00knig/historyofsidcots00knig_djvu.txthttps://www.sdnq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Somerset-County-Herald-Notes-and-Queries-1919-transcript-by-Paul-Mansfield.pdfhttps://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/5615/banwell-forthttps://hauntedhosts.com/haunted-places/avon/location/1235-banwell-blown-cross-hauntinghttps://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2092/wimblestonehttps://www.paranormaldatabase.com/somerset/somedata.phpThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on tomorrow.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. In 2009, Bobby, Sherilynn and six-year-old Madyson Jamison drove into the Sans Bois Mountains to look at land for a new off-grid life and vanished, leaving behind their truck, their dog, their phones, their IDs and $32,000 in cash. But before they disappeared, the family had reportedly spoken of hauntings, spirits, demons, apocalyptic fears and a spooky warning painted on a shipping container: “Witches don't like their black cat killed.”The BOOKBY US A COFFEESubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch:https://crimejunkiepodcast.com/mysterious-death-of-the-jamison-family/https://oklahomacoldcases.org/bobby-jamison/https://allthatsinteresting.com/jamison-familyhttps://www.strangeoutdoors.com/mysterious-stories-blog/jamison-family-mysteryhttps://medium.com/@thewickedtruthyt/the-disturbing-case-of-the-jamison-family-7972f52b09c5https://int-missing.fandom.com/wiki/Jamison_FamilySarah xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. Deep in the Central Highlands, on the lonely shore of Loch Ericht, Ben Alder Cottage has held a haunted reputation for decades. Old newspaper clippings, bothy folklore, and modern overnight visitors tell the story of Joseph McCook, strange noises in the dark, doors crashing open, objects moving, and the uneasy feeling that this remote shelter is not always empty. The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:Dundee Courier and Advertiser, Friday 20 January 1978The Courier and Advertiser, Friday 12 April 1985https://ben-alder.com/mccooks-bothy/https://ohwhataknight.co.uk/blog/a-night-alone-in-ben-alder-cottagehttps://www.alexroddie.com/2018/03/a-night-in-ben-alder-cottage/https://outdoorsmagic.com/article/britains-most-haunted-bothy/https://www.dailystar.co.uk/travel/travel-news/man-left-creeped-out-uks-31288955https://munromoonwalker.com/blog/bothy-ghosts-giant-mice-and-john-fordThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on Thursday.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. A small 1994 newspaper clipping from The Scotsman we came across writes about a skull being uncovered on the island of Coll, in a place long known as Hangman's Hill and of the islanders frightened enough to ask the church to bless the ground. Behind the discovery lies an older Maclean clan tradition of murder, revenge, execution, unconsecrated burial, and the belief that some dead do not rest quietly. The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:The Scotsman — Monday 4 April 1994 — “Fear of ghosts haunts island”https://macleanhistory.org/resources/texts/the_clan_gillean.txthttps://archive.org/stream/transactions29gaeluoft/transactions29gaeluoft_djvu.txthttps://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/https://archive.org/stream/folklore08folkuoft/folklore08folkuoft_djvu.txtThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on tomorrow.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. In 1856, two young brothers vanished into the Allegheny Mountains, only to be found after a farmer dreamed their location three nights in a row. Decades later, another family claimed a dead father appeared in dreams to reveal a hidden will tucked away in an old Bible. In the 1970s, Bashir Kouchacji survived being kidnapped and tortured in Beirut after his captors accused him of being a CIA agent. Years later, after rebuilding his life in America, the phone began to ring. At first there was only silence, then laughter, then a childlike voice that seemed to know where he was, who he knew, and how afraid he had become. Across Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Brittany and beyond, people have long told stories of ghostly hearses, black coaches and funeral processions seen before a death has happened. Sometimes the sound of wheels is heard on an empty road, sometimes mourners pass silently along an old church path, and sometimes a hearse appears in a mirror before vanishing without trace. France, 1634. In the walled town of Loudun, a group of nuns began to scream, convulse, and claim they were tormented by unseen forces. They said demons spoke through them, twisted their bodies, and named the man responsible. What followed was not just an exorcism, but a public spectacle of fear, obsession, and vengeance that would end in fire.Because in Loudun, the question was never simply whether the devil had arrived. It was who stood to gain from everyone believing he had.The BOOKBY US A COFFEESubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudun_possessionshttps://demonology.en-academic.com/357/Loudun_PossessionsSarah xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. There are stories that belong to old forests, stories tied to ruined churches, and stories whispered beside fires long after midnight. They feel ancient, as though they have always existed, passed from one voice to another until nobody remembers where they truly began. But every so often, a legend is born somewhere much newer. This one came from the early internet, back when websites were crude, pages loaded slowly, and strangers wrote things online with no easy way to know if any of it was true. In 2001, a man calling himself Ted began posting updates to a simple website about a narrow cave passage he and a friend were trying to force open. At first it read like an ordinary climbing journal. Then it became something else. The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ted-the-caverhttps://bloody-disgusting.com/editorials/3488602/slender-man-creepypastas-ted-caver/https://lostepisodecreepypasta.fandom.com/wiki/Ted_the_Caverhttps://caver.neocities.org/page10https://caver.neocities.org/page8https://grahamjw.wordpress.com/2009/09/17/ted-the-caver-mystery/https://web.archive.org/web/20050513231554/http://www.holyshiite.com/caver/index.htmlThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on Thursday.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. Listener Warning: Tonight's episode covers the Soka Forest case near Ibadan and includes discussion of violent crime, kidnapping, human remains, torture, ritual killings, and disturbing scenes involving victims held captive. Some descriptions may be distressing, so please take care while listening and skip this episode if those subjects are not right for you today. There are certain places that gain a reputation so dark that even years later people still speak of them carefully. Not because they are ancient castles or abandoned asylums, but because something real happened there. Something so disturbing that fact and legend began to merge. Outside the city of Ibadan, beside the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, there was once a stretch of woodland many travellers barely noticed. Cars passed it every day. Buses rolled by in clouds of dust and heat. Motorcycles wove between traffic while roadside life carried on as normal. To most people, it was just another patch of trees. To others, it was somewhere to avoid after dark. The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibadan_forest_of_horrorhttps://open.spotify.com/episode/0qehAbFbd46qMgC6xl0rKGThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on tomorrow.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. A little seasonal extra for Beltane! As Beltane arrives beneath the Flower Moon, we step into one of the oldest and strangest nights of the year, when fires were lit on the hills, doors were guarded, and the boundary between worlds was said to grow thin. From ancient May Day customs to warnings of fairies, wandering spirits, and voices in the dark, this is the folklore of a night once treated with both joy and caution. The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://www.britannica.com/topic/Beltanehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beltanehttps://www.historic-uk.com/CultureUK/May-Day/https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/discover/history/customs-traditions/may-day-traditionshttps://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/full-moon-calendarhttps://www.almanac.com/full-moon-mayhttps://www.scotsman.com/heritage-and-retro/heritage/beltane-fire-festival-history-scotlands-ancient-celebration-of-summer-3699690https://www.visitscotland.com/info/events/beltane-fire-festival-p246341https://www.irishcentral.com/roots/history/beltane-irish-festivalhttps://www.libraryireland.com/SocialHistoryAncientIreland/III-XVIII-1.phpThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on Sunday!Sarah xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. Locals call it the Mulberry Black Thing, a silent predator glimpsed in the form of a black panther, a bear, or something far worse. The BOOKBY US A COFFEESubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch:https://www.theodysseyonline.com/haunted-williamsburghttps://www.tapatalk.com/groups/theshadowlandsmessageboard/the-mulberry-black-thing-t1862.htmlhttps://www.theshadowlands.net/places/kentucky.htmhttps://www.reddit.com/r/Kentucky/comments/1n0mn1g/folklore_in_eastern_kyhttps://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/comments/3tzrp0/cool_guide_to_mythical_creaturesSarah xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. They say she calls for help in the dead of night and those who follow may never come back. The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://podscan.fm/podcasts/wartime-stories/episodes/the-ghost-of-meaford-maryhttps://www.torontoghosts.org/index.php/the-province-of-ontario/central/298-meaford-tank-rangehttps://seasonsinthevalley.blogspot.com/2022/12/the-legend-of-blue-eyes-and-tce.htmlhttps://army.ca/forums/threads/have-you-had-the-experience.34948https://www.reddit.com/r/CanadianForces/comments/1pu1zzk/meaford_s_ghost_girl_blue_eyes_gets_a_videohttps://www.reddit.com/r/CanadianForces/comments/17kik45/in_the_spirit_of_halloween_whats_theThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on Thursday.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. The Gullah Geechee are descendants of West and Central Africans enslaved on the Sea Islands and coastal plantations. Isolated in these regions, they preserved a unique creole language and a rich spiritual folklore. For a long time, any ghostly apparition or sinister spirit in the Lowcountry was simply called a "haint," a term for haunt or ghost. But over time, people realised not all haints were the same. Gullah lore eventually classified the evil spirits into two categories: plat-eyes and boo-hags.The BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://genteelandbard.com/southern-history-haunts-folklore-journal/boo-hags-plat-eyeshttps://www.blacksouthernbelle.com/www-blacksouthernbelle-com-gullah-geechee-folk-rituals-hoodoo-voodoo-and-conjuringhttps://www.monstropedia.org/index.php/Plat-eyehttps://www.reddit.com/r/dogman/comments/1dz4act/i_learned_something_new_and_i_want_to_talk_abouthttps://charlestonterrors.com/boo-hags-haint-blue-vampires-of-the-lowcountry-the-paint-that-stops-them/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boo_haghttps://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/comments/ufxm0g/old_hag_sleep_paralysis_about_7_years_agoThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on Thursday.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast. In 1836, a cache of tiny coffins was discovered in a cave on Arthur's Seat — each one carved, dressed, and buried like a miniature funeral. Were they witchcraft, mourning dolls, or something darker: a ritual burial for those denied their graves? And across the city lies another chamber carved in secret: a stone labyrinth beneath a suburban street, whose purpose no one has ever truly explained. The BOOKBY US A COFFEESubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch:Fairy Coffins of Arthur's Seat:https://www.nms.ac.uk/discover-catalogue/the-coffins-found-on-arthurs-seathttps://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/edinburghs-mysterious-miniature-coffins-22371426/https://www.historicmysteries.com/unexplained-mysteries/burke-and-hare-murderdolls/467/Gilmerton Cove:https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/edinburgh/gilmertoncove/https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryMagazine/DestinationsUK/Gilmerton-Cove/https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/gilmerton-covehttps://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/history/mystery-edinburghs-gilmerton-cove-how-21413304Sarah xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/SURVEY Hosted on Acast.
