Indigenous media creators often end up in this trope of educating their audiences. It can be exhausting rehashing intergenerational trauma, reconciliation, and calls to action.  More and more Indigenous creatives are looking for the space to just exist and advocate for joy, and Adeline Bird is one of them. In this episode, she joins Matriarch Movement to discuss the things that are top of mind for storytellers: where is there room for representation in the media landscape, who really “owns” the Indigenous stories, and how will all of this impact the future of Indigeneity in media? More About Adeline Bird: Adeline Bird is an Afro-Anishnabe author, filmmaker, and producer. She grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, but is a proud member of Treaty #4 Rolling River First Nations. She has produced segments for daytime television hit shows such as CTV's The Social & Etalk. Adeline is a graduate of the National Screen Institute's CBC New Indigenous Voices program, where she made her directorial debut with the short film Nappy Hair and Eagle Feather, now featured on CBC Gem. Adeline was one of the 2018 ImagiNative-APTN pitch winners, and part of the 2019 cohort of Telefilm Canada's Talent To Watch. https://indigenousfashionarts.com/profiles/adeline/ https://www.instagram.com/adeline.bird/ Thanks for checking out this episode of the Matriarch Movement podcast! Watch the music video  here.Toronto, ON (February 16, 2022) - Award-winning rapper and iHeart Radio Future Star Winner, Peter Jackson is thrilled to release his new single and music video, “Mountain Valley featuring Trey Songz”. Notable for his pop/ hip-hop track “On a Wave”, Peter Jackson has become a rising North American hip-hop artist who has collaborated with some of the best recording artists in the business. During the span of his impressive career, Jackson has toured with some of the world's leading hip-hop artists such as French Montana, Sean Kingston, 50 Cent, Akon, Juicy J, Waka Flocka, Jadakiss, Machine Gun Kelly, Wu-Tang Clan, Akon, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, D-Block and more. The album and single is now available on all streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify. This year, Peter Jackson is making waves with the release of “Mountain Valley”, in collaboration with Virginia-born contemporary R&B singer Trey Songz. Peter Jackson looks to recreate the success of Marvin Gaye's 1967 classic duet, “Ain't no Mountain High Enough”, with his own new modern day take on the hit.Produced by KeanuGoinStoopid, JBat, and Pilot Beats, “Mountain Valley” is an upbeat track that features a slick production beat and vocals, and is the first of several new singles on the way to support Jackson's next album, slated for the second quarter of 2022.The song is about believing in yourself, and remembering that no matter what you dream of, no  mountain is too high. It's a testament to Jackson's self-made success in the entertainment business, and his ability to overcome the obstacles that have been thrown in front of him, no matter how big the challenge."It started as just a gift for my mentor and friend, but he saw it as a lot more, and wanted to see it come to life for me. I've spent this last year working on myself and bettering my life. Music will always be first and foremost to me, but I had to get my mind, and soul correct. My mentor helped me do that, so, in return, seeing this song come out as the album's first single and really succeeding means absolutely everything to me." said Jackson of the release.Along with the new song, "Mountain Valley" will be released with video support directed by Shawn Thomas of Canadian Film Coalition. The vibrant and energetic clip was shot over the span of a few days between Los Angeles and Malibu, California, and comes as Jackson's first visual offering since tapping Jim Jones for "Fell" back in February 2021.Peter Jackson's new album In God's Hands will be his first project since releasing his 23 & A Half EP in June 2020. Along with Trey Songz, it will feature 2021 BET Hip Hop Award-winner Yung Bleu, and more.

The first episode featuring radio host and television personality Josie Dye is available now with another set to launch on International Women's Day March 8th. Covering a variety of topics with inspiring female leaders including; Josie Dye (Canadian radio and TV personality), Tracy Martin (President, Canadian Country Music Association Awards), Liz Trinnear (LA correspondent for eTalk on CTV), Rida Naser (Program Director and Host, SiriusXM US) and many more, host Sarah Burke will explore the collective challenges women face in a male-dominated industry through thoughtful female-led discussion, influential guests and personal stories covering topics like bullying, motherhood, diversity and inclusivity.“Based on our physiology alone, women face different challenges than men do in their professional lives,” shares Burke. “I've always been particularly intrigued by how women handle the spotlight in the media. We have to fail, recover and rebuild the same way that everyone else does, but with a bigger audience; more eyes are watching. The media (understandably) loves to promote certain topics along with a given day or month with a hashtag or annual celebration, and I'm certainly guilty of participating. While I'm launching during Women's History Month and excited to share a new episode on International Women's Day, I'm here to remind women to brag about their accomplishments all year long! It's no secret that we often don't feel like we should or can, but we MUST!”On each episode of the Women In Media podcast, guests reveal and discuss the obstacles and trials they have faced as they built their careers; the important lessons they have learned along the way and share helpful advice and insight for fellow women, trailblazers, entrepreneurs and more.Releasing new episodes every other Monday (beginning March 8th), the Women In Media podcast is accessible on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and everywhere you listen. As millions of people across the country and worldwide continue navigating a new life of working from home amidst a pandemic I couldn't think of a better person to bring on than my own personal business coach and work from home expert, Stef Joanne. Stef is an online brand and business coach and the founder of her signature program, Build Your Online Empire. To date, she has helped thousands of entrepreneurs learn, apply and leverage the power of branding and online marketing in today's digital landscape. In this episode we cover:Work From Home best practicesHow to figure out what works best for you individuallyTime blockingTransitioning from a traditional office space to working from homeSetting and managing boundariesQuarterly/Monthly/Weekly planningPreserving energy and time through organizationAnd so much more!ACTION STEP: Get old fashioned pen to paper and brain dumb everything you need to do and need to get done (exercise, walking the dog, drinking your morning coffee uninterrupted, responding to emails, appointments, etc.) for a week and how much time you need to do it. Once you have everything written out, start to time block your calendar first with the things that are non-negotiable on timing (like appointments, meetings, calls, etc.). Once these are in, think about the other tasks and when you feel best or operate these tasks at your highest potential. Is it best for you to check and respond to emails first thing in the morning or does it make more sense to take care of this after lunch? When you have all your actions laid out instead of just in your mind you'll have a better concept of how much time you actually have available and ultimately alleviate the stress of keeping your lengthy to do list only in your mind! Try this out for a few weeks and don't get discouraged if you have to move things around. It can take time to get it down but I promise it's worth it!
