In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Dave Carson who is a hypnotherapist and Integral Eye Movement Therapist who creates subliminal recordings and helps clients to understand their self-talk and how this can be transformed to help them live more fulfilling lives. During this discussion Dave, highlights the importance of learning to communicate with ourselves in a positive and nurturing way to benefit our physical and psychological well-being. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe often develop negative self-talk through the interactions that we have in childhood.By removing ourselves from our day-to-day environment it can give us space to discover things about ourselves.Once you have recognised the loop of negative self-talk you can do something to change it.Negative self-talk can cause psychological and physical ailments. When you begin to like yourself, it helps your confidence to grow.It can be useful to observe your thoughts and make a note of the themes within them. The mind is incredibly powerful in giving us what it thinks we want or need. BEST MOMENTS“You probably won't meet anyone as joyful and happy as me today.”“I grew up in a quite an unusual environment. It was very negative. I was always told that I was never going to be able to attain anything. I was stupid. So, I grew up, basically believing this about myself, which does not help in life.”“I went to an ashram for six months in India, away from everything, you know. I mean, this was back in 1999, so we didn't really have social media like we have now. But it was just fantastic to go to this place, and it was like a dream come true, I was meditating every day, and I was doing yoga. I met some incredible people. And I was really able to spend that time to go within myself.”“Everyone's different, you know, everyone's individual.”“Now you've come to a realisation that you do have choice within situations. How do you get yourself to that point where you recognise that? You know what? It's because my epiphany told me that all of this was illusionary, right?”“And once you've broken that loop and you've got that awareness of this, then you have choice.”But I have to say, you know, one of the most helpful things that's really helped me along my journey, is positive self-talk and recognizing negative self-talk. I do believe this is a bit of a pandemic in the world today. I believe it's responsible in some shape or form for all psychological and physical ailments. I truly believe it's very overlooked and not talked about enough, which is why I want to talk about it.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Equipped with advanced certifications in diverse modalities like hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, mindfulness, meditation, past life regression and many more she has honed her expertise to bring about transformative change. As a full-time therapist and trainer, Debbie's driving passion is guiding others, as well as herself, towards their best selves. Embracing the concept of holistic beings, she firmly believes in addressing the mental, emotional, physical, social, energetic, and spiritual facets of well-being and healing Hosted on Acast. Rod Heaton was one of the fiercest football players in Rio Hondo Prep history. His intimidating presence and intense athleticism put him amongst the all time greats to ever wear the crest on their helmet. Back when I was in 4th grade, Mr Heaton was in his 20s and served as an assistant coach of mine that had a tremendous impact on me and my Gator teammates. He would pick us up for Church and take us on all kinds of fun unique outings. I used to love hearing stories from his high school playing days as we rode around in his pickup truck listening to the latest movie soundtrack music. Mr Heaton was a joy to be around, and I smile often when I think back to some of the best times with him when I was a kid. I really wish I could have seen him play on the field. Rod's team made it to the 1987 Title Game in his senior year. Unfortunately, he and his legendary teammates such as Dave Carson and Randy Johnson finished their incredible careers as a Runner-Up. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/a-charge-to-keep/message
Dave Carson and Kaz Dube are professional guides in Zimbabwe. Jeff Samuels is an American professional beach volleyball player, entrepreneur and coach. A former lacrosse and hockey player, he fell in love with the beach and has been doing it full-time, ever since. Starting his career with the NVL, he won newcomer of the year. He has since won a slew of open tournaments, regionally and on big stages, and remains a top player on the tour. A spokesperson for Hyundai for various branches, he spends a ton of time doing clinics for juniors and sometimes adults. David "Doc" Vander Meer is an American beach volleyball player. A defensive standout at Ball State university on the indoor scene, he quickly took his talents to the beach, where he remains a top player on the beach scene. His fifth-place finish in Atlanta a year ago was highlighted by upsetting the number one seed Dahlhauser and Lucena. Tune in, as we chat up "hands," chatting up with special guest, ref Dave Carson, the NCAA 16 team format, what we miss/not miss about the freeze, venues we would like the AVP to come back to, lighting rounds, taking care of your body, Phil's greatness, Doc's Atlanta upset, the best players on the world and domestic scene, advice to the next generation of male players, and MORE!
Episode 25 of the podcast means two years of regular episodes and what better way to celebrate than with Beneath Nightmare Castle, the 1987 Fighting Fantasy book written by Peter Darvill-Evans with interior art by Dave Carson. This is an interesting book because it feels like a return to classic Fighting Fantasy tropes while still pushing the design in new and interesting directions. Will our hapless hero manage that elusive first time win? If you're enjoying this podcast and want to support my nonsense then you can do so by going to patreon.com/hjdoom.
It's another episode of Balls & Whistles, and because of a very busy Thursday Andrew takes you through some of the interviews he has done this week. First off, he was at the Ross County match against Celtic on Wednesday night, so there is immediate post-match reaction from Harry Clarke and then manager Malky Mackay's response to rising Covid concerns as well as the pitch invasion by Celtic fans that sent a steward to hospital. Then we move on to rugby, where clubs have played their final matches of 2021. For Highland's first team, it was a disappointing result away at Heriots, but head coach Dave Carson tells us why he does not feel the National One title - and a spot in the Premiership - is out of reach just yet. Finally focus shifts to Highland Boxing Academy, who held their first club show since the pandemic began in March 2020. Narrowly taking a winning record out of the card, head coach Liam Foy tells us what it was like for club boxing to return after such a long absence. Get in touch with the show on Twitter (@Balls_Whistles) or by emailing ballsandwhistles@hnmedia.co.uk, and thanks as always go to Forest Fires for our theme song Scared of the Dark.
Andrew is on his own again, so it's time to hear some of the interviews that are behind the content in this week's newspapers! We kick off this episode by hearing from Ross County striker Dominic Samuel in the aftermath of the Staggies' 0-0 draw against St Mirren on Wednesday night, also looking ahead to their trip to St Johnstone tomorrow where County could move out of the relegation zone. While Ross County are looking to move off the bottom of the table, Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women still have eyes on the top of the Championship North. They play their last home match of 2021 against Buchan this Sunday knowing that every point will be crucial as they try to hunt down leaders Montrose - who have only just shown their first signs of vulnerability. To rugby, where Highland are also in action at Canal Park for the last time this year. Their opponents are Kelso, who scored a 40-point victory over Dave Carson's men at the start of the season, but with a stronger squad with players back from injury they will be hoping for a very different outcome this time around. Ross Sutherland hope to finally return to action after an extended lay-off, and they will fancy their chances against Caledonia North Two leaders Moray after feeling they should have had greater rewards from their meeting in Invergordon earlier this season. That's not all, though, as we also hear from professional boxer Ben Bartlett ahead of his homecoming in Inverness tomorrow night, and there is a bonus Rainbow Laces interview with Inverness Craig Dunain RFC's women's team vice-captain Erin Green. Get in touch with the show on Twitter (@Balls_Whistles) or by emailing ballsandwhistles@hnmedia.co.uk, and thanks as always are due to Forest Fires for our theme song Scared of the Dark. Check out their latest single, Deadweight, now!
This time it's Will who is off on holiday, so this week Andrew takes you through some of the major stories of the week with extended interview clips from the key suspects. After starting last week talking about the Camanachd Cup final between Kinlochshiel and Lovat, we talk to the winning manager in Balmacara to kick off this week's show after Johnston Gill made history by winning the biggest prize in shinty. Of course, there is plenty of football to talk about too, and most interestingly Ross County manager Malky Mackay made the decision to change goalkeepers against Hearts last weekend. He talks about why he made the decision to bring Ashley Maynard-Brewer into his starting 11. Highland Rugby Club picked up their first win of the season against Heriots, and now Dave Carson believes that - coupled with the return of some experienced heads - has put his side in a good place ahead of their trip down to Boroughmuir. Highland Martial Arts Centre took a squad down to the European Championships and had an unbelievable amount of success. Every single athlete won at least one medal, with three new champions crowned. Head coach Aiden Mackenzie, though, values the cameraderie within the group just as much as the extra hardware. While there are plenty of new jiu-jitsu champions, Northern Counties' cricketers will be looking to win a title of their own in the Senior League decider away at Forres. Alex Green will be the stand-in captain tomorrow, but he is trying to downplay the pressure that could put on his side. And finally, the Scottish Squash Open arrived in Inverness this week! Two homegrown talents were taking part, and you can hear from both Alasdair Prott and Martin Ross about what the competition could mean for squash in the Highlands. As always, if you want to get in touch with the show you can do so on Twitter (@Balls_Whistles) or by emailing ballsandwhistles@hnmedia.co.uk.
Dave Carson is an extremely talented man of many different roles thorughout the Star Wars saga: whether working as a storyboard artist, a Creature Shop sculptor, or visual effects supervisor, his work left a lasting mark on so many of the movies we love. From his start on The Empire Strikes Back to bringing the Gamorrean Guards to life in Return of the Jedi, he also has some incredible stories from his work on Star Tours and the Special Editions. Of course, we also dive in to his monumental non-Star Wars work, including Young Sherlock Holmes (the stained glass man), Willow (and his idea for the morphing technology) and Jurassic Park. Incredible. In this lead up to Episode #100 (which is crazy to even say) I would really appreciate some new reviews on Apple. If you can leave a 5-star review of the show right here on your favorite podcast app, or on Podchaser: podchaser.com/TalkingBay94 Unedited transcripts of previous episodes are now available over at talkingbay94.com. Dave Carson joined ILM in the late 1970's to work on the original Empire Strikes Back as a model maker and storyboard artist. That initial job opportunity developed into a full-time position where Dave went on to work on numerous films including; Dragonslayer, Return of the Jedi, Star Trek 3, Goonies, Enemy Mine, Young Sherlock Holmes, Willow, Witches of Eastwick, Hook, Jurassic Park, Casper, and Titanic (to name just a few...). In the mid 1990's Dave served as Visual Effects Supervisor on the Special Editions of Empire and Jedi. He eventually left ILM and went to work at Electronic Arts where he spearheaded groundbreaking work bringing a visual effects and cinematic sensibility to multiple game projects. Dave's career is a master class in the history of visual effects and the development of new techniques and tools. He approaches all his work with the eye of an artist and shares some great memories from his incredible career.
Candle 4 is lit. What does it represent as far as Jesus connecting Chanukah with His return - the Return of the King? So far Jesus has said He is God on Chanukah. The evil king Antiochus said he was god and he's the villain of this Jewish feast. He's not god - no way. Only Yeshua is Lord of lords and King of kings and the only God. But, Jesus said this on Chanukah and that ain't no coincidence! See John 10:22 and following. Then we remember Jesus teaching in a special sequence. In those days before He returns He talked about the abomination of desolation. He talked about fleeing to the mountains and not taking anything with us. All these are in the books of the Maccabees in the same order! Those books were written in the mid to early 1st century B.C. The disciples of Jesus would have had access to those books. Thus, it seems highly probable that they saw what Jesus was doing; He was creating an awesome connection between Chanukah and His return. So, as we put the Bible back into its historical context we too hear as they did THEN, and see the way those disciples did THEN, and understand the way they did THEN, so the Ruach HaKodesh רוח הקודש - our comforter and teacher - can help us enhance and expand our understanding NOW. In this vidcast you will meet some amazing women. We will also meet 7 brothers - men and boys who are also so amazing. Actually most of the women are teenagers. Girls married at 12 or 13 or 14 in and around 170 B.C. These young Jewish teenage moms and those 7 Jewish brothers exhibited courage and bravery that no Christian girl or young man in the USA would ever face or has ever faced. We will meet true heroines and heroes of the faith in a time of horror and death and fear and chaos. And Jesus tells us that perhaps the terror they faced is what may face moms with kids again and all of us before He returns. Here's the links to where you can purchase that amazing historical novel entitled, "Maccabee," by Dave Carson.
