This week we have the amazing Brittanie to talk about being a Tour Promoter. We have talked about so many jobs that exist on tour - but there is a whole other group of jobs that make it possible to even have a tour. A Tour Promoter is one of those jobs. It is also a job I thought I knew a lot about, but in fact I didn't know much about. Their job is very important when it comes to booking a tour, selecting venues - and then of course, promoting the tour! I took this opportunity to ask Brittianie all the questions I had on the topic - and she definitely answered all of them and more. Thanks again for joining me Brittanie - enjoy the episode everyone! In this episode of the Don't Shit On The Bus podcast we will learn: • How a tour is routed • The complexity of working with venues and other artists as a Tour Promoter • What Brittanie did to build out her position at AEG • How a Promoter works with an artist's team to help grow that artist (00:00) Intro (02:06) Patreon (03:46) Brittanie gets on the bus (05:01) What does a Promoter do on tour? A conversation about how he has been coping with 2020, being a modern Jerry Maguire, being straight edge, becoming a booking agent, Sound Talent Media, bands playing shows in 2020 & Live Stream Concerts. Throughout this interview Dave was drinking a Blackberry Blubly Sparkling Water. & Matt was drinking Brewdog's "Ghost Walker IPA". A Non-Alcoholic IPA that was brewed in collaboration with Lamb Of God. It was slightly sweet, mildly bitter & surprisingly non-alcoholic! It clocks in at 0.5% ABV. If you’ve ever seen an image of the skyline of Baltimore City, one thing that might have stuck with you is the massive, glowing Domino Sugars sign. Earlier this month we at PreserveCast got to visit the sugar refinery underneath that sign, which to this day processes some 7 million pounds of sugar a day. We also visited the offices of Triangle Sign and Service, the company that has maintained the sign since they first installed it in 1951. Join the conservation between Nick, and guests Peter O’Malley, Vice-President of Corporate Relations for American Sugar Refining (the company that produces the Domino brand), and Joe Trabert and Dave Shapiro from Triangle Signs, about how and why this local icon has lasted so long, and what it takes to maintain it. Honestly, it was pretty sweet. Listen here: https://www.preservecast.org/2018/03/19/the-domino-sugars-sign-live-from-triangle-signs/
This week Jason and Zack are joined by booking agent Dave Shapiro, of The Agency Group, to talk about the role touring plays in the life of a band.
