Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the rest of the IMF crew are back for ONE last mission....to save the world from The Entity, a massive artificial intelligence collective which has spread so far it is now on the verge of taking over every major nuclear weapons arsenal.  And the President (Angela Bassett) is running out of options as Ethan still has possession of ONE key item which our AI overlord still needs....a cruciform key.  As this is a direct continuation of the previous Mission: Impossible sequel (Dead Reckoning) from a couple of years ago, most of that film's key cast returns including series stalwarts Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, along with Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, and Esai Morales as the villainous Gabrial.  Also returning is director Oscar-winning writer/director Chris McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Jack Reacher) who has now helmed his fourth Mission:Impossible film in a row.  Once again, the stunts gets crazier and The Cruise Missile seems to put his life on the line even more for the sake of pulling them off-screen - this leads to crazy action both underwater and up in the air!  Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a texthttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Send us a textFlashing back to episode #72 of Fabulous Film & Friends way back in 2023, we covered Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 and so we here on FFF felt duty bound to our fans to give our take on its follow up and what could very possibly be the final sequel to the entire M:I franchise, 2025's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Henry Czerny and Angela Bassett. Keeping continuity, my guests this week are returnees from the 2023 podcast, my blockbuster crew David Johnson, DMD and Burton Brown. Does anyone remember what happened in Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1? Here's a callback to my synopsis from that podcast:Ethan Hunt and his team of Mission Impossiblers have to go rogue yet again to stop the world from  yada yada yada. Same old crap megalomaniac with a weapon this time it's AI. Or something.  Esai Morales is involved. I fell asleep twice so I didn't quite catch the relationship between the AI and Morales' Gabriel character. This movie seemed like more of the same old same old. But as a Tom Cruise running movie, it's a masterpiece, reaching an operatic Death in Venice level of running sophistication. So how does 2025's big follow up differ? This time Ethan Hunt and his rag tag team of crack superspies have to stop the AI Entity from blowing up the world as well as Gabriel from trying to harness its unbelievable power. Yet, instead of  running extravaganza, we are treated to the biggest boldest, hands down, accept no substitutes granddaddy of all info dump and flashback movies. Is it the best, the worst or somewhere in the middle of the series?Find out! Watch the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/dZfi-Cr8v20

Here we are! Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt for his final(?) adventure with his IMF crew. Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise's latest team up - Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning - has now arrived in theaters, and is, of course, the second part of the Dead Reckoning saga of this franchise. As I've said before, Mission: Impossible is probably my favorite movie franchise of all-time. That answer has likely come about due to a number of my other favorite franchises diluting themselves over the last number of years, but Tom Cruise just knows how to deliver a kick-ass time at the movies. He's done so again, and again, and again, so consistently over the last decade, even outside the Mission franchise. That being said, Dead Reckoning was an interesting specimen. I loved it on first watch but that movie did not do very well at the box office, which was extra surprising considering it was riding the tremendous wave of Top Gun: Maverick's success the year prior. On successive rewatches, I myself have grown to have a number of issues with that movie but still find it to be an incredibly satisfying action movie. It's certainly still better than most other action movies you've seen in theaters since that film, largely because of Tom Cruise's endless dedication to risk his life... for our entertainment of all things. But, can Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning overcome the story shortcomings of its predecessor to close out Tom Cruise's run as Ethan Hunt with his most memorable ride yet? Find out in this SPOILER-FREE review!Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning:Directed by: Christopher McQuarrieWritten by: Christopher McQuarrie & Erik JendresenBased on the television series created by: Bruce GellerProduced by: Tom Cruise, Christopher McQuarrieExecutive Producers: David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Chris BrockMusic by: Max Aruj, Alfie GodfreyCinematography by: Fraser TaggartEdited by: Eddie HamiltonCasting by: Mindy MarinProduction Design by: Gary FreemanCostume Design by: Jill TaylorCast: Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Mariela Garriga, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell and Angela BassettSynopsis: Ethan Hunt and the IMF team continue their search for the terrifying AI known as the Entity — which has infiltrated intelligence networks all over the globe — with the world's governments and a mysterious ghost from Ethan's past on their trail. Did You Know Hitmen Can Get Life Insurance? This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl are reviewing the new Dave Bautista action-comedy The Killer’s Game. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 The Killer’s Game: 5:01 The Killer’s Game (2024) Out of 10 I Certainly Don’t Want to Get the Horns Darryl: 6/10 Brian: 7.15/10 Summary “The Killer’s Game” (2024), starring Dave Bautista, is an action-comedy film centered on Joe Flood, a seasoned hitman who decides to end his own life after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. In a twist of fate, he soon discovers that the diagnosis was a mistake. However, his decision has already set events in motion, as other assassins have been contracted to take him out. Now, Joe must use all his skills to survive the onslaught of killers while navigating his unexpected second chance at life. The movie combines action-packed sequences with a darkly comedic narrative. Cast Dave Bautista as Joe Flood: A seasoned hitman who orders a hit on himself upon receiving a mistaken terminal diagnosis. He becomes the primary target for other assassins, sparking the film’s main events. Pom Klementieff as Marianna Antoinette: A mysterious woman who plays a significant role in Joe’s predicament by putting out a hit on him. Ben Kingsley as Zvi: Joe's mentor, likely someone who has guided him in his career as a hitman and now plays a crucial role in the unfolding events. Scott Adkins as Angus Mackenzie: Details about his specific role are limited, but given Adkins’ action background, he is likely one of the assassins targeting Joe. Marko Zaror as Botas: Another character who is potentially involved in the pursuit of Joe. Terry Crews: His character’s name and role haven’t been fully detailed, but he is one of the notable additions to the cast. Drew Galloway as Rory Mackenzie: His specific character background hasn’t been fully detailed. Lee Hoon as Goyang: A hitman hired by Marianna to kill Joe, suggesting he is one of the obstacles Joe faces in the movie. Raffaello Degruttola as Dr. Kagen: The doctor who initially diagnoses Joe with a terminal illness, setting the plot into motion. Crew & Production Directed by J. J. On this final week of 2023 we're going run and run and run with Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in 2023's Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 1, one might even say Dead Reckoning Part Run  directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Mr. Cruise, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Cary Elwes, Esai Morales Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan, and Henry Czerny.  My two guests are my right hand men on The Blockbuster Crew: Utah's own David Johnson, DMD and Burton Brown, State of Utah IT.  Before the mad dash to our opinion of this movie, the synopsis:  Ethan Hunt and his team of Mission Impossiblers have to go rogue yet again to stop the world from  yada yada yada. But me go further: This is the biggest offender in “The Each Sequel Feels Like the Exact Same Thing Every Time --Except More of It” category.  In fact the whole series is the worst, far worse than James Bond.   Followed by:  Bourne IdentityX-MenRecent Planet of the Apes movies andHarry Potter  Am I right? On your mark! Get Set!Run!
