This time it is a bit unusual "Soul Food Shows" issue consisting of 30 classic soulful tracks and it is 3.25 hours long) As always, recorded live and it is a sort of tribute to Louie Vega, Josh Milan, Glenn Underground, Vick Lavender, Nathan Adams, Ralf Gum, Sean McCabe and other dj's, artists and vocalists who influenced and shaped the soulful house scene (full track list is available, of course). Most of the tracks are taken "from the vaults" - meaning that other remixes were included in the previous "Soul Food Shows" issues and it gives a bit different flavour all together. Hey Everybody, We are back in the studio for this one & with the upcoming May-day holiday, this mix is a tribute to all those long weekends in my 20's when I went away with friends to somewhere new, often for no other reason than we hadn't been there before. A girl in a bar who said she'd meet me in some underground club later. Never see her again, but it turns out to be the best night ever. Finished work follows their creators' passion. It's never been so good for house music as now. Especially recently, with top pop/hip-hop stars creating music with house music beat structures, flavours, and samples from great classic house anthems. More and more people will come through that wide commercial funnel and some will find more specific sub-genres of house music. Their lives will be changed forever!The Afro-House most downloaded lists on Traxsource and Beatport have been interesting over the last few years because of the sheer amount of amazing tracks created and the variations of rhythms.A house DJ/producer friend of mine, Andrew invited me to do a guest mix on a South African podcast that he's been involved with for years. They have a group of extremely passionate DJs involved.In preparation, I decided to do a mix with my fav Afro-House tracks that Jim and I have bought over the years and continue to buy. I usually don't make mixes with just one type of house, however, this would be a good attempt to refine a more distinct sound for this coming guest mix in the late summer.This mix was made with much love and this took 8 attempts to get the right feel (I changed directions a bunch of times). A few fellow Toronto House DJs love techy Afro-House or "Afro-Tech" as it is called by some. This is why I chose this funny title, 'datfrotech'.
