Bosq & Kaleta - “No Walls" from the 2023 compilation album By the People, For the People on House of Afandi Records Long-time collaborators Bosq & Kaleta team up again for an Afrobeat-inspired disco funk groove.  Born Benjamin Woods in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Bosq is now based in Colombia where he has dominated dance floors with his blends of Afro-Latin music with Disco, Funk, Reggae, House, and Hip Hop. Singer/songwriter/producer/musician Leon “Kaleta” Ligan-Majekodunmi was born in Porto Novo, Benin, and was active in the Lagos, Nigeria music scene in the '70s.  On today's Song of the Day, they convey the message, "TEAR DOWN THE WALLS." As Bosq writes on Instagram, "In Gaza & the West Bank but also all over the world. The vocals in the beginning are spoken in Zulu, a South African language. The South African people also long suffered under a racist apartheid regime that was supported until the very end by Israel and the US. She says 'open the gates here comes the elephant, open the road here comes the elephant.' Palestine will be free." Volvemos a hacer un repaso de canciones que vieron la luz el pasado año. Y articulamos el set en tres partes.Si, comenzamos la sesión dando una breve audición al discazo, de título “Estrellas”, que se ha marcado Guts el pasado 2022. Este polifacético artista francés (compone, remezcla, digitaliza y pincha), radicado en Ibiza, es un auténtico camaleón en cuanto a sonidos y estilos se refiere. Sus registros, entre otros, han pasado por el carimbo, el calypso, el hip-hop, el dub, el reggae, el funk, lo latino, lo afro, lo afrocubano, la electrónica... El disco en cuestión, y referido al programa, se mueve entre los ritmos cubanos (San Lázaro) y afrocubanos (Il N'est Jamais Trop Tard, Medewi, Por Que Ou Ka Fé Sa).En una segunda parte nos movemos entre el hip-hop que nos proponen Groovewax & Troy Berkley, el reggae con toques de hip-hop que aportan Yaniss Odua & Danakil, el puro reggae que nos trae Tiken Jah Fakoly, la rumba con sonidos balkan desarrollado por Rumbarista, y los sonidos latinos actuales que manejan con maestría Bosq & Dorkas.Y la tercera se sustenta sobre una base electrónica que se mueve entre el trip-hop, el downtempo y el lounge inspirados en sonidos de raíz como los andinos (Seba Campos), la cumbia (Bial Hclap & Hector Guerra, Amaru Tribe), y lo árabe con arranques de rock (Orange Blossom).

4348 Kevin Cole Thursday 10/27/22 Bosq Song for Ehi (feat. The Ibibio Horns and Kaleta) a 2022 single on Canopy Limited. Bosq is the musical pseudonym for Benjamin Woods, who has been utilizing Afro-Latin music in fusion with Funk, Disco, Reggae, House and Hip Hop to dazzling effect for a decade now. The Boston-bred, Colombia-based musician has released 4 full albums, heaps of EP's of original music, and countless collaborative singles and remixes with artists like Fania Records, Orchestre Poly Rhythmo de Cotonou, Poolside, Nickodemus, and many more. He recently teamed up with the horn section of Ibibio Sound Machine as well as vocalist Kaleta for a fiery new single released via Portugal-based label Canopy Records, whose specialty is “Sub-Saharan synth swagger, re-calibrated and re- celebrated.” Titled “Song for Ehi,” the track is a combination of classic Edo-funk, Afro-disco and reggae disco with a groovy meandering bassline, soaring horns arrangements, and timbale breakdowns.
