Baltimore graffiti legends DLordInk and Meca came through If This Doesn't Work to talk about the real culture behind graffiti; the rules, the respect, the beef, the crews, the toys, the side-busting, and how street art turns into paid murals across the country. In this episode, Danny Lorden aka DLordInk and Meca break down what most people don't understand about graffiti: how writers earn respect, what makes someone a “toy,” why side-busting matters, how Baltimore's graffiti scene has changed, and how social media made the culture bigger, easier to copy, and harder to control. They also talk about KSW, Baltimore graffiti history, painting trains, the difference between street bombing and mural work, Banksy, Jake Paul, MGK's DC Warped Tour stage, road life, painting across America, and what it means to turn something illegal, dangerous, and underground into a real career.Next time you watch an episode, the set behind us will be painted by these two.You can find and commission art from these guys here:DLordInk: Insta: https://www.instagram.com/dlordink/Instagram Art & Merch: https://www.instagram.com/dlordink_art/Merch: https://dlordink.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dlordinkMeca: Insta: https://www.instagram.com/jaemeca/Follow the Podcast:

Another end, and another beginning. Aquarius and the first half of Imbolc are over, and we approach the New Moon, the start of Pisces, and the start of the New Lunar New Year. As we pass through this portion of the Wheel, we pass through some very important fixed stars. This collection of stars always reminds me of the Martin Luther King, Jr. quote “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” But a loving reminder, dear Heathens, it does not bend by itself. Our deeds are the force that bends it, or not. This is a great star to contemplate the arc from our foolish youth, to our present state, to whatever we might become in the future.Notes and charts for each week's podcast are available for Patrons at the Mercury level and higher.Want to support this work? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This Moon is going to bring into sharp focus the compromises we are forced to make to live in Western capitalist society. In what ways have you been required to sell your dreams or your ethics when it comes to survival and physical resources? This Moon is going to help us - with discomfort - to get clearer on what we want to build in this world and what compromises we are willing to make to manifest those dreams. This moon could also be a moment of defining exactly what we won't compromise on, even if it means taking the harder road. Whoops! A lil late with this one, so much for organized and responsible! Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Pluto all snuggled up with the Moon and Sun this week. In the broadest context this is our feelings and our sense of self/purpose, feeling in alignment with the current zeitgeist, which is of course relative to our environment. This can embolden us if we are surrounded by a bunch of like minded folks. Further, we're getting support from Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, so it may feel like we have the approval of the Gods. This potent lineup will last for a few days past the New Moon, so utilize the time to consider the largest form of your blueprint for the coming year. Juno Sospita, The Happy Woman, Ekeko, and fixed stars like Dabih and Altair are here to help us build worlds this week.Notes and charts for each week's podcast are available for Patrons at the Mercury level and higher.Want to support this work? The straightforward symbolism of the massive protests happening this weekend against the backdrop of the Waning Moon in Libra is profound. This Moon lights up the cardinal axis in a grand cross and all at once we might feel a need to be direct and purposeful in the world for our self, our partners, our family, and our collective, while simultaneously feeling over-committed and dissatisfied with past attempts at this work. Feel that discomfort. The ‘gift' of the Waning Moon is to get square with what changes demand to be made, and deeper clarity about what cannot go forth. Entities like Janus Bifron, The Norns, Surya, and Malanka are here to illuminate, guide, and comfort us.Notes and charts for each week's podcast are available for Patrons at the Mercury level and higher.Want to support this work? Happy New Year! Cancer Full Moon energy wants to nurture. What if we nurtured our cities? What if we treated our community like our family? What if we treated our neighborhoods like they were our sacred lands? Wealth, power, and how to keep it, is the concern of Capricorn. This week's Moon and astrology are spicy! Some difficult information may come to the surface disrupting our peace and stirring up old wounds and drama. Do what you can to find peace and posi vibes.
This week is the beginning of the end for this podcast. I've realized that the creative loop that inspired this project has closed and it is time for me to move on to the next one. We'll close out the month of October together, and then you'll have to come find me on Substack to know what happens next! Before we part ways, let's talk about why this podcast started, what it healed for me over these last several years, and what the next phase of the journey of healing is going to look like.Alok's reel: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIjec4MxSwV/?hl=en Give what you can to this GoFundMe to provide hot meals to Palestinian children in north Gaza: https://www.gofundme.com/f/Hot-meals-in-gaza-daily Donate to www.anera.org and if you are in the US go to www.uscpr.org and www.jvp.org for education and prompts for taking action to support Palestine. I don't know what to say anymore, but I want to say something about the mindset we are taking into this fall of the United States into tyranny. There's a problem with the lens we are looking through that we have to clean up if we want to build a better future out of this mess. We have to let go of perfectionism and let people be out of pocket while they are changing.Give what you can to this GoFundMe to provide hot meals to Palestinian children in north Gaza: https://www.gofundme.com/f/Hot-meals-in-gaza-daily Donate to www.anera.org and if you are in the US go to www.uscpr.org and www.jvp.org for education and prompts for taking action to support Palestine.
