When you think of cryotherapy, you probably picture a human stepping into a freezing cold chamber — but did you know cryotherapy is now helping horses without the giant ice-box contraptions? This week on The Fur Real Podcast, we dive into the cold, hard facts with Brady Case of Precision Equine Therapy, a pioneer bringing mobile cryotherapy directly to horses (and even their owners!). Brady breaks down how targeted cryotherapy triggers a powerful physiological response that reduces pain, inflammation, and promotes faster healing — often slashing recovery times in ways that seem almost unbelievable. We talk about the science behind the chill, why cold therapy works so effectively for injuries and maintenance, and how his mobile system makes it easy for horse owners and trainers to integrate cryotherapy into their regular care routines. Not only is Brady treating horses, but he's also empowering owners, trainers, and barn staff to learn the techniques themselves — creating a ripple effect of better health and recovery in equine communities everywhere. If you love learning about cutting-edge animal therapies, want to boost your horse's performance and recovery, or are just curious how a little cold can create such hot results, you won't want to miss this episode. www.furrealpodcast.com www.pecryo.com fb The Fur Real Podcast fb Mark A Kyle fb Precision Equine Cryotherapy ig@thefurrealpodcast ig@markakyle ig@precision_equine_therapy tik tok @The Fur Real Podcast tik tok @pecryo Speical thanks to J Jig Cicero @jjigcicero for our music intro and outro..you rock!!! Kristyn Plancarte is a marine biologist and animal behavior expert with more than a decade of experience. She has worked with marine mammals like sea otters, sea lions, walruses, false killer wales, African penguins, and beluga whales. She ensures their health and welfare; trains them to perform specific actions like doing eye drops, giving a blood sample, or spraying the audience with water; and educates in person and on social media. Kristyn shares all about how she helps the animals, funny stories and experiences she's had with the animals, the process for training them, how you can get into the field, and why she is so passionate about her marine mammal friends. We also chat about her unexpected foray into the social media world and how she uses multiple platforms (TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, and Instagram) to educate, engage, and inspire people to care about the animals in our ocean. She became a content creator during the pandemic so she could share what she and her colleagues do and see at the aquarium, because so many facilities and resources were closed. Along with her community, she has raised almost $50,000 for conservation!** Note. New year, new tunes, new benchmarks, new heights. What a start to Selador's twelfth (count ‘em) year. We were delighted when Dilby debuted for us recently with the vocal gem ‘Give It Up Again', a standout feature on our recent Showcase 20 compilation – and we're doubly delighted (verging on overcome, frankly) to follow it up in double quick time with this essential EP. The Berlin-based Kiwi straddles genres effortlessly, and subsequently finds his tunes in the boxes of a wide variety of DJs. This stellar selection will no doubt follow suit. We kick things off with ‘Sacred Ground' a majestic roller with a classic ‘90s feel that hits the spot in all the right places before dropping to a distinctive ‘dread' vocal. ‘Closer' then steps up with its rolling percussive intro paving the way for duelling riffs, a real early ‘00s classy heads down vibe for this one. And our titanic triptych is completed by the aforementioned ‘Give It Up Again', which is more than worthy of another trip round the block as a reminder of its undeniable potency. I'm sure you've seen plenty of movies, TV shows or ads featuring animals – whether it's a show based on one, like Babe or even if they're just in the background – like a dog on the street. Did you know there needs to be at least one animal trainer present on set? My guest today is Jet Shaw, and she does exactly that. She's also an internationally acclaimed animal behaviourist and educator. She's worked on some of the biggest movies, like Avatar, and has a career spanning over 3 decades.I'm very aware when it comes to animals and the ethics of them working in show biz, it can be a really complicated topic. It definitely is for me. But what I wanted to explore in this episode was the basics about the actual experience, so we don't go too far into the politics. It's a really important conversation, and I think it deserves an entire episode of it's own. So who knows, maybe one day. What I will say is this… Jet is SO passionate about what she does. Her love for animals is undeniable, and as you'll soon hear, she's incredibly strict about the high standard she keeps to ensure the well-being of her animals on and off set. She's also really funny… You're going to hear about how Jet became a trainer, how it all works as well as some pretty special moments - you might even recognise a couple of the stars she's worked with. So without further ado - here's Jet. Get in touch if you'd like to suggest an idea for an episode or just to say G'day
Dave Seaman - Two By Two (Alican Remix) - Selador Support from Adriatique, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, DJ Harvey, Super-Flu, Jonathan Kaspar, Captain Mustache, Jamie Stevens, AFFKT, Bog, Damon Jee, Animal Trainer, Magit Cacoon, Joyce Muniz, Nicole Moudaber Oh lordee!!! As if Dave's ‘Two By Two' wasn't already humungous enough, hot on the heels of the barnstorming original comes the equally magnificent Alican remix. We said the vocal hook brought to mind Divine's seminal proto-houser ‘Native Love', and we suspect our guest may have felt the same, as there are definitely traces of the trademark early 80s Bobby O production style in this peak time workout. This sizzling slice of 21st century mesmeric electro-disco further showcases our man from Istanbul's wide-ranging talents, as displayed not only on his Selador outing ‘Montroze' las year, but also on recent releases for the likes of Innervisions, Kompakt and Get Physical. Like all the best remixes, it's the perfect wingman to the Original. Get it down ya! Team Selador – Double trouble!
Our Fall 2024 Bird of Prey Workshop focused on key topics such as managing fear and aggression in raptors using the constructional approach and non-coercive negative reinforcement and using progressive weight management techniques. Handling fear-based reactions, like those seen in a juvenile bald eagle, requires careful arrangement of the environment and building skills with your bird to have more reinforceable behaviors. The workshop also highlighted the importance of fitness and motivation over strict weight control, ensuring the bird's health and well-being remain a priority. Dave Seaman - Two By Two - Selador Support from Guy J, Just Her, Nick Warren, AFFKT, Murat Uncuoglu, Eelke Kleijn, Dino Lenny, Jepe, James Harcourt, Animal Trainer, Marc DePulse, Radeckt, Marco Resmann, Gai Barone, Cristoph, Lane 8, Khen In the blurb for our new releases, we like to meander down the road less travelled when it comes to our choice of bon mots. We strain every sinew to come up with descriptions that do justice to the aural treats we are celebrating. However, sometimes you hear a tune, and it just blows yer socks off, rendering you uncharacteristically speechless. All you can muster is over-used, vacuous platitudes like ‘anthem alert' or ‘absolute banger' which, funnily enough, brings us to a case in point. Dave's new Selador offering ‘Two By Two' grabs you eagerly by the hand and drags you to the floor from the off, sticks yer head in the nearest speaker stack, and cries “Let's goooo!!” – and you remain in thrall to its pounding magnificence for nigh on six minutes. The opening bassline motif is pure jackin' magic, and when the insanely memorable, and ever so slightly unearthly “two by two, side by side” vocal hook enters the fray, all bets are off. These elements are the foundation stones around which assorted riffage is woven. There are few brews more potent on 2024 peak time dancefloors. Oh, and for long time fans of Dave's work, we reckon it's a bit like Buzzfuzzle meets The Mighty Ming, aided and abetted by a vocal reminiscent of Divine's classic Native Love. And if that doesn't whet your appetite enough to press play without delay, heaven knows what will. Team Selador – Two is the magic number x

Suzanne Morphew's death has been ruled a homicide by undetermined means. The toxicology report shows several drugs found in her system at the time of her death: Butorphanol, a synthetic opioid pain-killer, Azaperone, a sedative commonly used as a tranquilizer for pigs and elephants, and medetomidine, a sedative that can decrease an animal's heart rate, commonly used by veterinarians. According to a 2021 affidavit, Barry Morphew admitted to police that he frequently used BAM and other tranquilizers to sedate deer to remove antlers for his hunting business. However, BAM is the commonly used abbreviation for Butophanol, Azaperaone, and Medetomidine. Azaperone is used as a sedative for Elephants, Rhinoceros, and Giraffes, while Medetomidine facilitates immobilization of large carnivores and great apes. Police say in the recovery of Susanne Morphew's body, her favorite tee-shirt was pulled from the location. And in the past few days, it's reported that husband Barry Morphew quietly slipped into an invite-only memorial for his murdered wife. My guest today is theatrical animal trainer Bill Berloni. Beginning with the original production of ANNIE in 1977, Bill has provided and trained animals of all species and sizes for 27 Broadway musicals and plays, as well as for countless Off-Broadway shows, National Tours, regional theaters, movies, television shows, commercials and the NYC Ballet – and he found almost all of those animal actors in shelters, humane societies and rescue leagues. His awards include a 2011 Tony Honor for “Excellence in the Theater”, a 2014 Outer Critics Circle Award for “Special Achievement”, and a 2017 Drama League Award for “Unique Contribution to the Theatre” all in acknowledgment of an incredible Broadway career that has included two revivals of Annie, The Woman In White, Gypsy, Legally Blonde, The Lt of Inishmore, A Christmas Story, and The Ferryman. Bill recently released a third edition of his book, Broadway Tails: Heartfelt Stories Of Rescued Dogs Who Became Show Biz Superstars. This episode is for you if you identify as a perfectionist. Simply talking with Aga, the short version for Agnieszka about the concept of errorless learning has given me another way to look at perfectionism and how it can (often but not always) be unhelpful.Aga talks about training behaviors to fluency which is different from perfection, and about the benefits of playing by someone else's rules now and then, just to get you out of your comfort zone. She will have you completely rethink the idea of "just one more repetition" and "ending on a win".Not just that. What about extinction and frustration? Do we need frustration or can we skip it?Aga also blew my mind by giving me a way of looking at resilience completely differently. What if resilience, the ability to bounce back, isn't an innate trait? What if it simply amounts to having a big enough skillset to be able to handle errors? And since skills can be taught, what if you could teach resilience? Errorlessly? With minimal frustration? How does this apply to humans? How does she apply it in her personal life and her business? And of course, we chat about Agnieszka's new book, the Animal Trainer's Comprehensive Handbook.Listen to this episode multiple times. Along with her community, she has raised almost $50,000 for conservation!Contact Info:Kristyn Plancarte - Guestwww.kpassionate.com@KP_assionate (Instagram)KPassionate (YouTube)@k_passionate (TikTok)Julie Berman - Hostwww.womenwithcooljobs.com@womencooljobs (Instagram)Julie Berman (LinkedIn)
It's likely that you have watched some of the animals Mark Harden has trained. Do any of these titles ring a bell: Stuart Little, Hachiko, Dracula, Arachnophobia, or Pirates of the Caribbean? Mark takes us behind the scenes to show us the art of animal training and Hollywood production. How do you use makeup to make a dog look old? How do you keep a dog actor in perpetual puppyhood? How has CGI transformed animal acting in Hollywood? After forty years in the business, there isn't anything Mark doesn't know. Mark has trained many species, but he says dogs are special. They can learn complex behaviours and portray a range of emotions that most other animals simply cannot. During this conversation, Mark shares with us the life of a wild animal trainer who transitioned to working in Hollywood … who has embraced the occupational hazard of adopting dogs from the set. About Mark Harden Hollywood animal trainer Mark Harden has worked with and trained animals of all sizes and species, from elephants to ants. In a career spanning over four decades, he has trained animals to act on the sets of major blockbuster hits, like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story, Dennis the Menace, and Captain Marvel. He has been married to Lori since 1983. They have three children. Mark Harden IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0362103/ About Dog Podcast Network (DPN) DPN is the first of its kind. Today we're pulling back the curtain. Stay with us, come closer, lean in and join us in this raw, honest, and vulnerable discussion. We pride ourselves in our authenticity and ability to bare it all on The Animal That Changed You, but this is admittedly a difficult episode because we're facing the situation in real time. Because it's controversial. Because it deals with matters of the heart weighed against matters of the head.Jenny shares with Katya the very hard decision she is tasked with making: euthanizing and putting down a puppy who proved to be dangerous. Who proved to bring with him a situation that could not be managed or controlled. What we share today is the tough reality that many in animal welfare have to face daily, that too many still don't discuss. But we want to talk about it, about all of it - the guilt, the feeling like you've failed this animal, the shame, the relief, the strength, the crumbling, the peace. And we want to talk about it with you. It's an emotional episode no doubt, but we want you to know that we're here to hold space for anyone and everyone who has ever had to make an unfair choice about a life. You're not alone, and we're here to support you through our experiences, our coaching, our compassion, and our friendship. Let us know what you think. Let us know what you feel. Even if this conversation makes you angry, we want to hear from you and learn from you. Growing up in the United Kingdom, Will Elgar told his mom he was going to be either an astronaut, dolphin trainer or stunt man. Given the lack of cetaceans in the UK, working with dolphins seemed unlikely, but Will eventually found a way. It turns out that his real passion was working with and training sea lions, which led him to new opportunities and species around the world. Recently named as the director of Zoo Miami in 2021, Will discusses how learning to train animals with positive reinforcement to develop relationships based on mutual trust has informed his skills as a manager and coach. I have to say it's a surprisingly affecting book, and I was not expecting to be tearing up a many times as I did when I was reading the new edition in preparation for this podcast. On this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Brett Reynolds, Head Dog Trainer at The Dog Stop, a dog care facility offering daycare, boarding, grooming, training, and a retail store. Brett talks about the training services they provide and how the animal training industry, as well as training strategies and techniques, have changed over time. Brett explains common training mistakes dog owners make, why you might want to enroll your dog in an enrichment program rather than daycare, and his candid thoughts on how long it takes to train dogs. “Although there've been new discoveries, the way dogs learn hasn't changed.
