Steven Nigro explains why insurance M&A activity remains resilient even as broader financial stocks struggle. He breaks down steady valuations driven by private equity demand, consolidation among aging brokerages, and how AI is being adopted as a margin‑enhancing tool rather than a disruptive threat. The discussion highlights why the insurance sector may stay insulated from macro headwinds facing the broader financials space.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. Stephen Grootes speaks to Ben Magara, CEO of Exxaro Resources about their latest results, which reflect a resilient performance despite weaker coal prices, with headline earnings per share up 8% and revenue edging higher on disciplined cost management. The results come at a strategic inflection point for the group as it pivots beyond coal, highlighted by its R10.6 billion acquisition of a stake in the Tshipi Borwa manganese mine positioning Exxaro in a key energy transition mineral alongside continued investment in renewable energy through its Cennergi division. With a higher dividend and a shift in capital allocation, the focus now turns to execution, integrating new assets and driving growth in a more diversified portfolio. In other interviews, Thabile Nkunjana, Agricultural economist talks about the growing risks to global fertiliser markets and food security as conflict in the Middle East disrupts key supply routes and production hubs. With a significant share of the world’s fertiliser trade moving through the Strait of Hormuz, supply constraints are already pushing prices sharply higher particularly for nitrogen-based products like urea that are critical for crop yields. We look how rising input costs could filter through to farmers, squeeze margins, and ultimately impact food prices, especially in import-reliant countries like South Africa, where the knock-on effects could be felt across the entire agricultural value chain. This week on Fed Watch, ITR Economist and Speaker Connor Lokar steps in to unpack how markets are responding to the Fed Chair announcement and what the latest data means for rates, inflation, and demand. With bond yields holding steady and PMI surging to a multi-year high, a key business pain point remains front and center: meaningful rate relief still looks elusive. Connor explains why stable yields do not signal coming cuts, how rising new orders point to renewed demand pressure, and why the housing market faces a longer recovery timeline than many expect. What do these signals mean for your planning as we move deeper into 2026?
Holding firm to the Word is about staying anchored in truth when everything else shifts.
What things really matter? Today we read the 3 short chapters that make up the whole of Paul's powerful letter to Titus who is described as “my true child in a common faith.” [v.4] There is one “faith” which should be “common” to everyone; but the many parts of Christendom shows that is now far from the case.. The Apostle says, “I left you in Crete that you might put what remained into order” [1 v.5] His first step is to “appoint elders in every town” They must be married men of such a calibre that “his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.” [v.6] Obviously they are experienced older men. There follows a list of the qualities such elders must possess; “lovers of good, self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke them who contradict it.” [v.9]Sadly in Crete “there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party” [v.10] – that is, those with a Jewish heritage, they are “teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.” [v.11]Just as sadly, the effort to make money, sometimes a lot of money, out of practicing religion has been seen in every generation. Paul stresses that Christ “gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works”. Titus is told, “Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority.” [2 v.14,15]

Greek shipping remains steady while global markets show signs of fatigue. In this Athens edition of Inside the Markets from GMS Podcasts, host Jamie speaks with Ilias Stasinos, Trader at GMS Greece, about how owners are managing the balance between strong freight earnings and weaker recycling prices. Oil prices have fallen to around 60 dollars per barrel, freight indices have slipped, and steel markets remain uneven across the subcontinent. Despite that, Greek owners continue to keep their ships trading rather than recycling, with many expanding into Russian oil routes to capture stronger earnings. Key Discussion Points Freight and oil softness: how Greek owners are adjusting their trading strategies India: active market under currency and steel pressure, with rupee near 88.7 per dollar Pakistan: higher plate prices near 620 dollars per ton, but HKC certification still pending Bangladesh: limited activity despite 18 HKC-approved yards and more upgrades on the way Greece: why owners are focusing on trading opportunities over recycling in Q4 Market outlook: how geopolitics, currencies, and trade shifts may shape early 2026 From Athens to Alang and Gadani, the signal is clear. Owners are holding on to ships as long as trading income stays ahead of recycling prices, keeping tonnage supply thin as the year closes. This Reformed Rookie podcast episode delves into Titus 1:9, exploring the qualifications and responsibilities of church elders. The discussion centers on the crucial importance of elders holding firm to the trustworthy Word of God (πιστις - *pistis*), emphasizing not just intellectual understanding but also practical application in their lives and ministry. Elders must be characterized by sound doctrine, accurately teaching and applying Scripture, rebuking false teachings and promoting biblical truth. The podcast highlights the dangers of anecdotal preaching lacking contextual understanding and the necessity of confronting false teachers within the church. Pastor Anthony Uvenio contrasts the reliance on God's Word for counseling with secular approaches, emphasizing the inerrant and infallible nature of Scripture as the sole authority. The episode concludes with a discussion on the importance of orthopraxy alongside orthodoxy, and the need for elders to model a life of faith, reflecting God's character and actively combating heresy. A specific example of a false teacher's actions within a conference is used to illustrate the importance of confronting false teaching. The episode also touches upon differing interpretations of biblical terms, such as "porneia," and the importance of preaching biblical truth rather than tradition.00:03:37 - Elders' Devotion & Scripture00:07:52 - Establishing Elders & Doctrine07:45 - Biblical Inspiration & Trials11:14:02 - Trusting God & Doctrine14:52 - God's Word: Trustworthy & True18:35 - Instruction, Preaching & Truth22:30 - Sound Doctrine: Theology & Practice30:01 - Elder Qualifications & Rebuke34:15 - Rebuke, Heresy & Ministry Truth41:12 - Guard Your Heart; Avoid PridePodcast:www.ReformedRookie.comPodcast: https://anchor.fm/reformedrookieFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheReformedRookie Twitter: https://twitter.com/NYapologistSemper Reformanda!

In Episode 244, Mark & Steve address the betrayed partner of a porn/sex addict who submitted the following to PBSE—As a partner of an addict, what can I do to help my partner feel more supported during his recovery, so that he may feel more comfortable telling me the truth??? Time and time again, I have caught him in lies or omissions and it's eating away at the trust in our relationship. Most recently, we engaged in physical intimacy and I could tell IMMEDIATELY that he had been looking at porn that day. I can't explain it- I just knew. I felt used, like my body was simply a means to an end for him, like a masturbation device. So I asked my partner if he'd been hiding anything from me, and he came clean that he did in fact have some slips over the weekend. I have since made it clear, respectfully, that I do not wish to engage in intercourse while information about his sexual proclivities is being withheld from me. The main issue here is that during previous conversations, he has agreed to PROACTIVELY come to me when these slips happen so that I don't have to play detective anymore… but he has never followed through with that agreement, and he continues to wait around until I ask the perfect question. After this incident, my partner told me that he doesn't feel like he can come to me because I get really quiet when he talks about his slips and therefore I do not make him feel supported enough. If you have any suggestions or words of wisdom to share, I would greatly appreciate it so much. For Her:Take the time to truly explore your feelings, wants, and needs, and then come up with boundaries and attached consequences for each.Vulnerably share these with your partner, in whatever way is safest.Ensure that you are practicing healthy communication skills:When feeling anger or anger-related feelings (which are absolutely legitimate), be sure to express this in a way that also communicates the vulnerable primary emotions under the anger.Avoid toxicity in your dialogue (name-calling, sarcasm, mind-reading, etc.) and stay true to what is "authentic" to you.As safety allows, be very proactive in your expression of needs, as well as your thoughts and feelings. Hold FIRM boundaries and their accompanying consequences/outcomes. Recognize that you can't “make” anyone continue to feel or not feel anything. They choose which feelings to focus on and remain in.SURRENDER THE REST. IT'S ON HIM.For Him: An addict in sincere recovery will be making progressive efforts to:Practice true account-abilityAt a BASELINE, this means telling the WHOLE truth at ALL costs!Doing the hard work to not just share lapses/relapses, but to discover:What led up to the lapse/relapseWhat broke down on his endWhat specific changes will he make in future encounters with triggersSit in “Uncomfortable Places”Why are you responding the way you do your partner's reactions? How are you response-able for your actions & your responses? In what ways are you growing in your capacity to practice uncomfortable ownership and account-ability?As Addicts, WE CAUSED THIS. We may not be responsible for all of the circumstances that got us here in totality, but we ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE responsible for how we handle, show up for, and address "today." Lesson 12 - Live Worthy of the CallingHebrews 13:1-25. The author closes his letter with some final exhortations to the kind of holy living that will both help his readers stand firm in their faith and witness to those around them. In this last chapter, he speaks about life of love, purity and contentment that God desires. And he reminds his readers that God's grace will be with them as they follow Christ, no matter where He leads.
Lesson 11 - Life as A Beloved Child of GodHebrews 12:5-29. Running the race marked out for us won't always be easy, as the readers of the letter to the Hebrews were discovering. It requires effort, focus and discipline. But God's training program for His children is marked by a love and wisdom no earthly parent could provide; and it leads to the holiness without which no man can see God.
