Greek shipping remains steady while global markets show signs of fatigue. In this Athens edition of Inside the Markets from GMS Podcasts, host Jamie speaks with Ilias Stasinos, Trader at GMS Greece, about how owners are managing the balance between strong freight earnings and weaker recycling prices. Oil prices have fallen to around 60 dollars per barrel, freight indices have slipped, and steel markets remain uneven across the subcontinent. Despite that, Greek owners continue to keep their ships trading rather than recycling, with many expanding into Russian oil routes to capture stronger earnings. Key Discussion Points Freight and oil softness: how Greek owners are adjusting their trading strategies India: active market under currency and steel pressure, with rupee near 88.7 per dollar Pakistan: higher plate prices near 620 dollars per ton, but HKC certification still pending Bangladesh: limited activity despite 18 HKC-approved yards and more upgrades on the way Greece: why owners are focusing on trading opportunities over recycling in Q4 Market outlook: how geopolitics, currencies, and trade shifts may shape early 2026 From Athens to Alang and Gadani, the signal is clear. Owners are holding on to ships as long as trading income stays ahead of recycling prices, keeping tonnage supply thin as the year closes. AP Washington correspondent Sagar Meghani reports a Senate bid to end the government shutdown hours after it started has failed.
European markets closed higher yesterday, buoyed by strong performances in the healthcare and luxury sectors. In the US, concerns over a potential government shutdown failed to dampen investor sentiment, as a rebound in AI-related stocks helped support equity markets. Beyond market movements, President Trump unveiled a proposed plan to address the conflict in Gaza, alongside announcing a new wave of tariffs targeting a wide range of goods from films to furniture. In commodities, gold continues its impressive rally, reaching yet another record high. Meanwhile, oil prices declined sharply amid expectations that OPEC+ may increase output in November. This Reformed Rookie podcast episode delves into Titus 1:9, exploring the qualifications and responsibilities of church elders. The discussion centers on the crucial importance of elders holding firm to the trustworthy Word of God (πιστις - *pistis*), emphasizing not just intellectual understanding but also practical application in their lives and ministry. Elders must be characterized by sound doctrine, accurately teaching and applying Scripture, rebuking false teachings and promoting biblical truth. The podcast highlights the dangers of anecdotal preaching lacking contextual understanding and the necessity of confronting false teachers within the church. Pastor Anthony Uvenio contrasts the reliance on God's Word for counseling with secular approaches, emphasizing the inerrant and infallible nature of Scripture as the sole authority. The episode concludes with a discussion on the importance of orthopraxy alongside orthodoxy, and the need for elders to model a life of faith, reflecting God's character and actively combating heresy. A specific example of a false teacher's actions within a conference is used to illustrate the importance of confronting false teaching. The episode also touches upon differing interpretations of biblical terms, such as "porneia," and the importance of preaching biblical truth rather than tradition.00:03:37 - Elders' Devotion & Scripture00:07:52 - Establishing Elders & Doctrine07:45 - Biblical Inspiration & Trials11:14:02 - Trusting God & Doctrine14:52 - God's Word: Trustworthy & True18:35 - Instruction, Preaching & Truth22:30 - Sound Doctrine: Theology & Practice30:01 - Elder Qualifications & Rebuke34:15 - Rebuke, Heresy & Ministry Truth41:12 - Guard Your Heart; Avoid PridePodcast:www.ReformedRookie.comPodcast: https://anchor.fm/reformedrookieFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheReformedRookie Twitter: https://twitter.com/NYapologistSemper Reformanda!
In a stunning revelation, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessette cites a Vanguard stat showing that 97% of individual investors held their positions during a recent market downturn, resisting what some allege was a coordinated sell-off by institutional investors aimed at undermining Donald Trump. This episode explores the growing divide between Main Street and Wall Street, the political implications, and the resilience of everyday Americans who still place their trust in Trump's economic vision.

This week, we examine Australia's latest soft GDP figures. The headline number is a weak 0.3% quarterly expansion, the lowest rate of annual growth since the pandemic with private sector demand contributing nothing to this meager growth figure. Will the RBA stay the course with rates on hold in the face of a deepening per capita recession and falling living standards? We also look at what's driving Australia's poor economic performance relative to other OECD nations. In Episode 244, Mark & Steve address the betrayed partner of a porn/sex addict who submitted the following to PBSE—As a partner of an addict, what can I do to help my partner feel more supported during his recovery, so that he may feel more comfortable telling me the truth??? Time and time again, I have caught him in lies or omissions and it's eating away at the trust in our relationship. Most recently, we engaged in physical intimacy and I could tell IMMEDIATELY that he had been looking at porn that day. I can't explain it- I just knew. I felt used, like my body was simply a means to an end for him, like a masturbation device. So I asked my partner if he'd been hiding anything from me, and he came clean that he did in fact have some slips over the weekend. I have since made it clear, respectfully, that I do not wish to engage in intercourse while information about his sexual proclivities is being withheld from me. The main issue here is that during previous conversations, he has agreed to PROACTIVELY come to me when these slips happen so that I don't have to play detective anymore… but he has never followed through with that agreement, and he continues to wait around until I ask the perfect question. After this incident, my partner told me that he doesn't feel like he can come to me because I get really quiet when he talks about his slips and therefore I do not make him feel supported enough. If you have any suggestions or words of wisdom to share, I would greatly appreciate it so much. For Her:Take the time to truly explore your feelings, wants, and needs, and then come up with boundaries and attached consequences for each.Vulnerably share these with your partner, in whatever way is safest.Ensure that you are practicing healthy communication skills:When feeling anger or anger-related feelings (which are absolutely legitimate), be sure to express this in a way that also communicates the vulnerable primary emotions under the anger.Avoid toxicity in your dialogue (name-calling, sarcasm, mind-reading, etc.) and stay true to what is "authentic" to you.As safety allows, be very proactive in your expression of needs, as well as your thoughts and feelings. Hold FIRM boundaries and their accompanying consequences/outcomes. Recognize that you can't “make” anyone continue to feel or not feel anything. They choose which feelings to focus on and remain in.SURRENDER THE REST. IT'S ON HIM.For Him: An addict in sincere recovery will be making progressive efforts to:Practice true account-abilityAt a BASELINE, this means telling the WHOLE truth at ALL costs!Doing the hard work to not just share lapses/relapses, but to discover:What led up to the lapse/relapseWhat broke down on his endWhat specific changes will he make in future encounters with triggersSit in “Uncomfortable Places”Why are you responding the way you do your partner's reactions? How are you response-able for your actions & your responses? In what ways are you growing in your capacity to practice uncomfortable ownership and account-ability?As Addicts, WE CAUSED THIS. Lesson 12 - Live Worthy of the CallingHebrews 13:1-25. The author closes his letter with some final exhortations to the kind of holy living that will both help his readers stand firm in their faith and witness to those around them. In this last chapter, he speaks about life of love, purity and contentment that God desires. And he reminds his readers that God's grace will be with them as they follow Christ, no matter where He leads.
Lesson 11 - Life as A Beloved Child of GodHebrews 12:5-29. Running the race marked out for us won't always be easy, as the readers of the letter to the Hebrews were discovering. It requires effort, focus and discipline. But God's training program for His children is marked by a love and wisdom no earthly parent could provide; and it leads to the holiness without which no man can see God.
Lesson 10 - Endure Looking to Him Who Is InvisibleHebrews 11:20-12:4. The roll call of heroes continues in the rest of Hebrews 11. From patriarchs like Isaac, Jacob and Joseph to prophets like Moses, Elijah, Elisha and Daniel…from once-timid judges like Gideon and Barak to a pagan woman who believed and became part of the bloodline of Christ. The Old Testament believers who walked by faith in a promise that was not fulfilled in their lifetime, encourage us to keep on believing and to run with patience the race set before us.

Lesson 9 - Those Who Walked By FaithHebrews 11:1-19. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a real-life, flesh-and-blood example is priceless when it comes to living by faith. In chapter 11 the author reminds his readers of those who have gone before, walking with eyes of faith and hearts set on the promises of God yet to be revealed. Will they embrace their examples and hold firm in their own trials too?

Lesson 8 - The Way into God's Presence has been OpenedHebrews 10:1-39. Today's lesson marks a turning point in the letter to the Hebrews. The writer compares the many offerings made by the Temple priests with the single sacrifice made by Christ on the cross and all that accomplished. He goes on to challenge them with just what it looks like to trust in Jesus — and what it would mean to reject Him.
Listen, Learn, Live.
Lesson 7 - A Better SacrificeHebrews 9:5-28. The writer discusses one of the most holy days in the Jewish calendar — the Day of Atonement. His readers would have felt deep cultural and religious ties to all the beautiful and meaningful events of that day. But even that most holy day could not do what Christ had done for them. Would they finally see the differences? Would they finally be able to live in the reality instead of just the shadows?
Lesson 6 - The Perfect for the ImperfectHebrews 7:20—9:5. After comparing Christ's ministry with that of the Levitical priests, the writer of Hebrews then began to compare the new covenant mediated by Christ with the old imperfect one. The old covenant based on the law was something that had governed the Jewish people's lives for centuries and it was something they struggled to let go of. If everything they thought fixed forever had been superseded by something new — even if it was better and more sure — what were they to do?
Lesson 5 - Lessons from the Past Hebrews 6:13 — 7:19. Two Old Testament characters play major roles in this week's lesson. Abraham — father of the Jewish nation — who showed faith and endurance waiting for God's promise to be fulfilled. And Melchizedek — the somewhat mysterious King-Priest who received tithes from Abraham and blessed him. What do the readers of the letter need to learn from these men — and what difference will it make in their suffering?
Lesson 4 - Jesus Our ExampleHebrews 5:1 — 6:12. From continuing descriptions of Christ as God's chosen High Priest, the writer highlights Christ's obedience in the midst of His sufferings and the salvation it brought us. He urged these Hebrew believers to follow His example and yield to God's will, whether their circumstances changed or not. He encouraged them to embrace all the truths about Christ — not just the comfortable ones. And then he began to speak about those who had apparently fallen away from the belief in Christ they once professed.
Lesson 3 - Don't Make the Mistake of Turning AwayHebrews 3:16-4:16. The Hebrew believers were much like the Israelites after the Exodus. Set free from slavery to sin in Christ, they faltered when things got difficult and were considering a return to the way things were before He set them free. They were facing the same issue and the same danger as their ancestors: Would they trust God's faithfulness going forward or would they turn away for the sake of temporary relief?
Lesson 2 - God Becomes One of UsHebrews 2:5-3:19. In this week's lesson, the writer continues to remind his readers just Who Christ is — He is God Himself, come in the flesh to identify with His fallen creatures and set them free. And in demonstrating that He was greater than even Moses, the writer pulls no punches: If Christ is who He says He is, why are you turning away from Him?
Lesson 1 - Christ, Greater than the AngelsHebrews 1:1—2:5. The book of Hebrews was written to a heavily persecuted group of believers who were considering returning to their Jewish roots in order to escape suffering for Christ. In this letter the unknown writer reminds them Who they have believed in why He is worthy of their trust and devotion.
