In this episode, we share with listeners one of our "I Believe in Love" Book Study discussions, centered on the Eucharist! We regularly lead studies on this book and in many ways, its a book that changed our lives. We believe that the words of Fr d'Elbee, rooted in the spirituality of St Therese of Lisieux, will be a blessing to you! We begin my looking at the words of Fr d'Elbee, "Give Him the joy of descending upon your heart, which is a heaven for Him!" In our show, we focus a lot on OUR encounter with Christ in the Eucharist. Yet, in communion, God desires not only that we encounter Him, but He also desires to encounter us! Not only does He dwell in us, but in the Eucharist, Christ becomes one with us! What are the implications of this profound mystery? How should it shape the way we live our lives and how we prepare our hearts for Mass? What does it reveal about God's great love for us? In our walk with the Lord, we can be tempted to take pride in what we see as "our own accomplishements." We may not realize it or admit it, but it is easy to sucumb to. We can also give into discouragement when we believe ourselves to not be living up to our own standards (or the standards of others). Our "I Believe in Love" book study launches November 29, 2022 on Suscipe.co. We thought it would be great to offer another preview of some of the discussions! Please enjoy this clip from Chapter 3, where we discuss how St Therese's "Little Way" is a better, and more sure approach to the temptations toward pride on one hand, and discouragement on the other. Non-Stop Rock Talk is joined by Canadian solo artist Tommy Grasley aka TOMMYGUNN to discuss his latest album I Believe In Love, the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Tommy meeting Deep Purple. Sit back, stay safe and enjoy!!!
#NiagaraRocks Original MusicSinger, songwriter, recording artist and producer TOMMY GRASLEY aka TOMMYGUNN grew up in a steel town in Canada. His musical journey started as a young boy drawing on the influence of a successful musically inspired family. His father, Sonny Del Rio (Saxophone) was in CROWBAR with Kelly Jay and King Biscuit Boy (aka Richard Newell) and received a Queens Jubilee award for excellence. On Tommy's mother's side (the Stewarts), Rod Stewart is his cousin. Life for Tommy however, as a son of a musician, was tough. Feast or famine. He remembers eating bagels for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the flip side ... his home was loving, creative and musical. It didn't last long, however. His family broke up. Tommy spent the next 15 years fighting his way through life with anger, fists, vengeance, drugs and alcohol. At 33, Tommy turned his life around. He dealt with his demons. Raised a family of his own. In 2007 it was his turn. He wrote his first album UNLEASH THE HOUNDS which charted #7 in Australia and had success in the U.K. Tommy has put his past behind him. Created a more positive life for himself. He is all about the love. His album, I BELIEVE IN LOVE reflects the world around him. It tells the story of his life moving from hate to love. It was released in 2020. Tommy had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best artists in Rock n' Roll - Eddie Kramer (Beatles, Led Zeppelin , Jimi Hendrix ...), Dale Harrison (Headstones), Greg Godovitz (Goddo); Kim DesChamps (Blue Rodeo), and more. TOMMYGUNN has emerged. Everyone loves Disco and Bargrooves is proud to present an unrivalled selection of the very best current and classic Disco and Disco-influenced House music from around the globe. Featuring cuts from the likes of Hercules & The Love Affair, Tensnake, Lovebirds and Jacques Renault, as well as previously unreleased material from Arthur Baker, Chasing Kurt and a sensational debut cut from Christopé and DJ Die’s Sure Thing project feature alongside some real gems from Candi Staton, Sister Sledge, Classixx and Freeform Five - making Bargrooves Disco the ultimate modern disco collection. In addition to the 30 unmixed and carefully complied tracks, Bargrooves Disco also includes two exclusive mixes from Bargooves' master curator and international DJ Andy Daniell; one re-establishing the seminal classics and the other, a collection of more contemporary tracks. Highlights include nu-disco champion Tensnake’s incredible remix of Hercules & Love Affair’s ‘My House’; a meeting of two pillars of modern disco that does nothing to disappoint. Elsewhere, the ultimate purveyor of the choicest disco cuts, Dimitri From Paris, reworks Sister Sledges’ inimitable ‘Thinking of You’, whilst Candi Staton’s ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ is left untouched to speak for itself; the ultimate modern classic from one of disco’s bonafide legends. Another noteworthy inclusion is from Melbourne’s master of the disco re-work, Late Nite Tuff Guy and his ‘Let Her Go’ Remix of The Tailors ‘Overdue’ featuring the sublime vocals of Ashibah. Its timeless disco sound, coupled with its flawless production makes it one of the standout cuts of this collection. And finally of course, no aficionado of the disco scene could ignore Jacques Renault’s reworking of Midnight Magic’s ‘Beam Me Up’; the cornerstone of any discerning disco jock’s set list. Representing the more modern strain of disco-influenced house are offerings from DJ Gregory, Kaine feat. Kathy Diamond and Alena. In the same category is Boe & Zak’s soaringly beautiful, disco-sampling ‘Looking For Love’ which we think is nothing short of a masterpiece. The same can be said of the Eton Messy-endorsed Lovebirds edit of Chasing Kurt’s vocal anthem ‘From The Inside’, soon to be released on Defected Records and set to be around well into the Summer. Making this collection even more indispensable is the inclusion of two more previously unreleased exclusives. Featuring the unique vocal talent of Jimmy Somerville, with the premiere of a new edit of the 80’s classic ‘I Believe In Love’ from American production legend Arthur Baker, with its hi-energy tactics is sure fire ammunition for any disco ‘floor. Likewise the eagerly anticipated ‘Holding You Tight’ by the effortlessly chic Sure Thing brings its infectious groove and stylised lyrical hook, will be sure to get the mirror balls turning. Representing a wide variety of both classic and contemporary sounds and at a very sensible price, Bargrooves Disco is the seminal disco collection for both the discerning clubber and DJ enthusiast alike.
