There has been talk, including on this very program, that 2021 has not had games. I would wholeheartedly disagree on that front. We've had a ton of games and a ton of them have been quite good. I would even go so far as to say that some of them would be shoe-in for game of the year even in years like 2017 which is an outrageous amount of great games. But this year has also had some games that wouldn't nearly make a top 10 list for some people but are fun little diamonds in the rough. I think I talked about one little gem just last week in Trigger Witch and am currently playing another. The guys took last week off because they couldn't coordinate, and it was also Thanksgiving weekend for three out of four of them. So this week, they kind of ended up with a lot to talk about from Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor's ingenious Nemesis system, anime aesthetics in Dust: An Elysian Tail, how The Walking Dead has gotten better (maybe? We'll take Braden's word on it), and dissecting the new Devin Townsend record.

When all you have is games, everything looks like a way to spend moneyIt's October, which you can tell by the leaves turning color, and the NFR team staring down bank loans as EVERYTHING is coming out. In fact, the oldest full game discussion in New Business is for a game released on September 26. Stephen opens with the PS4 version of Dust: An Elysian Tail, which brings its unique art style and Microsoft-published characters to Sony for the first time, before puzzling through another cross-platform PS+ freebie in Pix the Cat, once described as "Snake means Chu Chu Rocket on acid". But his main event is extensive discussion of pretty much everything in Smash Bros 4 (3DS). Donald is worrying about releases to come as he ripped through the Bayonetta 2 demo in order to "git gud", and took his frustrations out on that by bombing some Dodongos and other things in major league 2014 GOTYC Hyrule Warriors. Austen has some big AAA games to round out, hitting wife simulator Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor, the creepy and kooky Alien: Isolation, and... Sherlock Holmes, Crimes and Punishments? Yes, it's still valid.Since New Business was so long, that clearly doesn't leave much time for Whatcha Watchin', so it boils down to three things: Wakfu, Attack on Titan (all of S1 spoiled) and the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. There's a brief plug for a couple of things to be mentioned below, and then the Mushrooms as Donald clearly doesn't understand the point of these things, Austen is pleased by Sony paying off an E3 tease, and Stephen provides some nice trivia questions.The first thing to mention is that next episode is a very special "Ask Donald Anything" feature, and we want ANYTHING you want to know about Donald that doesn't involve the three taboos. Sadly CE Lowe did not join the guys for this episode. Although, they are graced by another man: Malcolm Rodgers. Meticulous is a word that can be described about Dust: An Elysian Tail. The history behind this game has quite the struggle and not to mention the heart behind it. Back in 2009, Dean DoDrill set out to create a “metroidvania” game with anthropomorphic characters that have a Don Bluth appeal to them. This game proves one does not need a corporation to produce a memorable game. In short:the guys agree. On top of the featured discussion, Josh advances into the next generation with his trusty PS4.
