A little late on the upload, but Mario and Andy are back for their #9 games. First, they recap the Oscars and maybe moan a bit about the state of film criticism. Then, they review Lady Gaga's new album "Mayhem", talk some more about Obsidian's "Avowed", and Mario shares his thoughts on Tape 1 of Don't Nod's new episodic game "Lost Records" for the director of the original Life is Strange. From there, Andy finally gets to talk about his most anticipated film of 2024 AND 2025 with Bong-Joon Ho's "Mickey 17". Andy then talks about his number 9, the latest 3D platformer in the Mario series "Super Mario Odyssey" while Mario talks about his number 9, another lost game in 2K's "Spec Ops: The Line". Music Credits: DJ Shadow - Rocket Fuel, Lady Gaga - Disease, Dan Deacon - Feel the Lightning, Lauren Mayberry - Something in the Air

He has also worked with clients such as Huawei and is also a player of the Egyptian oud, which is similar to a lute. In this episode, we talk about Kian's start in Boston and how he ended up moving to China after college, the truth of what a sound designer does in their job, the importance of learning new skills for fun, and so much more. I will NOT be wearing an Apple Vision Pro during a taping of this podcast, because I'm not buying it. This version, at least. I visited a new pinball arcade in Atlanta, and noticing a new trend in "Eatertainment" venues to bring back Third Spaces to society. Retailers are starting to drop physical releases, which means that game preservation is going to become much more difficult as time goes on for modern day titles. Spec Ops: The Line is an impactful military shooter that wasn't a commercial success, but now you can't buy it anymore as it has been delisted on all the digital storefronts. (Since it has a physical release, you can still buy a copy used, though!) Then we take some time to talk about Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Persona 3 Reload, since OLR was not happening due to a power outage.

A new State of Play presentation -- arguably the best Sony has ever executed -- has given us a plethora of items to discuss on this week's all-new episode of Sacred Symbols. For starters, we finally have a release date for the amazing-looking second party PS5 exclusive action-RPG Stellar Blade, which we cannot wait to play. We also got a lengthy glimpse at Team Ninja's Rise of the Ronin, confirmation of a near-remake of Until Dawn from Ballistic Moon, a fresh look at Death Stranding 2 en route to PS5 in 2025, and the confirmation of a new, MGS-like Kojima series, presumably on PlayStation 6 (!). And there's lots of other news, too, including the first details concerning Firesprite's upcoming title, Project Heartbreak. Likewise, MLB: The Show 24 and Horizon: Forbidden West's PC port have both been dated, obscure PlayStation vehicular combat game Hardware Rivals may be returning, classic shooter Spec Ops: The Line has been delisted, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is driving people insane, leaks indicate we'll be playing Xbox 'exclusives' on PlayStation very soon, and much more. Finally: Listener inquiries! Are recent rumors of a new Sony handheld to be believed? Have Battle Passes ruined online gaming forever? Is cross-media the future no matter how much it's resisted? Hello All! Another week, another rant, but not as heated. As you can tell by the title its about Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, and boy am I not happy. We also had a state of play from Sony, Microsoft gutted Blizzard, and Mass Effect is headed to Destiny. Meanwhile The Thunderbolts loses several stars, Supergirl is found, Denis Villeneuve has plans for Dune 3. Also, there was an issue with my microphone this week, so that will explain the poor audio quality.

"Orders ain't worth following if it means leaving people to die, Lugo." Spec Ops: The Line is a third-person shooter video game developed by Yager Development and published by 2K Games. It is the eighth installment of the classic series. Spec Ops: The Line was released on June 26, 2012 in North America and on June 29, 2012 in Europe. The Line is the continuation of the Spec Ops series, although it does not share any story elements with its namesake. Instead, the game follows Captain Martin Walker as he is sent into a post-catastrophe Dubai with an elite Delta Force team on a reconnaissance mission, where they find dead American Soldiers. Upon the finding, Walker declares that the team's mission has changed, and that they will search Dubai for survivors. While lead writer Walt Williams has stated that there are many influences, the premise is primarily inspired by Joseph Conrad's novella Heart of Darkness (along with Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam-set adaptation of the novella, Apocalypse Now), with Konrad replacing Kurtz. The game received generally positive reviews. Praise focused on the narrative and its themes, while criticism was focused at it's online multiplayer mode and the generic third person gameplay. Episode 90 - Spec Ops - The Line by Bullet Points

The first ever patron poll episode is here! In January my patrons voted on a game I should cover on the show and the winner was Spec Ops: The Line! I'm joined by Dave Jackson of Tales From the Backlog to discuss this game that features an incredibly morally ambiguous narrative. There are a lot of spoilers in this one but it is still well worth listening to.
