Welcome back listeners! Time for something just a little bit different, a slight step from my normal path of talking about board games and into the realm of video games. Before I dive deep into different genres and the variety of games available to try, please join me as I take a walk down memory lane to discuss how I became an avid gamer and how video games shaped my life. Then follow me as I stroll through the warring realm of KINGDOMS OF AMALUR: RECKONING, creating our own unique characters and fighting off creatures of all shapes and sizes. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.

The Jason Schreier "Press Reset" special goes on and continues to feature interviews with people from the book. “Press Reset” details the stories of game development studio closures and how it affected the people behind some of gaming's biggest titles to date. This time I am joined by Joe Quadara, the former lead combat designer at Big Huge Games on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Justin and Derek sit down to talk about the widely-forgotten Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning, being given new life under a different publisher as Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning. How does it stack up against modern standards?
We've had some more time with the remaster of a TGI Year 1 favourite, Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. Afterwards, we jump into most of the next generation console news from the past week. This includes a confirmation of the Xbox Series X pricing, with Xbox All Access moving to 12 additional countries. PlayStation 5 had a huge news dump (both on stream and off), with pricing, release date, launch games, and much MUCH more!
See why narrative is so essential to gaming as seen from Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Hey guys, welcome back to the podcast. So what I want to do today is I just want to talk to you about kingdoms, Alomar and such what a big deal it is. This game was cutting edge just came out at the wrong time on the original Xbox. And I really am excited for the new kingdoms LMR game that is being released, because there is so much potential there. In regards to narrative, this was one of the best narrative games I've ever seen. And when it comes to narrative gaming is really getting there. I think you look at gaming from an art perspective. And gaming does a great job in regards to art, and really upping the platform there, but narratives kind of where gaming's true art is at right now. And it's more accepted. And the writing involved in gaming and kingdoms and alamar is based upon a novel novelist, writing and true author. So this is just going to add more platform to next gen gaming as we get to that point. And there's a lot that can be set here when it comes to gaming and making sure that we're heading down those paths that are going to help the future of gaming and the worldwide acceptance of it. Because there's still a cultural stigma to a certain point. And we want to make sure we get rid of those stigmas in order to further the capabilities of what gaming will be able to accomplish in the future. Whether it's learning or literature or art or cultural acceptance, it there's a lot that can be achieved here. kingdoms and alamar is one of those games that prides itself on its narrative, and its authorship and its use of words, which is more important than ever in gaming. That is why I'm so incredibly excited that they are releasing a kingdoms alamar game this fall, because that is exactly what is needed. And it came in at the wrong time. There are a lot of big releases originally, that company went bankrupt. And now it's been decided to release it at the right time, basically right for next gen where there's kind of a role. And I think it's going to be a huge success, because not a lot of people knew about it. And it was a phenomenal game with hundreds of hours of gameplay and great narrative. And this should, from a graphical perspective translate very well. Because just a few updates and graphics is all it should take. It didn't have bad graphics back in the day, which is great news. So I think this is going to be kind of the hidden gem, this fall, kingdoms and alamar will kind of overtake this period of time and gaming. For the next month. You just watch Mark my words, this is what's going to happen. And it's going to be very good for the future of gaming. As always guys, please make sure you click subscribe to this podcast for your future of gaming information. And there'll be a lot more coming in regards to Game Theory. So I will talk to you guys later and I hope you have an awesome day. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nextgengame/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nextgengame/support
We are excited about another video game scheduled for release this September. THQ Nordic is bringing an old hidden gem of a game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning back as KoA Re-Reckoning. This game is a complete remaster, with improved graphics and modernized gameplay mechanics. Evan has good memories of buying this game for cheap (like $4) and really being immersed in the world's story and its characters. If you like lore-heavy RPGs, you're probably going to like this game. Here in America, a cop's murder of an unarmed black man has temporarily torn our society asunder. It's caused peaceful mass protests around the country, and the situation has occasionally fallen into outright rioting and looting as well. In other words, we're experiencing a period of substantial unrest. That unrest has naturally transferred its way into the World of PlayStation, where Sony's much-awaited reveal event for some first (and second and third) party PS5 games was delayed out of respect for the moment. With that, we're left to speculate about what Sony's plan is, and when this event might take place in the (hopefully) near future. It hasn't stopped PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan from talking extensively about his company's plans for the console, though, and so we've much to discuss. Plus: More news! Konami is silently creeping back into the publishing game, Paradox Interactive is now officially a union shop, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is making a welcome comeback, Hideo Kojima vaguely talks about his next project, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Should Sony attempt to bring EA's BioWare into its own first party fold? Is it time for Twisted Metal to make a comeback? How much better can sport sims become? Is it psychotic to buy the Pop-Tarts without frosting? Well... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
