Welcome to the first of our winemaker episodes! This week Elena Martinez of TOP Winery joins Shaughn and Ellen to share the wine she and her husband Stanley Barrios make in Paso Robles. Before getting into her wine, its the return of Grape of Thrones! This week it is Blaufrankisch. Learn about this grape that excels in Austria.Elena kicks the drinking off with their 2015 Syrah, "Exert". It is ever so juicilicious, as is the story of how Elena and Stanley got started in wine. It was a major switch of careers for them. The job includes drinking sure, but they get hands (and feet) on! Elena also brought the 2016 "Exert" GSM blend. She claimed it still had bottle-shock but it impressed, even at its infancy. Even Zig got in on it. Discussions of how it will age involve acid and caramel. Drugs and sugar. Good stuff.Better than that is Elena's answer to "whats bringing you joy". Tune in! Well, it's actually late January, but in December the IMPRV News team brought back some of the guests who made 2016 a great year for the show to find out what's been happening in their lives since their last appearance! In this Part 1 of the 2 part Year End Special, 8 year old high school freshman and avowed Satanist Lucy Andrews stages a coup, Tiff brings her werewolf lovechild to meet the news team, and Barry the Beached Whale returns with his new lawyer Pierce Pearce!
It's Thursday morning at 8 am and you know what that means! It's time to get the latest in headline news from renowned reporters Bryant Willis, Tanya Fleetwater, and Fabian von Heezil, who go behind the scenes to get unique insights into the weeks' most interesting under reported stories. This week guest Elena Martinez is in studio to help Willis and Fleetwater investigate a uniquely sensual new coffee shop in London and explore the Satanic Temple's new mission to start clubs at elementary schools. Plus, Elena sends von Heezil to the International District and Tanya considers another new religion.

Her affinity for Latin countries and their corresponding cuisines grew stronger as she spent time in these foreign spaces. Upon returning to the United States, Martinez became a leading freelance travel, food, and lifestyle writer, contributing to print publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, Boston Globe, Miami Herald, W, Women’s Adventure, and websites like The Daily Meal, Conde Nast Traveler, Fodors.com, Jetsetter.com, and Men’s Fitness.
