Convicted on terrorism-related charges in 2004 during the Second Intifada, Marwan Barghouti is serving a life sentence in Israeli prison. However, his name continues to surface in negotiations over prisoner exchanges, and President Donald Trump has also mentioned that Barghouti's case was brought to his attention. This is because Barghouti is by far the most popular Palestinian political figure today, at a time when his people are desperate for unifying leadership. In this episode, the scholar Khaled Elgindy of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft discusses Barghouti's life story, which traces the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Can you believe it? The Camerosity Podcast is back with Episode 100! From what started out as a spontaneous Zoom call on a random May evening during the midst of a global pandemic has turned into one of the most popular and still only open source film and digital photography podcasts! While the hosts have changed since we started, its not really the hosts that make this show what it is, it is the guests and callers we have each episode which keep us on our toes with new and interesting topics. For our centennial episode, the hosts sent out invites to some of our favorite guests and also kept the call in lines open for anyone to join us. We received responses from Todd Gustavson from the George Eastman House, Dan Tamarkin from Tamarkin Camera and Auctions in Chicago, Marwan El Mozayen from Silvergrain Classics, Robert Rotoloni from the Nikon Historical Society, and returning for the first time in 50 episodes, Johnny Sisson from Central Camera in Chicago. Joining these esteemed guests were callers A.J. Gentile, Alex Luyckx, Eric Risse, Greg McCreash, Nick Marshall, Pat Casey, Patrick Rapps, Wayne Scheipers, Will Pinkham, and William Ponder. It was a star studded cast if I ever saw one! We get things started out with Marwan giving us an update on the all new Widelux-X panoramic camera prototype and where there at in its ultimate release. While we don't expect to see the new model this year, its release is coming soon! Todd chimes in with updates from the George Eastman House and what's new in their collection. He shares what he knows about Eastman Kodak's recent announcement of them distributing their own film again and the new Kodak 100 and 200 films and a project to document the most important historical cameras in history. Dan Tamarkin discusses getting married and the upcoming Tamarkin Camera Auction and gives us a preview of a couple cool Leicas which will appear in the show. Robert gives an update on the state of the NHS Journey and Alex shares what he's working on for his site and an upcoming review of EFKE KB50 film. Johnny Sisson is back at Central Camera and he shares some updates about what's going on there and what's new in his life. While we don't expect to see Johnny resuming his hosting responsibilities, he should be more present in the camera collector community. In addition to the guests already mentioned, other callers chime in with their favorite developers for black and white film, Will Pinkham opens Pandora's Box by asking for recommendations for a good rangefinder to use, and Mike shares his thoughts on the Nikon S3 re-release from 2000 and William Ponder shares his love for the Welta Weltini. As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you! Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show. We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. As we hit this milestone 100th episode, we are taking a short break before our next recording. As of this post, we don't yet have a date or a topic for Episode 101, but rest assured, once we know, it will be communicated via the normal channels! Oral Arguments for the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit
Marwan Mahajni v. Vu Do
One of the names floated as a potential leader of a future Palestinian state is Marwan Barghouti . A 67 year old currently in Israeli jail following convictions including for murder and membership of a terrorist organisation. But who is Barghouti and why are so many calling for his release? Pat asked Fawaz Gerges, Professor of International Relations, London School of Economics and Political Science.
The future of Palestinian leadership remains unclear as the current Palestinian Authority leader, Mahmoud Abbas, remains unpopular and heavily criticised. One candidate for leadership is Marwan Barghouti, who has been described as a Nelson Mandela-like leader for Palestine. However, he has been imprisoned in Israel since 2004, facing ill-treatment and torture. Wire Host Caeden spoke to Professor Amin Saikal, Middle East Analyst at Australian National University, about Marwan Barghouti and the broader leadership crisis in Palestine.

Marwan shares his past experiences with unsustainable fad diets, like the "Extreme Fat Loss Diet," and contrasts them with sustainable habits that prioritize balance over deprivation.Marwan emphasizes that sustainable fat loss comes from building habits like eating protein-first meals with vegetables to stay full, reducing reliance on processed foods, and tracking calories initially to understand food's impact. He advocates walking as an accessible, low-impact way to start physical activity, noting its mental health benefits in reducing stress and boredom-driven overeating. By avoiding restrictive "I can't" mindsets, Marwan encourages men to focus on small, consistent changes that naturally lead to fat loss without feeling oppressive, fostering a lifestyle you can maintain long-term.Key Takeaways:Sustainable Health Over Fad Diets: Avoid extreme diets like 75 Hard; focus on habits you can maintain, like protein-first meals and walking.Protein and Veggies First: Eat protein and vegetables to stay full, naturally reducing overeating without restrictive rules.Track Calories Initially: Use apps to track calories for a few months to learn how food affects your body, then eat intuitively.Walking for Body and Mind: Start with walking; park farther, take stairs, or schedule walks; to boost physical and mental health.Actionable Step: Eat protein (like eggs or chicken) and vegetables with every meal to stay full and reduce processed food intake.“Load up on protein and veggies first, and you'll naturally eat less of the other stuff without feeling restricted.” - Marwan KilluLearn more about Tim through the following links:FacebookPodcasting group
A UN commission investigating the Gaza war has concluded that Israel is committing genocide, adding its voice to growing international concern from legal scholars and human rights organisations. It doesn't have the force of a court or the UN Security Council. But as a commission of eminent legal experts, its findings carry significant moral weight.Arab Barghouthi is the son of Marwan Barghouthi, who is perhaps the most popular Palestinian leader in the occupied territories. He has been in jail for two decades after refusing to take part in the legal process that ultimately convicted him of being involved in attacks that led to the deaths of five people. He denied involvement. In the podcast Arab Barghouthi makes claims about his father's alleged mistreatment in prison. The Israeli prison service has previously responded to these allegations by saying that they have been examined in court which concluded that there had been no violation of the law by the Israeli Prison Service. It also said that all detainees have the right to file a complaint that will be fully examined by official authorities.Israel's Foreign Ministry has categorically rejected the UN commission's report calling it "distorted and false". Israel has always strenuously denied all claims of genocide, ethnic cleansing and apartheid in relation to the Palestinian people.
Marwan Barghouti has spent more than two decades in an Israeli prison. Yet, polls still place him as the most popular Palestinian leader, and a figure that many believe could unite Fatah and Hamas. Earlier this month, he was seen for the first time in years after far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir entered his cell and taunted him on camera. The footage sparked outrage, not least from his family. On this episode, we speak to his son Arab Barghouti about that moment, his father's enduring influence, and what the path to a Palestinian state looks like today.

The US House of Representatives has narrowly approved President Trump's budget bill, despite the Democratic leader in the House delaying the vote for more than eight-and-a-half hours with a marathon speech. The bill aims to slash spending on social welfare programs while increasing funds for border-related operations.

Who, instead of Hamas, could represent a peaceful Palestinian leadership? Why does Marwan Barghouti remain the most popular leader in Palestine despite being in jail for over 20 years, a period during which more than 50% of the population was not yet born? How do the Occupied territories remain hopeful during the ongoing war in the region? Rory and Alastair are joined by Marwan Barghouti's son, Arab Barghouti, to discuss all this and more. At the age of 21 Mostafa Asal reached world number one for the first time, and he made it to the promised land once again a few months ago, recently retaining that top spot in a winner take all type final at El Ghuna earlier this April. In the aftermath of that win though, a youtube video titled "Mostafa Asal Cheating Analysis" was released highlighting 4 or 5 areas in Asal's game that they allege prove he is cheating. The video could have been an objective piece that identifies and discusses the leg trips, aggressive swings, and taking space issues, but instead the video is injected with troubling hateful language and doesn't raise any questions, only pointing fingers solely at Asal. Mostafa provides his thoughts on the video and how he's handling the upshot of it all. We also discuss the high stakes face-off with Ali Farag at El Ghouna, how he adjusted to life and squash in Pontefract, his relationship with coach James Willstrop, his brother Marwan and much more.

How do you see these two technologies interacting in various sectors, especially since you're also the CEO of Dubai Blockchain Centre.
